  • Sync DVD in Universal Disc Format (UDF) to my AppleTV

I was wondering if anyone out there could point me in the right direction. Some time ago I made a home movie using iMovie/iDVD and my only back up after a hard disk crash is a DVD in Universal Disc Format. How can I convert this DVD to a format that will be accepted in iTunes and thus be synced to my Apple TV?
    Thanks!

  • Universal Disc format to iMovie

Recorded a DVD from a VHS tape on a Sony VHS-DVD recorder. I am able to open in my Mac in the DVD player, but I cannot import to iMovie. The disc shows up as a folder icon in the desktop in a Universal Disc Format. How can I import to iMovie. Thanks

the usual reply in the iM section of this board would be... :
DVDs are in a socalled delivery format (mpeg2), which isn't meant and made for any processing as editing...
for using the iLife apps, you have to convert'em first, in recommended order, choose one of the following tools/workarounds:
    * DVDxDV (free trial, 25$, Pro: 90$)
    * Apple mpeg2 plugin (19$) + Streamclip (free)
    * VisualHub (23.32$)
    * Cinematize >60$
    * Mpeg2Works >25$ + Apple plug-in
    * Toast 6/7/8 allows converting to dv/insert dvd, hit apple-k
    * connect a miniDV Camcorder with analogue input to a DVD-player and transfer disk to tape/use as converter
none of these apps override copyprotection mechanisms as on commercial dvds...

  • Universal Disk Format (UDF) into FCE4

Does anyone know if you can or how to import Universal Disk Format (UDF) into FCE4

The UDF file system itself is not really relevant.
If you are really asking about converting DVD video for editing in FCE, then you need the following:
MPEG Streamclip and the Apple QuickTime MPEG2 Playback Component  (you need both)
Use MPEG Streamclip to convert the DVD video to QuickTime/Apple Intermediate Codec.  Then in FCE select an Easy Setup that matches your video and import the converted file(s) into FCE

  • IDVD5 "Incorrect Disc Format" on Home DVD Player

My newly created DVD will not play in our home DVD player (which has played DVD's I have created in the past). I keep receiving the message "Incorrect disc format". I have burned my project to DVD-R's and DVD+R's. I have enough space, I am burning at "Best Quality", and have deleted the encoded assets before a re-burn because I edited the project. The DVD's I have created will play on my Mac and on other computers (PC's) in the house. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

    Hello,
I burned many DVD with iLife3, and it's work very well (dvr-r)
I read theses on many différent home dvd players and computers (IBM or MAC)
I upgrade to iLife4, same thing, but some reading errors...
I upgrade to iLife5, dvd play only on few home dvd players, and on IBM laptop, having lots of problems
I upgrade to iLife6, Only my MAC or a cheap magnasonic home dvd player read the "iDVD burned DVD-r).
What's happend, Apple change the encoding method of iDVD !
I bought a brand new Panasonic DVD-S77, and ... "disk error"
I try to burn 2x (like iLife3 or iLife4 in the past) same résult.
Im frustrated, I don't try Toast or Popcorn, iDVD is supposed to do the job!
I have my G5 since 4 years, I use TDK and Verbatim DVD-R (unfortunately made in China or Taiwan).

  • What is the difference in apple disc formats and what is best to use

What is the difference in apple disc formats and what is best to use

Impossible to answer your question without knowing what you are attempting to achieve. Please be more descriptive when asking questions otherwise we are just guessing. However if you are going to use a HD exclusively for OS X then the best format is Mac OS Extended (Journaled).

  • Universal Disk Format to iMovie

    Hello,
I put in a DVD which was burned in an iMac and it won't open in iMovie. When looking up the "get info" on the file it says it is in Universal Disk Format. How do I get it into the imovie clip section?
    Thanks

iMovie is for editing uncompressed DV streams, and transferring to iDVD for compression to the standard DVD format of mpeg2.
DVDs do not play or open in iMovie but in the DVD Player.

  • WEBI report on a Universe - Time Format

    Hi,
I have a WEBI report built on a universe that uses a BW query as a datasource.
In my BW report I have two time key figures of type DEC.
Actual Time and Scheduled Time in format HH:MM:SS or -HH:MM:SS if it is a negative value. It works well in Bex and RSRT.
There is a Universe report built on top of this report and my WEBI report is built on the universe.
When I run the WEBI report the time key figures display in the format 10,000 in BO instead of 01:00:00 (HH:MM:SS) as it is in Bex. It is obviously doing some type of internal conversion and outputting the wrong result.
Is there a way to convert the field in BO so that it outputs the same as Bw format?
I have tried changing the universe format properties of the field from Number to Character and back again but it does not give me any different result and in some cases it displays as #DataType.
    Any suggestions welcome.
    BO Version 3.1
    BW Version 7.01
    Regards,
    John

If you select "Date/Time" in the format then select the time field, does this work for you?
It should be HH:mm:ss  (capitalization matters).
I don't have a BW sample currently available to test so this screenshot is from an Oracle data source.
Also, are you able to set the object to a Date type?
    - Carly

  • Disc format for Europe

I need to send a data disc of photos (no music) to Europe. Can Finder or iPhoto burn a data disc that can be read there?

