IMG 1.9 set-up screen shows up EVERY time I turn on my television

Hello,
I live in NJ and received the IMG 1.9 update a few days ago.
Every time I turn on my TV, I get the set-up screen asking me to choose my television type (standard or HDTV). For some reason, the box isn't "holding" my choice. I tried rebooting, but the set-up screen continues to pop up when I turn on the television. It let's me choose my television type (HDTV) and then everything is fine. But if I shut off the set and put it back on, the set-up screen is back.
Is anyone else having this problem with 1.9? And if so, is there a solution.
Thanks for any help.

Did the Live Chat and here is what became of it, of course the rep proves once again that they never read the information you try to provide, they only know the script.  And they don't get it, asking a question that has been answered tends to tick us off.
A Verizon Service Representative will be with you shortly. Thank you. Agent Kado has joined. (07:52:31) Kado : Chat ID for this session is 10011174309.

DAVID (07:53:05): No thanks I have about 20 of those emails.
Kado(07:53:35): Ok thank you, For account verification purposes, can I get your name, the account holders name, the physical address where you have the service, and a number where you can be reached, please?
Kado(07:55:15): Thank you, do you mind if I call you David?
DAVID (07:55:29): No I don't mind
Kado(07:55:34): How can I assist you today David?
DAVID (07:57:18): Last week we got the 1.9 software, and ever since, only on the 7232, we turn on the TV it asks if we have SD or HD, we select HD and continue on. But this happens every time the TV is turned on, is there a fix?
Kado(07:58:18): One moment please.
DAVID (07:58:41): I forgot to mention the box has been rebooted and auto corrected many times to no avail
Kado(07:59:17): ok, do you select the HD or SD option?
DAVID (07:59:43): I wrote above we select the HD
Kado(08:00:13): Please turn it off and back on and select SD Kado(08:02:53): How we doing
DAVID (08:02:55): Can't, it isn't happening when the box is turned on and off so quick. This is the only time it hasn't happened.
Kado(08:03:25): Turn it off for a minute and then try please.
DAVID (08:04:33): I am waiting to turn it on, what would selecting SD accomplish? Kado(08:05:13): it gets it out of the loop that it is in Kado(08:05:18): then we can go into the menu and change it.
DAVID (08:06:06): OK, I'll have to do it later because it is not going into that screen when I turn it on.
Kado(08:07:02): Ok, try that and it should break the loop and stop doing it. Kado(08:07:12): Is there anything else I can help you with today?
DAVID (08:07:52): No, that is all, hoping that fixes things, otherwise the new software is much better, we really like it.
Kado(08:08:22): Excellent! I want to thank you for choosing Verizon and I hope you can rate me a 10, in the survey at the end of this chat. Have a great day!

  • My screen goes black every time I turn it on

I have a mac that the screen keeps going black. I’ve
searched the Internet and tried all the common solutions.  Details of what I’ve tried are below. It is a
MacBook, purchased probably around 2007. Sorry I can’t tell you more without turning
    it on.
What I’m wondering is, first, if anyone has any suggestions
I haven’t tried. And second, do you think it would be worth it to take it in to
fix it or is it just an old computer and I’ll pay more to try to fix it then to
just buy a new computer. I do rather like my computer…
I turned it on, it would light up for a few seconds, and
then the screen would go black. Also, the little light at the bottom right
would also go black. Sometimes it seemed that the more I turned it on, the
longer the screen would stay lit. Sometimes it would just flash on, sometimes
it would make the start up sound and you’d see the apple before it went black.
It did appear that it was on, since the fan seemed to be on and it was running.
It just had no picture. Also, when I first noticed this problem, a few times it
did come on all the way. Later it didn’t come on all the way unless I did something
    special (see below).
I went online and looked what other people were doing. I
    tried:
Turn off the computer, disconnect the power cord. Let sit
for 5 minutes. Restarted the computer while holding shift key. This made no
    difference.
I reset the NVRAM (or PRAM), as instructed here:  http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204063.
I turned off the computer. Turned it on, held down Command, Option, P & R as
soon as I heard the startup sounds. Then lifted up when the startup sound
sounded again. This actually worked and it came on as normal. However, when I
turned it on again it did the same thing. Doing this again did no good.
Although I did hear the startup sound a second time. It will also flash on
again at the second start up sound.
Then I reset the SMC by unplugging it, removing the battery
and holding the power button for 10 seconds. This worked and I used my computer
for 30 minutes or so… before the screen went black. Doing this again did no
    good.
I tried the Keypress Sequence detailed here: http://osxdaily.com/2014/11/22/fix-macbook-pro-booting-black-screen/
With the computer on, press the Power/OFF button once. Press “S.” Hold the Power
button until a hard shut down is forced. Wait 15 seconds and Power on. By the
sounds, it did appear it went to sleep and then had a hard shut down. This did
    no good.
Next I tried, with the computer off and the cord plugged in,
I turned it on holding down Shift + Control + Option + Power for a few seconds.
Not sure what that did. The little light flashed, then there was a buzzing
sound, the screen flashed and went blank. And apparently went back to its old
    standby.
I adjusted the brightness settings. Nope.

