IMOVIE 11 INSTALL

IS IT POSSIBLE TO INSTALL IMOVIE 11 ON IMAC POWERMAC 8.2, G5 (3.1) RUNNING TIGER.  I KNOW I WOULD NEED TO UPGRADE, BUT IS IMOVIE 11 A POSSIBILITY WITH AVAILABLE UPGRADES?

No.
iMovie 11 only works on Intel Macs running Snow Leopard or later.

When I purchased my Mac I bought it with Apps installed, when I go to update them, it says I need to update on a different Apple account. I have only ever had one Apple account, what can I do? The Apps are iPhoto, iMovie, Pages, and Keynote. Thanks for your help. Looking forward to suggestions.

  • Originally had iMovie installed in my MBP. Right now running 10.7.5

It came with my Mac when I purchased the Mac.
    I have iPhoto/Garage Band.
I don't know how iMovie was deleted, but here's what shows up when I try to do searches, etc:
    (no iMovie in App list)

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
If your Mac didn't come with DVDs, open App Store > Purchases and install iMovie. If it came with discs, insert the Applications DVD and install iMovie from this

  • Cannot upgrade, says I already have iMovie installed.

I get two messages to update iMovie and iPhoto. When I go to update I get a message that says I already have them installed check iMovie is already installed on this computer. Choose Software Update from the Apple menu to check for available updates.  I'm going round in circles.  I did upgrade it on my iMac but I cannot do it on my MacBook Pro. Retina, which I purchased in 2012.   I get the same message for iPhoto. My question, why can't I upgrade?

On my MacBook Pro, it is OSx 10.8.3, 2.6GHZ, Inter Cor 17, 8GB 1600 MHz DDR3
The iMovie I have is iMovie 11 ver 9.08 and the update would take me to 9.0.9
The iPhoto I have is iPhoto 11 9.4.2 and the update is 9.4.3
As I said I try to upgrade these and get they are already installed, choose software update from the apple menu.
    Can you help?

  • Help! Imovie install erased newer version

I am on Snow Leopard and find it infuriating to work in the imovie version that comes with it. I installed an older version of imovie hd 5. That was a disaster and now the regular imovie is no longer working. How do I install the imovie that came with Snow Leopard? Thanks!

the re-install disks of your Mac offer all apps.
MacOs disks do not contain any apps..
    (a bit confusing...)
you can manually choose to install the iApps only...

  • I have a brand new iMac that does not have iDVD. Made a move on iMovie installed a 3rd party burn prog. but DVD won't playback on my regular dvd player. Need to burn one that will. Help!

My new iMac did not come with iDVD as they are not using iDVD any longer.  I made a movie that I needed to put on a DVD that would play on any external DVD player. After calling Apple twice, they recommened a 3rd party program so I downloaded "Burn-osx" and made the DVD; however when i insert it into my player connected to the TV it gives the message "disk error --playback feature may not be available on this disk".  Ok--now what?  I am up against a time line here--need the DVD for a graduation party! Help! What am I not doing correctly?

I have a brand new iMac
If you are still within your 15 day return period.  Call Apple they will sent out iDVD at no charge.  (There are no realistic substitutes.)
Nicely explain that you may return the computer without iDVD. That usually does the trick.  You MUST speak to a senior advisor to get a free copy. The first tier people cannot do it.

If that doesn't work you can purchase iLife 11  (includes iDVD) on disk.
IDVD is a wonderful piece of software and well worth the low cost of $40.

Yes, there are programs that will put a movie on a DVD.   I have tried most of the other substitutes including Toast, Burn, and others.  None of them come anywhere near the ease-of-use and power of iDVD. IDVD is specifically designed to work with iMovie. Get iDVD.

  • IMovie install problems

I just upgraded to iLife '08, and am having problems launching iMovie. My iMac seems to meet all of the system rqmts, and Quicktime 7.2 also meets. I've tried removing and reinstalling just iMovie and still iMovie hangs up when I try to launch. Anyone else experience this problem?

  • After installing  iMovie 4 my Bookmarks have disappeared!

Actually, several things happened after installing iMovie. My ethernet adapter wouldn't work, but fixed that...kinda. It will now recognize my ethernet adapter if I plug it in after I boot. I also can no longer find my Download folder. There were three Download folders. One was the temporary one (I'm talking about that little Download window which pops up so you can see what you're downloading). Another one had all my downloads. Another, for some reason, had only 4 downloads from when I first began using the Powerbook 7 years ago. That one I can find. But the main one is gone. I just installed the update for iMovie (4.0.1) but that didn't do anything. Previous to installing iMovie I renamed my "Home" icon, but after the iMovie install it has reverted to the old name and when I try to change it back it says the name is already taken. I tried using Finder to retrieve the name I had changed the Home icon to, but it doesn't come up with anything. Is there a way to revert of they system settings before I installed iMovie 4?

