IMovie 9.0.8 "date and time" Title is 5 hours off original footage.

Since iMovie doesn't import the original Date and Time that the footage was recorded, I have been using the "date and time" Title feature, which in prior versions has worked well. Since updating to ML and iMovie 9.0.8, the time is off by approximately 5 hours. I can usually correct this by adjusting the date and time in the frame but it's an extra step I'd rather avoid. Has anyone else experienced this glitch? Is there a fix?

do, what I wrote: re-launch your Mac while holding down the shift-key
this triggers the Safe-Mode, which is recommended by Apple as a maintanance-routine  (best done before any updatres) ....
I called it 'voodoo' as some joke ...

  • I am looking for a timer that shows elapsed time since a particular date and time.  Showing days, hours, minutes etc.

I would like to download an application for my desktop and maybe even my iphone that will tell me how many days, hours, minutes, etc have elapsed since a particular date.
For example, my brother just had a baby and I want to put that date and time into the app and then determine how long it has been since that date and time.
Hopefully this makes sense, because I have not been able to locate anything.
    Thanks in advance,

    This is fantastic.  Thank you.
Is there any way to have something like this displayed on my desktop showing the time as it ticks away?

  • Set date and time automatically keeping turning itself off?

Every time I go to the App Store I get a pop-up stating that it can't connect and that this may be caused by an incorrect date and time setting.  I go to Settings and discover that "Set Automatically" has somehow turned itself off.  I can turn it back on and then access the App Store.  Until the next time.  When the whole problem starts over.  Why won't it stay on Set Automatically?  Thanks.

Try this first. Reboot your iPad.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.
If that doesn't work, you can reset all settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset all Settings. That will turn all of the settings back to factory defaults and you will have to enter them again. You will not lose any data.
You can also try restoring from a backup - if you have a recent backup. The backup contains the device settings and that just might work. It worked for me when I was experiencing the very same problem that you are having.

  • Date and time embedded in DV movie: how to get it into iMovie?

    Hi,
I've been trying to find an answer to this question using Google, but was not succesful, so here goes.
I am a fairly new Mac user (yup, I moved over from The Dark Side, at least when at home). Last year, I made a family movie using Ulead VideoStudio. For my workflow, I depended heavily on the date & time stamps that are embedded in the DV movies captured into Ulead from my Sony Handycam.
Now, with iMovie, in the imports that I moved over from my Windows machine all get the date and timestamp from the files.
Is there a way to get the embedded date & timestamps from the DV movies? If iMovie can't do it, can Final Cut Express?
    Best regards,
    Donald.

    Hi,
After some heavy Googling and fiddling, I've solved my problem:
    - Downloaded and ran DVdate (http://paul.glagla.free.fr/dvdate_en.htm) on my Windows PC to rename files based on the timecode in the DV .avi files. (I used filename template "clip-yyyy-mm-dd+hh;mm;ss.avi" where yyyy-mm-dd is the year/month/date and hh:mm:ss is the time retreived from the actual DV timestamp).
    - Moved the files over to my iMac using an external USB drive
    - Used Automator to rename the files on the iMac (DVdate does not support a space character in filenames) to the format "clip-yyyy-mm-dd<space>hh;mm;ss.avi".
    - Now iMovie uses the real date and time of the recording of the movies, instead of the date/time from the files themselves.
It took some time, but now I'm a happy camper
    Best regards,
    Donald.

  • My AppleTV cannot set date and time. I've reset it, but after 3 hours, it is still trying

My AppleTV used to work fine. Someone messed with my Time Capsule, so I had to have it worked on. Since it was messed up, the AppleTV can't function. I reset it and updated everything. It said "Activating" and "setting date and time". After 3 hours, it is still trying to set the date and time. Now what do I do? Thanks for any help.

As I previously wrote in a former post:
I will first assume you are still setting up your new Apple TV. Is this is the case, use a website like canyouseeme.com to check if port 123 is open. If it is not, this is your issue of your Apple TV not being able to connect to the timeserver. Try contacting your Internet Service Provider for help with opening this port.
Otherwise, try hard resetting your Apple TV by disconnecting all power for 30 seconds. If the problem still persists, you may try hard resetting your router by also unplugging all power for 30 seconds.
Hope this worked out well for you. If you are having further troubles you can always connect it to iTunes using a micro-usb and restore it. Lastly, the Genius Bar will be more than happy to fix the problem for you if you'd like to make a reservation for your local Apple Store.

  • C6-00 forgets date and time every time it is turne...

A new annoyance has arisen with my C6.
A few weeks ago, just as I left on a 3-week trip across different timezones and countries, the phone starts forgetting the date and time everytime it is turned off. And I needed to turn it off when boarding planes!
What a pain in the backside when it stupidly asks for the date and time everytime it is turned on!
This problem was not there before. And then one day it started occuring. No changes the software.
Recently I updated the firmware to the latest one. No difference.
I turned on the Update Time Automatically setitng but that seem to do absolutely nothing. And everytime I changed timezones this setting is forcibly turned off anyway. The problem started occuring before I started moving between timezones.
Any suggestions? This post on a similar problem with the N95 [/t5/Nseries-and-S60-Smartphones/N95-8GB-forgets-date-and-time-every-time-it-is-turned-off/m-p/536562...] seem to say - live with it or bring it back to Nokia.
Dear Nokia - re you seriously telling me this so-called smartphone cannot actually keep time?!!! That would be an unacceptable situation. Nonetheless, I look forward to a potential fix. Maybe it would be as simple as setting some soft swith in some hidden settings mode...
    Thanks!!!

