IMovie 10.0.1 missing previously shipped features

This may be called "progress from the previous versions" in some circles, at my work it'd be called "regressions":
- can no longer play event/project in Full Screen mode
- can no longer play only selection/clip
- in Share -> FIle there's only one output format option: MP4
- there are no longer canned sound tracks that I can add to movies, only "Sound Effects"
- the "migrate events to new version" feature is a major failure. At the very least Apple should have warned users that all of their events will get duplicated in the current version of iMovie. At the rate the HD cameras shoot videos nowadays, the duplication will add up generous amounts of wasted harddrive space.
Please inform if you find workarounds to any of the issues in the list above.

Yes you still can, hover over the viewer and you see a number of buttons of which the one most to the right will go to full screen.

Yes you still can, you can even toggle thru the clips by using the double arrow icons in the viewer (hover over) to go to the beginning of partly selected clip or to the previous or next clip.
The thing you may be confused about is that playing a clip won't stop at the end of the clip but continues to the next one. On the other hand you can drag the play-head as well to go for or backwards.

That's correct, you have different settings but all mp4. However nowadays it's the best distribution format which will play on all devices around, and is perfectly suited for Internet sharing. Was a bit puzzled myself in the beginning, but noticed that I actually don't need anything else. I did and still do however use Automator which provide some more features (like bitrate setting, but limited) and annotation. I developed some basic services with Automator that are available when right-clicking a movie-file.

I am not sure what you mean, as I have still all the effects, jungles, stingers and so on that were available in the former version of iMovie, even the "themes" from the trailers are showing up now. However they only showed up all, after iMovie completely finished all the background tasks (that you don't actually see and may take quite some time), which is I agree, a pain.

I don't like the migration part at all too, though after some study I understand why it is as it is. I decided to undo the conversion and start using iMovie 10 only for new projects or "old" events that I didn't work on to create a project.
To my understanding the duplication of files is only temporarily during the conversion. When that is finished you're left with single files only. The bad thing is that you need to have temporarily enough HD-space to get the conversion done. Having said that, in the end didn't convert my "old" projects and used events, but started from scratch.
I must say, after working a couple of weeks now, I am quite enthusiastic about this new iMovie 10, though there is still room for improvement. I produced in the mean time 4 video-tutorials to explain the new iMovie 10, as I meet quite some people that are confused (as was I in the beginning) about the new set-up.

I am using SharePoint 2013 Enterprise with the March CU.
I created a project site template with libraries, lists and workflows and saved it as a template with content. When I try to create a new site using this template, I get the error pasted at the bottom.
I was using SharePoint designer workflow custom activities created in VS2012. I uninstalled those and decided to call a web service directly from SharePoint designer. The workflows work fine inside of the site which I want to create a project template
from. When creating a new site from the template, SharePoint complains about a missing workflow XAML feature.
Do I have some leftover references to the custom features? Does anyone know how to resolve this issue?

For your error, It could possibly have something to do with that the workflow did not publish before saving your project site as a template.
The "Elements.xml" file, which is packaged within the "wsp" solution file contains 2 "<File" elements. One file element represents the XAML file, and the other
represents the WF association file. If the WSPublishState value for each "<File" element differ (one has a value of "3" and the other a value of "1"), the error will occur. For solving your problem, please update the WSPublishState value for both "<File"
elements to “3”.

Also note that the WSPublishState property is also duplicated within the "MetaInfo" property, so both occurrences should be updated. Then the resulting files need

Does iMovie 08 have a Backup to Disc feature like iTunes? This way you could back up your entire Movie Library by feeding it discs, and then periodically only backup what has changed since the last backup? Does iPhoto 08 have this feature as well?

MSI-SUPPLIED "BIOS" IS MISSING ABILITY TO SET "ATA PASSWORD".
IS THERE SOLUTION AVAILABLE or COMING UP; and FOR ALL PEOPLE or if not, COULD I GET ONE IN PRIVATE (might even pay a reasonable fee for modifying BIOS!) ?

