IMic, a blast from the past

I'm still using OS 10.2.6. I have an older iMic that I bought when I purchased the G3 dual USB four years ago. Never took it out of the package until this evening when I was going to transfer some audio tape to CD. Has anyone out there ever gotton this version of iMic to work with this type of iBook? There seems to be no on-line documentation anywhere for an old iMic. Of course, since the G3 has no audio input, the iMic is connected via USB. The closest I got to getting it to work was a loud buzz from the computer speakers. Thanks. Oh, yes, how did you get your's to work? If you did.

I have an old iMic too...
A couple of things to watch out for: make sure that the power cord of your tape deck and computer are plugged in to different power sockets on different circuits - there is a problem with impedance or 'hum'; i.e. don't plug the deck and computer into the same power socket or circuit board.
Ensure that the cables connecting the deck to the iMic to the computer are not looped or coiled back on itself - same problem again with impedance. The cable run should be straight, and there should be as much space as possible between all three units.
The input switch on the old iMic is confusing - you have to experiment before realising that the switch works in the opposite way to that expected!

hey guys and gals, i really need help. i've been trying to fix my iTunes software for months now. Without further ado, here's what happened:
installed itunes
deleted quicktime accidently
installed quicktime
installed itunes
itunes still doesn't work
installed and reinstalled multiple times from both the c.d. and itunes.com
Therefore, when i attempt to open my itunes program, the dialoge box stating, "iTunes has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience. Send error report, dont send."
the details of the error report are:
"information regarding the condition of iTunes when the problem occured; the operating system version and computer hardware in use; your digital product id, which could be used to identify your license; and internet protocol(ip) address of your computer.
we do not intentionally collect your files, name, address, email address or any other form of personally identifiable information. however, the error report could contain coustomer- specific information such as data from open files. while this information could potentially be used to determine your idenity, if present, it will not be used. the data that we collected will only be used to fix the problem. if more information is available, we will tell you when you report the problem. this error report will be sent using a secure connection to a database with limited access and will not be used for marketing purposes."

hmmm. okay, the first thing i check for with one of those is a broken quicktime. does your quicktime currently launch, or does it give you an error message?
if it gives you an error message, let's first try the following technique. switch off antivirus and antispyware applications prior to the uninstalls and repair installs.

Blast from the past: How do I draw image maps in Dreamweaver CC 2014?

Need to update some old stuff, and can´t find where to draw image-maps on images.

First, you need to be in Design View to get the image map tools to appear.
Once there, the image map icons should show when you select an image. If they don't, you may have your Properties panel collapsed. In the bottom right corner of the Properties panel, there's a tiny triangle, click that to expand the panel to include the image map tools.

Apple IIgs(a blast from the past) help needed!!

     I know your suppose to let go of older tech, but it's kinda hard to when it brings back fond memories. I bought my Apple IIgs back in the late to mid 1980's & it's been one of the most durable computers I have had with the exception of my MacBook Pro Laptop that I have had about 4 years. For over 20 years this Apple IIgs has run without a problem. So, here is what I have & my problem/question.
     I have a Woz Limited Edition Apple IIgs with a Internal 100MB hard drive. As I have 200+ games & other programs for this computer it brings me back to pleasant times. Over the last 5 or so years I've used it less & two days ago it would boot. Is there anyone I can take it to close to Jackson, Tn to see if it's fixable?
     I took the cover off & on the side of the 100MB internal hard drive there is a pop out tray with two fuses which are good. The hard drive was easily removed & upon removal I noticed a small sound like a piece had come loose inside the hard drive housing. Upon opening the top of the housing(top side where the fan is) sure enough a small piece had came unsaurtered.
     I have considered resaurdering(word spelled wrong) the small part to the board myself as it looks like it controls the fan or is fan related, but am trying to find somewhere to take this to be looked at.
     It has been one good computer & would rather not trash it. Any help would be apprieated as am seeking somewhere that gives me the best chance to fix the problem. I figured Apples dissucision group would be my best bet on a answer.

Have no fear; your IIgs is imminently fixable. Finding someone local may be a challenge, but you could start with looking for an Apple users group near you:

Knowing the make and model of the hard drive (was it a Vulcan?) would be helpful, as would clear pictures of the situation you describe.

