IMessges/SMS not showing up

I have an iPhone 4, iOS 7.0.3 and I use a lot of text messages, SMS and iMessage. I received 3 new iMessages, it shows 3 on the icon as unread and in the Notification Center, but when I open the messages app the messages aren't there. Please help!

close out of the message app, double tap the home button and completely close out of it.
then do a reset, no data loss. hold down the home/sleep button together until you see the apple logo and then release, then wait for the phone to boot back up.

When I go to the message application and click the menu button, "Compose SMS" does not show up in the list. I am able to receive text messages but I cannot reply to them either. Can anyone help me?

Are You on a BES or using a BIS Service?
If your're on a BES (receiving corporate email on your device) the IT administrator can block the ability to send sms messages.
Which would stop the option to 'compose sms'.
Silly question because it should have been the first thing you did, but have you pulled the battery out with it SWITCHED ON and NOT plugged into anything?

Sms not showing even after ios8.1 update

I been having problem as sms keep disappearing. Always need to restart iphone 6 to show back my sms. I cant reset phone as new as alot of my sms are very important. Please resolve this issue asap.

Everything is turn on (Unless you have the proper guide)
The problem is after restarting all my sms will show. But after i start using other apps on the phone and or after received sms. The rest of the sms just cannot be found (not always but happen frequently). Always gotta reboot.
I had even went to the svc centre located at plaza singapura last week and ask the staff. She ran a check and told me is a common problem (apple is aware) and the next ios update will resolve the issue as i told her i cant erase all contents for my phone and set as a new phone. She did a check and told me that my sms apps keep crashing.
I updated my iphone6+ to ios 8.1 and my sms still disappearing this morning. This is really annoying as i need to restart or reboot my iphone 6+ afew time every single day.

Droid Pro sent SMS not showing up

Hi I just got a Droid Pro earlier today and I'm pretty happy with it except for one thing. I cannot find nor see my sent SMS messages. When I send a sms message, it will show up, then dissapear when I leave the conversation. Some will stay randomly but I'd say 95% of my messages do not show up in conversation threads. Is there any way I can find those messages or change the settings to have them saved in the conversation thread?

We would be glad to help with your Text message settings. Are you using a text message application like Handcent? If not Please check your settings Go to text Messages then menu>message settings>then text messages and check your settings. SMS not showing my phone number

When I send an SMS the recipient does not see my verified number only a 5 digit number.
I have set it up in my SMS options correctly so should show my phone number.
I send predominently to French mobiles. As does my husband and his works fine.

Skype has to rely on the destination network provider's support to show the Sender ID that you have set up. There might be certain providers that have not implemented this correctly. Do you happen to know which French mobile provider network your friend is using?

To my knowledge, I've only seen this for imessage only and not SMS.
The other users would need to have send read receipts enabled on their phone.

I cannot send or receive SMS text messages and my number is not showing up in the 'Recieve At' location..how do I fix this?

Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings
Beyond that... since you state you've tried all "recommended fixes" have you actually restored as new and not from your backup?

It looks like you are sending SMS messages to the U.S. Unfortunately, for messages sent to the U.S., we are currently unable to set the sender ID to your verified number because we are required to send U.S. messages using our shortcode number.

SMS outgoing messages not showing in messaging apps since kitkat

Since the upgrade, when I use the integrated Voice Mate or Google Search to create an SMS, it successfully sends it, but the outgoing text does not show in the SMS app. I've tried the stock SMS and other 3rd party apps, with the same results. However, if I use a 3rd party app like Assistant, Sherpa, Text by Voice. While just using these would be a solution, they don't always want to cooperate like the stock Google Search or even Voice Mate. Is there a fix to this latest upgrade glitch?

I completely understand where you're coming from, I know it's important to have access to the messages. Have you changed the settings in Voice Mate(Voice Mate>Menu>Settings) to ensure it's backed up to your stock SMS app?

