IMO after 12hr Tivo Premier Trial. Tivo and Verizon side by side.

Over the last year I have been a big Tivo fan and I still like my Tivo HD. BUT.............. Tivo Premier?????
Based on some of the things I have seen and heard. Verizon DVR with 1.9 img WILL beat the TiVO in many areas. If they get the guide right. The guide is one of, if not the biggest issues now. I have the TiVO Premier as of today and found the Cable Cards are portable as thought. I may wait for my second cable card to network the old with the new if it works, but with the Verizon img 1.9, I think it may just kick TiVOs bottom. I like some of the features of both. Shame we can't have our cake and eat it too.
Considering sending my Tivo Premier Back to Tivo.After 1st night's trial! Good News For Verizon! May cancel my second cable card order.
#1 The HD guide is nothing more than the SD Guide in HD format. Meaning no more data than the SD Guide.
#2 or #1 The HD Guide does not permit ANY parental controls and the box tells you, you must switch the DVR Back to SD for parental controls. WHAT A JOKE. Joke's on me!
#3 Tivo Premier all hype and no guts. Verizon's new DVR with img 1.9 will have all the hype and the guts to back it up. Kudos to Verizon!
#4 There are some advantages with Tivo, such as transferring content, but as new software and features are released content should become more portable with the Verizon DVR. Flex view needs work, and should offer more than what you buy on VOD. Recorded shows should be transferable to portable devices.
Overall I am not impressed with my $200 purchase and will be looking at a RMA for a credit on my purchase. I will keep my existing Tivo HD for now, but my new Tivo Premier is not all what it is promoted to be. I am not bashing another companies product, and like the product, but I am just posting my own personal opinion.
UPDATE:
TIVO Premier RMA in hand and TIVO is going back. My next upgrade will be a newer Verizon DVR.

I don't see a lot of need for the Tivo's anymore
now that you can get a DVR from Verizon and have the 1tb expansion with a clean fast running 7232. The 7232 with 1.9 software is truly the way to go. Especially if you need multi room viewing. In order to get multi room out of the tivo units, you have to have tivo units in each room, and not every shopper or customer out there is willing or able to spend that much upfront on Tivo equipment. It's a fine box, a polished interface, but the new 1.9 interface blows it out of the water for the most part
with Tivo you have a massive upfront investment, plus a monthly fee of about 16 bux a month comparable to the cost of a Verizon DVR, or you can add another upfront investment for a lifetime subscription.
If you want the multi-room functionality to work, you have to multiply that upfront investment times the amount of rooms that you want.
Not everyone can do that, or wants to do that.
The 7232 or 7216 with 1 TB expansion and the 1.9 will be future proof, as prisaz pointed out, and is a no hassle no fuss solution tailored for the masses. The only way I can see justifying a tivo at this point, is if I wanted to further off load my copied content to another PC, or upload it to the NET for back up purposes

Premiere Elements 9.0/9.0.1 and Premiere Elements 13 are standalone products.
So, you can have both on the same computer, but only open one for your work.
The classical recommendation is to finish a project in the version in which it was created since there
is no guarantee that a project from an earlier version will open in the later version. Probably will, but
no guarantees. And, when you do explore this, do it from a copy of the earlier version project. Once you
take the earlier version project into a later version one, you cannot go back to edit the later version edited
project in the earlier version program.
If you have both versions (9 and 13) on the same computer and you have not moved, deleted, renamed any of the version 9's files/folders,
right click the saved closed Premiere Elements 9.0/9.0.1 project file, select Open With, and then Adobe Premiere Elements 13.
(Your 9.0/9.0.1 saved closed project file should be found in Libraries/Documents/Adobe/Premiere Elements/9.0.)

Is there a Premier Pro trial anymore, and if so, where is it?