I have uploaded photos from the past and they are grouped by dates. How do I seperate those photos into their own folder/album so that I can easily identify the contents. Also, what is the difference between Album, Smart Album and folders?

It would be good to take the tutorials and learn iPhoto - these are for the previous version but the concepts are the same and much of the command is the same - and it would be a worthwhile investment of time to take the iphoto tutorials - http://www.apple.com/findouthow/photos/ - they are very helpful and will save you a lot of time and frustration. - also the tutorials in iPhoto Help will be helpful - while iPhoto is easy and intuitive it does have a learning curve and it will save you time and pain if you spend a few minutes learning the basics
as to organization - events are generally time based and are the basic automatic organization - you can merge and split them to make them work better for you but they are not a good way to do detailed organization - best to leave them time based
albums are logical things that contain photos and are just pointers to the photo in the event so they take no extra space and all changes to a photo anywhere are reflected everywhere
Smart albums are the same except they are automatically filled based on the criteria you set when you create them
Folders are containers that you create and a folder can contain albums, smart albums or other folders so they are a big help in organization - like a vacation folder that holds folders for France, USA, China with each of thos folders holding albums of photos from the country

TS1702 Re: Notes App. I opened Notes, then opened a particular note. It opened briefly, and then suddenly several notes, from the past two weeks, just disappeared. Is this a known glitch, and is there any way to retrieve or restore these lost notes?

The other day i deleted my email accounts off of my ipod and only reloaded a few of them. today i looked at my notes to look at a project i had typed on my notes because i didnt have paper and pen around to write it and i didnt want to froget. I reloaded the rest of my emails in hope that everything would reappear but sadly only some of them from 2010 loaded. Recently i had update some of the files and they were like they were when i first created them there were alos ones that i had deleted long ago. You can download your iTune purchases by going to the iTunes Store > Purchased.
You have to be signed in with the Aple ID the purchased were made with and the computer needs to be authorized for that account.

Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try another cable
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

We're using Outlook 2003 with the connector.
But the connector doesn't show my appointments from the past since i installed Outlook 2003 with the connector.
My appointments are in the calendar because I can see them in the webclient.

I found some information which might be useful to you and your organisation.
Current workaround: Enable the offline capabilities of Oracle Connector for OutlookClose Outlook.
Close Outlook Click the Windows Start button, and select Settings.
Select Control Panel from the pop-up list, and double-click the Mail icon.
Click Show Profiles.
Select the appropriate profile and click Properties. Click E-mail Accounts.
Select the View or change existing e-mail accounts option.
Click Next.
Select Oracle Connector for Outlook and click Change. The Oracle Connector for Outlook Profile Settings dialog box opens.
Under the Startup tab check Enable offline use
Set synchronization range to start 1 year in the past Open OCFO On the Tools menu, click Send/Receive Settings. From the pop-up list, select Define Send/Receive Groups. Click Edit. Select the calendar folder Click Filter selected folder Set to start in the previous 2 years Synchronize Select the Calendar folder under the folder list Click Tools | Synchronize this Folder

If you mean recover old messages, the short answer is no.
You would have to do a full restore of a backup that contained the messages you wish to view again. Basically, if you deleted the messages, they are gone.

I got infected with Vorstran (or Vorstan?) many months ago. I'd love to reload Firefox now that I have everything straightened out on my computer, but in the past when I had to reload Firefox, all my old book marks, came back. (They must be saved to load for me the next time I heed to reload??) Not wanting to get Vorstran back on a reload, I have hesitated to try to reload as when it comes in, it infects all browsers, overwrites my backups and generally locks itself in the system Can I get a totally clean version of Firefox to load to completely start over?? I don't want to bring anything forward from the past at all. No book marks, favorites, folders, nothing. Can that be done somehow so I can finally again use my favorite browser? My old email that is now closed, was "[email protected]". I had to change it to the current one "[email protected]" How would I go about getting a totally clean version of firefox? Thanks

if you are absolutely, 100%, completely certain that you want to start from scratch (after having made sure that your system is clean of the malware);
To completely remove your old profile, you must manually delete the Firefox folder;
# Click the Windows Start button, and select Run….
# Type in %APPDATA% in the Run prompt then click OK.
# Open the Mozilla folder.
# Delete the Firefox folder.
Next, install a clean copy of Firefox from ([https://www.mozilla.org/en-GB/firefox/new/ link]).
