IMovie '09 equivalent "zoom" Title

Hi there,
I'm wanting to make use of some very simple titles for a movie I'm making, and I'm partial to the iMovie '09 "zoom" title, yet I can't seem to find it in FCP. Do I have to create this title myself? Or is it available and I'm simply overlooking it?
Thank you so much,
YahYah

What version of FCP?
If you have FCS 2 or earlier, there's a bunch of pre-built zoom effects in LiveType.
From LT's Browser: Effects > Zooms.
Easy to make your own though, experiment with the Scale controls in FCP's Motion tab or use the Motion application that came with your copy of FCS.

  • IMovie 6.0.3 (Title/Transitions/FX) Problems

I have been reading lots of similar problems, and I have tried to remedy based upon previous posts. However, nothing seems to have helped when using the latest iMovie. (prefs, privs, etc)
I often receive a black clip when I try to speed up or elongate clip. I do a lot of high school sports editing, and this feature comes in very handy. Unfortunately, this is only one of those that are not usable. Another problem, is that upon importing fullscreen graphics, it converts to movie, and shows up as black.
Is this one of those bugs that came in iMovie HD, and has there been a work around yet? I am a little disheartened at the problems I am now running into these days in iMovie.
Should I consider starting from scratch with this 5 hr import? I wanna make my honeymoon vid/DVD well edited.
At a loss! Thanks for your help!

    Rejam,
Apple once offered something called Plugin Pack 2.2. It was a collection of additional plugins for iMovie.
Some of them are no longer compatible with iMovie HD. Some have been incorporated into the stock set that iMovie now comes with.
Here's the list of plugins from that old Plugin Pack that I think may have issues and/or have been incorporated into iMovie's stock collection.
    EFFECTS
    Circle Transition
    Flash
    Ghost Tails
    Mirror
    NSquare
    Radial Transition
    Wash Transitions
    TITLES
    Subtitles
    Zoom Titles
If you do have any of these they'll likely be in located here:

  • IMovie 9.0.7 Title Browser Corrupted

I have reinstalled 9.0.7 using the Apple download; still having the same problem.
The Title Browser in *this* version is corrupted. I have a Mac Pro (2010) 16G RAM.
Title Browser "templates" are mostly greyed out. It is possible to create titles, however it's like the alpha channel is gone, so it takes over video and places a black screen with title visible, rather than keying the title *over* the video.
This applies to *all* Titles templates included with iMovie.
I'm at a loss, and believe this is a bug. Everything else works fine as it always has.
Here is a screen grab of what I'm seeing.

Good News, after a couple of days with Apple Support, I decided to open up Final Cut Pro X to make sure that the above problem wasn't also affecting being able to add titles to my projects in Final Cut Pro X.
As I opened up FCP X, FX Factory came up with a warning about a particular outdated plugin called:  AlphaBlendMode.plugin.
Removed it to the trash, and everything is fine in *both* iMovie and Final Cut Pro X, Title Browsers are restored to normal. Did a number of test projects. Back to normal!
For your reference, for those of you who are using Lion, Mountain Lion, iMovie 9.0.7, and Final Cut Pro X 10.0.5, here is a thread from Creative Cow: http://forums.creativecow.net/readpost/344/7518
There is also a more detailed thread from FX Factory/Noise Industries: http://forums.creativecow.net/readpost/8/1161026
The second thread has some insight into how this happened. I find it interesting that it affected iMovie as well.
My sincere thanks to Apple Support staff, FX Factory, and your patience.
    Patrick.

  • IMovie 5.0.2 - titles across screen for entire length of movie?

Is there any way to have a title on screen for the entire length of a movie (vs. the 4.20 seconds or so IMovie allows)?

Posted in wrong forum - sorry.

  • IMovie crashes when browsing Titles, and when exporting movie.

Frequent occurance.  Crashes when browsing Titles. When re-opening it goes to a previous project.
2nd problem, also frequent but always with one project.  I have tried numerous things, all unsuccessful. Have gone back to iPhoto to redo slideshow, have checked photo permissions, then rebuild movie but still unsuccessful.  Message:  "EXC BAD ACCESS (SIGSEGV)".

