IMove HD 6.0.2 Updater or Combo updater?

Can anyone suggest the best route to take to update iMove HD 6.0.1? Should I use the basic updater or the combo - Apple does not distinguish on the web site between either?
Initially I used the Combo updater, but it still seems to run incredibly slowly on a G5/1.8DP with 4Gb RAM. I am also having trouble applying (or removing) the Ken Burns effects to still image sequences placed in iMovie. Whatever I do now will not override the setting which displays the images in close up - I can't get the zoom or pan to work.
Any suggestions would be very much appreciated.

There's an iMovie 6 bug that makes it impossible to update an existing Ken Burns clip that was imported with the KB checkbox on. See this topic:

I doubt the update method matters. No one has mentioned a difference here that I've seen.
The difference between the two is that the Combo updater updates from iMovie 6 to iMovie 6.0.2, while the basic updater can update only 6.0.1 to 6.0.2,
I prefer Combo updaters, just to avoid having to retain each update.
Slow has been a problem for some users for several versions of iMovie. There are lots of threads here discussing it. Search for words like "stutter", "slowdown", etcetera.

You can undo a lot of changes, either via changing settings or prefs on the <b>about:config</b> page or via extensions.

Do a clean reinstall of the version that you want to use.
Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.

I'm dealing with this same issue. At one point, it did recognize the Update function but then said it could not import the cache.mov and plist files which apparently means that imovie 10 can't see any of these past events. I can't figure it out.

You are confusing two different versions of the iMovie app. You have downloaded an update to the boxed version that Apple sold in the past. Yoi cannot update the version that Apple now sells in the Mac App Store with that update.

Do you see two versions of iMovie in your Application folder?
You can drag the icons out of the dock and then drag what you want back to the dock from the Application folder.

I also have Jolly's problem. I found the iMovie 9.0.9 folder and tried to launch the older version of iMove. It would not launch. I removed all of the iMovie preferences from the Preferences folder, removed iMove 10 from the applications folder, and restarted my Mac. iMove 9.0.9 still won't launch and I can't access my videos created with the older version of iMovie. Is there a way to uninstall iMovie 10 and reinstall iMovie 9.0.9?

Deleting and redownloading will not fix it unless it shows as part of your purchases, which it likely doesn't.
The resolution will depend on how you got the app in the first place. Check my response here Lost iWorks apps after Yosemite clean install different app, but same thing.
If your Mac came with the dvd version, you never tied them to your Apple ID (assuming eligibility to do so), sometimes signing out/in from the App Store fixes it, allowing you to accept under purchases (see my other post). Otherwise, you'll need to contact Apple.

IPhoto/iMovie not showing eligible for update in Mac App Store

I understand that with the release of Mavericks, anyone with early versions of iWork or iLife apps are able to update to the current version free of charge.
I know that this works for the iWork apps but I'm having problems with the iLife apps (iPhoto and iMovie).
I was able to re-install the iWork apps (Numbers, Pages, Keynote) from the iWork install DVD that I had. After installing them, the Mac App Store recognized the apps and I was able to proceed with the upgrade.
Unfortunately, I'm not having the same luck with the iLife apps. I had to install both iPhoto and iMovie from the Applications Install DVD that I received when I originally purchased my MBP. I was able to successfully install the two apps, but now when I go into the Mac App Store, it doesn't seem to recognize that I've got the apps on my computer - it only gives me the option to purchase the apps.
Any thoughts on how I can get the updates to iPhoto and iMovie? It seems to be related to how I installed them (as I selectively installed these two apps from the Install DVD), but I've got no idea as to how I can get the upgraded version.

No. You may have to contact App Store support to get this resolved.
Unfortunately there's not been a universal solution found for this problem.

If iMovie is incompatible with the iPad first gen, why does it keep asking me to update, then fail? It forces me to update all ther apps individually instead of allowing update all.

Your stuck in the loop of annoyance.
I'm in the same boat.
It's just the way it is.
There are fixes that do not involve jail breaking, but I cannot discuss them here.
I suggest you google around for a fix.

Has your Apple ID changed, that's the one that matters.
You need to sign in under the account that purchased these apps (did you buy this Mac new)

Cancel the updates. Delete the apps. Redownload them from the Purchases tab in the App Store.

IMovie and iPhoto App Store update has alternate email address for user name. how do I fix this??

The most recent updates to iPhoto and iMovie, that are in the App Store updates, has my alternate email address for my user name. I can't log into the update because I don't know the password. I have changed my user name to reflect the correct email address, but it still prompts as the alternate email address. Any ideas as how to fix??
