IMG - Homepage Framework Service - Direct URL launched in a seperate window

Hi All,
I have added a quick link to Working Time to point to an external site within our Client's network. As a test I have entered "http://google.com" into the Directory Path field. But when I click the link it opens a new window and navigates to google.com, but there is a large amount of url paramaters added to the url. Can someone please tell me how to accomplish this without the paramater string being added to the url? SAP has said that they are not allowed to answer my question??

Hi,
apart from the fact that those parameters are ugly obviously some sites can not handle additional parameters and so it is not possible to navigate to a non-portal navigation target. That is why I'm wondering if it is possible to avoid them.

Hi,
I have created a custom web dynpro ABAP app to update a Z Infotype. I have also added it to the ESS Personal Info area page and all works well. We want this application to work EXACTLY as other delivered ESS apps like address etc,, so we also want confirmation links on the confirmation page.
I did go through SPRO through the path mentioned in the chain above and created an entry there ... but I have no CLUE as to how willl my web dynpro app use that information ... I am not too experienced with the Portal, just know how to create i-views, and add them to worksets and do a bit of customizing to make them appear on appropriate area page. Any help, or tutorial link or procedure to do this would be helpful. precisely i am confused on the following points:
1. Do i need to add LinkToAction UI elements on the final view or not ?
2. How does the portal come to know which view in my app is the final confirmation view.
3. Do i need to code anything in the web dynpro app to read the customizing info and display the links?
4. How does the location gets determined where the confirmation links will appear.
I am for the time being using navigation links in my web dynpro abap application. But when I Navigate to a portal page, the portal desktop theme goes for a toss. So i want to see if confirmation links make any difference.

Homepage Framework services in Sitemap

Hello Sitemap Gurus,
We used ECC Homepage Framework to setup our ESS pages in Portal. The HF configuration consist of creating the resource link which are attach to area pages.
In turn the area pages are grouped under area group to create the resource which shows on the Portal as page.
The issue we are running into is that we cannot pull the resource services links in the sitemap. Has any one tried pulling the service resource link in the portal sitemap.
Any suggestion on how to do it will be helpfull.

That's correct, work protect mode shouldn't be the problem in your case.
I would probably start from the portal role and drill down through each portal component (i.e. Workset, Page, iView) and check that nothing has a parameter set to open the content in a new browser window.
Doing it this way (as opposed to opening each component) should reveal any delta linked changes to parameters that you may not be able to see when looking directly at the iViews etc.
I am assuming that the right Homepage configuration has been transported to your testing client as well?

Open external URL from Homepage Framework

We are building our new ESS functionality with Homepage Framework and I need to create some links to external URL. I would like them to open in a different window with no portal header at all. They should appear as services listed in the menu area. While this seems easy, I had tried several things with no success.
First, I created an URL iview in portal content. I marked the option "launch in external window" to Open in a separate window.
I create a resource that pointed to this Iview, and linked resource with a "java webdynpro" service, service with subarea and subarea with area. The service link is displayed correctly but it is always opened in the portal page, not in a different one. Have i forgotten any parameter that would make this work?
A second approach was to create a resource that includes the URL and an associated service, marked as "Direct URL launched in separate window".
This succeds in calling the URL in a differeny window but it adds some strange parameters at the end. So instead of calling http://www.google.com it calls something like http://www.google.com?sap-ext-sid=2J*HeTVW7295w3QWBZhQow--

Define Resource: you have to mention all the below details
1. object name :http:// (url ).
2.window name: "".
3.window Property : target="_blank".
and also check define service:
service type: Direct url launched in a seperate window.
And assign resouce to service -
>
service to sub area--->
sub area to area---->
area to areagroup.

Launch applications in new Window from UWL

I have lot of work Items in my UWL. Each could be an SAP Transaction or a WebDynpro Application. I just want them to be launched in a seperate window.

This option is working fine for normal pages. But I need to open the tasks in a New Window.
I changed this property for Two Iviews:
Tasks & Universal Worklist under Contents provided by SAP > End user content > Standard Portal Users > Iviews.
It is not working. I need to Launch WebDynpro Apps & Transaction Iviews.
Any Suggestions.

Dynamically hiding the services on homepage framework

Dear All,
Requirement in my case is like for some users some specified links should be visible on the overview page which we configure from SPRO through resources, area pages , services etc
and for others these links shouldnt be visible.
For example : in ESS role one document link is there which should me visible only to one set of users.
To workaround this, we made two ESS roles and replicated all authorizations, with one ESS role having the document link in addition.
But this is very tedious and messy since we need to replicate SPRO config also for the overview page.
Please help if some workaround is possible through portal setting or through service/area page settings.

When you say a document link - Is it a service in the homepage framework ?
If your requirement is to provide few extra services (within the same sub area or Area), you can implement a proxy class and implement your custom logic in the proxy class. The proxy class can hide/show the services using it based on your custom logic.
(There is a field for setting a proxy class in the "Define Services" view in the homepage framework).
You can refer to CL_XSS_CAT_1_AREA_PAGE for example implementation which uses interface IF_XSS_SER_PROXY_SERVICE.

Service Accounts for Browser Services and FD Launcher (Full-text Search)

I am setting up SQL Failover Clustering (Version: 2012SP1) on Windows 2012. There are 2 options to configure the service account for Browser Services and FD Launcher :
Option 1) Using separate domain accounts, as what I have done for DB Engine and SQL Agent.
Option 2) accept the default, which is local service for
browser, and virtual account for
FD Launcher. Per documentation URL: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms143504.aspx
which is the recommended one? is it option 2?
There is security note on above URL as well, but does not clearly mention that option 1 is not recommended.
Security Note: Always run SQL Server services by using the lowest possible user rights. Use a
MSA or
virtual account when possible. When MSA and virtual accounts are not possible, use a specific low-privilege user account or domain account instead of a shared account for SQL Server services. Use separate accounts for different SQL Server services. Do not
grant additional permissions to the SQL Server service account or the service groups. Permissions will be granted through group membership or granted directly to a service SID, where a service SID is supported.