This is usually a symptom of a faulty auxilliary battery. It used to be quite common with the older phones. If it keeps happening it may be worth your while getting it replaced under warranty. The auxilliary in a small battery inside the phone and can only be replaced by a Nokia Care POint.

  • How do I Show date and time when I hover over clip like in iMovie

How do I get FCPX 10.6 to show date and time when I hover over a clip? I can so it in I movie and as I move over my clips the date/time is shown. I need it for that specific point in the clip not just the record start time.

I realize that my needs are outside of the normal editing workflow. I am a private investigator and last week I shot over 6 hours of surveillance video on a Sony video camera. Within this 6 hours of video there is at most 2 minutes of actual footage of my subject. So what I wanted to do was just import the parts of the clip I want, so I can avoid importing the whole 6 hours, and then add a text title of some sort that shows the date/time. My problem is that once I get this clip I have easy way of establising the TOD short of taking the clip capture time and then counting up using the SMTPE Timecode. In this regard iMovie makes it easier because I can just hover over the clip and see the TOD of that specific frame. iMovie on the other hand would force me to import the whole 6 hour video so i'm left moving between both programs which is less than ideal.

  • How do i show date and time info of videos in Iphone as they appeare before import in iPhoto?

How do i show date and time info of videos in Iphone as they appeare before import in iPhoto? or even as they appear on the iPhone itself? The selection on tool bar for show info is greyed out.

Welcome T G Brown to the  iMovie boards..
the socalled timestamp is within the imports.. if you select a clip in iM and hit the key combo Apple-I, you can see recording time and date.
unfortunately, this info isn't delivered to any software. Bruce Gee (geethree.com, excellent plug-in maker) told us, there's no 'API' he could use for such a feature...
same on the pro side, read this discussion at the FinalCutExpress boards:
    http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=7982935
Forum member Ian offers a solution with a 3rd party app ....
so: pen&pencil and typing timestamp manually into any 'Title' seems to be your only option...

  • Can we display date and time in a movie

I am filming a production process and would love to be able to display time of day as the video is playing.
I can see this info while editing, but I don't know if iMovie'11 will let me display this info onto the movie itself? I need to pass these clips to someone who doesn't have any editing tools, but they will be interested to review the events on the tape relative to the time of day that they occurred.
It would be cool if iMovie had a title effect that 1) displays time and date info, 2) let's the user edit the format of the displayed date and time, and finally, 3) lets the user move this title information to a location in the tape that won't obstruct the critical elements of the movie.

    Thanks Appleman 1958!
This helps, but to your point, it doesn't show seconds, and it doesn't show frames (for the video purists out there).
Limited to no more detail than minute data, it is not too useful for me, but I could see this being fun in a fast motion shot.
Also nice for capturing day and time of day information for a vacation video.
For my application, all activity took place in 5 hours, and I would need to see down to the second (and ideally the frame) when specific actions took place.
It would be awesome if Apple would let us
    1) edit displayed information (lets say for example turn off date, but show hours minutes seconds and frames)
    2) edit the font & font size
    3) allow flexible placement of the information window. The default location may be where major action is.
Again, thanks for pointing out this title!

  • DVD camcorder (VIDEO_TS) - preserve clip date and time

I had asked this question on the forums a long time ago but iMovie did not seem to be supporting it reliably at the time. But since some time has passed, I wanted to check if iMovie '09 can import clips from a mini DVD (those used in camcorders to capture video directly on to DVD media) AND preserve the clip's date and time.
What I see is that the first clip gets some date and time related to the event's date and time (perhaps the start time of the first clip?) but all the other clips which are imported, get timestamps of 1 second after that first clip's timestamp.
These are all my home videos and in order to keep each clip short, I have had the habit of pausing after about a minute or two, resulting in MANY clips over MANY DVD's, so manually updating date and time is absolutely the last resort.
The DVD player can see the clip date and time correctly, and so could the camcorder (I have since sold the darn thing!) so I know that information exists somewhere in the DVD, but it seems like iMovie is unable to "see" it.
Any help would be appreciated, including programmability hints.

Thank you for your post.  I figured out why iMovie was assigning today's date to everything that I imported.  It turns out that many of my video files did not have a real "created" date--some had no date at all and some had Wednesday, December, 1967 or 9 (I think).  iMovie defaulted today's date in both of these situations.  I took your advice and ot A Better Finder Attribute and easily converted all of the files using the option to copy the "modified date" into the "created date" attribute.  Now everything imports correctly into iMovie.

  • How can I get rid of the dates and time on my Notes

How do I get rid of the dates and times on my Notes that appeared when I updated to 8?

Yes, it's seems like a poor design decision.
By putting the date on the line below the Note title in the Notes Index, the app shows half the number of notes per page AND if you have a large number of notes, it takes twice as long to stroll down.
I doubt the designer actually uses the app.

  • How can I display the date and time from the playhead info as a subtitle ?

Is there any way it is possible to display the video capture data and time during playback. I have seen some discussion on creating subtitles to do this, it would be nice if one could simply add a Title template with display fields for playhead information so that it automatically gets created during rendering.
In case you are wondering why on earth anyone would want this, I would like to use this for display on multisport racing videos.
    Thanks
