IMovie 11 gone after formatting HD

I bought a Macbook Air some time ago and it came with iMovie 11 pre-installed. I just formatted the hard drive and iMovie is gone.
I've logged into the iTunes store and it shows I'd have to buy a copy of iMovie 10 (where is 11?)
How can I get iMovie 11 back? - Any help appreciated. Thanks.

Sign in to App store with the same Apple ID you had when you set up the Mac.
Try to buy iMovie.
It should say that iMovie is free.

  • IMovie files gone after a crash

Ok this is ******* me off all night already and I am about to throw my mac off the window...
This whole night I've been working on this music video and my iMovie encountered 2 crashes because of audio files error, both times I open it up the files are gone except for the ones I've already exported to YouTube. I am running the latest version of iMovie on Mavericks, a MacBook Pro Version 10.9.2. The funny thing is it indicates "All projects - 1 of 3 selected" while it only shows 2 exported projects, then where is the 3rd one? Because the 3rd one is the one I am working on and they took it away >< help me, please, all my hard work of 5 hours gone to... gone to I don't even know where!!!!

Not sure what Apple IS stands for and have no clue how to find mine.
Looking through my file and the box my computer came in and I don't have restore disks or codes for Mac or anything. (I do have the disks and codes for the Office:mac which Geek Squad also installed at purchase.)
I found the booklet that came with the computer. On the first page I find the title:
"Welcome to your MacBook Pro" and the facing page says, "OS X Lion" and pictures/descriptions of things I'm assuming came with the computer. It has Mission Control, Launchpad, Mac App Store, Mail, iPhoto, iMovie, GarageBand.
It makes me aware I should also have back iChat, iMovie and Garage Band (I hadn't missed those because I rarely used them) but those are missing too and used to be here.

  • My imovie had a question mark over it after updating and now imovie is gone.

After updating my imac the imovie icon had a question mark superimposed on it, after clicking on it it disappeared and now imove is gone, how do I retrieve it?

What did you update from and to and how old is the version of iMovie you have?
Sounds like the iMovie you have there is a PPC app which is no longer supported in Lion or Mountain Lion. If that is the case you will need to purchase a new version of the app.

    1) The people responding in this forum are just other Apple product users like you, not Apple itself.  Apple Support Communities is primarily an end-user to end-user (i.e., users like you helping other users) technical issue support feature. Feedback will truly get more attention if you send it using:

    2)  At some stage developers decide it isn't worth the expense of supporting older technology. If I had my way you could still connect iOS7 to OS9, but Apple has decided to make the limit OS 10.6.8  Nor do I like that I can't get spare parts for my 33 year old car...
    Suggestions...
If you are not going to always be running the newest technology always read software requirements before doing any upgrades.  I run a 12 year old computer and yes, I see there are things I can't run (many), but I also then avoid buying any incompatible new technology.  The system requirements are printed on the side of the box (albeit in 9 point medium gray font on light gray box   )  Do not expect the Apple Store people to check with you about your computer first.  I bet half of them were still in grade school when my computer was produced and none of them could possibly imagine anybody would run anything older than 6 years (probably not even that, more like 4).
Why not buy Snow Leopard?  Of course you do not say what model computer you are using, but if you can run Snow Leopard on your computer there's no advantage to staying with Leopard.  Snow Leopard costs $20 which is minimal compared to you now no longer being able to sync your phone.

  • IPhoto and iMovie gone after Mavericks upgrade

I upgraded my MacBook Pro to Mavericks and lost ALL of my applications.  I finally have most everything back in order, but iPhoto and iMovie are gone and now the App Store says I need to purchase them.
Why should I have to purchase them when I already own them from the purchase of my MacBook Pro? Getting a free Mavericks upgrade should not cause me to have to spend $30 to get the applications back that I already owned in the first place.
Please help me restore those two applications.
    Thanks,
    Greg

    so please read my responce
2 - to get them back you reinstall from the original source - which may be the restore disk that came with your computer, a purchased iLife upgrade or the app store using the Apple ID  you used to set your computer up
Maybe it is clearer using bullet points rather that standard English puncuation
To get them back you reinstall from the original source
    which may be
1 - The restore disk that came with your computer,
    2 - a purchased iLife upgrade or
3 - the app store using the Apple ID  you used to set your computer up - in this case you go to the App store under purchases
Only you know what the original source is
As as to who should pay for yoru mistake  --  obviously if your mistake creates a cost then you should pay the cost you created - pretty simple stuff
As to Time Machine - yes they should be there but it is better to reinstall them - copying from a backup dose not work well for applications

  • My iMovie 9 will not install after formatting hard drive and installing Mavericks what are my options?