Sometimes iMovie Projects become corrupted and can cause iMovie to crash. This is what worked for me after months of frustration without any solution.
Copy the iMovie Projects folder to the desktop. To avoid confusion rename this folder Desktop iMovie Projects. Do not delete these projects from the Desktop iMovie Projects folder.
Then delete all projects from the original iMovie Projects folder for iMovie - found Mac HD > Users > (Your home folder) > Movies > iMovie Projects.
Either create a simple test movie project in iMovie or...
or take, from Desktop iMovie Projects folder, one of the projects that you know was successfully exported in the past and copy from the Desktop iMovie Projectsfolder into the original iMovie Projects folder.
    Try launching iMovie again.
In turn take, from Desktop iMovie Projects folder, another of the projects and copy from the Desktop iMovie Projects folder into the original iMovie Projects folder.
Close and restart iMovie. Try to export this project
In transferring one project at a time you can isolate the corrupted project(s)

  • IMovie quits when adding titles

iMovie (9.0.8) quits when adding titles (and sometimes just randomly although it seems to be related to adding titles).
I have repaired permissions and deleted com.apple.iMovieApp.plist from library to no avail.
It is not related to a corrupt project as it happens to all my current projects.

    Hi
I doubt - BUG - I guess corrupted iMovie pref file (to get this You only need to Force/Panic Halt the program and errors are entered in it)
    See if this helps
When iMovie doesn't work as intended this can be due to a lot of reasons
    • iMovie Pref files got corrupted - trash it/they and iMovie makes new and error free one's
    • Creating a new User-Account and log into this - forces iMovie to create all pref. files new and error free
    • Event or Project got corrupted - try to make a copy and repair
    • a codec is used that doesn't work
    • problem in iMovie Cache folder - trash Cache.mov and Cache.plist
    • version miss match of QuickTime Player / iMovie / iDVD
    • preferences are wrong - Repair Preferences
    • other hard disk problem - Repair Hard Disk (Disk Util tool - but start Mac from ext HD or DVD)
    • External hard disks - MUST BE - Mac OS Extended (hfs) formatted to work with Video
( UNIX/DOS/FAT32/Mac OS Exchange - works for most other things - but not for Video )
    • USB-flash-memories do not work
    • Net-work connected hard disks - do not work
    • iPhoto Library got problems - let iPhoto select another one or repair it. Re-build this first then try to re-start iMovie.
    This You do by
    _ close iPhoto
    _ on start up of iPhoto - Keep {cmd and alt-keys down}
_ now select all five options presented
_ WAIT a long long time
    • free space on Start-Up (Mac OS) hard disk to low (<1Gb) - I never go under 25Gb free space for SD-Video (4-5 times more for HD)
    • external devices interferes - turn off Mac - disconnect all of them and - Start up again and re-try
    • GarageBand fix - start GB - play a few notes - Close it again and now try iMovie
    • Screen must be set to million-colors
    • Third-party plug-ins doesn't work OK
    • Run "Cache Out X", clear out all caches and restarts the Mac
    • Let Your Mac be turned on during one night. At about midnight there is a set of maintenance programs that runs and tidying up. This might help
    • Turn off Your Mac - and disconnect Mains - for about 20-30 minutes - at least this resets the FireWire port.
    • In QuickTime - DivX, 3ivx codec, Flip4Mac, Perian etc - might be problematic - temporarily move them out and re-try
(I deleted the file "3ivxVideoCodec.component" located in Mac HD/Library/Quicktime and this resolved my issue.)
    buenrodri wrote
I solved the problem by removing the file: 3ivxVideoCodec.component. after that, up-dated iMovie runs ok.
Last resort: Trash all of iMovie and re-install it

  • Imovie HD 6 fuzzy titles

    Hello
I have two imovie questions for imovie hd 6
    1. My titles seem to be fuzzy after I add them into a clip is that how they will look after I transfer them or will they be sharper when I transfer to DVD?
    2. I have a 3 minute movie so far, but it took imovie like 20min to save it, is that normal?
    Thank you for your help.
    Ivan

I have heard that with some transitions and effects the titles can become blurry, so if you have any try taking them off. As for the second part, I don't know about saving, but sharing does take a long time.

  • IMovie 10 static standard title?

When I choose "standard" for the title, the title gets a Ken Burns effect. How can I get a static title--just white font on a black background?

That's a feature of that particular title.  The "Centered" title has no Ken Burns effect.
    Geoff.

  • How do I change default settings on iMovie? (pictures zoom in)

I don't know how to techincally say this. I am making a memorial slide show for my Grandpa who died last week. When I import the pictures it automatically does that thing where the picture zooms in to the center of the picture. It is cool sometimes but obnoxious other times like when it zooms in to someone who is not my Grandpa or is zooms into a leg or an arm. It makes the slide show look cheesy. How do i get this off? It is really annoying, i have to have this video done by tomarrow. Please help me. Also, and i think it is because of the zooming but i can't make the picture time longer, like instead of 2 second i want 10 seconds for each picture, because the movie needs to be 8 minutes and it is only 4 minutes.
    thanks in advance.

