IMovie 6.0.3 timeline conundrum: adding photo without losing sync

How does one add a photo to an existing video with audio in 6.0.3 so that it simply replaces, for example, 5 seconds of the video WITHOUT moving the rest of the video?  IOW, I don't want the video or audio to move at all, just for the inserted image to replace the 5 seconds of video at that place.  I can't seem to do it without the video shifting 5 seconds.  I have extracted the audio and tried every combination of locking audio and dragging the photo to no avail.
Obviously it's a simple thing, but I can't find any reference to this in any literature!  :  )    Thanks.

    If you mean "optimizing for iPad," no.

  • IMovie - I have video interview and added photos. I want to add sound to the photos. They are at the end of the video. I added one free music sound over the start of the photo section. How do I continue to add music to the following photos?

    iMovie 11 Version 9.0.8
    My iMovie starts with an taped interview then I added photos.When I added sound it went over the video, so I moved it down over the photos. I want to add more sound (music) over the remaining photos. How do I insert background music at a specific area?

  • How to Move Easily move photos without losing any changes

    Hi,
    I've built up a large number of photos in Lightroom which include cropping information, WB and color adjustments, ratings, etc. I currently have the photos stored in individual folders underneath C:\Users\profile\Desktop\Photos, and would now like to relocate ALL photos to the default path for Vista "C:\Users\profile\Pictures."
    How can I do this without losing any of my edits, ratings, etc.? Will I be able to move all of the folders at once, or will I need to handle them folder by folder?
    Thank You for any help ca ncan give newbie!

    Bradley,
    Leaving the catalog on the laptop and keeping your originals on an external drive is definitely the way to setup LR. I would go even one further, and use a small USB drive for the catalog, and a different SET of drives for your originals.
    The lrcat file in itself is relatively small, but the preview folder can be really huge, taking up a huge amount of space on your drive (many gigabytes).
    By keeping your catalog on a removable drive, it makes it very easy to use the catalog on more than one system by just plugging in the drive, and maybe 'finding' the folders again if necessary.

  • Sync photos without losing apps?

    Hi.
    I want to sync ONE PHOTO to my ipad, but it says:
    Are you sure you want to remove 14 apps, including “app's name”, from the iPad “name”? This will delete these apps and their data from the iPad.
    Please help me!
    thanks!

    Those links are specifically referring to music, not other content like apps and photos.  You can always re-download apps, but you may lose app data, and that can include photos.  You can import photos by Cancelling sync when you connect the iPad to the new computer and then opening Image Capture (assuming you're connecting to a Mac, I'm not sure what the procedure would be on Windows).  Also, it would be a good idea to choose the Transfer Purchases option when you eventually do sync.

  • Adding photos without erasing content

    We manually manage my daughter's iPod on our main Mac, as far as her music goes. She now wants to add a few photos, which of course can't be done manually. I'm concerned that even though we have the 'manage things manually' check box still ticked, going to the Photos tab, checking the 'sync' box and attempting to sync a folder of photos will erase everything else. Am I correct in this assumption?

    The remaining answer: I just switched my ipod to "manual managing music" and tried to add some photos I took today. I would have lost my pictures on the ipod if I had applied syncing the new ones, because I changed my Aperture library and the pictures on the ipod where missing in the new library.
    So I guess you would not lose pictures if you have the same pictures still in your folder/library on your computer and just add a new folder to sync. But pictures not being present on your Mac and showing up on your daughters ipod will be deleted. Since you can't download the pictures back to your Mac, unless you use 3rd party software like http://www.wideanglesoftware.com/touchcopy/ , you can't sync without erasing the photos on the ipod.

  • Can I change resolution of a photo without losing any quality, for Retina ready photos?

    Hi there
    I would like to prepare some photos for Retina display screens (not for printing) and was told that in order to do this, I need to increase the resolution of my images from 72dpi to 240dpi.
    Many of my original photos are 3000 x 1875 pixel size at 72dpi resolution. What I wanted to know is that if I uncheck 'resample image' in the 'image size' dialogue box and increase the resolution from 72dpi to 240dpi, will my image suddenly be Retina ready without ANY loss of quality?
    I find it hard to get my head around the fact that you can simply raise the resolution of an image in this way with no adverse affect to the quality.
    If anyone can help me with this, I would be very appreciative.

