Imovie 10 fonts can't edit

Hi - just wondered if anyone has come up with a solution yet to the imovie 10 font issue. The standard editable fonts are no longer changable where the fonts you previously couldnt edit are changable.
The fonts are just greyed out, i need to be able to change the colour, someone suggested go to an editable frame, open "show fonts" and you are able to change the font and colour. This works but once you click off the frame it goes back to white.
Does anyone know a solution to this? see attached it is greyed out doesnt give you the option of changing anything.

I think you just have to choose one of the title styles with editable fonts.
Geoff.

    iPhoto pulls off new videos from my iPhone 5 just fine.  Does iPhoto automatically come up when you connect your iPhone?  If it does, you should see your iPhone under "Devices" in iPhoto and then can select the videos to transfer (select, then Import Selected), though that should happen automatically.

  • Exporting then importing projects back into imovie so I can re-edit

    If I have almost completed a project but want it off my hard drive for awhile, is there a way to save that project on a portable drive, then latter, if I need to make changes, import that project back into imovie so I can add video or change the transitions, etc. I find after exporting a project if I import it back, it cannot be re-edited without starting all over. In other words I want to save and store a project with all the editing instructions and then be able to import it back for changes. Thanks for any help on this...

    Project files (which are merely a set of instructions describing how a file will be made when it is to be exported/shared) are relatively small compared to Event (i.e., source) files and you would normally reap greater benefits by moving/keeping them on an external drive. If Events are moved from within iMovie '08, their paths will remain unbroken. If, however, you remove the the project files and anything happens to change either the Project or Event paths, you could be in a lot of trouble trying to get/fit everything back to its proper location with path references in tact at a later time.

  • Can't edit titles in iMovie

    I want to edit my theme title in iMovie (v 10.0.02) so that I can put the text on more than one line but the options are all greyed out
    I've read the help section on this (http://support.apple.com/kb/PH2212) but I don't have the ability to click on the font, size, alignment etc tools. I can see them, they are just completely unclickable.
    Any ideas?

    Hi ivdemark,
    If you see above, I read the iMovie support.
    It says that the titles that you can't edit are in gold, while the titles you can edit are in blue. This title is in blue.
    The options are there, they are just greyed out.

  • Best way to convert home movie VHS tapes so they can be edited in iMovie HD

    Please help! I'm sorry this question is going to be long, but I'm a novice at this.
    My goal is to get my VHS home movies (I have about 30 of them) into iMovie so I can do two things.
    First I want to burn DVD's so I'll have a copy of the VHS tapes before they go bad.
    Secondly, I want to be able to extract small clips from all of the tapes and combine them in a new iMovie project.
    Here's what I've done so far:
    I purchased a Canopus ADVC110 and got someof my VHS tapes converted digitally but the file sizes were HUGE and eating up my hard drive space. I was down to 6 GB of space left on my hard drive and almost crashed my Mac.
    I deleted all these huge files and got my Mac back up to having 111 gigs of space left. Whew!
    This week I purchased a Pinnacle converter and started all over. I took a VHS tape, and it was compressed into a nice small Mpeg-4 file and went to iTunes.
    Then I tried to drag and drop it from itunes to imovie. That didn't work. I then dragged the movie to my desktop and then dragged it to imovie..... looks like this was going to take a long time to get into imovie. I'm thinking this is too many steps.
    Now I am importing the file into iMovie by importing directly from itunes. The file size is 1.04 GB and it is 1 hour and 54 minutes long. It is taking a loooong time to import this movie....like 100 minutes.
    I am afraid I am doing this the hard way.
    Plus, after reading all the discussion boards and all the problems people are having... I don't even know if I'll be able to successfully edit this movie once it's imported. Plus, after I've edited it (if I can) will I be able to transfer the clips to another iMovie project?
    I'm happy with the file size that the Pinnacle converter is giving me. I'm happy with the way the movie appears in itunes.
    Because I have **so many VHS tapes** to convert, I'm asking you all if there is an easier way for me to complete this task!
    Thanks in advance for any advise. Keep in mind that I'm not tech-sophisticated..... just a middle aged Grandma trying to preserve memories of my family!

    _Share" the highlight as suggested_
    Thanks Lennart..... I'm not sure I know what you meant by the above.
    Do you mean that I share the little clips I want to use in the 'best of project'?
    I read the MacWorld article.... it's great thanks!
    I want to keep all these converted movies on my hard drive because down the road I want to extract other clips from them so I can make a 'best of' movie for my other family members. I may want to do that next year.... or whatever..... so I want to have the imovies available for me when that time comes.
    In order to do this am I going to have to buy a lot..... and I mean ALOT of extra hard drive space? That darn Canopus was really making files for me that were like 60-80GB's per one half hour movie!!
    Hey, I really appreciate all the time you are spending with me on this topic. Making these imovie memories are so very important to me.