You may call P67A-G45 (B3) a "Consumer" Motherboard, but in reality we're using it for business (here).
Please assure your Technical knowledge is deep enough b/c to avoid bloating message, I provide minimum explanation for a subject some Sales folks keep confusing with another (people who use cheap computers, have no clue BIOS/PowerOn password has NO relation to Harddisk/ATA Password - so would help if an engineer or technically-inclined customers/enthusiasts respond to following:
If you use computers for serious business rather than "pictures, music" or similar waste alone; you are likely using either or both protections:
a) Encryption (Software or Hardware types) and/or
b) Harddisk aka "ATA Password" (been part of ATA Command Set since mid 1990's, powerusers know). The term "Harddisk" here is interchangeable with SSD Drives (new SSD's e.g. Intel320series, are ATA Password compliant just like conventional/spinning harddisks).
I know all about Encryption and it is NOT the subject of this email, in some cases we cannot use Encryption to full extent (e.g. FDE [Full Disk Encryption] in a form of BitLocker, TrueCrypt, PGP, etc.), or we can't use it for the entire Harddisk/SSD, or it has tobe combined with ATA Password anyway. Self-encrypting/Built-in AES storage like new SSD's from Intel (Intel320) or some WesternDigital harddrives (SED - Self Encrypting Drive) are also not an option. Too long to explain, just please accept this fact.
All I am asking to please answer WHY "ATA Password" feature (security) is missing in BIOS and HOW to get it back, either for everyone or can I pay a small $fee to get BIOS modified?

ATA Password can be set in most business/hi-end laptops & some desktops BIOS's simply because they don't hide such functionality; cheaper/consumer machines hide it to deny 'idi0t-customers' [who only use computers for entertainment], though manufacturers like Intel , *P, *ell, *enovo/*BM or *sus may offer also on consumer models. Too bad for MSI you might be losing sales for professional/business applications b/c as an example (my MSI Board part# P67A-G45 (B3) is a good choice for business use (we are using in medium-power CAD workstation, after installing nVidia 560 GTX Fermi).
Your board part# P67A-G45 (B3) actually doesn't have a BIOS, it's using UEFI - but I don't care how you call it now, we just need "ATA Password"

Even though UEFI may sound like a new great thing, it lacks what we TECHNICAL people expected in BIOS, so it's as "good" as Windows is "better"
than Linux, now it's missing some important feature.
Remember I politely asked for Technically-inclined people to respond, which Sales folks often are NOT. They keep confusing ATA/Harddisk Password with other passwords - usually PowerOn/BIOS/Supervisor passwords present in most even "cheapo" computers - but completely unrelated & worthless (it can be
reset by kids in minutes)! P67A-G45 (B3) does have that password (PowerOn and/or BIOS-style access), but it has no relation to "ATA password.
No professional takes "PowerOn" or "BIOS" password(s) seriously - it is a joke which can be defeated in minutes (even by kids). I promised not to explain much, but let me say this much:
Your data is on a storage device, if a Thief steals your Harddrive/SSD & plugs into another computer/controller board ==> you're DEAD if ATA Password was not setup. Doesn't mean ATA Password is hard to crack, but it is a real strong protection against moderately violent attack. Ultimate protection is Encryption, but like I said I am contacting you to give us back "ATA Password".

In addition to hi-end desktops, in laptops I personally started using Harddisk/ATA Passwords back in mid 1990's in *BM *hinkpads (*BM was first to implementATA "Security Xtension" added into ATA Standard in mid 1990's); later they were renamed as Lenovo, also I used Asus even consumer laptops offered ATA password!; now for business we're using "HP Elitebooks"; but this same ATA Password feature in Desktops is a pain. "Previous Recipient" feature has problems

