IMovie 09 disappears!

Okay so let me start off by saying i have found a "bandage " for this problem.... But no real solution. I have a second screen that I sometimes hook up to my laptop. But when I unhook the second screen and use my Laptop at another time i find that imovie(imovie is the only program I seem to have problems with) will look like its on but there is nothing there. When i go to Expose it shows up but when I click it, it disappears.
I have tried all types of different things but no real "fix".
For all those who want to know what my "bandage" was i got it of "macosxhints".

Jack Aksan wrote://...
- Move the actual project clips to an external HD
- Delete the event and project on iMovie folder
- Do a "File" ---> "Import --> Movies" from the external HD where your clips are.
- Re-edit the project and event.
I had the same problem yesterday but thanks to Jack Aksan's advice I solved it. I did'nt follow all the steps thou. For my it worked when i did this:
Right click on the clip that has no sound to find it in Finder. (in library pane or in the project window)
Then move the errant clip/s to another folder
Erase the errant clips in iMovie from the library pane and the project window
Do a "File" ---> "Import --> Movies" from the folder where your previously moved clips are.
Re-edit the project and it will work.
Good luck everyone!

  • Iphoto imovie disappeared any thoughts ?

i recover my mack book pro on izone or someplace called like that before 2 month  just notice that iphoto and imovie disappeared .. i didnt purchase it it come when i buy the macbook

iPhoto and iMovie are only to be found on iLife retail, or the prebundled installer discs that came with the computer on the Additional Applications installer.

  • IMovie disappeared, macbook only 3 days old, No disk??

I bought my Macbook pro only 3 days ago all was well until imovie disappeared from desktop/applications... everywhere. All that is left is a grey question mark where it once was and the imovie folders. After doing a little digging and reading similar problems encounterd by others it would seem if i had an instillation disk the situation would be easily solved but i don't, it came with everything installed.
Any suggestions as to what i can do to resolve this?

    2.3  sorry

  • Imovie disappeared & installation errors

    hello!
imovie was working fine until.. i dragged the imovie icon out of applications and onto the doc. i went to open it from the doc but nothing happened so i dragged it back into applications and it disappeared in a puff of smoke.
imovie totally disappeared! i've got my hardrive split in two and it wasn't in the second one either.. although the last project's files were saved in the second harddrive.
anyway so i searched for it and I found the install package. i try to install it but i after clicking install, it tries for a few seconds until i get a message 'there were errors trying to install the software'.
can anyone help? i've re-started, tried installing it in both harddrives.. do i need to get the plugin folders and the .pkg all in one place? they're all in applications..
    thanks

    Hi Toni
    My thouhts (I would):
    - Search with cmd-F and select other and all hard disks.
    - Can it be in the trach-can ?
    I would run:
    - Repair Permissions (Apple Disk Util tool)
    - Repair Hard disk (Apple Disk Util tool) Youn need to start from CD/DVD or
    external hard disk
You indicate that You use Mac OS X.4.2 how about up-grade to X.4.9 ?
Search with cmd-F again - No luck ?
Then try to install again now after - repair programs.

  • IMovie disappeared after iLife 08 upgrade

Hi, I installed iLife '08 on my Powerbook G4 and now iMovie has disappeared. What did I do wrong? Any help is appreciated!

iMovie '08 is not compatible with G4 processors. iMovie HD '06 should still be there (do a spotlight search?) otherwise you can download it again:
    The file isn't large:

  • Why are my iMovies disappearing?

I am using iMovie in my classroom and students' projects sometimes disappear. Any idea why or how to correct it?

Just throwing this in the mix. My contacts had disappeared as well a couple of days ago. Very upsetting. I tried a couple of things with no effect. This morning I turned my 4s iphone off, turned it back on. Went to contacts and with no contacts showing as before, I decided i would try adding a new one. I created a contact by the name of test, and saved without further info added and all my contacts came back. Don't know why but that's what happened. Good luck.
P.S. Come on Apple get the fix out on this, between the music app that doesn't play and the contacts disappearing, you're freaking us out.

  • HT2479 iMovie disappeared from desktop, tried to download version from web, says I need updated operating system

What happened to iMovie? I clicked on it and it disappeared from my desktop.

    Hello there, mtreleven311.
You likely havent lost the application, you most likely just lost the icon on the dock. To re-add the iMovie icon, follow the following steps:
    Mac Basics: The Doc
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2474
    Adding and removing Dock items
If you want to add an application to the Dock, click the Launchpad icon in the Dock and drag the application icon to the Dock; the icons in the Dock will move aside to make room for the new one. If you want to add a file or folder to the Dock, just drag its icon from any Finder window (or the desktop) and drop it on the Dock. The resulting icon that appears in the Dock is actually an alias of the original item (it's kind of a pointer to your original item). If you drag an application or file onto the Dock, you'll be able to open it anytime by simply clicking its docked icon. If you drag a folder onto the Dock, a Finder window of the folder's contents will display when you click the folder icon in the Dock.
To remove an item from the Dock, drag its icon an inch or more off the Dock and wait a couple seconds, then release; the icon will disappear in a poof of smoke. There are some icons that you can't remove from the Dock, such as the Trash and the Finder.
Don't worry, you aren't permanently removing the item from your computer; you simply got rid of its Dock icon. If you want that item back in the Dock, locate the application, file, or folder in the Finder (or with Spotlight), and drag it back into the Dock.
Tip: You can change where the Dock displays and customize its animation style in Dock preferences. See Customize the Dock.
Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,
    Pedro D.

