IMovie 11 export unsync, transition problem, and sound problem

Hi all. I have done a 1 hour and 36 min long movie on my weeding and it's made of around 80 "clips", where in some places the original sound is used and in some places external sound is placed instead. In some places iMovie text boxes is used and in some places the video has filters and slow motion (so a lot of random filters, effects, etc and chapters).
So my problem? 3 weeks ago I wanted to just test the video before doing everything done and exported it as mov HD1080 and it worked good on other devices. When improvements done I tried to export it again. But as it is now, when I export is, regardless if its to iDVD, iTunes, MOV HD720 or 1080, and regardless if its "finilized" first or not, or if its shared to "media library", the transitions is not working (un sync) and the sound is fading out to 0% during all the transitions before up to the original level.
I have for real exported the film more than 25 times and average export time is 6 hours due to the high quality and the time duration.
When just in the project view looking and listening, everything is just perfect. As soon as I finilize the project, or export it, even in the project preview it doesnt work. I also tested to install miDVD pro (10$) and WonderShare DVD Creator (39$) to just sharing the project to them, but the result was the same.
I just want to be able to export it as it is in the project.
I have macbook 13, moutain lion, iMovie 11
Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance!

I have iMovie '11 and cannot create a HD 1080p movie. I've got a 27" iMac with a 2.93 GHz Intel Core i7 processor (I purchased this computer last month). I tried like crazy to export the HD movie last night (it's one of the new trailers -- the one that looks like Indiana Jones & it's less than 1 minute long) but no dice due to a "HEAP" error. I tried to export the movie a couple of times this morning. It went a little further in the rendering until the HEAP error popped up again (this was from a fresh reboot). The really odd thing is that when I render it in HD 720p, my movie clips are black. No video. The built-in trailer stuff from iMovie '11 is there, just none of my clips show up (they're all black).

  • How to maintain transition effects and sound when transferring PPT to Keynote ?

When transferring Powerpoint presentations created on my windows 7 laptop to Keynote to display on my I Pad retina, I lose all transition and sound effects. Is there a solution to this ?

In the Document tab of the Inspector, select "Self-Playing" under Presentation and enter '0' (zero) for the delay times.
Now when you export to QuickTime, you will have another option in the drop-down: "Fixed Timing." (this will represent the timings you have set within the presentation. Ignore the 1-second timings, they appear to have no bearing on the finished export.)
    Check "Include Slideshow Soundtrack."
From the Formats drop-down, go to "Custom..." and select "Mix Audio" from the Audio drop-down.
("Copy Audio" will give you a separate QT movie containing only the soundtrack.)
    Save to wherever.

  • Imovie 09 - exporting options for HD and burning with iDVD

I hope someone can be of help...here it goes
I shoot my footage in 1080i and import as Full HD into Imovie 09. I would like to export the movie files in 1080i so that I can burn to bluray in the near future. However, I'm currently stuck with burning to DVDs currently.
    1) Does burning to DVD with movie files that are 1080i present any issues with iDVD? If yes, how should I export from imovie 09 to have the best quality?
    2) If exporting as 1080i, should I use: "Export as movie" or "Export as quicktime"
    3) If "export as quicktime", what are the best settings to use?
Currently, I'm using "export as movie" with "Full HD" and when I go to burn a disc in iDVD, I have to use "high quality" or "profesional quality" due to a popup that says insufficient space...the result doesn't look good. Would the result be better on DVD if I used 960x540 to export and then used that file to burn to DVD?
My current workflow take about 6 hours to export as 1080i (for 1.5 hours of footage) and then another 4 hours in iDVD to reencode.
    I know, lots of questions
Thanks for taking time to read post.

    Hi
As I get it - iMovie'08 & 09 are meant to produce small YouTune movies.
    Not Full HD
There is NO version of iDVD that can handle HD or Full HD.
So I think You can export under Share a fairly good QuickTime movie but then You
need another tool to get it onto a DVD.
    I would use
    • Roxio Toast™ 10 Pro
    • With Blue-Ray component
    • Blue-Ray burner and disks
    Still You need a
    • Blue-Ray Player to be able to view it (Can't be playebacked on DVD-player OR Mac)
    • PlayStation 3 - has a Blur-Ray player
I would also prepare my movie in FinalCut Express or Pro. One has to cheque
that Your format can be handled without any limitations.

  • IMovie 11 PIP Clip Transition Problem?