Some of the experts in the hardware forum, after seeing my hardware, have recommended that I try out Premier Pro with the 30 day trial to see how it works with my workstation. I went looking for the trial, and along the way, someone came online with a chat window and asked if he could help me. I explained, and I could tell he was pointing me toward a Creative Cloud trial (something that I don't want to use). I explained that I was looking for a Premier Pro trial, not the CC, and he said he undstood. He put a link in his window, and I fired it off thinking I was where I needed to be. Unfortunately, it downloaded the application for Creative Cloud, which is what I didn't need.
I also separately found files for the Premier Pro program and downloaded them (4 files, just under 2 gigabytes). But those don't look like a trial, rather they look like replacement files for the purchased program.
I've looked all over the Adobe website, and read the entries I could find here on a Premier Pro trial, and still can't get to the trial
Can anyone here help me find the trial for Premier Pro? Or if it doesn't exist, should I give the CC trial version a try, and will that be representative of how the program will perform if I buy the Premier Pro.

Thanks for the very valuable information on this. I agree strongly with your comments at the end of your post that the nomenclature and how it is used in the Adobe website is confusing. Your discussion and notes above will help me a lot. People who work with this product line all the time are probably asking themselves, "what's so confusing about this?" But that is because their knowledge of the product nomenclature has built up over the years. and it is all brand new to me.
Here is how I got here. I've worked for years with sometimes buggy software (Pinnacle Studio) that got the job done. So I was looking for new and stable editing software, and maybe might have gotten around to Adobe Premiere Elements. I bought a new, fairly powerful HP workstation. When I tried running a trial version of Cyberlink's PowerDirector on it, it worked pretty well, but locked up occasionally. Cyberlink has responsive tech support, but they were concerned that the fact that I was using a "Workstation" might have caused the lockup (??). Later they suggested it might have been the fact that the workstation had a nVidia Quadro 2000 video card. So that issue (the lockups) hasn't been resolved.
Somehow through searches on the Internet, I ended up on your hardware forum, and after giving me advice, some of the people said there that I'd be a lot happier just moving up to Adobe Premier Pro or Creative Cloud, which would be much more stable, and benefit in performance from the specs on my workstation. They also suggested running the trial. So I decided to take a serious look at it, to insure it would solve the lockup problem.
And that was a month ago. While I've not worked it every day, I've been in and out of your websites often since then, trying to find a way to try the software with my hardware. Maybe that is tidbit to pass along to your Marketing department.
One more question: I'm looking for a stable and fast video editing program that can do some basic functions, like slow-mo and fast speed, insert pictures into videos, crop and re-grow to full size video clips, moving menus, maybe picture in picture, and some way of normalizing sound levels across a whole video. All of that is available in the Cyberlink program, so I'm expecting that it would also be in a basic Premiere Pro program. But on my search through your websites, I thought I saw something about Creative Suite (CS6, right?) that was more like an add-in to Premiere Pro. But in your message above, it sounds like CS6 is just a version number for Premiere Pro. Can you clarify, perhaps suggeting what I should buy if this works?

Video studder, iMovie, EyeTV, Tivo and iDVD

Video stutter has been discussed elsewhere. I have tried all solutions that I have read. My problem seems to be with the following, and I was hoping someone could explain the reason for the problem, and possible solution(s).
I have recorded a show on my DirecTV Tivo. The show was transferred to VHS tape . Then imported to the computer through EyeTV. Exported from EyeTV through EyeTV's "export to iMovie" feature. Video was edited and sent to iDVD.
Video, when played back in iMovie from the computer was fine. The burned DVD has the studder.
I tried using the same iMovie file in Toast 8 and the video is fine. However Toast does not have the sophistication of iDVD, so not an option.
Using another Tivo , and using Tivo download manager, I brought a show directly into the computer. Here I did the same as before with iMovie and iDVD. All worked well, video was smooth.
So it appears that the issue is somewhere in the chaos of all the transfers.
I still have all the shows on tape that I really want to burn to disc.
Are there any suggestions.

In lieu of a minidv camcorder, you could substitute a Firewire/digital <=> analog media converter box like a Canopus or Sony DA1 or DA2 connected to a standard vcr player/recorder. (I prefer using only firewire devices. USB tends to be a bit more problematic for video on most macs).