In SQL Server full text filter daemon launcher, on Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008, the FDHOST Launcher service account also defaults to LOCAL SERVICE. If you provide a domain account in which to run the FDHOST Launcher service, we highly recommend
that you use a low privilege account. On Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008R2 , we use Virtual Account or Managed Service account(MSA) in FD Launcher . We also need to note the account you used for
FD Launcher should be different from the account that you use for the SQL Server service. For more information, see:

So I recommend you use the option 2 to configure the service account for Browser Services and FD Launcher.

If you're running Mac OS X 10.6.6 or newer, click on the App Store icon in the Dock, go to its homepage if needed, and look at the sidebar on the right.

SRM 7.0 business object / individual procurement document direct URL access

While our Basis team is configuring the Portal integration with our newly upgraded SRM 7.0 system, I am wondering if it's possible to take a sneak peak at the business object on the WebDynpro screen, for example, via SICF webdynpro service, such as

After activating all relevant services (as far as I understand), I tried to access the following URL directly on the browser:
https://<server;domain>:<port>/sap/bc/webdynpro/sapsrm/wdcc_v_rfq_purchaser?sap-client=010&sap-language=EN?
I encountered the "Access via 'NULL' object reference not possible" exception on the web page. I think it's due to the missing object type and object id reference on the HTTP parameters. But what are the parameter name(s) that are required on the URL? Does anybody have the experience in accessing an individual document through direct URL?

Homepage framework/Overview iView

Hello All,
I am using ESS 1.0. The overview screen for ESS has various areas such as Personal Info, Benefits and Payments etc.
If I want to have one set of users viewing Personal Info and benefits and payments and the second set of users only viewing personal info do I have to create multiple Overview iViews and do the necessary configure in the backend e.g. create numerous 'area group pages' in the homepage framework.
Or is there a simpler way?

Nope...no simpler way. That's it. You can use "proxy services/classes" to show/hide services on an Area page dynamically, but when presenting different Areas in an Area Group, you are pretty much stuck making several "versions" of your ESS config. It is not daunting or difficult...just a bit tedious. I had one client with 6 different ESS Homepage Framework versions.....yes, that's how I got to know HF pretty well. haha

Web Dynpro access Application Services directly?

We're looking at implementing some processes using Guide Procedures, and I have a question about design 'style'.
I'm creating a data layer using Entity Services. The entity services will be utilized by the Application Services to create a business layer. How to do this is clear, and straightforward.
However, where I have a question is how the automatically generated Web Dynpro application (or any other Web Dynpro application, for that matter) can interact with Application Services. I've seen sample applications where the Web Dynpro application interacts with application services via mapping from the Web Dynpro interface layer through the GP Runtime - from my perspective, this looks like a good way to deal with a small amount of data being passed between the steps in the GP.
The primary Web Dynpro application will let the user interact with the data, massaging it until it's in a form where the next person needs to deal with it. I was thinking of having the Web Dynpro application interact with the Application Services layer directly to move data from the database to the web dynpro application, and back again. The only thing that would be passed between the steps in the GP would be the guid of the primary data structure. I would also expose a method of the Application Service as a CO which would take the guid and return the entire business object, so viewing screens could be constructed - as well, PDF's could be generated, and so on.
Is this considered bad form in a GP, specifically accessing Application Services directly, instead of through a step in the GP? I understand that what I want to do ties the Web Dynpro application directly to the Application Services layer, but my thinking is that the CO that encompasses the Web Dynpro should be 'atomic', in that all operations related to that specific step should be contained in a single CO. In other words, the action of creating the business object, fiddling with it, an then submitting it upstream should be contained in one CO.

      In the Composite Application Framework scenario, you first create the Business Entities. These act as data holder. To fill the data within these entities the Application services are created. These application services are later exposed as a webservice and deployed.
               These webservices can contain different methods along with the CRUD operations depending on the Process Flow and Design implemented. We can import the webservices as a model in the WebDynPro Component. The UI elements of the Views can be binded to the Model. So when we execute the model methods the data gets entered into the Business objects.
               This WebDynPro component should be a callable object ( It requires some Dependencies to be added to the WebDynPro Component ). So that you can have Input/Output parameters and ResultStates. These parameters are useful if you have to pass some parameters from one view to other within the same component. So this WebDynPro Callable object includes the Application service calls and also the passing of data through the GP Input/Output Structures.
               These callable objects are then included within the Process.
This is how I think a Composite Application must be designed.

New ESS config - Homepage Framework (area group, etc) seems to be missing

I am installing the new ESS 1.0 for ECC6 (ERP5).
I succsessfully imported with SDM he new:
ESS BP
PCUI_GP
I then created all systems in the portal and all JCo's.
When I try and open Employee Self-Service (any pages) in the Portal I get the following error:
Area group SAPDEFAULTESSERP2005 does not exist._
It seems like the Homepage Framework has not been imported for some reason as there are no default area groups or anything else in homepage framework.
Have I missed something? Is there something else I also had to import?

it seems that you are trying to use an ERP2005 ESS package with an
ERP2004 backendsystem. Unfortuanetly this is not working.
You can use
ERP2004 - ECC5 - NW2004 - ESS 100 - ESS BP ERP2004
or
ERP2005 - ECC6 - NW2004s - ESS 600 - ESS1.0 BP ERP2005
However it should be possible to connect the ESS 100 application which
are running on a NW2004 to an EP7.