I have not used my iMovie ever since I formatted my Hard Drive and installed Mavericks. I went to put the disk in from when ilife was originally shipped with the computer and it just spits the disk right back out of the superdrive. Is there anything I can do to not have it just spit a disk out without asking for user input. Any help would be greatly appreciated, I don't want to buy the new version.

Here are the original specs of your computer. The specs state that the original hard drive was 320GB. You have since replaced the factory drive with a 1TB (1000GB) hard drive. The HP recovery routine seems to have issues with hard drives that deviate from the original size. The partition issues you are experiencing may be a result of this. As for the rest of your issues, it sounds like the SP3 install went bad.
If I were you, I would consider reinstalling the OS using your recovery discs by doing a complete "destructive" reinstall/recovery. Afterward, I would post the size of both the c: and d: partitions... and go from there.

  • HT201250 How to recover iPhoto Library after format of hard drive?

I've recently reinstalled Lion onto my hard drive but I forgot to backup my iPhoto library. Is there any way of recovering this library? I also have an external hard drive that had Time Machine Backups but that hard drive has since gone through formats as well. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you

SOLUTION : iPhoto folder recovered after formatting hard drive by mistake.
I was able for recover my iPhoto library ( intact ) after formatting the hard drive by mistake.
On top of that I formatted it in FAT32 format. My iPhoto folder was huge 100GB with file and movies of all sort of formats. I kept it on a secondary hard drive of 500 GB. one day I was formatting flash drive for somebody which was 500Mb, seems similar to my 500GB and I formatted my hard drive by mistake. I realized the mistake a week after the person called me and said there is nothing in flash disk and I find a single file on my hard drive. Needless to say the earth disappeared underneath me. All my pictures for 10 years , 8000 thousand of them, cherished memories all gone. But was I determined to find them back and I know they are intact somewhere. My biggest fear was that formatting on MS-dos format might have really deleted them , but they were there. and here is how I got them back.
First I tried the Data recuse 3 software. I got the photos back,  but they were all jumbled up. Long numerical file names and original dates were gone. No way I could sort it out back to the way it was before . So my target was to recover the iPhoto folder intact.
    - I bought an external hard drive with 1tb space to retrieve the data.
    - The software which did the miraculous job is called  " STELLAR PHOENIX MAC DATA RECOVERY" .
    - I ran a deep scan all night and came up with many volumes.  volume-1 was the MS dos , volume 2 was a mac system,
    - I tried MS dos volume first and there was nothing on it.
    - I tried the 2 volume with mac system. It got all my files and some other system file.
    - I could see the iPhoto folder and click on that only to recover. After that I went for my doc and other files later.
    - It took hours to retrieve my iPhoto folder intact, The folder size was right and file were there in master folder.
    - I checked in FINDER , opening iPhoto with "show content " and all my picture file were there with original date.
    - BUT when tried opening it in iPhoto , there was nothing. it keep showing the wait icon and nothing shows up. Empty iPhoto.
    - I tired starting iPhoto , holding command -option and tried building and repairing database, nothing worked.
    - Then I got this software " iPhoto library manager" .
    - downloaded, installed it and pointed it towards my iPhoto folder.
    - It asked for space to rebuild a new iPhoto library with existing picture and folder.
I had another external hard drive , I used it to make a rebuild  iPhoto library.
and there I GOT IT. only took three night of pain.
    IMPORTANT:
I never touched my original formatted hard drive. Don't write anything on it until you are sure you have recovered everything. open and see files with your own eyes.
    - I recovered the iPhoto on another hard drive and then built it on another hard drive . Yes its pain in the neck but well worth fixing your stupid mistake of not making a back up in the first place.
I hope this helps all who are looking for iPhoto recovery and their lovely memories.

  • Problems after formatting - MS7046

Ok well this is basically the problem and situation.... :
    Recently formatted my pc:
    Advent T9202
    Intel p4 3.4ghz
    400gb hdd
    1gb ram
    x600 pro 256 pci-e
Gone into mirc and done /sysinfo this is what i have according to it:
    x86 Family 15 Model 3 Stepping 4
    Socket 478
    Micro-Star International MS-7046
After formatting i received errors with windows. Errors popping up saying system restarting bla bla in so many seconds. I then re-formatted and re-installed windows XP again.
I no longer get these errors, however when i go into device manager and try and get drivers for my shizzle it doesn't let me / can't find any.
I also cannot download SP2 now and my sound card is 'none detected'.
XP Home Edition Vers: 5.1.2600 SP1
    Boot device: DeviceHarddiskVolume2
I have got the internet and my modem working (as you can see)
Anyone have any clue of how i can fix this/ if there are CDs that have all drivers for certain PCs on them etc ?
Thanks for any help in advance !
Tried to find the correct drivers, got the gfx ones installed, can't install/find the correct drivers for the sound.

