Img tag - alternate text not read on Vista laptop

Hello,
I noticed something curious and maybe it migth just be a small thing to have it solved.
On my website www.lotolux.com I added to my pictures the alternate text. On my desktop under XP when I go with the cursor over those pictures the alternate text appears.
I have also an Acer Timeline laptop and here I have Vista on it. Now when go to my website using my laptop the alternate text doesn't show up.
Has this something to do with Vista? How can solve this ?

How come that IE8 does show the alternate text on my pictures when I go on the internet using my desktop under XP.
When I use my laptop with Vista + IE8 it doesn't work.
So I assume it is the combination XP+IE8 that do work, but the combination Vista+IE8 doesn't. Is that correct?
Then hopefully Windows 7 will fix that bug.

CS3 (Tiger)--imported text not reading tags--urgent, please

CS3 is not reading the tags when I import text into my catalog template. The text file is highly formatted with lots of paragraph and character styles. This was never a problem in CS2, where the text came in properly formatted and flowed from box to box and page to page.
Now the text is coming in unformatted, as if the tags weren't even there.
So I tried importing to an empty document and for some reason that worked. The text imported with the proper styles. Great. So then I tried to export it anew, as a tagged file. But upon attempting to import it again into the catalog template, I got a dialog box saying: Import Failed.
I've never seen that before either.
What now? For now, I can of course copy and paste the successfully formatted text from the temporary document into the catalog template but that's a workaround. I have to be able to solve this. What could be messing up the tags in my catalog template -- which, by the way, has been converted from CS2 to CS3?
Is CS3 the culprit? Is something else going on? How can I fix this? Where to begin? It doesn't help that I have an urgent deadline.
Suggestions and advice most appreciated.

Wireless connection not visible on Vista laptop using Time capsule

Change setup with Time capsule 1 TB, all MAC PC's work perfectly with wireless connection, except Vista laptop.
Vista discovers all other wireless connections except the one from Time capsule.
On advise from forum, changed Airport settings :
- Radio mode = 802/a - 802/g"
- Wireless security to "none"
Which other setting on Vista prevents at least discovering the wireless signal ?

I believe the problem has to do with some potential compatibility issue between the SP3 update and the currently installed Boot Camp drivers. Did you make sure that you (re)installed the latest Boot Camp drivers after you performed the SP3 update?

Alternate Index not read with FOR ALL ENTRIES

I have a select statement like:

I have defined an alternate index on LFA1 called ZX2 (MANDT, STCD2). T_INFILE is sorted by a field called FEDTAXID. This is a nine character field. TAXCODE2SSN is the same number but it is formatted 999-99-9999. TAXCODE2FED is the same number only formated 99-0000000. FEDTAXID2 is the same as FEDTAXID.
S_DOKTL is defined as sign = I, Option = BT, Low = 000, High = 000.
The problem is LFA1ZX2 is not being used. The file is being read sequentially. Any ideas what is causing the alternate index to be ignored? I wrote another select statement where I removed the FOR ALL ENTRIES and the "ddoktl IN s_doktl" and the alternate index is being used. Any thoughts?

It's probably the OR-condition causing the problem. An alternative could be a driver table (t_infile or a new one) that does not have one line with three tax code variations but rather one line for each variation in one generic column. If this driver table is sorted by tax code and stripped of duplicates, there might be an improvement possible.

installed Vista machine, and all the static text was invisible.
Dynamic text appeared fine. Colors are websafe #663300 and #cc00ff.
It was connected by modem, which is the other difference from the
working versions I've seen. The font is Eras Bold ITC. Any guidance
is welcome!

Firefox appears to install. The desktop icon says 4.0 Beta 9 but when it starts it is 3.6!

I cannot get my Vista laptop to print to the printer on the base station

I cannot get my laptop windows pc to wirelessly print to the printer on the base station. the mac have no problem with it. but not the pc vista laptop or xp running on boot camp on my imac Leopard.
How do you make this happen?
It's an HP business Inkjet 1200 bubble jet printer, hooked to my EBS

Try resetting the printing system:
OS X Mavericks: Reset the printing system
Next try deleting the system and reinstall the printer..

Alternate Text in a Figure Tag

Is there a control, option, or preference that can be toggled on or off for when the alternate text in a figure tag shows when the cursor is hovering over an image in a tagged pdf? I am trying to get it so that the alternate text does NOT show when the cursor is hovering over an image. I also noticed that this happens over some images yet not others. Is there a preference for this?

