Immediately trigger my business rule validation before submit form

Hi all:
please help me to solve my requirement as these:
I want to be able to fill in fields on the page based on an action on another field?
For example, I have a text Input field, and the user types in their employee number, 123, and presses enter. I may want the 5 fields that describe the employee to be automatically filled in.or immediately trigger my business rule validation.
Ps.We must use JSP view type solution
thanks your help !

Ting Rung,
If you want to validate the employee number against a database value, you will have to write a custom action to do this, and use javascript to submit your form when the user leaves the employee number field.
These are typical Oracle Forms like requirements, it is doable but not very common in an HTML application.

• Business Rules are disappearing from forms in Hyperion Planning v 11.1.1.3

We are using Calculation Manager to create business rules in a planning v 11.1.1.3 application using EPMA, web logic and SQL Server. We have had several instances where business rules that were attached to forms suddenly would disappear. The form still is aware that there is an attached rule, because the application and database name appears in the Business Rules section of the form. However, all of the business rules in the application are no longer visible (i.e. the rule names are blank). The only way we have found to correct the problem is to make a copy of the rules in Calculation Manager and then redeploy the rules and re-attach them to the forms. The old rules still show up with blank descriptions. This has happened at two different locations and seems to corresond with application deployment, although intermittent. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks...

If I understand what you're saying, I had the same or similar thing happen to me recently with v11.1.1.3, only I'm using classic Business Rules. I don't know why the problem occurs, although I think the root cause is probably related to inter-server communications, not to the corruption or loss of metadata. It happened to me in the target environment when I exported the rules from one environment and imported them into another.
When I encountered the problem, I opened and then saved (without changing anything) the business rule cluster I use for managing access rights. That resolved the problem, my guess is by giving the application servers enough of a kick in the pants to start talking to one another again.
I don't know whether this helps any, but I just thought I'd let you know you're not the only one who has seen this problem.
Regards.

• Business Rule Validation Error

Hello,
Please help me I'm finding the this error when I'm validating Business Rule in Admin Services.
"Unable to run or validate this rule (Demo2) against the following location: Essbase/Amit-pc/Sample/Basic for user Admin"

Hi,
Make sure you add the location in the locations tab of the business rule, then give the user access in the next tab along.

• Handling business rules validation

Using adf/bc. After sifting thru alot of documentation, I'm still left wondering about the 'right' way to implement the validation of business rules in the entity class. Specifically, I would like to know the difference between using the validateEntity method to validate attributes and using separate, declarative based method validators for each attribute that needs validation. Also, if a method validator is used and it fails, what type of exception is thrown? JboException? Thanks for input on this.

Steve, thanks for the response. I've implemented the code from (#107) your examples site and everything works fine with regard to providing custom validation messages for attribute validation errors/exceptions. Also, for other more app specific validation of business rules, i'm using method validators on the entity object, which have a corresponding message bundle. This, in conjunction with your code, works good also in catching and customizing error messages. How does the framework 'find' the message bundle to be used for the error message text in a case like this where there is more than one message bundle? Thanks again, James.

• Business Rules Validation when validating from Calc Manager

When I try to validate a business rule that has been migrated to calc manager, it throws an error:
Error compiling formula .... Operator expected after ... brname.
What could be the reason it is throwing such error.
Thanks

The thread points to having a file "CDF_STRING.JAR" in <MIDDLEWARE_HOME>/EPMSystem11R1/products/Essbase/EssbaseServer/java/udf folder.
However, I do not have this file in this location. There is a file "CALCMGRCDF.JAR"
Do we need to have the "CDF_STRING.JAR" file as well or just the "CALCMGRCDF.JAR" is good in version 11.1.2.3 calc manager.
Thanks

• 11.1.1.3 Business rules not appearing in form

Hi
I am working in 11.1.1.3, and creating HBRs in calc manager, with variables, for use on planning forms (i.e. to "Run on Save")
Problem I have is that even after the rule is deployed, it is not visible in the "Business Rules" tab while editing the data form.
Anyone know of any bugs that might be causing this issue ?
Thanks

There are a few bugs that will cause this -- have you patched up to the latest EPMA, Calc Manager, and Planning patches that are available from support.oracle.com?

• S1000d - Business Rule validation

Hi- I have just started using S1000d, i created a rule in my business module( eg //description/para/emphasis) with allowedObjectFlag=0 , i have also set my Data module pointing to the business module. And so, when and how does my Data module get validated against the mentioned rule? Whenever i try to validate my Data module, it turns out as valid even though my data module has //description/para/emphasis element in it. Please let me know what should i be doing in order to catch my rule?

