IMovie 08 Share-iDVD error -108 *Help Quick!!

I am really in a pickle! I spent upwards of 48 hours creating a slideshow of still pictures in iMovie for my wedding in 2 weeks. This is my first time using either iMovie or iDVD. I had no luck getting iDVD to customize the slideshow as I wanted it to look, so a friend suggested iMovie. My project is now finished and I am attempting to burn it to a DVD for my DJs to play. When I do Share> iDVD, it processes the project for about 2 minutes then says it was "unable to prepare the project due to an error (-108)."
Can anyone help PLEASE!!
THANKS!

Hi
a. Isn't it so that You in Share select Media Browser. Then in iDVD import from here.
b. iMovie'08 & 09 are not the optimal tools for DVD making. Due to that they discard every second line
in interlaced video to DVD resulting in less sharp picture.
I use
• iMovie HD6, FotoMagico™, FinalCut Express or FinalCut Pro - to get best possibly result.

    HI,
    PLEASE NEED HELP!!!!
After install LION a problem came out when I try to "share" my proyects, the funny thing is that only fails when I "share" to iPhone and iPad!, when i "share" to MAC and PC (1080p) it works wreat. the ERROR CODE -108 from QUICK TIME came out.
I found that -108 means 'out of memory' but in my case is not possible (i think). I reinstalled the FCP X but the problem remain.
I want to reinstall Quick time X but looks like it can't be unistalled, so any idea?
    Thanks!
    My MAC PRO 2010 setup:

What is the exact spec of the clips that cause the problem?

  • IMovie 08  v 7.1.1 - Can't export - Error -108 - Help Please!

    Please can anyone help?
I'm a new Mac user and have just imported and edited my first iMovie. I tried to export it (assuming I could then burn it to a DVD?) but never got that far.
I'm attempting to export it as a 'large movie' to Finder.
I get an error telling me it has been 'unable to prepare the movie for publishing due to an error (error code -108)'
Please has anyone got any ideas if I'm doing something wrong?
    Thanks!
    D

Looking up error -108, I got a lot of hits on goggle about memory errors returning error -108.
On this hunch, I simply rebooted my Mac Pro.
I opened iMovie 7.1.1, and exported the same file, no problem.
So it must be a memory leak or some sort of memory related issue. (I have 4 gigs of ram in my machine.

  • Imovie and Idvd errors from Itunes

since the recent Itunes 7.3 update I have problems with using my songs in Imovie and Idvd - I get an error message that my machine is not authorized. I have re-authoriezed, etc , etc ever time and the icessant message comes up and my DVD has no sound

I have this same exact problem and applecare claims to not be able to help . .. referred me to email itunes. . . who said they only handle billing and such issues and said to come here.
Well that does little to help. I finished a great vacation imovie last week with music and all. Worked great as always. I did not burn the DVDs for family because I was waiting to add a few more pictures. Then there was an itunes update. I did it. . . got the pics added the next day . . . and all of the sudden. . . no music and the dang authorization nightmare.
I am just a bit relieved that it is not just me, but it's awful just the same. Had to be the update. My music plays fine on itunes and burns CDs. . . but no on the imovie and forget idvd then.
I am VERY frustrated and disppointed and looking everywhere for answers or resoluation.
Now I have a project with no music. itunes and imovie make mac for us.
Any help is greatly welcomed and will be appreciated.

    Hi Folks

I have just recently put together a small movie of about 10 mins long. The problem is after I select idvd the movie starts to process but when it gets to the burning stage of the movie it returns back an error something along the lines as multiplexer error can anyone advise what this means??
    Kind Regards

    Hi r-o-t-m and welcome!
We are always gentle the first time!
We need more details in order to help you. Please advise what OS you have, how big the hard disk, how much space left on it, and how much RAM your have. Also what version of iMovie and iDVD you are running.
Secondly, please advise what media (make and type of DVD blanks) you are using and, if possible, at what speed you were attempting to burn it.

  • IMovie export problem (error -108)

Just wondering who out there is experiencing problems with finalising and exporting projects in iMovie 11. I may have found one reason for this problem. I've been playing around with the video effects and when I export a simple 20 second clip with using the "Hard Light" effect I have problems exporting. I changed the effect to something else, "Vignette", for example, and it exports fine! Has anyone else found this or maybe if you're having problems, try to export the movie without having used the effect. It would be interesting to hear if there's a problem with using the "Hard Light" effect. I've just bought the latest MacBook Pro 13" 4GB 2.4GHz with Lion 10.7.3.
    Thanks

  • Imovie 09 crashes when I try to share/idvd...help!

I have been working on an imovie project and finally finished but it wont send/share to idvd.  It keeps crashing...can anyone help?

Not knowing the origin to Your problem - General approach when in trouble is as follows.
    • Free space on internal (start-up) hard disk if it is less than 10Gb should rather have 25Gb
    • Delete iMovie pref file - or rather start a new User account and log into this
(as this makes the Mac to make lot's of new error free pref files)
    iMovie pref file resides.
    Mac Hard Disk (start-up HD)/Users/"Your account"/Library/Preferences
and is named. (one or more of these)
    com.apple.iMovie.plist
    com.apple.iMovie3.plist
    com.apple.iMovie7.plist
    com.apple.iMovie8.plist
    com.apple.iMovie9.plist
    and find
    com.apple.iApps.plist
While iMovie is NOT RUNNING - move this/these file/s out on to desk-top.
    Now restart iMovie.
    • Hard disk is untidy. Repair Permissions, Repair Hard disk (Apple’s Disk Utilities application)
    • Disconnect all external hard disks and try - FireWire, USB/2, AirPort or Net-work connected.
To work OK I prefere FireWire AND it must be Mac OS Extended formatted - UNIX/DOS/FAT32/Mac OS Exchange - WILL NOT DO for video - neither for iMovie or FinalCut or iDVD any version ! This also includes any USB-memory sticks.
    • Garageband-fix. Start it, Play a note and Close it. Re-try (Corrects an audio problem that hinders iMovie)
    • Screen must be set to Million-colors
    • Turn off Mac and disconnect Mains/Power for 20-30 minutes - will at least re-set FW-port
    • Third party plug-ins that doesn't work OK (not relevant for iMovie’08 or 09 or 11)
    • Problems in iPhoto Library can affect iMovie to crash on start-up. Re-build this first then try to re-start iMovie.
    This You do by
    _ close iPhoto
    _ on start up of iPhoto - Keep {cmd and alt-keys down}
_ now select all five options presented
_ WAIT a long long time
    • iMovie updated ?

