IMovie 8 (version 7.1 (506) just installed - lost audio on import

There I was happily importing our video podcasts (.m4v files) and editing them down to 3 min previews (you can see them on pod3tv account in youtube) and I updated iMovie to iMovie 8 (version 7.1 (506) along with all the iLife apps - a monster upgrade and also a firmware upgrade too.
Now when I import the .m4v movies, there is no audio track imported. Also, in places, video playback is breaking down in the viewer window. It looks like a poor and untested version and it's stopped my current project in its tracks.
So - has anyone else noticed this, what's the fix? I doubt a bug fix will come out for some time, if ever, so how do I roll back a release?

OK so I deleted 7.1 (506) and reinstalled from iLife DVD to version 7 (471) and everything's back to normal.
So the iMovie team have some pretty urgent bug fixing to do and I respectfully suggest they test it before releasing it.

This morning dreamweaver cs6 restarted as if it was just installed lost all sites

restarted this am as if i had just installed it, all the site definitions are gone and yes there are no recent backups
major pain, any idea of hour to get back my actual version?

Those are the same version. Macs just truncate the version number within the program itself, it's a known issue and doesn't affect how it runs.
Your sites are still on your hard drive, all you need to do is set up new definitions from the existing site folders to get them back.
Site > Manage Sites > New
When asked what you want to use for the local site root, browse to one of your existing site folders, add the FTP info and you should be good to go.
You aren't logged in under a different user account than the one you normally use, are you?

Just installed, lost all photos, no backup

So I just installed iLife '09 and was so excited. I opened up iPhoto and got the message "The photo library needs to be updated to work with the version of iPhoto" so I clicked the 'update' button. It starts to read the old data library then says "Your photo library is damaged or unreadable and cannot be opened. Please restore from a back up." I don't have a backup. Is there anyway I can get my pictures back?

PS - Now you know why it is critical that anytime you do a software install or upgrade that you have a backup prior to doing the install/upgrade - Things do happen and a backup is your only defense to "things happening"

Browser says not latest version of Firefox but just installed.

Every time I launch Firefox, the browser home page says I am not using the latest version, update now. I just updated with that horrid Yahoo toolbar. I want to get rid of that but I cannot get rid of it without getting rid of Firefox. Do I have to go back to using Internet Explorer?

in order to get rid of yahoo, please go to ''firefox > addons > extensions'' & remove the toolbar.
<br>also go to the windows control panel / programs and remove all toolbars or potentially unwanted yahoo software from there.

I just installed the latest iMovie 10.0.2. Please don't say "look at the help menu" - it doesn't help. This is radically different than the version I'd been using. For starters it automatically converts to mp4 rather than .mov - that's my 1st question

Sorry for the long headline - I'm new to the support community and thought that was the post! I've been happily using my old version of iMovie - I don't even know the number - I guess it was 11? I just installed the most recent 10.0.2 and it is radically different from what I've been using. For starters, whereas my uploaded video used to be in the lower section, and I would edit up above, now it's reversed. Whereas I used to click on the transitions and drag a blur or whatever to my movie right while I was editing, now it's on a different screen. And the easy old Export file button is gone, where you could choose setting, file size, export as Quicktime movie - all gone - now it converts to mp4 and I STILL can't figure out how to get it back to .mov

Select in browser your movie, click Export on toolbar, choose iTunes, QT etc. then choose size of your file in opening window. And then click Export in this window.

I just installed iLife on my new Imac version 10.8.2 and now I can't open my iPhoto app. It says that I Photo is damaged or incomplete. What do I do to restore my iPhoto and pictures!

I have installed iLife a few times and because of photostream, the version on the disc must be updated. Software update usually takes care of it. It sounds like you installed an old version over a new version. I've not tried that.
You have a late 2012 machine, if you open the Mac app store from the dock, you should be able to go to the purchased tab and download/install the right version of iphoto. Honestly, you should not have used that disc on this new of mac or at least only installed iDVD & iWeb but not garageband, iphoto, and iMovie.
If the Mac App Store shows iphoto as installed already, drag the app from your applications folder to the trash and reinstall it again from the Mac App Store. That is the version you need. You may find garageband and imovie have similar problems.

PS. your photos are in your photo folder in your home folder. don't touch those, I'm talking about the app "iphoto" in the applications folder.

What version of iTunes are you using? An .itl file is something that Windows uses, or very old versions of iTunes on Mac. The library file on Macs is now .xml and has been since late iTunes 4.
Is iTunes running ok without any problems after you OK that message? If it is, then you may be able to ignore it if you can't account for why you're getting it. But make sure you take backups in case something happens in the future.

I just installed the newest version of Firefox version30. It wont play videos on youtube but i figured out what to do to fix that (change to "never activate" on Shockwave Flash add-on in plugins).
But if i leave that setting on then the game that i try to play on Facebook tells me turn on flash and when i do i still get a blank screen on FB. What do i need to do?

Try to set the Flash plug to click-to-play by setting the permissions for Flash to "Ask To Activate" in "Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Plugins". That way you can activate the Flash plugin when you need it via the Lego block icon on the location bar.
Also, I don't even see Flash listed as installed on Firefox. Are you sure you have it installed? Try downloading it from the below site

What you've outlined in this part of the post is all that icloud stores for you outside of the backup. If you want to restore from the icloud backup you will then have for all practical purposes a carbon restoration back to your device if you restore from the icloud backup.

I was running the previous version of itunes and it worked perfectly. I just installed the latest version of itunes (version 11.1.4.62) and restarted the PC and now itunes doesn't recognize my iphone or my ipad. I'm running Windows 8.1 on my pc. I tried diagnostics to no avail. The diagnostic didn't recognize either device. As the directions advised, I closed itunes, disconnected the devices and stopped and restarted the apple mobile device service, That didn't work either. My wife, who also has Windows 8.1, has the same problem. She installed the new version and it doesn't recognize her devices.
Until now, itunes has been totally reliable. I am convinced the problem is with itunes. Where do I go from here?

I resolved the issue by doing the following:
1. Uninstall iTunes and every Apple application (device support and such).
2. Uninstall bonjour.
3. Reboot.
4. Go to Apple and install iTunes.
It worked. When I opened iTunes (after reinstalling) it recognized all my devices, music and video.
