Imovie 9 Can't change volume in voiceover clips.

I can't change the volume in voiceover clips.  I have tried to re-record with new microphone, including internal.  Also, have re-recorded with noise reduction changed at different levels and uncheck voice enhancement.  Nothing works.  Please help!

Have you tried selecting the Voiceover clip so the yellow border is around it. Then hit the small gear icon at the front of the voiceover to open the inspector. Go to the audio tab of the inspector, and move the volume slider.
If that does not work, check to see if you have ducking applied to some other clip.

  • Can't change volume

Hi people, I've got an issue with track volume.
I can't change track volume because when I play the track it restores to the original value.
There are no automation on the track.
    Thanks a lot.

  • Can't change volume on keyboard

    hi!
i just recently updated my ibook's software (10 dec. 2007) and after restarting, i found that i couldn't use the f4 and f5 buttons to change the volume. i tried going to system preferences but there was nothing there. the only way to change the volume is for me to manually click on the volume button in the menu bar or open up system preferences.
is there some way to change whatever setting it may be on so that i can control the volume using the keyboard?
the sound works fine. it's just the volume thing that bothers me.
to whoever who may reply, thank you!

try holding down the function key, and then pressing the volume buttons. if that is the problem than you can change the default in system preferences->keyboard and mouse. uncheck the box that says us f1, f2, ... as standard function keys.

  • Can't adjust volume of audio clips

For some reason sliding the audio volume on the clip does absolutely nothing to the volume when I play it back!
    Please tell me what's wrong.

Is the audio contained within the clip, that is, is it the audio initially recorded with the video? Or is the audio an added soundtrack (music or voiceover)? If it is the added soundtrack, you need to click on the small gear icon on the green or purple track that sits under the thumbnails - not on the clip thumbnails themselves - then select "Audio Adjustments" from the pop-up menu. The Inspector will open, allowing you to make the appropriate adjustments to the volume etc.
If you have dragged a music soundtrack into the background of your project, so that the whole background is coloured green, click on the small gear icon located in the upper left corner, select "Audio Adjustments" and continue from there, as above.
Likewise, if you wish to adjust the volume on the actual video clips, select the clips and click on the gear icon on one of them and follow the steps above. To select a range of clips, if the clips are adjoining click on the first clip then Shift-click on the last. If not adjoining, click on the first then Command-click on each of the others in the range.
Hope I'm not misunderstanding what you may have already tried!

    PLEASE HELP.
    THANKS

    HI,
    That's interesting.
Try this... go to ~/Library/Preferences and locate this file.
    com.apple.soundpref.plist
Move that file to the Trash and restart your Mac.
    If that doesn't help,
    Try deleting these files.
    com.apple.audio.DeviceSettings.plist
    com..apple.audio.SystemSettings.plist
    MacintoshHD/Library/Preferences/Audio.
Move those files to the Trash. Restart your Mac.

  • How can I change the arrangement of clips in an event?

    Hello all,
I would like to have the window of clips for my events to be oldest to newest and not newest first. I see where I can arrange the selection of Event either by newest first or last, but I see nowhere that I can do this for clips in an event.
I would really like to start at oldest first and not have to scroll down to the bottom and work up from there.
       Any ideas?
    Thanks,

What version of movie are you on? I see you are on a PowerBook G4.
Most versions of iMovie show Event clips in chronological order, as you shot them on the camera.

  • Can I change timecode on my clips?

I just got transcripts from 40 hours of footage and the dvds that the transcriber was using seem to have different time codes than that on my tapes. The tapes don't start at 00:00:00- the just run on and on, starting at all different points. If I could re-code the clips to start at 00 I would have an easier time of it...
    Thanks

    Modifying Timecode in Media Files
In Final Cut Pro, you can modify media file timecode in several ways:
•Individual clips can be adjusted by choosing Modify > Timecode.
•Multiple clips can be adjusted in the Browser timecode columns (such as Media Start and Media End).
In general, choosing Modify > Timecode provides deeper control over your timecode modifications, but the Browser allows you to modify multiple clips at once.
    Using the Modify Timecode Command
Timecode tracks in your media files can be added, altered, and even removed in the Modify Timecode dialog.
Each media file can have up to three timecode tracks and corresponding reel names:
•Source timecode track and reel name
•Aux 1 timecode and Aux 1 reel name
•Aux 2 timecode and Aux 2 reel name
When you select a checkbox next to a timecode track, you are adding that timecode track to your media file. Deselecting the checkbox deletes that timecode track from the media file.
Important: Be careful not to delete the source timecode track of your media file by deselecting its checkbox.
To modify the timecode of a clip’s media file:
1 In the Browser, select the clip or sequence with the timecode you want to change.
    2 Choose Modify > Timecode.
3 Verify that the settings are correct:
•Frame to Set: Choose the frame you want to alter.
•Current: Choose this to alter the timecode of the current frame in the clip or sequence.
Starting: Choose this to change the timecode of the starting frame of the clip or sequence.
•Source TC: Select this checkbox to add or alter the timecode of the source clip or sequence’s media file on disk.
•Aux TC 1 and Aux TC 2: Select these checkboxes to create or change the properties of auxiliary timecode clips or sequences.
•Reel/Roll: The reel number is displayed here. If you need to change the reel number, enter the reel number here.
•Timecode: The current timecode is displayed here. If you choose to modify the timecode, enter the new timecode here.
•Format: Choose Drop Frame or Non-Drop Frame from the pop-up menu.
•Rate: Choose a timecode rate from the pop-up menu.
4 Enter the new timecode in the Timecode field.
5 Click OK to permanently change the timecode.
Modifying Timecode in the Browser or Item Properties
Most timecode settings can be modified in the Browser or the Item Properties window, but some fields are restricted to prevent accidental changes to many media files at once. When you modify particular Browser columns, Final Cut Pro warns you that the media file, not just the clip, will be affected.
The TC Rate item property (visible in both the Browser columns and the Item Properties window), always shows the rate of the source timecode track of a clip’s media file. The Aux 1 or Aux 2 timecode rates are never shown here. Use the TC Rate column in the Browser to adjust the timecode rate for many clips at once. Some timecode rates are not allowed for some video frame rates.
Note: The TC Rate property is the rate of the source timecode track in a media file. The Vid Rate property is the rate of the video track in a media file. In many instances, these are the same, but not always. For example, an NTSC media file has a video rate of 29.97 fps, but a timecode rate of 30 fps.