I believe that system has a hall sensor on it to detect when the lid is closed so it can put the system to sleep and/or disable the monitor so it can be used with an external monitor only. If the sensor is marginal or has a bad cable, it may intermittently cut the monitor on and off, and may likewise put the system to sleep. One way to check would be to plug in an external monitor and if the laptop's screen cuts off or doesn't show up, start using the trackpad and press on a non-typing key like the shift key. If the external display suddenly pops and becomes active while the laptop display remains black, it's probably a problem with the sensor or the cable/connection. You might be able to fool the sensor into kicking on and off by moving a magnet over it. It's located on the left had side of the base with the unit opened up, and right over the audio output plug.
I know of some people that put a small magnet right over the hall sensor's location so the laptop display turns off and they use the system with an external monitor, keyboard, and mouse. If fooling with magnets, make sure they're small and don't get them close to the hard drive because a strong magnet can wipe them out.
I don't know if this will help you much, but it might.

  • Airport Express Utility Shows Up Every time computer is turned on

Recently every time I turn my macbook on the airport utility shows up. It never used to do this and I tried changing the preferences but it doesn't work. Is there anyway to make this stop coming up every time I power on the computer.
    Thanks.

There are two possible reasons it would open whenever you log in:
    1. You have it set as a login item.
    2. One of your base stations is reporting an error.
I think it's the latter. Do any of your base stations have a flashing amber light instead of a solid green one?

  • HT2478 how do you make the setting to change desktop background every time you shut down your mac

how to make setting to change desktop background every time you close your mac
because i want to make it if anybody tries to change my dekstop picture i want it to go backto set desktop picture

Don't let other people access your Mac in admin mode - they might change something a lot more important than the Desktop picture.
However you can use Automator: create an Application in it, and select 'Set the Desktop Picture' from the Library. Choose the picture you want. Save the application, then go to System Preferences>Accounts>Login Items and select the Automator application you just created. This will then run at startup and set your chosen picture.

    Hello errod2014,
It sounds like you are unable to see your phone in iTunes after the computer turned off unexpectedly during an iOS update. I recommend resetting the phone first, and then attempting to restore with iTunes again.
To reset, press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons for at least 10 seconds, until you see the Apple logo.
From: Turn your iOS device off and on (restart) and reset

If you are still unable to see your phone in iTunes,  follow these steps for Mac or these for Windows.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Take care,

  • I had the problem of the Apple Sync Notifer.exe showing up every time I signed in.  I finally found it and deleted it and it is in my recycle bin but I am a bit nervous about totally deleting it.   Does anyone know if it is ok to completely delete??

I had a problem with the Apple Sync Notifer.exe showing up every time I signed in.  I finally found a location and
deleted it and it went into my recycle bin.  I was going to clean out the recycle bin and it asked if I really wanted to
delete the Apple Sync Notifer.  I am wondering if it is safe to clear it or did I make an error and should keep it??

Windows 7 can't run on Powerbooks.  The name of the computer is under the display on the frame.   Are you running some software in Boot Camp, or another virtualization engine?