Will someone please verify that these are four currently unfixable problems with the "Previous Recipeint List" feature in Mail on OS X (Tiger)?
1) If you have a contact in Address Book with only one name, ie. "Dad", and this name is listed under the "Last Name" entry, and the "First Name" entry is left blank (because you have your contacts organized to appear as "Last, First" in your Address Book), then when you type a new email in Mail to "Dad" and it auto-completes the address, once "Dad" actually receives the mail in his inbox, your Mail application saves this contact under "Previous Recipients" as "Dad Dad."
The next time you send an email to "Dad," everything seems to be normal, but when this second email has sent, "Previous Recipients" automatically sends information to Address Book and your Address Book automatically changes your contact to "Dad Dad" (First Name, Last Name).
Therefore the problem is caused by the "Previous Recipients" feature in Mail because it stores the information incorrectly (it needs a first name entry to it creates one maybe?).
This is a pretty big problem because all Treo phones can only organize their address books as "Last Name, First Name" or "Business, Last Name." There is NO "First Name, Last Name" option. Therefore, if you want a one-word contact/name to be organized correctly with the rest of your address book, it needs to be in the Last Name column. (Or, if you want to organize your phone by first name, you have to put the addressee's first and last name under the Last Name column. If your Address Book on your Mac is organized this way, the problem with "Previous Recipients" changes the contacts in your Address Book by changing John Smith to John John Smith.) Treos are very popular and people obviously buy them to sync with their computers so the Mail and Address Book software on Macs should be able to deal with this issue, but it can't.
2) You cannot turn off the "Previous Recipients" feature in Mail. By that I mean there is no way to NOT automatically save your previous recipients to this folder. You can only erase them one at a time, and they reappear as soon as you send another piece of mail. This is an issue from both a privacy standpoint, and the fact that the feature has problems and messes up Address Book.
3) You cannot stop Address Book from automatically changing its contacts by updating them from problematic "Previous Recipients List."
4) You cannot choose to auto-complete addresses in new mail with just Address Book and NOT Previous Recipients List.
Sigh. All of this information I obtained from my own experimentation. The 4 people I talked to in tech support had never heard of this problem, did not know what I was talking about or how to fix it, so we just kind of shugged at each other and got off the phone. I (and the handful of people I talked to in tech support) am guessing that there is no solution, but I just wanted confirmation of that on here from someone who may have encountered this problem before.
And then, if my findings are correct, could we get a new version of Mail out soon?

I believe your findings are all correct. In particular, I can confirm that I’ve seen something like what you describe in #1 previously reported (in less detail) multiple times here, although I haven’t looked into it myself.

Missing "Guided Access" Feature on ipad 1

Has anyone had this problem? We have all 4 iPad versions but our original iPad 1 (1st gen) seems to all of a sudden be missing the Learning feature, "Guided Access" (in the General Settings under Accessibility). We use this learning feature for our 3 year old and 5 year old with Down syndrome who both love their iPads.
Can anyone tell me if there is a solution or quick fix for this missing feature? Or do I need to do a hard reset? The version that it's running says up to date, (Version 5.1.1), and if I'm correct, I don't belive there are any other updates for this original iPad.

Thanks so much - But, I know that I've used it before on my daughter's iPad (1st Gen), and had always used it because she was much too young at age 2 last year to understand not to press certain parts on the screen or the home button. Now that she's 3, she's very well adjusted to what she can't or shouldn't press while using her iPad, however sometimes little fingers still slip up. So, how did I use it before if it was only a iOS 6 feature? Missing noise reduction feature in iMac 2012, Do you all know if that feature was available in previous iMacs??

I have been having some issues in my iMac 2012, with the noise reduction feature. I have a MBP retina display that in system preferences has the noise reduction feature. However, in the new iMac 2012, I don't see that feature. Plus, I have been having issues with facetime, people that I call are telling me that they hear feedback whenever I talk to them. Does any of you know if the new iMac is supposed to have the noise reduction feature?

I was trying to find the "use ambient noise reduction" option in my new iMac, but in the new iMac I don't have that option. I was wondering if in previous iMacs versions had the "use ambient noise reduction" option available because I have an issue with facetime, people that I am calling are telling me that they hear feedback or static sound and they can't hear me well. I believe that with the "noise reduction" option, that problem will be solved. However, in my iMac, I don't have that option only in my MacBook pro. The reason that I am asking if in previous iMacs versions had that option is because I believe that there might be a bug that Apple needs to fix in order to have that option available in iMac.

Is there a way to download PAGES 4 for MAC OS? Pages 5 is missing too many features I need!

Is there any way to get the prior version of Pages (4x) for MAC? So many critical features are missing now I cannot use Pages any longer unless I can get the old version?