OK I have several clips all having one continuous pip of a water mark .png file.
Before inserting this, my transition between clips ran perfectly, I used swap, love the effect for my customers. Now, since adding my PIP of my png, none of the transition work between clips.
Anyone have an idea around this, thanks all, love this forum.

what do you recomment for the highest quality, to then import back
What are the specs of the footage you used in your movie?
I would try the two highest quality presets in Share>Media Browser.

    Movie details
    QuickTime Movie

    2 audio channels

You can't use iMovie to create a video DVD - for that you need iDVD:
Why is there no iDVD on my new Mac? How do I get it and how do I install it?
    https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3673
To burn a DVD with iDVD from the latest version of iMovie, you have to export the movie using the Export button and select 480p as the size. Open iDVD and start a new project, then drag that exported movie file into the iDVD menu window, avoiding any drop zones you see.

  • Imovie 08 export problems

    Hi,
I have Imovie08 and am learning it. I have read and saw most of the tutorials, but am still having problems.
I made a screencapture video with Snap x pro, and imported it into Imovie. I will then import a intro movie clip and put a transition and a text on the intro. Then I will go to 'share' then pick medium and it will for usually 8 minutes prepare the project and get to the 'export movie' task bar and go really quickly. Then i will go to the file that was exported and it will show the intro with text then transistion and it will be a black screen but with audio only. I am baffled. The main movie file is 1.75 gigs, can imovie not handle what i am throwing at it? What am i missing?

welcome t1mp to the  iMovie boards ..
    ... I made a screencapture video with Snap x pro .. a black screen .. What am i missing? ..
you're missing, that iM08 doesn't handle all kind of 'video'; here on the board, we noticed that 'Animation Codec' (=used by SnapZ) creates such an effect: it imports, you can edit it, but on exprt = 'zil.
you have to convert it BEFORE import into iM08; use tools as QuicktimePro (30$), or Mpeg Steamclip (free) to convert it into e.g. dv-stream or AppleIntermediate to make it 'useful' with iM ...

  • Audio fade in and  out in imovie 11 with a transition not working

When I fade audio out and fade audio in imovie 11 with a transition in between the fade would not work. If I remove the transition they would work. How can I fix this. If i reinstall life 11 would it lose my would or repair the issue.

I am having the same problem. I found a decent workaround:
At the point where you want to fade out, record a voiceover (using a mic) of silence. In other words, cover the microphone and record nothing for a second or two.
Then go into the audio settings for this voiceover and select the "ducking" checkbox, and change the setting so that all other tracks go to 0% sound when the voiceover is playing. The ducking feature has a built-in fader, so this way, when the silent voiceover comes on, it fades out the other track(s)--effectively giving you a fade-out effect on any concurrent track.
Not a perfect solution but can help...good luck!

Sorry. We can't help you. It's no longer an iPhone. Apple won't touch it.
Take it to whoever replaced the screen and see if they can help you.
iPhones are not user servicable and Apple does not sell iPhone parts at all. I'd be surprised if you were actually able to back it up at this point. It sounds like it's completely borked.

  • Chapters and Sound in iMovie

Yes I know that for some stupid reason Apple have moved adding chapters to Garage Band, makes absolute complete sense to do this when trying to make movies.....but having put up with this I find that Garage Band has moved my sound from the iMovie and deleted some of the sound....
Now the movie and sound doesnt match up.
Alsoin Garage Band when adding markers the video at the top doesnt match with the video window on the right side, making adding chapters difficult.
    Any advice welcome....
    thanks Colin

Which is the best quality result for doing the above work ?
Ideally, the work flow requiring the fewest re-compressions.
Better to share to iTunes in full quality, from iMovie, followed by dragging to garage band for chaptering and then share to iTunes the final movie from garage band ? ... The normal procedure would be share to media browser in iMovie to work in garage band and finally share to iTunes from within garage band. But I don't know nothing about loss of quality. Any advice ?
Do you have specific requirements regarding the final file container?
    1) If not, then you could share your file from iMovie '08 to the Media Browser using the specific preset for your final target compression format -- e.g., iPhone, iPod, or TV. You can then open Media Browser file in GarageBand, chapter it, and Export or Share it using the "Full Quality" option. This work flow will place the chapter track, the original video, and the audio into an MOV file container which is compatible with iTunes.
    2) On the other hand, if you want the final chaptered content to be in an M4V file container, you would probably do better to export the iMovie '08 project via the "Export using QuickTime" option as a high quality/high data rate compressed file, open it in GarageBand, chapter it, and then "Send" it on to iTunes using a selected target preset. This option re-compresses the audio and video and places them in the M4V file container along with your chapter track.
Note: Different file containers have different features/capabilities. For instance, if you use an internal frame as the "Poster" frame, then an MOV file would be fine here. If, on the other hand, you want to associate an external image file as your "Poster" frame in iTunes, the you would need to use an M4V or MP4 file container.