Hi there guys! I´m very, very, VERY close to buy a full configuration iMac (the late 2012 27" model) but I have reed in different forums that Adobe Premier Pro CS6 and other applications from Adobe such as After Effects DO NOT support the graphic cards found in the new iMacs....

i really wouldn´t understad the logic behid the decission of picking a graphic card that is not supported by one of the leading video editing sofrware used today.... specially when this computer is suppoused to be an Editing Animal....

Today I got an answer from Larry Jordan from his blog (I believe he is one of the "videoguys" from http://videoguys.com and he said that actually adobe does not support those GPU that we will find in the new late 2012 iMacs. However it seems there is a way to make that work out.....
here is his review on his new iMac, at the very botton you will see comments from people and his answers... one of the last coments is mine regarding this subject, this is what I asked and his answer:

TIVO to TIVO and Express

My two Series II TIVOs can see my AP Snow base station, the Internet (connected to my cable router via ethernet), can be see with TIVO Desktop on my iMac and Dell Win XP, but they cannot see each other. I've done all the TIVO things but no joy (used to work in another house and I don't want to move things around in this house).
My AP Express profile works fine for my wireless speakers in the back yard.
I want to setup another profile where the TIVOs will use Express when it is placed next to them. SO far that configuration eludes me.
1. I think I want to set up Express as a remote base station extending the signal so the TIVO's USB adapters get the strongest signal possible. How is this done? Speaker and USB ports will not be used on the Express.
2. I want the TIVO to TIVO transfers to either:
- go through Express wirelessly, if fast enough; or
- use an Ethernet hub attached to the Express and connect the TIVOs to the hub for "a direct hard wire transfer". The TIVOs still need to get to the internet via the AP main base station for their updates.
I'm not sure WDS will work:
- there are two non-Apple) Linksys USB 802.11b and one Dell Mini WiFi 11b adapters) in play.
- can separate WDS and Itunes speaker profiles co-exist?
If WDs will work, how do I set up up? It sounds like a pain to correct if I get it wrong.
Before upgrading to 802.11g, I'm holding out for 11n and mixed adapter support from Apple.

All I can tell you is how I set it up. I have 2 Macs, a Xbox 360, 2 dual tuner series II TiVos, and a single tuner series II TiVo, all running on a wireless 802.11g network created with a AirPort Extreme and an AirPort Express. I live in a townhouse, so we run 128 bit WEP (since the TiVos won't recognize WPA security) with a 13 digit password (dictated by the Xbox). All TiVos use official TiVo brand 11g USB adapters, and the Xbox uses it's 360 brand adapter. The Express is wirelessly slaved to the Extreme using the AirPort Utility, so I can play my iTunes downstairs on the iMac right next to the Extreme and direct it through the speakers plugged into the Express upstairs. Works like a charm, all the while allowing the transfer of programs recorded on 1 TiVo wirelessly to any other TiVo. The only problem is that the TiVos tend to restart every once and a while. It happens if you leave it alone for a few hours, and then attempt to watch something. If you unplug the wireless adapter it won't restart. TiVo support recognizes the problem and are supposedly working on a fix. They only know it is a problem with wireless adapters so they haven't promised when they will fix it. Any way, I hope this helps.
Oh yeah, I forgot that my wife is also on the network with her piece of crap Dell laptop and a T-Mobile wireless card.

Uninstalled Premier Elements 10, want to reinstall. Can I just download trial version and enter SR from uninstalled version?

Elements Premier became corrupted and freezing computer. As I understood the directions, I uninstalled, including options on uninstall wizard. I now want to download and reinstall using my paid for and registered Serial Numbers. Is this correct. If not, please advise proper reinstall.