  • Fax screen comes up every time i try to print

    Lokat78,
Welcome to the HP Community Forum.
Take a look at the following:
Print to Printer without First Saving to File
In particular, if you want to reinstall your printer's Full Feature Software:
Install Full Feature Software – OfficeJet 6600
    After you install the software:
Restart / Reboot your computer and log in
IF you have trouble reconnecting your Phone after you install the printer software on the computer, then restart everything again  -- computer, printer, phone, including the Router (modem) -- on your home network.  This probably won't be necessary, by the way.
    Side Bar:
If you do have problems (later / ever) with the phone or other mobile devices and your printer, then -- and again, the whole thing is related to the health of your network -- but not really related to your PC - printer bits -- You could  take a look here for Phone / Mobile Apps :  Add Mobile Device to Printer

  • How can I stop Firefox from re-setting its internet connection configuration every time I re-open the browser? It should stay at "no proxy" but doesn't.

In the past couple of days, every time I close Firefox 8.0, it re-sets the internet configuration to "manual configuration" -- which generates a "proxy server refusing connections" error message. I have to re-set to "no proxy" every time I re-open the browser. This never happened before yesterday. What can I do to make the "no proxy" setting an automatic default on opening? ISP is Verizon high-speed.

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

  • How do you permanently disable Tool Pane from showing up every time you open a pdf document in Adobe Reader DC 2015?

Just like 9.9/10 people out here in the real world, I use Adobe Reader to read pdf files and never (ever) use the Tool Pane for anything.
How do I permanently disable it from showing up, instead of having to close it *each & every time* I open a pdf document? The majority of people don't want thins thing covering up the page they are trying to read.

Okay, seems I've stumbled upon an ugly workaround but it works for me. I'm using Windows 8.1. Go to the install directory, i.e." C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Acrobat Reader DC\Reader\AcroApp\ENU". Create a new subfolder (I used "Disabled"). Move 3 files from the "ENU" folder into the new "Disabled" folder: AppCenter_R.aapp & Home.aapp & Viewer.aapp. Open a PDF and no more Tool Pane! I originally moved just the "Viewer" file but if you clicked on "Home" or "Tools" on the toolbar you couldn't go back to the "Document." Moving all 3 files takes care of that issue. Like a lot of people I don't and won't ever use any of the tools. I just want a reader. Let me know if this works for you.

  • Screen resolution changes every time I open I-Tunes

The screen resolution changes when I open I-Tunes. I have to go into control panel every-time to adjust the resolution to make the print and screen layout small enough so its entirety is captured which then allows me to use I-Tunes. Otherwise the graphics are too large to be captured on the screen making the program unusable.

  • The welcome screen is loading every time I start up Firefox (version 5)

I recently upgraded to version 5.
Every time I start Firefox up, the "welcome to Firefox" screen is loaded in a second tab. I don't want it to load every time. The first time I launched the program was enough.

Do you see a Last 7 days folder?
If not then older history has been deleted.<br />
Firefox 5 doesn't use a time limit to store history like previous Firefox 3 versions did.

  • System Preferences- Desktop/Screen saver- crash EVERY TIME

    Hi-
I have a brand new iMAc 24" with Leopard and all software is up to date via update as of 12 hours ago (10.5.1 etc). I have office 2004 and photoshop/illustrator but NO other software loaded. The computer is now 7 days old. Yesterday I used system preferences to change my desktop picture to something from my iPhoto library, as per normal with 10.5.1 I got one picture up and then went to change it and now EVERY TIME I try to change anything in the desktop/screen saver system preferences the application dies. I can get the desktop/screen saver page to open but as soon as I click any conceivable option on that window the system preferences application dies. I have sent about 7 crash reports to apple and see that others are describing similar (not identical) problems. Is apple going to fix this? I DID not install leopard on this computer, its BRAND NEW. The only thing I have done is to update whatever apple told me was available. HELP...

My computer was a month old when I installed Leopard (which turned out to be an adventure....), and once I finally got a proper install one of the features I explored was Desktop and Screensaver, specifically I tried the new mosaic option in the Screensaver for pictures, it seemed to work. The 10.5.1 update came out, a bit later I tried that Screensaver option again and not only did it not work, but it crashed System Prefs. I ended up trashing every plist and cache file having to do with System Prefs, Screensaver, and iphotomosaic in my home ~/Library folder. Oh, and in searching for them they managed to crash the Finder too. So take a look thru ~/Library, especially Preferences, be sure to also look in the ByHost folder, and you might also check the Caches folder. Remove all files you can find that have to do with System Prefs, Screensaver, and Desktop. Once I did that all was fine again with my System Prefs. The mosaic option even started working again.