  • Still and title transition problem

    Premier Pro 1.5
    Encore 1.5
    1H 52Min finished SD video
All video content SD DV, same settings, same camera, same master tapes
All stills 480 max or 720 max with a black video layer below
    All titles made in PP1.5
Many music tracks along  with native audio from the clips
Everything went great, all transitions, stills and titles look good in the timeline. All looks good in the single file avi export from PP1.5 as played with windows media.
As soon as I import the avi into Encore 1.5 to author the DVD, a few transitions between stills and/or titles get scrambled. It happens on about 3 random transitions out of maybe 50 - 100 of them. Sometimes a transition effect (fade) is involved, sometimes there is no effect. An example is 2 stills or titles adjacent to each other with the same duration. After the import to Encore the durations get hosed and the second still or title flashes for less than a second.
Any ideas? Other than this problem this long and involved video is flawless.
    Thanks,
    George

For anyone following along at home. George got his Project done, and reports on it in this THREAD in the PrPro forum.
    Good luck to all,

  • Transitions flicker and flash when exported

Most of my clips have movement to them. The dissolve transitions have the green bar above them. After rendering these simple dissolve transitions in Final Cut, everything looks great. Playing within the program works perfectly. After "Export Movie" these same transitions flicker and flash and some of the clips end up with dark lines through them. I have tried flicker filter with inconsistent success. I have tried changing the length of the dissolve transition with inconsistent success. Any thoughts?
Thanks for any help that can be given.

I think I solved one issue. My still images were way to high resolution. I didn't think that could even be a problem. Also, two were tiff images. Converting them to jpg solved their problems. I turned off the field dominance which cleared up one of the dissolves that had a filter applied. I am still getting some jerky dissolves but at least they do not flash.
As for the codec, It looks like it is the HDV 1080i60. Where and/or how do I change the default Quicktime render from RGB to YUV or vice a versa.

  • IMovie'08 export problem

    I'm running into a problem with iMovie'08.
I developed a QuickTime component for importing our internal format video into iMovie. It works well with iMovie HD. But when I import my video into iMovie'08 and export it to 3gp or m4v file, I find the video lost(the audio is cerrect ).
I can build movie and preview it correctly, and I'm sure my 'imdc' component put out pictures, but the exported video is black.
The ElectricImageComponent, Apple's sample code, got the same problem.
I don't know what changes were made in iMovie'08 exporting process.
    I need help!

Welcome saintsdabu05 to the  iMovie boards ..
iMovie is no all-purpose-editor. .. it is meant by concept to import from camcorders.. which mostly use dv, ADVHD or mp2 as codecs ..
.avi is just a container, some say wrapper.. can contain all kind of codecs.. some codecs show this weird effect: imports fine into iM08, but on export no pic.
convert your flv into 'dv-stream' and off you go ..

  • Sound track from imovie not exporting to idvd

I set an audio track to video and photos in imovie from the ilife sound samples in the media section. When I send the movie to idvd, the video encodes but then idvd freezes at the encode audio part. The burn wheel stops turning, the scroll bar stops and then the rainbow pin wheel shows up. I have to force quit and the dvd does not burn to disc. What can I do to encode audio and complete the butn to disc?

    Hello, songthief!
    Welcome to the discussions!
What format was the commercial CD song? Did it play in iMovie?
You might want to re-record it to get it into a form that iDVD will burn. You can do this several ways. Here are two suggestions:
    1. Import the song into iTunes, then burn it to a CD. Reimport the song from the CD back into iTunes in AIFF, then import it into your iMovie.
    2. Record the song using WireTap Pro and import the AIC file that it creates into your imovie.
    Also, one more tip:
Don't send your iMovie to iDVD from WITHIN your iMovie. Close your finished iMovie, open iDVD, create your project and then drag/drop your iMovie into iDVD's main screen. You will find your movie in 'Media' ->'Movies.' This prevents double rendering of your clips, 'jaggies' in your final burned DVD and other problems.

Change the player to mplayer or something in the control panel (Sound and Multimedia - System notifications - Player Settings).