    One last question to clarify if I may: On a website where I have small fixed photos of 568 x 376px, what image size should I be uploading at to make this size of photo 'retina ready'?
    I had previously mentioned above (with a link to support) that images for retina should be doubled in size. With your required pixel dimensions of 568x376, ideally you should be making them 1136x752. In HTML, your image code would look something like this:
    <img src="img_1136x752.jpg" width="568" height="376" />
    If you wanted it to be fluid, you could then overwrite that in the stylesheet by adding something like:
    img.fluid {
         max-width:568px;
         max-height:376px;
         width:100%;
         height:auto;
    <img src="img_1136x752.jpg" width="568" height="376" class="fluid" />

  • Running out of internal storage space! Want to make room by deleting photos WITHOUT LOSING MY PHOTOS! Can I delete the Camera Roll yet still keep my photos in Photo Stream?? Will doing this free up ios storage? Does Photo Stream auto delete ever?

    Hello, I am out of internal storage on my Iphone 4 ALREADY (Just purchased 3 months ago!). I need to clear up some space so I can do updates and take new photos. I was thinking about backing up my Photo Stream to the icloud and then deleting my Camera Roll.
    1.) Is this a terrible idea??? I do NOT want to lose those photos! But I NEED more space on my phone!
    2.) Will deleting Camera Roll free up space (a sufficient amount? My Camera Roll is at 4.5 GB)?
    3.) Will deleting Camera Roll delete my photos from Photo Stream also? It doesn't seem to.
    4.)  Does Photo Stream ever automatically delete photos???
    5.)  Is there anyway I can save the pictures from my phone to my computer??? I can see the photos on my computer when viewing them through Photo Stream, but those are not permanent, correct?
    This is one of the most ridiculous, confusing and unnessacary things I've ever known! Why oh why can't we just have a good ol' SD Card??? (My Droid never ever ran out of storage and I had it for 2 years...)
    I tried backing up my photos in Itunes, but I don't have a new enough version. I tried downloading a new itunes and it still tells me I don't have the new version.
    I have been working on this for 4 hours, its 2:30 am and I am going to bed. I am sorry I had to ask, but I've been searching and searching and just cannot find the answers. Thank you so much for your help!
    6.) Also, I haven't been able to find the videos using the Icloud or the Photo Stream either...
    7.) Do you have to have your device (pc) synced with icloud to access the info you backed up from iphone?? Like can I show my cousin my photos at her house using her computer by just loggin on??? Or can I only view my contacts, calender, mail, notifications, and such?
    8.) Where on the icloud would one find text messages or other saved info??
    Thank you so very much for helping me!!!

    What I would say is best is to import the videos and photos to your computer so that you can delete camera roll photos with a copy of them in your possession:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4083
    In regards to backing up Photo Stream
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4486:
    Does Photo Stream use my iCloud storage?
    "No. Photos uploaded to My Photo Stream or Shared Photo Streams do not count against your iCloud storage."
    However, you can do the tedious task of moving your camera roll pictures to photo stream by ensuring photo stream is turned on for your device and take a screen shot of each picture in your camera roll to move it over.
    To take a screen shot, just press the "Home Button" and the "Sleep/Wake Button" at the same time while viewing the image.
    1.)  It's not a terrible idea, it can be tedious though.
    2.)  Deleting a bunch of photos/videos from a camera roll 4.5GB in size can definitely free up space
    3.)  Photo Stream photos, as you said, appear to stay upon deleting the photos.  (Tested it personally)
    4.)  Photo Stream has a limit according to:  (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4858)
              Essentially, it won't erase your photos until you tell it to.
    5.)  http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4083  (As shown above)
    6.)  To update iTunes, you must download and then "Run" the download you get off the website.  Otherwise you will just have an installer program sitting there not updating iTunes.
    7.)  You can bring up your Photo Stream pictures anywhere you have Photo Stream capabilities.  For a computer at someone else's house, they would have to have the iCloud control panel (http://support.apple.com/kb/dl1455) on their computer and be signed into their Photo Stream and viewing your profile's pictures (http://support.apple.com/kb/ts4379)
    8.)  On iCloud, you can backup your text messages, but you cannot view them independently on www.icloud.com.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4859
    "You get 5 GB of free iCloud storage for:
    Photos and videos in the Camera Roll
    Device settings (for example: Phone Favorites, Wallpaper, and Mail, Contacts, Calendar accounts)
    App data
    Home screen and app organization
    Messages (iMessage, SMS, and MMS)
    Ringtones
    Visual Voicemails"
    Hope some of this information helps!