  • HT201272 iMovie disappeared when upgrading iOS. Asking me to purchase again.

I've upgraded my iPhone to iOS 5.1.1 and my iMovie has disappeared. I'm signed into the account from which I've purchased it and it doesn't show in my "Purchased" apps. Do I need to purchase it again?!?

You are signed in with the same account that you bought it with, you haven't changed countries since buying it (content is tied to the country, aswell as the account), and it's the same app (it's not now supported by a different developer) ?

  • IMovie disappeared off my dock

My daughter and I are new to Mac computers.  She was using iMovie for a few days now and now she tells me she can't find the app on her computer.  I am assuming she means on the dock.  She did not do anything differently that would have made it disappear.  She said the only way to find it is to do a search, and then find it that way.  However, when she does this, she is unable to open up the videos that she made.  Can anyone help with this?  Thanks!!

If you drag the icon off the dock, it will disappear in a puff of smoke. This just removes it from the dock.
If it is still installed on your computer, you could find it using the Finder. Navigate to the Applications folder. Click on it to launch.
Another way to find it is to click on the magnifying glass at the top right of your screen. This is called a Spotlight Search. Type in iMovie, and if it is still on your computer, you can start it from there. Once it is running, there should be a temporary icon in the dock, that will stay as long as iMovie is running. You can right-click on this icon and select Keep In Dock, and it will stay there permanently.
If for some reason, the App is no longer in the Applications folder, you can still get it back if you are running Time Machine. There are other ways to get it back as well, but let's stop there for now.

  • The time line of imovie disappeared. How can I see it again?

I have OSX version 10.9.3. I am working with imovie 10 but i am not able to see the time line. This hasn't let me edit the movie clips. How can I see the time line again?

You have to double-click on an existing project icon or create a new project and then the timeline appears.  Could this be the reason?
    Geoff.

  • IMovie disappeared after archive and reinstall

This is strange...I did an archive and reinstall to clear up some problems that appeared on my new iMac after using the setup assistant. The process worked fine EXCEPT...iMovie and iWeb were deleted from the iMac and were not reinstalled!
These seem to be the only "iApps" that were affected. iTunes is still there, as well as iPhoto, iCal, etc. I even have aliases that still point to the missing apps.
How can I reinstall these? Thanks.

I record videos weekly and this recently started happening. After I finish capturing footage from the iSight and play it back I notice that it cuts and skips through the footage. So even though I was recording for 5 minutes only 4 minutes will be there with random bit cut out. It just skips around.
I originally thought my macbook was overheating as it only seemed to happen sometimes and shutting it down for awhile would fix it. But it's happening more and more frequently and now skips in about every 10 seconds of footage.
Any thoughts on things I could try?

I think you need to free up as much hard disk space as possible:
      http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.6/en/8358.html
I like to keep at least half (no less than one third) of my startup disk free for best OS X and video performance. You can do with less, but, generally, the more space (and RAM) you have, the better things work.

  • IMovie disappeared?

When I bought my iMac last year, it came with the iLife products, including iMovie.
However, I've recently had to reinstall my OSX again, but iMovie is no longer showing up in aplications.
I've searched the Apple site and can't find where to download it, and as my iMac is a year old it appears that I have no support options other than this forum.
I tried posting in the iMovie section, but it does not give me the option to post a new topic.
I had planned to move to Final Cut Pro at some point, but figured on getting my feet wet in basic video editing with iMovie first.
Could anyone please advise how to get iMovie back on my machine please?

Thanks for the reply - I've had a look at the install disks but I don't seem to have the option to install individual applications. Unless I've misunderstood something, all I can see is the ability to reinstall all applications, but not individually.
That would be kind of unwelcome as I've already started using and configured some programs.
Is there a way to find and select an individual application? I can't currently see a list so I don't know if iMovie is even on the disk.
I'm currently moving over from Windows so perhaps there's something I've overlooked in being a new Mac user?

  • IMovie disappears when Adding the overlap transition?

    Hello all
haveing a bit of a problem when adding the Overlap Transition:(:(
So far all the others work fine its just the overlap, any Ideas?
Ive checked for updates but none avalible. next step will be uninstalling the imove and reinstalling it.
    Thanks

sounds like you may have corrupted video clips (i know you said pictures but imovie turns the pictures into small video files when you import them) try pulling out the pictures that are giving you this issue. after that close imovie. reopen imovie and reimport the pictures back into the project and try to add the same transition.
I ran into the same issue running a project off a external hard disk. Ended up the 2 pictures i was trying to add the transition between somehow became corrupt. Deleteing them. Closing out imovie and reopening and reimporting the images all over into imovie resolved this issue for me. Hope it works for you as well
    Cheers.

  • My iMovie disappeared.

I just wanted to confirm and ask one question.
I recently bought and installed iLife 08 before finding out that its version of iMovie works only with the new Intel Macs. After installation, I also noticed that the old version of iMovie was no where to be found.
I'm assuming iLife 08 removed it but couldn't install the new version (which is really stupid if true), correct?
If so, can I reinstall the old iMovie and would it work without any conflicts with iLife 08 installed, and can I reinstall it from the Tiger install cd?

    Hi
    A. Is it iMovie or a movie project in iMovie that has disapeared ?
    B. There are at least - TWO Trash baskets.
    - one in iMovie
    - one on desktop (Finder)
Try to retrieve it from them - AND DO NOT EMPTHYING them as all then is lost.