  • How can you edit a previously burned DVD from an older iMovie app?

    I converted VHS home movies to DVD years ago on the origonal iMovie app.  How can I edit those DVD's now?  Do I need a third party app to convert the DVD files for use in the new iMovie?

    Yes, you need to 'reverse engineer' the highly compressed mpeg2 format of the DVDs.
    You need to convert the VOB files in the TS-Folder of the DVD back to DV which iMovie is designed to handle. For that you need mpegStreamclip:
    http://www.squared5.com/svideo/mpeg-streamclip-mac.html
    which is free, but you must also have the  Apple mpeg2 plugin :
    http://www.apple.com/quicktime/mpeg2/
    (unless you are running Lion in which case see below))
    which is a mere $20.
    Another possibility is to use DVDxDV:
    http://www.dvdxdv.com/NewFolderLookSite/Products/DVDxDV.overview.htm
    which costs $25.
    For the benefit of others who may read this thread:
    Obviously the foregoing only applies to DVDs you have made yourself, or other home-made DVDs that have been given to you. It will NOT work on copy-protected commercial DVDs, which in any case would be illegal.
    If you are running Lion:
    From the MPEG Streamclip homepage
    The installer of the MPEG-2 Playback Component may refuse to install the component in Lion. Apple states the component is unnecessary in Lion, however MPEG Streamclip still needs it.
    To install the component in Lion, please download MPEG Streamclip 1.9.3b7 beta above; inside the disk image you will find the Utility MPEG2 Component Lion: use it to install the MPEG-2 Playback Component in Lion. The original installer's disk image (QuickTimeMPEG2.dmg) is required.
    The current versions of MPEG Streamclip cannot take advantage of the built-in MPEG-2 functionality of Lion. For MPEG-2 files you still need to install the QuickTime MPEG-2 Playback Component, which is not preinstalled in Lion. You don't have to install QuickTime 7.

  • How can i edit / customize the font in the navigation bar in iweb?r

    how can I edit / customize font size and color in the navigation bar on an iweb created page?

    This tutorial may help: #24 - How to Change the Basic, Rollover and Visited Color of an iWeb Navbar.  It only applies to the various colors.
    Wyodor has posted code to be put in an HTML snippet that will increase the font size.
    <script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript">
    <!--
    navDiv = parent.document.getElementById("widget0-navbar-list");
    navDiv.setAttribute("style", "font-size: 1.1em;");
    // -->
    </script>
    Increase the size by increments of .1 until you get the size you want.  You'll need to publish the site before you'll see the change.
    If you only have a couple of pages in your site you can create your own text based navbar.  That will give you complete  control over font, size, color, spacing, etc. However, be sure to use only  Web Safe Fonts or the navbar will not look like you want it on those computers that do not have the font you used installed. This demo page is an example: Text Based Navbar.  With more than a couplke of pages updating such a navbar can become a real pain.  However, it is much more search engine friendly.

    Hi Mark
    Was just looking for the answer to this exact question and I just found something that worked for me so don't know if it might be of use to you or you might have already solved your problem!  Basically when I was in iMovie and I clicked to import movies from the computer into iMovie and I found the clip I wanted to import, there are a few options.  I think it asked which Event I wanted to add it to but most importantly it asked me what file size I wanted...I had originally been clicking Large because it advised me to because it reduces the file size...but just on a chance there I selected 'Full - Original' for size and it imported perfectly into iMovie in it's original vertical form!
    Hope this helps!

  • I can't edit my Project in iMovie 11-Gray Screen

    I completed importing all the clips into the PROJECT window from the EVENTS window that I needed.  Everything was working well until I imported a song from iTunes.  I tried ducking the song during a portion of a clip in the PROJECT window then all he(( broke loose.  It would not duck so I decided to delete the song from the PROJECT window.  It won't allow me to delete the song.  Now I can't edit the project.  I tried to rename the project and it allowed me in the PROJECT but has a gray viewing screen.  I still have sound in the clips but nothing but gray in the viewing area. If I close the project and close iMovie11 and then reopen iMovie 11 it will not allow me to Edit the Project.  If I change the name again it will allow me into edit but it will not allow me to edit and of course I still have the lovely gray viewing screen.
    Coaches at eleven (11) Division 1 universities are wanting this Recruiting Highlight Video of my son playing soccer and they want it in the next week or so.  I MUST get this thing finished. A scholarship maybe riding on this video or at least a second look at him in person.
    Can ANYONE help?  PLEASE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    I'm using iMovie 11 9.0.4 (1634)
    Keith

    I had the same problem and did all of the suggestions such as deleted certain files (com.apple.imove....and com.apple.iapps....) from the preferences folder...didn't really help my situation so I decided to view "rejected only" clips and saw that a clip that was in my project was in the list.  So I deleted the clip and everything is working fine.  You will just have to import that clip again.
    Hope that helps...