• Validation Before submit data of web service

HI guys,
I need ur help as I am using Adobe LiveCycle Designer 8.2 in desiging an offline eform that takes data from user and insert it in a DB using a WSDL of web service in the server . I had now the button that execute the web service method whose parameters are binded to some fields ,But I need to validate those field in time of submittion?
So I tried To write the validation script in the preExec event handler but if that right I need to know how to cancel execution event from preExec?
And if it not right Please help me in another way
Thank You.
Osama

To cancel the event (the submit in this case) you woudl use xfa.event.cancelAction = true;
This was added in version 8 I believe so if you are using a Reader/Acrobat earlier than that this will not work.
You could have your real submit button hidden and expose a regular button to the user for submission. This woudl allow you to write code on the regular button to check your validations and if they work out then you woudl hit the submit button programmatically:
buttonName.execEvent("click")
Hope that helps

Hi,
Just to check, can you try and hardcode the category in the rules itself...just for a test to see if it is working.
You can have the category mentioned as CATEGORY=ACTUAL in the rules itself for Other source dimension members and other destination members. J
This is to check if the validation package runs successfully or not.
Thanks,

• All FRM messages are suppressed after buissness rules validation

hello,
i've just discovered this really odd and annoying problem and I need some help. After validating business rules all forms messages are suppressed. If I re-enter the form, messages appear again, but are "visible" only till next business rules validation.
this is the scenario:
1. When I enter the form, I disable all business rules
2. I insert some data and commit. Message FRM-40400 appears.
3. I validate business rules by pressing button "Validate" (I call procedure which enables all business rules, calls procedure capi.validate_all_static_br, disables business rules and displays errors with Qms$errors.RaiseQMSFailure)
4. if i change some data and commit, message FRM-40400 does not appear.
I've done some debugging and discovered problem in qmslib65.pll package qms$forms_errors procedure push
PROCEDURE Push

- With new-style cdm ruleframe, v_msg contains 'ORA-20998'.
We never looked at v_servermsg because v_msg was not null.
- With old-style database trigger business logic, v_msg contains only text.
If we still never look at v_servermsg, we don't identify that the error is
a 20998 and therefore we raise an alert 'Transaction Failed' instead of
showing the 'Errors in this Transaction' window.

IMO, this part of code
ELSIF (INSTR (v_servermsg, 'ORA-20998') <> 0) OR
(INSTR (v_msg, 'ORA-20998') <> 0)
is either obsolete or incomplete. It should be something like this:
ELSIF (INSTR (v_servermsg, 'ORA-20998') <> 0 AND(v_msg IS NULL)) OR (INSTR (v_msg, 'ORA-20998') <> 0)
i would like to know if anyone have simmilar problem and if there are any other solutions then above mentioned.
Kind regards,

Is there already a solution for this problem?

• Upgrade Business rules with Calc Manager

Hello Gurus,
Recently performed an upgrade from 11.1.1.3 to 11.1.2.2 by replicating the Database to a new database machine.
I had Business rules in 11.1.1.3 and did not perform any steps to migrate the rules to Calculation manager in 11.1.2.2
The doubt I have is,
1. Are the business rules automatically upgraded when performing upgrade by EPM system configurator (since the database is replicated)
2. If so, how do I see the business rules in 11.1.2.2 environment? How can I use migrate feature option.
Thanks
HyperionEPM.