With Mavericks the answer is maybe. It really depends on whether they ship a disc with Pages 4.0 or Pages 4.3. It is hard to figure out which one is the one that you will actually receive. If you have a virtual machine and purchased these from the Mac App store then if you run Mountain Lion you should be able to download them again on that system. This is the method I used to re-install.
I'm lucky in that I have the retail version of iWork 09. I re-installed it using the following method.
1. Reinstall from DVD. This installed a version that is too out of date to run on Mavericks so I had to do step 2.
2. Ran a virtual machine with Mountain Lion, installed iWork 09, ran software update and copied the latest versions over to my main machine. This works and now I have iWork 09 back on my machine. Hopefully Apple can fix this latest iWork and bring it back to feature parity with iWork 09.

IMovie won't export "missing media" and now won't import archived footage either?

I made a movie in iMovie 10.0.3, and tried to export it to "file". It came up fine in the Theatre, but when I exported it to "file" a message about "missing media" came up, and when I tried to play it (tried to burn it to DVD), a further message about "quicktime not recognising the format" came up. It was saved as an mp4 file. I thought I would try and delete all the original footage and reimport it from the external HDD (where it was saved as archived footage), however when I plug the HDD in, the previously imported clips don't come up. I've emptied the trash to try and help (clutching at straws!), and was wondering if anyone could offer advice on how to a. export the movie successfully or b. reimport the clips so I can make the movie again (long and tedious, but possibly the only way?).

Found the solution myself! All I needed to do was turn off the Time Machine. I have no idea why it does that. Finally, I can use iMovie again! Apple should really fix that though.

IMovie-- Share to iDVD--- Opens previous iDVD project...why?

Hello all,
I hope this is as simple as setting a preference somewhere. I have created an iMovie project and I am sending to iDVD via the "Share" menu. When I do this, iDVD automatically opens the PREVIOUS iDVD project I was working on. I would assume that it would let me choose to "Create New" from the iDVD "Share" menu....am I mistaken? Is there a simple preference change that I am missing?
Just for the record, I usually export from iMovie to iDVD to "Full Quality" then import that into iDVD. However, this project has many chapter markers that I need to include in the DVD. From everything I've been reading, I HAVE to use the "Share" to iDVD option in order to preserve the chapter markers.
Any advice is greatly appreciated:)

Thanks for the advice. If I understand what you're saying, I can just close the iDVD project and then open a new one and import the iMovie project file I'm working with?

I have done this several times and each time iDVD was not running when I "Shared" to iDVD from iMovie. Although, if I open a new iDVD project, save it, then close it...then "Share" to iDVD from iMovie, the correct iDVD project will open. (the last iDVD project open).
Anyway, it seems that there is a way to accomplish what I need, so I'll go with the former method. I will mess with it further after I get done burning the several copies of this project that I need. (wedding video as a surprise for family members;)

What happened to the Bookmark all Tabs/Save and Exit/Open previous session feature in 4.0? If this has been taken out then 4.0 is of no use to me. I'll have to go back to 3.6

In 3.6 when ever I closed the browser with multi tabs open it would give me the option to Save and Exit. Then when I reopened the browser it would give me the option to open the previous session. I could also bookmark all open tabs. All of these features appear to no longer be present in 4.0. If this is the case I will be forced to uninstall and reinstall 3.6.

Bookmark All Tabs - you can get it when you right-click on a tab, or use keyboard shortcut Control+Shift+D.
Firefox now always stores the old session, and you can access it by going to the History menu and selecting "Restore Previous Session"
If you want Firefox to display the message to save the session, it can be turned back on by changing some preferences.

Product/part# not important b/c problem covers many such HP ultraportable Laptops.

Let me first state the Question/Problem (short), then go onto Explanation (lengthy):
HP-SUPPLIED "BIOS" IS MISSING ABILITY TO SET "ATA PASSWORD".
IS THERE SOLUTION AVAILABLE or COMING UP; and FOR ALL PEOPLE or if not, COULD I GET ONE IN PRIVATE (might even pay a reasonable fee for modifying BIOS!) ?