    • Program miss-match. iMovie 4 - will not work under Leopard
    • Program miss-match. iMovie 5.0.2, up to Mac OS X.4.11 AND QuickTime 7.4.1 - is OK
    • Program miss-match. iMovie 6.0.3 or 6.0.4, Mac OS X.4.11 AND QuickTime 7.4.1 - is OK (will work under Leopard and Snow-Leopard)
    • Program miss-match. iMovie’08 v. 7.1.4, Mac OS X.4.11 AND QuickTime 7.5.5 - is OK (will work under Leopard and Snow-Leopard)
    • Program miss-match. iMovie’09 v. 8.0.6, Mac OS X.5.8 AND QuickTime 7.6.4 - is OK (will work under Leopard and Snow-Leopard)
From LKN 1935. (in this case = iMovie HD (5), I tried it all, but nothing worked.
Your answer (above) has been helpful insofar as all the different trials led to the conclusion that
there was something wrong with my iMovie software. I therefore threw everything away and reinstalled
iMovie from the HD. After that the exportation of DV videos (there has not been any problem with HDV videos)
to my Sony camcorders worked properly as it did before.

I run "Cache Out X", clear out all caches and restarts the Mac.

  • IMovie to iDVD: Error: Need to change to Best quality

I think this must be a bug in iLife 06, create a project in iMovie 6, it will be less then 2 hours long but longer then one hour. Share out to iDVD and you get an error that the files are too large and you should change to Best Quality. Change is made to Best quality but the error still returns, there is no way to get rid of this error with the current iDVD project. Solution: Export the iMovie project (I always use Full Quality) and then drag into the iDVD theme of your choice and it will burn. This happens on my Macs at home and all of the Macs I manage at the university with iLife 06. Has anyone else seen this problem?

But you didn't say you made the change in both places. This needed to be done by someone a couple of days ago.
You can also try this, but you'll have to reset Prefs:
This frequently helps solve some problems. Quit iDVD. Search for the file named com.apple.iDVD.plist and trash it. (A new one will be created next launch of iDVD.) Or look in: User/Library/Preferences. This may solve project loading errors too. Restart and use Disk Utility to Repair Permissions.

  • IMovie to iDVD Error

I just installed iLife09 and have put together a movie of our vacation using many photo's an some video. Al went well and I was amazed as to how easy it was to put it all together, with music, sound effect and titles.
However I wanted to make copies and share it with my family but that is where the trouble started. My first thought was to put it together and burn a DVD but I found out that it had to be transferred to iDVD first. So I went to share and selected iDVD and it started some type of download and it took 8 hours, once it finished I got a message that the file was too big (on the iMovie it was 2 hrs 17 min. So I cut the iMovie down to where it was at 1 hr 20 min and started another transfer which took 4 hours this time, but I still got the error message that the file was to big. I also tried media browser which took another 8 hours but now I can not find that file.
    Can anyone help me Please?
    Thanks
    Don

  • When i am trying to type my licence key i get an error need help quick!

when i am typing my serial number into adobe photoshop cs6 i get an error can someone other get me an other key please

Nope, sorry, not on a user to user help forum.
I hope you haven't waited for this response before taking other action.  You'll need to call Adobe customer support on the telephone to resolve licensing issues.
Anticipating your next question, the phone number is available from Adobe's web site.  Look at each page and imagine where they might have hidden it.  Hint:  Start with MENU.

  • IPodService.exe Error  --- Please help quickly.

I kept having problems connecting my iPod to iTunes, so I uninstalled iTunes and when I went to reinstall it, it said this:
"Error Writing to the file C:Program Files/iPod/bin/iPodService.exe. Verify that you have access to that directory."
So I went to that folder and I clicked on the iPodService.exe and it said this:
    "C:Program Files/iPod/bin/iPodService.exe is not a valid Win32 application."
Does anyone know what I should do?

I'm having exactly the same problem... does anyone know how to fix this?

  • IDVD error message when sharing from imovie

    1. When "sharing" from imovie to idvd, error message appears reading: "unable to publish project due to error-41."
    2. Successfully "shared" once, with the first clip upside down.
    Thank you for your insights.

    Hi
Most probably it's the Start-Up/Boot/Mac OS hard disk that has less than 5Gb free space.
To let iDVD run OK - This Start-up hard disk should have 25Gb or more due to that
Your Mac is running a sort of UNIX (Mac OS) and this makes Mac OS and iDVD to use
lot's of temp files - AND they can not be addressed to any other hard disk at all.
More RAM - will not help
External/Second hard disk will if You first formatte it as Mac OS Extended and
move material over to this (or use it as Start-up hard disk)
External Start-up hard disk must be FireWire - NO USB2 will do this.
Must be Mac OS Extended formatted
Western Digital - My Book Serie - Can't do this.
My Lacie - works gladly as secondary start-up hard disk.