From 11.1.2.2 documentation:
Upgrade Wizard
If your application used Oracle Hyperion Business Rules, the Upgrade Wizard automatically converts Business Rules business rules to Oracle Hyperion Calculation Manager business rules. Release 11.1.2.2 supports onlyBusiness Rules business rules as the calculation module.
Notes:
•Classic application administration is now called Oracle Hyperion Planning application administration (versus Oracle Hyperion EPM Architect application administration).
•The Upgrade Wizard automatically upgrades applications having Oracle Hyperion Business Rules business rules, converting them to Calculation Manager business rules. However, the Upgrade Wizard does not automatically convert Release 11.1.2.1 applications having Oracle Hyperion Calculation Manager business rules. For those upgrade instructions, see the Oracle Enterprise Performance Management System Installation and Configuration Guide.
Business Rules Maintenance Release and Upgrade Installation PrerequisitesIf you are using Business Rules, you must migrate to Calculation Manager rules in Release 11.1.2.2. Before migrating business rules, you must perform prerequisite tasks. Note that these tasks are required if you are applying the maintenance release or if you are upgrading.
To prepare to migrate Business Rules, perform the following tasks in your current Business Rules environment before installing Release 11.1.2.2:
1.in Business Rules, within the Rule Editor, remove the associated outline (that is, the design time location) from each business rule. After you do this, the Associated Outline drop-down list should display the text, Select Outline.
2.On the Locations tab of the Rule Editor, ensure that each business rule has a valid launch location, which must be an absolute location. Although “All Locations” is valid in Business Rules, when you migrate business rules, you must provide the details of a specific launch location (that is, the application type---Planning or Essbase, the server name, the application name, and the database or plan type). If you want a business rule to be valid for multiple launch locations, you must provide the details for each location. The locations must be in different applications; you cannot migrate the same business rule to different plan types in the same application within Calculation Manager.
If the rule is a part of a sequence, then the launch location of the rule within the sequence must be one of the launch locations listed in the Locations tab of the rule.
3.On the Access Privileges tab of the Rule Editor, ensure that each business rule has security defined for a specific location or locations and not “All Locations.” If multiple locations are defined for a business rule on its Locations tab, you must add security for each location individually.
4.Do not modify rules in Calculation Manager until migration is completed.
5.If you are using Business Rules with Planning, as a precaution, create a backup of the rules: Use Administration Services to export the rules to XML in Business Rules format. If you are upgrading from 11.1.1.3 or 11.1.1.4, also export the rules to Calculation Manager format. EPM System Configurator exports the rules during database configuration for use during application upgrade.
6.If you are an Essbase-only Business Rules user, you must export business rules. To export the Essbase rule from Business Rules:
a.From Administration Services Console, right-click the Business Rules node and select Export.
b.Export the rules in Business Rules format and then select all of the Essbase rules in the repository. If you are upgrading from 11.1.1.3 or 11.1.1.4, also export the rules to Calculation Manager format.
c.Specify the location to save the XML file, and then click OK. If you are upgrading, the location should be a shared drive that is accessible from the upgraded environment.
Make a note of the location. You import the file later in the process.
Migrating Business Rules to Calculation Manager for use with Planning
If you applied the maintenance release to move from Planning Release 11.1.2.0 or 11.1.2.1 to Release 11.1.2.2, and you were using Business Rules rules, you must migrate the rules to Calculation Manager rules.
Before you migrate, ensure that user directories and native users with the same SID are available when you upgrade Shared Services.
Ensure that the Planning applications are upgraded to the current release and are available in Calculation Manager under SYSTEM View.
To migrate Business Rules rules to Calculation Manager rules:
1.In Calculation Manager, select the migrated Planning application, and then select Migrate.
The data that was exported during database configuration with EPM System Configurator is imported to Calculation Manager.
2.Repeat for each Planning application.
3.Deploy the rules from Calculation Manager to Planning. See the Oracle Hyperion Calculation Manager Designer's Guide.
After migrating business rules and rules security, if any of the rules had multiple launch locations and you migrated to more than one location, Calculation Manager creates a rule for the first migration, and shortcuts for all subsequent migrations. If the rule had rule-level variables, for the shortcuts that are created in the application in the new environment , its variables are moved to the Plan level. In this scenario, test rules in your environment to ensure that they work as expected.
If you still have problems, raise an SR and we can get on a call to figure out why the rules are not coming over.

• Fact Not Found Business Rules Error

Hi
I am encountering the following fault while executing one of the condition of the rule. The other condition works fine. Can anyone please tell me the reason for this error, I have asserted the fact with values and also am not getting any errors in the Business Rule Validation Messages, so i am not sure why I am encountering the following error.
<bpelFault><faultType>0</faultType><operationErroredFault xmlns="http://xmlns.oracle.com/CustOraBR4/CustOraBR4_DecisionService"><part name="payload"><errorInfo xmlns="http://xmlns.oracle.com/CustOraBR4/CustOraBR4_DecisionService"><errorMessage>Fact not found in the rule engine working memory, rule session execution failed. Hi,
Just checked my old backup file and you are right. It does not have the business rules. One reason I can think of is they are not part of UJFS structure and in fact uses a table driven. All the rules can found with the tables UJP*.
You can print them into html and copy into an excel. From there I think you have to manually copy into the target system. If you are using transport route, you do not have worry as the transports cover the table driven rules with the required config in the UJT_TRANS_CHG table.
Thanks,

• Network error in the business rule

Hello, Experts!
I have created a business rule, validated it but when I launch it, I get the message:
+"The client or server timed out waiting to receive data using TCP/IP. Check network connections. Increase the NetRetryCount and/or NetDelay values in the ESSBASE.CFG file. Update this file on both client and server. Restart the client and try again."+
The business rule works fine once I remove the following statement from it: @MEMBER(@CONCATENATE("A_", @SUBSTRING(@NAME(@CURRMBR("Entity")),6))) but it produces this error with this statement and I cannot do without this statement to perform the required calculation.
I would be very grateful for any hints on how to resolve it!

Hi,
Try creating manually the update rule.

• BUSINESS RULES FOR Vendor, Customer & PRODUCT

Can any one help me to provide Business Rules(Validation Rules) of Vendor, Customer & Product domain to be considered in integrating with other technologies.

Hi Joseph,
First tell me how you want to maintain Inventory size wise?? If it is your A is Length, B is Width and C is your Height and you are not maintaining size wise stock then use Length,Width and Height which is in Item master here you can set fix values and activate same columns in document and you can change it in document. But in this case you cannot maintain size wise stock
If you are maintaining stock size wise then you have to create new item code every time.
You cannot use BP catalog number for this.
Thanks
Sachin