I think your sysinfo is pretty old. I can't remember there's a Socket 478 board with PCI-e display card. MS-7046 is a 915p chipset board. All you need is get the driver from intel.com, the Intel Chipset INF driver, that's the very most important one. For sound, take a look at the chip on the board, is it ALCxxx? or something else?
    ALCxxx, goto www.realtek.com.tw
If it's some other model, I suggest you do a search in google.com and find the drivers... same applicable for LAN, etc etc.
    Here's the manual : http://www.yakumo.de/downloads/drivers/PC/Boards/MSI%20MS%207046/Manual/ms7046v1.0.pdf
Although I dun really read the manual as I prefer to look at the board physically to know what exactly this board has, instead of refering to the "generic" manual that cover more than 1 products

  • Format iPhone, my USB thumb drive went from W/R speeds of about 250 to 10mb/s after a while, speed went normal after format. Can this be happening to old iphones? How to format them from the ground up?

I've read that because of the way they handle files, SSDs go slow over the time unless you apply protocols to handle the empty space. I noticed in a USB thumbdrive (Sandisk Extreme USB 3.0 64GB) that ovet the time and use it went from speeds around 250mb/s to about 10, I formated (full format, not a quick erase) it and it again performs properly. I have a old iPhone 4 that became very very slow over the time, more than what I would expect from it not keeping up with iOS 7. Could it be happening something like this? Maybe formating it from the ground up would speed it up a bit (ultimately is the same kind of memory holding the OS).
Is there a way to format it like that?
I would appreciate any insight on this.

    Hi amilcarfrombarcelona,
It is possible to reset your iPhone back to its original settings using iTunes. See this article for the procedure -
Use iTunes to restore your iOS device to factory settings
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414
Please note that any data - including but not limited to documents, music, movies and TV shows that is stored on the iPhone will be gone after the restore. Any data that you do not want to lose MUST be backed up before the reset. See this article for methods -

  • How to install old bookmarks after formating PC but I didn't back up anything?

I just reformatted my laptop without back up any Bookmarks.
After formatting & installing Firefox, I realize that none of my Bookmarks are at Firefox.
Please let me know any possible way to install back my old bookmarks as some are very important to me as don't know where to find back.

Ok so it's evident you don't want help here, so here's the answer. If you didn't backup Firefox, then you lost all your Firefox bookmarks. I tried to ask you if you made any other backups that possibly included Firefox's data, but you refused to answer. So I'm assuming you didn't, which means, your Firefox data is gone. Sorry. You should have backed it up.

  • I can't get imovie to open after trying to shift the image to my TV by clicking fn F3.  If I hold the mouse on the imovie icon for a few seconds the imovie window opens but if I click anywhere on the window it disappears

I can't get imovie to open after trying to shift the image from my macbook pro to the tv screen like I have done many times before.  If I double click on the imovie icon, imovie doesn't open, but the strip across the top shows iMovie, file, edit , clip, view, text share window help tabs across the top.  The iMovie window will appear if I click on the iMovie icon on the dock for a few seconds, or if I do control F3 at the same time, but when I click on the window it disappears.  When I hover the mouse over the iMovie window that appears the window has a blue border around it.  when I move the mouse outside the iMovie window the blue border goes away.  If I sweep 4 fingers from the top of the screen down, the screen dims a little but the iMovie window doesn't appear. If I click play under the view tab I can hear audio, but still no iMovie window.  It's as if the window is being blocked by the desk top somehow.

    Similar issues here.
I purchased five movies for download and having nothing but problems getting them downloaded. I keep receiving error messages and the download stops and I have to restart it, just to get another minute worth of download with each restart. Now Apple has my money and I have nothing.

  • IMovie for Mac: "iMovie cannot open files in the "iMovie for iOS Project" format."