Can Finder or iPhoto burn a data disc that can be read there?
Absolutely yes.  For optical data disks, there is basically no difference in formatting or use anywhere in the world.   (Although there are some uncommmon optical formats; but you would probably need special software to burn them.)
Just insert a blank CD or DVD disk into your Mac's superdrive, copy your image files (JPEG, TIFF, PNG, etc) to the disk and burn the disk.   You can do this in the Finder.  However, if you are using iPhoto you will need to export the image files first, then burn them to your CD or DVD data disk.  (Don't do iPhoto > Share > Burn as that requires the photos to be viewed only in iPhoto.)
Another option would be to create a slideshow in iPhoto, then export the slideshow as a QuickTime Movie (iPhoto > Your Slideshow> Export > Custom Export > QuickTime Movie). You can then burn the resulting QT movie file to blank CD or DVD media.   Note that the resulting slideshow will only be playable on a computer that has QuickTime.
The only time PAL vs. NTSC is an issue is if you are burning a playable DVD disk, meaning a video DVD disk that can be played in a standard DVD player.   you would need iDVD, Toast or other DVD authoring software to do this.

  • Olap universe date format

    Hello,
    BW query connected to universe.
BW query holds the date values in some of the characteristics-attributes which is of type 'date'.
When this imported to BO universe, the date type characteristics are appearing as 'character'.
This is causing problem when sorting the report.... it is sorted in alphabetical order but not in Date order.
When changing in universe as 'object properties' -> type -> Date.   It is giving Error when running the webi report  'A database error occured. The database error text is: (CS) "Driver not capable" . (WIS 10901)' (or) when check integrity in universe.
How to make the  type as date in universe for Time characteristics.
    Thanks
    Sreedh.

    Following are the version installed.
    Universe Designer : 12.1.0.882
    Webi Rich Client : 12.2.6.567
As mentioned in earlier notes.... Webi report connected to Universe to BW Query.
BW query has attributes of 0calweek and it has ValidFrom(date type).  The ValidFrom is appearing as character format and the requirement is to treat ValidFrom as date format in BO (universe or in webi) so that customer can able to Sort by date.   Since ValidFrom in universe changed to character format after the query connected to Universe, so ValidFrom is Sorting as character but not like date.   Is there workaround to make ValidFrom as datetype in BO or anyother version support this.
    Thanks
    Sreedh.

  • What disc formats are supported by Remote Disc

We just purchased a Macbook Air. We have a Dell PC with Windows XP SP2 that we set up for remote disc sharing (using the most recent version of the Windows remote sharing software). Much to my surprise, when I put the OS X disc into that system, it was immediately available on the Air. I put a Windows application disc into the drive and it was also visible and could be searched on the Air. However, when I put CDs that I had created myself on the Dell, they were completely invisible to the Air. These were created with Roxio DLA, and I had already "closed" them to make them readable by other systems (I can read them on a Dell notebook PC). No copy protection on those. I realize that I could copy the contents of CDs onto the target PC or onto thumb drives and access them. That is an additional and inconvenient step.
Does anyone have similar experience or know a way to solve this problem?

Thank you! I was hoping to bring in 24 bit but knew might be iffy.
you can drag'n drop all kind of stuff into iMovie (mp3, ogg. wma, aac) - the underlying Quicktme engine will do its best to convert the data into something useful. in most cases, it works, in many not.
esp. when the sampling frequency isn't 'video friendly' (=not 48kHuz or its even divisors) people notice frequently synch problems.
    Bengt mentioned best practice: aiff/48kHz
24bit is nice, but the delivery codecs, iMovie supports, don't list it.
keep in mind: iM is a 15$ consumer toy tool.
24bit is something from professional studios.-
and again - aside theatrical audio delivery as THX, 24bit is no 'video format'.-

  • Has anyone created a file format converter from "universal file format" uff, to another format?

I need to find or create a file converter from the different Universal formats to another ASCII format. Does anyone know where I can get formating information about UFFs? Has anyone done this? Thanks in advance.

The UFF file info can be found at http://www.sdrl.uc.edu/uff/uff.html
The Sound and Vibration Toolkit 5.0 and the Sound and Vibration Measurement Suite 5.0 offers LabVIEW VIs to read and write UFF58 files.