I doubt that anything related to iMovie will fix your problem. iMovie has nothing to do with your ethernet adapter or with Safari's downloads folder and bookmarks. You probably need to go to the OS X discussion area.

  • IMovie app not installed properly?

I have iMovie installed on my iPad2 and it often appears to be installing updates when I haven't asked it to (the icon on the home screen goes grey and waiting appears) no other apps do this? Help?

See my first post in this topic:
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/21371126#21371126
Trashing the preference file may help, as I've outlined in the topic I've linked to. Otherwise, follow the steps regarding removing 3rd party QuickTime components. Also, see the final post by the OP (EEye87) regarding how his problem was resolved (a combination of trashing the preference file and the 3ivx component).

  • GarageBand and iMovie not installing after restore

    Hello,
I have an iPad 2, it had GarageBand and iMovie installed before iOS 5.1 no problems.
I updated to iOS 5.1 and it was all fine...2 days later I am listening to a podcast and suddenly the audio cut out.  I tried playing music and video and still nothing! So I tried all the obvious stuff restarting etc and eventually had to run a full restore from my backup.
This finally worked and my audio is back but now iTunes will not install iMovie or GarageBand despite the fact I own them and I have the latest iOS. If I go to iTunes on iPad and lookup the software it come up with the cost instead of the expected "install" option.
I would also confirm I had already had everything synced correctly.
Any suggestions? I don't fancy another 2 hours restoring my iPad again!

Sometimes when you update the software, the settings seem to go a little wacky and simple things like restarts, resets, and signing in and out of your ID can cure so many little issues. When I've updated in the past, I have had little issues that could not be logically explained - at least in my mind. So I start with the simple stuff.
I'm glad that you were able to download and install the apps again.

  • IMovie v6.0.3 and iMovie 08 install at the same time?

Can I have 2 version of iMovie installed at the same time? I want to view and maybe use the new version (in iLive08), but everything I have heard about it is not good. I'd like the option to keep the version 6.0.3.
    Thanks

I don't have iLife 08 but AFAIK unlike earlier versions it doesn't overwrite iMovie 1-6.
And besides, if you copied & renamed earlier versions before installing iMovie 1-6, the old version co-existed very nicely with the new version. For example: you want to keep iMovie 4 before installing iMovie 5-6: duplicate iMovie, rename the duplicate as iMovie 4.0.1, install iMovie 5-6 -> voila: you have iMovie 4.0.1 and iMovie HD (5-6).
Some people have almost all iMovie versions in their Applications folder for testing purposes

  • How do I install iMovie 11 on Mavericks?

I have a new, late model iMac, which is a great machine, but the new iMovie 10 does not have chapter markers. I would like to install iMovie 11(which does have chapter markers)  in a folder within the appications folder. When I try to install the program, however, iMovie is grayed out and I can not install it. Is there a way to install it on an iMac running Mavericks?

Pacifist worked great! It is shareware, and the author requests a 20.00 donation. I was able to use Pacifist to extract iMovie 11 (version 9.0) from my old iLife disc and install it to a folder that I created in my applications. I opened iMovie and it works perfectly, but I of course tried to run update, and was able to download iMovie 9.0.9 (the latest update), but it would not install. I got an error message saying, "You already have the lateset version of iMovie installed."(iMovie 10 (version 13)) Needless to say I just turned back to Pacifist and extracted the .pkg into the same iMovie folder I created. I was able to open the updated iMovie 9.0.9 and then just dropped the "old" 9.0 into the trash. Thanks for the great tip.

  • Re-installing iMovie 08, how?

Please help: my iMovie, installed via Leopard dvd, does not work properly and shows a music&sounds menu bar basically different from the one showed in the training movies published by Apple. Well no one seems to be able to help me about this bug so I decided to re-install iMovie from the dvd sent to me by Apple after having bought my new iMac, but i cannot find it on the dvd. The dvd is called upgrade wen i put it in my driver. How can I solve this problem please? THNX

Recently I installed iMovie 06 on my new iMac, because I didn't like the new iMovie 08. Basically because one cannot make chapters. iMovie 06 help isn't working and iDVD doesn't work too; iDVD was installed together with iMovie 06, there was no option.
In short, I am in the same boat; I want to have iMovie 08 and iDVD 08 reinstalled. Better not so good programs than buggy or not working programs.
My new iMac came with Tiger and an upgrade DVD with Leopard. I installed Leopard and everything worked fine, until I mixed up with the iLife programs. The upgrade DVD will only install and upgrade the system with all the tools and bells. However, I already made an update to 10.5.1, so I can only made a complete reinstall ... back to 10.5.0.
Another option is to buy iLife 08 and install the (not so good) software from the DVD/CD. Probably, I will wait and look for a friend who has iLife 08 and borrow it. I don't like this behavior, I can say the 99% of my software are legally purchased copies, anyway, I do have paid for the stuff, every dime.