Thanks! Because of this advice I used Acrobat to delete every one of the drawing objets that Word had inserted, then tagged, and pasted back the drawings from another copy of the original file. Everything worked except two of the arrows are missing the triangles to indicate direction, and the image that I wanted to add Alt-text to is now tagged as Figure not ClipSpan. The options for the detailed description I wanted to add are not available for Figure. However, it is not worth the extra effort for me to try anything else now.
If anyone wants to dig into this deeper I'll tell you that: (1) it is not the original (multi-colour) image that seems to be causing the problem but rather the simple line drawings from Word; (2) When selecting objects in a region with Acrobat I saw a few very small rectangles that didn't seem to have any content. I guess that Word is somehow putting very large mostly empty graphics on a layer above the text and that Acrobat tagging is changing the background colour of those graphics to the background colour. But as I know almost nothing about Word and little about Acrobar it is only a guess.

When opening the Coloursync utility and pressing the verify button, I received an error message stating that the Tag 'cprt':Text tag has an incorrect length which could not be fixed as the file is locked. Does anyone know how to rectify this?

I followed the steps to unlock the .icc file in the "getinfo" screen then went on clicking repair in colorsync utility.
This is the message i got:

Any possibility you could use the HTML control instead? The textField control does not support the <img> tag in AIR due to security issues. Here's the comment from the documentation:
For AIR content in the application security sandbox, AIR ignores img tags in HTML content in ActionScript TextField objects. This is to prevent possible phishing attacks.

ITunes on new computer not reading MP3 tags

I have transferred my library of MP3 that were ripped from CD from my old computer to my new computer, and many of the files do not show the album name or artwork, etc. in iTunes. If I look at file properties in Windows, however, all the information is present for the MP3 - album, artist, etc. I have found that there is a field called "Encoded by" and is says "iTunes 11.0.2.26", or some other is an older version of iTunes. If this iTunes version is older than the latest version of iTunes on my new computer, then iTunes does not read the MP3 tags correctly. If I manually change that iTunes version in Windows to the latest iTunes, then that file is fixed!!!
My question is, what is the fastest way to make this change for all the files that are showing old info in the "encoded by" field? The files are all buried in various artis->album folders in the music folder, and I can't see any way to change this field from iTunes, I can only do it from windows explorer. If I could do it in iTunes it would be fast because I could group all the bad files together, select them all, and change them in one step.
Please help! I am close to fixing it!

Are you using the latest downloaded version of iTunes from Apple.com, instead of a version that came on disc with the iPod? According to this article, Windows Vista 64-bit required iTunes 7.6 or later

ITunes not reading ID3 tags correctly

I have an album of mp3s, all correctly ID3 tagged (WinAMP and Windows Media Player read them fine), and when I try to add it into my iTunes library, it only add it as the filename. It does not read the artist, album, or track name from the tag.
It is strange that it is able to read some of the id3 tags but not all.

Something else on your system is probably changing the tag outside of itunes. For instance, WMP is set to get album info from the internet.
iTunes isn't constantly scanning your library for any little tag change (a good thing, otherwise it would use 100% CPU all the time). When you go to play it or get Info, it DOES read the tag info.
Then again, I might not understand your itunes preferences settings. I have mine set for itunes not to organize my files and not add them to the itunes library.

Copying text in Reader 9 in pdf that was set to not allow copy in Acrobat 8

i have acrobat 8 professional and set a document to be password protected and not allow copying of selected text.
in Reader 9 i am able to select and copy text after providing the password.
why doesn't Reader 9 honor all the secuity set in Acrobat 8? seems like a gaping security hole. and i have one not very happy client.

Status bar text is not read by Screen reader.

Dear Colleagues,
In my Java application(Java Swings), I use a status bar to show the status of application for user. In String XML file, I use the status message type as 'XMSG'. This perticular text is not read by the SCREEN READER. This is tested during the 'Accessibility Testing'. Could some one tell me the reason for the text being not read by Screen reader? Any special settings needed in xml file or any other place, which enables the text to be read by the screen reader?

My first guess is the same as yours, which is a "zoom" issue. Holding down the Command key and pressing 0 (zero) should reset the zoom level of the current site to the standard level. Is that still too small?
Regarding content overlapping, this can occur for a few different reasons. Please check on these:
(1) "Text Only" zoom
If View menu > Zoom > Zoom Text Only has a checkmark, click it again to unselect it.
(2) Manually setting font sizes
In the Preferences dialog (either the "3-bar" menu button or the Firefox menu) > Content > "Advanced" button
If the Minimum font size is set to a number larger than 9, change it to 9 or None. A large minimum font size often will wreck the layout.
At the top, there is "Fonts for" drop-down that usually will say Latin or Other Writing Systems. You will want to make the same change for both of those, so select whichever one isn't currently displayed.
Finally, make sure the checkbox for "Allow pages to choose their own fonts" is checked and OK out of the dialog.
Any difference so far?