I am putting a slide show together or 200 slides. Can I select all and apply this technique. IE take off the Ken Burns effect?
Not sure. Have never tried a "retroactive" adjustment since there a more direct "Paste Adjustments" option which I use to "selectively" modify the so-called "still frames" photo segments. Basically, all you do is select a single frame. (I usually select the first or last.). Select the crop tool and switch to the "Fix" option in the window. Switch back to the "Arrow" tool icon and, with the same photo still selected, press Command-C to copy it and its settings to memory. Now select the frame next to the one you just copied and, holding the "Shift" key down, select the last photo at the opposite end of your slideshow. At this time evey photo but the one you copied should be selected. At this point simply go to the "Edit" menu and select the "Paste Adjustments > Crop" sub-menu to copy your "Fix" setting to all other photos. (I prefer the option as once all of the photos are selected, I can "turn off" deselect specific photos by clicking on them with the Command key held down and paste settings only to those I wish and in a similar manner copy video or audio settings or changed settings to all or just some of your photos.)

  • Imovie ken burns zoom on video problem

Select the clip I want, apply ken burns, and the same is suddenly applied to all clips again!
If I turn it off, its off on all clips
again I Select the clip I want, apply ken burns, and the same effect is suddenly applied to all clips again!
In Project Properties I have turned the default to Crop on all clips,... doesnt help.

  • IMovie 9.0.4 title issues

I am making a 30 minute movie with titles, transitions, chapter markers and background music.  The movie seemed to play just fine until I added background music.  Now, when I play the movie everything seems to be working fine except my titiles; all I get is a blank (black) screen.  No words.  I have tried deleting and re-entering the title and words, but it will not play properly when I review the movie.  The titles won't even play in the project browser window.
    Teresia

I figured it out!  I have a fade out transition before and after the title.  If I remover the transition after the title it works properly.  Not sure why the second transition has that effect on the title.  Whatever works...

  • IMovie - When exporting a video it zooms the video in. How can I fix this?

Ok this is on my iPad not iMac.
So basically when I try to export my movie to camera roll, it exports fine but when I click to watch it on camera roll the movie has automatically zoomed in, but when I go back to iMovie it is zoomed out like normal. How can I stop/fix this?

    Howdy Lumagofe,
I was thinking that you may need to reset the iPod Nano, outlined here How to reset iPod http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1320.
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and Volume Down button simultaneously for at least eight seconds or until the Apple logo appears. You may need to repeat this step.
If the above step did not work, try connecting iPod to a power adapter and plug the power adapter into an electrical outlet, or connect iPod to your computer. Make sure the computer is turned on and isn't set to go to sleep. Try resetting the iPod while it is connected to power.
If that doesn't quite get the iPod going again, then it will need to be restored. Use this article to help with that Restoring iPod to factory settings http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1339.
    All the very best,
    Sterling

  • Titles only in iMovie style?

I just installed FCP X full of anticipation for a major upgrade from FCE, but it looks quite the opposite.
Am i missing something, or is titling limited purely and simply to the template style of iMovie?

Click the title bar on the little triangle and you will see a pop-up where you can select "Show Video animation"
All that for a basic fade in/fade out!

  • IMovie titles - drop shadow

I may be missing something really obvious, but i'm hoping for some help if there is an answer.
I simply do not want drop shadow on text when i make titles, i can not find a way to switch it off.
On a similer line, i have made simple graphic title pages up as jpg but when imported into iMovie (HD) they go blurry and look awfull. I have tried a multitued of file types and obviously bumbed the quality to 100% but no joy. Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks for taking the time to read this...
    Ian

Thank you a pleasure to be here although i am a little unsure how much i will be able to help other people. I quite recently switched to Mac and haven't really had many problems to solve. Why i bought a Mac really after coveting them for a few years and being stuck in windows ****.
Aaaanyways. You do make a very good point. However i don't actually edit for DVD very often, this is all for web and particuly when using white lettering on a background the text looks dirty as it fades in. The style i use is also very much in tune with the website i run, very bright and... blocky i guess is the closest i word i can find to describe. Very simplistic indeed. Orange and white are the clours of choice for the project i am on now.
As you say, drop shadow has its use and reasons for using, but right now i really don't want it and don't seem to have that option with iMovie. In fact the ONLY place WMM beats iMovie is on the titles front.
I appreciate it could be a case for stepping up to a higher end application but i am currently prohibited by cost and actually like working with a simplistic editor for now. Learning to walk before i run
    Thanks for your words Sue