    Question, asked professionally
When will iMovie for Mac be able to open iMovie for iOS projects?
    Question, asked snarkily
Any reasonable expectation that we will ever be able to edit projects--created in iMovie on our fancy new expensive phones--in iMovie on our fancy new expensive laptops?
    Specs

    iOS 8.1.2
    iMovie for IOS 2.1.1
    MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid-2014)

    Error Messages
iMovie for Mac: "iMovie cannot open files in the "iMovie for iOS Project" format."
iMovie for iOS: "An error occurred during export."
    Frustration
Manufacturer: Apple (a multibillion dollar company)
    The year: 2015
    Hours lost: Three Weeks
Total costs for both devices: $4,000
    Background Details
I just wasted thousands of dollars on these two hardware devices by making the rookie mistake of assuming projects were compatible across iMovie applications. However, the exported .iMovieMobile project files are in an incompatible iMovie for iOS Project format that iMovie for Mac cannot import. So I am stuck with a 15 GB .iMovieMobile project file--for an hour-long+ video--that I created and I was editing on my iPhone for weeks that I can no longer edit on my iPhone due to an error, nor potentially rescue the lost hours on my Mac, the sole reason I purchased it one day ago. The reason I can no longer edit the project on the iPhone is because iMovie for iOS suddenly stopped displaying the video of the project in preview, external display, etc. The clip snapshots remain visible and the audio remains audible, but the video appears fully black. Any attempt to export the video at any resolution generates an error message. (This error applies only to this project; other projects export without issue.) I can save to and from iTunes or iCloud without issue, but import into iMovie for Mac is unavailable for this latest version. Deleting and reinstalling the app does not resolve the issue. Nothing has resolved this issue; so I purchased the Mac as a last attempt, and it appears that I will have to begin the meticulously painful process of recreating the video from scratch with all the titling, sound effects, precise edits, transitions, organization, etc. This video was to surprise my mother for her birthday with "this is your life" footage, including my late father. It may seem like a small first-world problem, but such things carry big emotional impacts. What began as such a wonderfully intuitive and joyful experience has descended into a soul-suffering nightmare of catastrophic proportions. This software grinch stole christmas.
    Likely Suspect
I believe this originated from Apple's confusingly designed iTunes client that removed videos used by iMovie for IOS during a sync, which I successfully restored back to the iPhone. This apparently resulted in iOS seeking and then claiming to find all of the videos, but somehow a bug in the coding causes the audio to play but not display video, and no way to resolve the bug from an enduser standpoint. I was hoping that iMovie for Mac would allow me a workaround, but I'll never know because the iOS and Mac formats are currently and dishearteningly incompatible.
    Suggestions
I never performed a full backup of the iPhone, but I don't believe any of the iCloud nor local backups actually backup iMovie projects themselves anyway. (That's a fail.) So one must back them up manually to iTunes or iCloud.
MANUALLY BACKUP YOUR PROJECTS DAILY, IF NOT HOURLY.
MANUALLY BACKUP YOUR PROJECTS BEFORE IMPORTING OR SYNCING FROM ITUNES.
MANUALLY BACKUP YOUR PROJECTS BEFORE IMPORTING VIDEO CREATED OUTSIDE  OF YOUR IOS DEVICE.
    Resolutions
Hope Apple fixes this problem soon? Perhaps.
Return the Mac to Apple, if they allow? Perhaps.
Someone in this community will provide a magical workaround--that I haven't already attempted? Perhaps.
As unlikely these options may be, I shudder to imagine that I may be forced to suffer no resolution and $3,000+ completely down the drain, because if iMovie for IOS worked as intended, I wouldn't have ever purchased the Mac as a last ditch effort to rescue the project. It meant that much to me to surprise my mother by attempting to retrieve this project file from oblivion--but to no avail.

I appreciate you taking the time to copy and paste boilerplate responses to increase your points in this forum, but I've already read all those support articles in depth; but you have barely read my post at all. Please don't guess a fix. Only someone with the latest versions of iMovie, iOS, iPhone, Yosemite, and MacBook Pro is qualified to troubleshoot this, because anyone would immediately see that the following option no longer exists:
Open iMovie on your Mac, and choose File > Import > iMovie for iOS Project.
Read my post before you reply: It clearly says in the title and within my post that I can neither export nor import through iTunes without receiving an error message. So your response neither solved my question nor helped me whatsoever.

  • HFS File system with case sensitive is not accepted to install creative cloud? Is there any other way but install the whole MacOS again after formatting the drive. I cannot belief that Adobe is so bad to it's Mac customers..

After many hours setting up OS10.10 from he scratch the last step should be installing m Adobe apps again.
trying this I always get the error message that creative cloud does not accept case sensitive file systems and I shall use another drive.
This means I have to set up the whole machine again after formatting without case sensitive but then having copy problems with my NAS?