  • How can I crop a photo without losing quality?

    I am trying to crop photos and then have them printed to poster size.
    The pictures are all 1.2 mb or larger. When I crop them the resulting picture (jpeg) is so small it lacks the resolution for enlarging to poster size.
    Is there a way to crop a picture while retaining the quality so it can be enlarged?
    Thanks

    iPhoto has a dpi limit that it uses for alerting users that the resolution of the photo may not be enough for quality prints. The screenshot below are those limits in iPhoto's preference file:
    Click to view full size
    However, when ordering prints thru Apple that limit seems to have been raised a bit.
    The following are the resolution limits and warning that Apple has put on 4 different sized images I prepared for printing to give you an ideal of what to shoot for. Remember, many have used image smaller than what iPhoto warned at and were happy with them. It's all subjective.

  • Adding Content Without Completely Syncing iPhone

    Is there any way to add new content (i.e.- Ringtones, Pictures, etc.) to my iPhone without completely erasing and reloading my phone. Because I'm using a different computer than normal and I don't want my other content over-written, but I'd like to add 2 new ringtones.

    You can set the iPhone to manually manage music and videos in iTunes. You then click the apply button. Now you can click on the iPhone in the left pane and drag and drop music and videos and ringtones without syncing. I'm not sure about photos, I haven't tried that yet.

  • Adding ringtones without iTunes syncing?

    Is it possible to add .m4r ringtones to my iPhone 5 without using iTunes to sync?

    No.  Apple really has us locked into iTunes to prevent pirating and sharing.  This is really does mar the user experience as far as most people are concerned.  Because some people share songs, ringtones, movies, etc.  We all have to play in the iTunes Sandbox.

  • I want to start with audio on a timeline and add photos. Why is this not possible in the new confusing version of iMovie?

    I want to start with audio on a timeline and add photos. Why is this not possible in the new confusing version of iMovie?
    Yrs,
    Unspeakably Frustrated

    Yes, you can do this. Drag the music track to the background and start adding your pictures. A great way to do this is to use beat markers so your photos will change on the beat.
    A really fast way to do this is to line up your photos in an iPhoto album in the order you want them. You can drag the whole album into iMovie at once.
    Here is a tutorial on the beat marker feature.
    Here is a sample of a slideshow made by dragging in the music first, adding beat markers, and then adding photos.

  • How to stop duplications in iMovie so you can add and see new added photos

    How can i stop duplications and where can I find a way to stop and add more photos onto an iMovie project?
    I like the app but that doesn't help me being creative if I can't add more photos and only duplicates the last photos that was added before. How can I avoid duplication and see my new added photos in my created iMovie project????

    You'll know if QT pro is not installed because the majority of menus will have 'get pro' annoyingly stamped on to them. QT pro predominantly releases the ability to export.
    For what you need you would probably be better off taking your movies in to iTunes, under the playback prefs choose 'playback video in artwork viewer'. You can then drag the screen to increase the size of the artwork viewer.
    Cheers

  • Adding photos to video in new iMovie?

    How can I add a photo into my video over a part that I am talking in in the new iMovie? For example, in the old iMovie we could "picture in picture" a photo or overlap a photo. How can we do that in the new iMovie?

    Simply click on the plus sign under Albums and create a new album with a new name.
    Select the photos for the album and drag them into the album.

  • Does iMovie '11 have a timeline for precision editing?

    I want to create a youtube video that has a song playing in the background and I want certain photos to appear at precise moments. In iMovie '09' I don't seem to have the precise control to edit, on a timeline, when certain photos should appear. Will iMovie '11' do this? Or do I need to buy Final Cut Express 4 ?
    Thanks!