Explanation:
You may call DM1Z a "Consumer" Netbook/UltraLaptop, but in reality we're using for business (here). Meant for travel, by design, this is a Novel machine most powerful in the world for its size when came out. Things get stolen or FORGOTTEN often when you travel. I've been using what is called "ATA Password" (aka "Harddisk Lock") since time immemorial (since late 1990's) on other UltraPortables, and keep using on current HP EliteBooks, *enovo & *sus. But the irony, this "DM1Z" meant for travel and thus easy target for THIEVES, is a problem with security.
For your info: I keep industrial drawings, banks/creditcards, emails and if Harddisk is removed/stolen, I'll need a gun to shoot myself. FDE Encryption is NOT a solution for DM1Z - read below.
But first:
Please assure your Technical knowledge is deep enough b/c to avoid bloating message, I provide minimum explanation for a subject some Sales folks keep confusing with another (people who use cheap computers, have no clue BIOS/PowerOn password has NO relation to Harddisk/ATA Password - so would help if an engineer or technically-inclined customers/enthusiasts respond to following:
If you use computers for serious business rather than "pictures, music" or similar waste alone; you are likely using either or both protections:
a) Encryption (Software or Hardware types) and/or
b) Harddisk aka "ATA Password" (been part of ATA Command Set since mid 1990's, powerusers know). The term "Harddisk" here is interchangeable with SSD Drives (new SSD's e.g. Intel320series, are ATA Password compliant just like conventional/spinning harddisks).
I know all about Encryption and it is NOT the subject of this email, in some cases we cannot use Encryption to full extent (e.g. FDE [Full Disk Encryption] in a form of BitLocker, TrueCrypt, PGP, etc.), or we can't use it for the entire Harddisk/SSD, or it has tobe combined with ATA Password anyway. Self-encrypting/Built-in AES storage like new SSD's from Intel (Intel320) or some WesternDigital harddrives (SED - Self Encrypting Drive) are also not an option.
A Netbook like DM1Z is not a full-blown workstation, so its processor is both weak overall + lacks builtin AES Encryptor Accelerator (found in Intel i7-2600 for example).
Forget encryption. Too long to explain, just please accept this fact.
All I am asking to please answer WHY "ATA Password" feature (security) is missing in BIOS and HOW to get it back, either for everyone or can I pay a small $fee to get BIOS modified?
This one little feature would be a golden key to move DM1Z beyond "games" and more into business use. Right now I have to struggle with lame Encryption that suffocates this little Netbook processor. Why no "ATA password" present in BIOS ?? Like I said this is not a 50-pound home-bound machine, it's ultraportable, it travels, things get stolen or FORGOTTEN. I did find a couple wallets in various airports with USBflashdrives (returned), but in our case my data is utterly dangerous to be stolen.

ATA Password can be set in most business/hi-end laptops & some desktops BIOS's simply because they don't hide such functionality; cheaper/consumer machines hide it to deny {Content Removed: Language Filter Evasion} customers' [who only use computers for entertainment], though manufacturers like Intel , *P, *ell, *enovo/*BM or *sus may offer also on consumer models. Too bad for HP - DM1Z, you might be losing sales for professional/business applications.
Remember I politely asked for Technically-inclined people to respond, which Sales folks often are NOT. They keep confusing ATA/Harddisk Password with other passwords - usually PowerOn/BIOS/Supervisor passwords present in most even "cheapo" computers - but completely unrelated & worthless (it can be
reset by kids in minutes)! DM1Z does have that password (PowerOn and/or BIOS-style access), but it has no relation to "ATA password.
No professional takes "PowerOn" or "BIOS" password(s) seriously - it is a joke which can be defeated in minutes (even by kids). I promised not to explain much, but let me say this much:
Your data is on a storage device, if a Thief steals your Harddrive/SSD & plugs into another computer/controller board ==> you're DEAD if ATA Password was not setup. Doesn't mean ATA Password is hard to crack, but it is a real strong protection against moderately violent attack. Ultimate protection is Encryption, but like I said I am contacting you to give us back "ATA Password".
Encryption is NOT the subject of this Message.
The missing ability to set Harddisk/ATApassword (also applies to DM1Z w/ SSDdrive attached, instead of Harddisk) is giving us a headache, in fact I can manage every technical problem but not missing feature in BIOS/UEFI. Because hacking BIOS and/or using third-party ATA/Harddrive hacktools is very risky and so many people have ruined their hardware, not to mention that life is short and we are not going to spend it searching for some "Hacktools" to bypass BIOS.