Yes with following explanation.
Adobe offers only the trial version of Premiere Elements (current version = Premiere Elements 12/12.1).
But, you can download the appropriate trial of Premiere Elements 10 from the following web site
http://prodesigntools.com/photoshop-elements-10-direct-download-links-pse-premiere-pre.htm l
and insert your version 10 purchased serial number in the appropriate installation files.
Be sure to read and carry out the Note: Very Important Instructions at that web site so that you do not run
into an Access Denied message.
Keep in mind that if you purchased the serial number online from Adobe, it will be specific to a Windows OR Mac computer.
A version 10 serial number purchased for a download to a Windows computer is not going to work for Premiere Elements 10 on a Mac
computer.

I don't suppose there is ANY WAY to get video playback from a TIVO to play back on an iMac? I mean without burning a DVD or something like that.

Oh My GAWD does eyeTV work very well? Are you a crazy person? (thaz a joke!)
eyeTV 200 is better than Tivo! And I have both! I also have a 42" Plasma TV but would rather watch my 20" Intel iMac - now you can call me crazy!
I use eyeTV 200 to feed all of my VHS videos into my Intel iMac (yes the eyeTV 200 software is Universal!) and I sit and watch television in my iMac all the time either full screen in excellent quality or fit to screen or double screen or normal screen - you name it. You can use eyeTV200 to schedule recording just as you would with TIVO.
Now you can record to TIVO, buy a descrambler and connect it between your TIVO and Intel iMac and record that way but geez, just get yourself a used eyeTV200 from anyone willing to sell you one. Or buy a new one. I bought mine used on eBay and you'd never know it was used at all.

Consolidating Trial Libraries and Moving to External Drive

Okay, as usual, I am here because I want to do this right, and you folks usually know the best way!
Here's what I am trying to do:
1. Consolidate libraries: Currently, in Aperture (v. 3.0.3), I inadvertently have 3 libraries. They are the most current library, labeled "Aperture 3 Trial Library," which contains every picture I have taken since upgrading to Aperture 3, and two other libraries, labeled "Aperture Trial Library" and "Aperture Trial Library (1)," which are libraries from my initial trial of Aperture 2, which occurred about a week before the debut of Aperture 3. (Great timing on my part!) These last two libraries contain imports of my iPhoto library, which I have not used since.
I am not sure if the iPhoto libraries are managed or referenced in Aperture. I believe they are referenced, but don't know how to check. All other photos were imported directly into Aperture, and are stored in its library.
I would like to consolidate these libraries into one. And it would be great if it didn't have to be called "Aperture 3 Trial Library!"
2. Relocate Masters to an external drive: I have purchased a LaCie 1 Tb d2 Quadra external drive (understanding after the fact that there may be associated power cord issues). I would like to relocate ALL of the masters to this drive. I am unsure what this will mean for my previous iPhoto pictures, which is why I want to consolidate the libraries first.
I am not worried about using iPhoto at this point, and am willing to re-import the entire library to iPhoto if I ever need to switch back.
Right now, all I want to do is get one, clean library that has all of my photos in it, and all of the masters in one place on an external drive so that I know where everything is.
What is the best way to go about this? I'd like to get it done today, if possible.

I have not personally moved Masters much so I will let others comment, or if you search old threads you should find info.
You did not discuss Referenced versus Managed Masters. IMO *create a Referenced-Masters-Library with the Library on the MB and the Masters on the external drive.* Separately fully back up original images prior to importing into Aperture.
Note that Vaults back up the Library but a Referenced-Masters Library does not have the Masters in it, so Masters must be separately backed up.

Warning that 30 day trial expired and I need to license my copy

I have the creative cloud suite and I am getting ready to graduate college. I noticed something recently. Sense a couple days ago I cannot use premier pro even after I uninstalled and reinstalled it. I can use all the other creative cloud programs and photoshop, indesign, etc, however I cannot use premiere. When I click to open premier it says something about some 30 day trial expired and I need to license my copy. That's what I don't understand since I'm paying for creative cloud.
I'm not sure what else to do.
Any ideas would be gratefully accepted

Why does my Elements 12 ask me to enter Program Key after the product has been used and registered

I have had Elememts 12 for several months ... when I bought it ...I downloaded the program and registered it ... now ... every once in a while the program asks me to enter the Key number as if I never registered it ... also sometimes I get a message about my 30 day trial ...