Contact name not showing in sms

when i upgrade my iphone 4s into ios 7 and activate my icloud it started to not see the contact names and lost almost all my contacts

it's important to use 10-digit or fullly compliant international numbers for all contacts to keep things working smootly.
on the other hand, if when you have the contact properly filled out and the recent calls or sms list show just the number it's likely a corrupted addressbook.
I had this problem since i restored my iPhone 4 onto my iPhone 4s. turned out to be a corrupted address book database on the phone.
deleting the database @ /Users/Library/AddressBook (all files starting with AddressBook) (while Addressbook NOT running and when iCloud sync and iTunes sync both off) and re-run address book to create empty database before re enable sync solved it!

Contact name not showing in call/sms log even when I call/sms from my address book.

Two things have changed on my phone recently.
1. I ran the latest update 4.3.2
2. My phone was not showing all the contacts in my address book that is in my Mobile Me account. Mobile me had 166 contacts. The iPhone 4 had 136. I I unchecked the syncing of my contacts on my phone. This removed all the contacts from my phone. Then I check the syncing options again. All 166 appeared on the phone.
I'm not sure which of the two caused the issue but now anytime someone who calls their name does not appear on the display or log, just their number. I can even call people from my address book and the display shows that I am calling them with their name and photo on display. However, in the call log the name does not show just their number. This applies for text messages. I send a message directly from within the contact card in the address book and in my text log it shows only the number and not the name.
I've turned the phone off and on a couple of times.
I would appreciate any advice.

In the end I reset my phone to factory settings. I created a back up of my address book and ical. Reset the phone and did a sync again. This fixed it all. I didn't need to use the backups but is was nice to know they were there. I felt entering the various passwords for all my installed apps was a much better deal than adding the international area code to the 166 contacts I have in my address book.

My ipod classic 30gb is not showing as a recognized device in iTunes anymore. When I plug the device in, it shows a black backgroud with the apple logo and nothing happens. Can someone help me as to what the problem might be?

Some phones can only send and recieve SMS messages. If the recipients phone doesn't support MMS they won't be able to recieve a text with a photo.

Online number is not showing up in caller id

I live in the U.S. and my online number is not showing up when I call someone. Is there a way to fix this

I'm sorry I did not give an answer that met your level of specificity. The original poster did not post the number he/she was trying to call. This is also a worldwide forum mostly inhabited by Skype users along with some Skype employees who post from time to time. I'm not a Skype employee, just a user who makes use of many features of Skype to avoid paying more $$$ to the telephone companies.
When Skype users have Online Numbers, these numbers are not automatically used as Caller ID when calling telephones from a Skype account. This way, the Skype users hold the control over whether or not to have a working phone number show up as Caller ID. Most who have Online Numbers want them used as Caller ID, but the users - and not Skype - get that level of control. In my opinion, that's a good thing.
The surest way to see the current Caller ID settings for your Skype account and change them is to log into your account on the Skype web site (use the "account" link on the upper-right corner of the Skype web site). When you log in, you will see the current settings, and the link to make changes. If you have Online Numbers that can be used for Caller ID, you can select them. Online Numbers in the USA and the UK are examples of the numbers that can be used as Caller ID from Skype, and numbers from Mexico and Australia can't be used as Caller ID. You also have options to use different numbers as Caller ID for calls to telephones in those countries, and have a "default" number used for Caller ID anywhere else. In my case, my default number for Caller ID is my US Online Number, and my UK Online Number is used as Caller ID for calls to the UK.
Even with these settings properly configured, there are still occasions where your number (an Online Number, or a mobile number which has gone through the verification process with two SMS messages) will not appear on the Caller ID displays of the phones you call. This is generally outside the control of Skype. If you are using a number that is not a "local" number in the country that you are calling, it too may not show up on the Caller ID display. Instead of posting on the community forums, using the Support link at the top of this page may be the better way to go. You can go through the knowledge base trying to find a solution, and end up opening a support ticket with Skype. If you have a subscription, you may be able to go to a live chat with Skype support.

6280 does not show timestaps in message screen

I've recently bought 6280. I've found that it does not show date and time when sms was sent/recived. When I view any message, it shows only the sender name/number, after it there is a little free space and next there is message body. I don't know how I can change it.
Moreover, Nokia PC suite correctly shows every timestamp.