I personally started using Harddisk/ATA Passwords back in mid 1990's in *BM *hinkpads (*BM was first to implement ATA "Security Xtension" added into ATA Standard in mid 1990's); later they were renamed as L*novo, also I used A*us even consumer laptops offered ATA password!; now for business we're using STRICTLY "HP EliteBooks"; I like HP stuff due to its roots in Science/Instrumentation. Even my engineering tools made by Agilent technologies, is nothing but a former HP division spun off years ago. World's best Test & Measurement tools. OK fine, I won't rant more but:
But this same omitting "ATA Password: feature in such UltraPortable while its processor is not meant for FDE Encryption heavy load, is a PAIN.
On the other hand I am not too stupid & recognize tech Support may get additional workload from "idi0t-customers" who forget their password.
How about us, technically capable people get it for a reasonable fee as a "Modified BIOS" or some BIOS add-on or just flash a huge warning in RED LETTERS before user is setting a password, that no one in the world will reset password if forgotten.

Else, nothing can be allowed for customers - even using a microwave oven is dangerous!
So the question is:
a) Does anyone know a workaround? Either within BIOS or outside?
b) Question is to both HP users + HP officials who might be reading it.
I can't transform everything here to use Encryption FDE, but it's overkill for AMD Fusion processor & for other reasons (too long to explain) we just want a simple:

May attempt to hack BIOS on my own, or talk to HDD/SSD thru "notorious" HDDerase Utility which bypasses BIOS but risk is high. Lame BIOS may not enumerate a locked ATA device at PowerOn, yet some people from Intel SSD forum reported success.
P.S. ATA Password is crackable.
If you had a drawer full of locked harddrives, it is an indication how many people messup (at least in America in recent times, we seem to be losing Technical edge -how does one lock their own harddisk and forget pass is beyond me).
But for those folks who suffer from forgetfulness:
Basically a question of Cost vs. Data value.
If Data really valuable, they can PAY and get it cracked after proving OWNERSHIP (whatever company cracks ATA pass w/o requring proof, is illegal).
My data is far more valuable than a collection of {Content Removed: Language Filter Evasion} or grandma's photos - I keep industrial design files, banks, and secret letters, but cracking ATA Pass is fairly expensive and not worth for thief to steal my data. So it's kind of effective.
If I need ot crack it - first off, I don't forget passwords
Second, if you are the owner and esperienced person, you do keep backups and image(s) and just write off $$ you spend on harddrive as a LOSS, and restore image to a new Harddrive. SSD's take only minutes to restore image (though losing locked SSD is more expensive than locked HDD).
Anyways,
ATA/Harddisk pass is the ONE & BEST (for my kind of people) solution for an ultraportable Laptop/netbook whose processor is not adequate to run FDE (BitLocker, TrueCrypt, PGP), it's not i7-2600 w/builtin AES as in our workstation.

Track Matte effect doesn't work
Media browser doesn't preview 24p correctly,

No edit with Audition,
No 3rd party codecs - Cineform, Quicktime dvcproHD, Blackmagic, Raylight
Have to 'Interpret Footage' for 24p and 24pa

Next week we'll ship a full native workflow for RED in Premiere Pro CS4, After Effects CS4 and even Encore CS4 (the RED to Blu workflow).
We've come a long way since the IBC demos --- more performance, more stability, more options, and tuning it to CS4 which is architected for 64 bit systems so that you can stuff it full of memory and get that smooth as butter experience.
Import your R3D files, change resolution on the fly, pop into full resolution for some detail work, drop all the way down to 1/16th for fast cuts on a laptop --- it's all there.
We're right up to 2K at full performance with the latest drop.
Oh, and did I mention that we're working the RED gang on exposing more control on the realtime de-bayering ? ... and of course with Assimilate on making it a full, clean, raw end to end workflow ?
Expect the importer to be posted with RED and linked from Adobe before Thanksgiving. Nov 20th is looking like the date (not that dates ever change).

Reporting Agent Web Templates. I'm missing previous precalculated data.

Hello Gurus. I'm precalculating a web template that has variables, so the customizing has variants for the variable values. The web template shows weekly information and the user needs to see historic reports, from previous weeks.
But when a run the planification package I lost the previous precalculated web templates. The only way I have found to obtain the reports for various weeks has been creating a variant for each week. But the users needs to consult a complete year, 52 weeks, so 52 variants!!
How can I create new static data for the reports without missing the old data?