I purchased Elements 12 not the Premier addition .... the disk Elements 12 comes with a trial version of Premier ... I did not install the 30 day trial version .... maybe t is Adobe trying to sell me the Premier addition ... I will pay more attention the next time the message comes up ... after reading some of the posts, I think that is what is happening ... I will have to wait ... someone wrote that they had the same problem and after a while, the message stopped appearing .... as I indicated .... I will look more carefully the next time I see the message...

I am trying to get through all your recent replies to go back to your post numbered 8.
1. Go to Control Panel/Programs and determine if you have Premiere Elements 12 and Photoshop Elements 12 installed.
2. When you have gotten the try out dialog, what program is mentioned in the dialogs - Premiere Elements 12 or Photoshop Elements 12?
3. The fundamental question is what did you purchase
a Photoshop Elements 12
b. Premiere Elements 12
c. Photoshop Elements 12 and Premiere Elements 12
From what you wrote it sounds like Photoshop Elements 12. Premiere Elements 12 seems to have come along as a tryout.
4. If Premiere Elements 12 is a tryout, after 30 days from first install of it, you should not be able to use it without a purchased serial number specific for Premiere Elements 12.
5. If you have no interest in Premiere Elements 12 tryout, uninstall it if it is installed. If it is not installed, then it is not the cause of your trial messages. But, I offer you this thought. Are these really License This Product/Continue Trial messages or are they really promotional dialogs (ads) put on your computer by Adobe who knows you have Photoshop Elements 12 and are trying to get you interested in Premiere Elements as well?
Please review and consider.

Difference in Open Balance As per Trial Balance and General Ledger in SAP

1 ) Whle generating trial balance in SAP B1 for one Business master there is a difference in Opening Balance as per Trial Balance and as per General Ledger how ever closing balance in matching.
Difference As follows

Is it possible the open balnce should be same in both report. The opening balance as per GL report is correct.
2) I have run the period end closing for Apr- 2010 to Mar 2011 after that I generated the traial balance for Apr-1-2011 where the opening balances for expense account and revenue account is showing technically after period end closing the balance become zero for all closing balance revenue and expenses accounts.
Please note that there are some entries in revenue and expense account in on 1st apr. 2011.
Please guide on this.

Hi,
I think you should re-visit the selection creteria for the Trial balance.
The Display Opening Balance has two options. If you select from 'Start of Company activity', then it will include every balance of previous year.
Check for the Display Closing balance option as well. As you have performed the Period End closing, the checkbox options can have an impact on the outcome in the report.
Check the selection again.

Cs5.5 master collection wont install After Effects or Premier

Just upgraded from CS4 to CS5.5 and installation errors on After effects and Premier. I'm running windows 7 64 bit pro service pack 1,Duel x5650 xeons, 24 gigs of memory, 250 gb ssd. Before installing CS5 I uninstalled cs4. After the first installation error I unistalled cs5, ran the AdobeCreativeSuiteCleanerTool.exe, and removed all the adobe folders from my program files and program files(x86) folders. I've spent the last 4 hours searching for a solution, no luck yet though. I don't have any user account controls set. I think it's a font permision problem but don't know. I called adobe tech support, but no luck. Any help would be apprecieated. the following is the error code.

Thanks. I tried the all the steps in the link you provided. Plus a few others from adobe support, I spent about 4 ½ hours on the phone with them over the past 2 days. I reinstalled all the Microsoft payloads, updated my video drivers, admin privileges, closed all my services and startups, uninstalled adobe air, flash player, deleted a few fonts from my system, although that was a pain because I had to go into safe mode to delete them, and I lost track off the rest. I haven’t had any troubles installing any other software, including CS4.
Here is the new error when I try to install either after effects or Premier