  • How do you change volume permissions with Solaris Volume Manager?

(Previously posted in "Talk to the Sysop" - no replies)
I'm trying to set up Solaris 9 to run Oracle on raw partitions. I have my design nailed down and I have built all the raw partitions I need as soft partitions on top of RAID 1 volumes. All this is built using Solaris Volume Manager (SVM).
However, all the partitions are still owned by root. Before I can create my Oracle database, I need to change the owner of the Oracle partitions to oracle:oinstall. The only reference I found telling me how to do this was in a Sun Blueprint and it essentially said "You can't change volume permissions directly or permanently using SVM and chown will only remain effective until the next reboot. To make the changes permanent, you must modify /etc/minor_perm". Unfortunately, I can't find an example of how to do this anywhere and the online man pages are not particularly helpful (at least not to me).
I'd appreciate a quick pointer, either to a good online resource or, even better, a simple example. For background, the volumes Oracle needs to own are:
    /dev/md/rdsk/d101-109
    /dev/md/rdsk/d201-203
    /dev/md/rdsk/d301-303
    /dev/md/rdsk/d401-403
    /dev/md/rdsk/d501-505
I provide this information because I'd like to assign some, but not all, of the devices under /dev/md/rdsk to the oracle user and I was hoping some smart person out there could illustrate an approach using simle regular expressions, at which I'm horribly poor.
    Thanks in advance,
    Adrian

Ron, I feel your pain.  I just came from an HTC also and a lot of stuff with this iPhone is bugging the crap out of me.  Who makes a phone where you can't adjust the ringer and alert volumes independently?  Instead, I have to adjust the alert volume when it is active.  C'mon guys.  Get with the program.  You won a bunch of Android users over with the 4S, but you're going to chase us all back when we're done with our contract.  Frustrating.

  • Networker how to change volume mode to appendable by command line

I would like to ask how can i change volume mode to appendabel for networker ebs through command line, eg . nsrjb -o nofull -S 2,

It looks like changes to the audio settings alters the com.apple.audio.SystemSettings.plist file.
You can see the difference here:

I might be able to use "defaults write" to make the change.

  • Change duration of multiple clips "as one" overall clip?

    Here's my situation:
I have a song at 127 BPM. I have a music video (muted sound) at 125 BPM.
I've spent a long time slicing up clips from the video into different channels and muliple clips to form one timeline (but with many clips and channels lined up).
I now want to change the overall duration of the video clip to match the BPM of the song (which I should have done in the first place), but the video is, as previously stated, sliced up in mulitple clips in multiple channels. How can I change the duration of all clips at one time, where the end and start of the clips still line up to eachother?
This would've been incredibly easy if there were a un-nesting feature. Where I can nest multiple clips, change the duration, and un-nest the clips to slices clips with a changed overall duration. (Which is not possible. Yes, I can drag the clips out of the nested clip, but the clips will still have the original duration).
TL;DR: How can I change duration of multiple clips "as one" overall clip?

Never mind. I've found a alternate solution. I used a time stretch calculator at http://mp3.deepsound.net/eng/samples_calculs.php and time stretched all the clips to match the BPM of the song. Now I only need to snap all the clips, which can be done one by one, but I found this trick to snap all the clips at once: http://vimeo.com/27428526.
I'll just let this thread stay open so other with the same problem can find this

  • Adjusting volume on multiple clips

How can I adjust volume on multiple clips at the same time in FCP?

Highlight all the clips you want to adjust, then press Apple "+" or Apple "-" to raise and lower the levels in increments of 1, and Apple "[" and Apple "]" to raise and lower the levels in increments of 3.
One of my favorite keyboard commands.

  • How can I change the frame rate of a project in imovie 10?

My problem is: I made a gopro movie with a frame rate of 50 fps. I imported it to imovie. So far so good.
Scrubbing over the clip i found one single frame which looked amazing. So I draged some seconds of that clip into the timeline (the project if you will).
The goal was to make a freeze frame out of this "spezial" frame.
Unfortunately I could not find this frame in the timeline any more - it's gone.
I think imovie dropped half of the frames to fit the clip into the projekt, which I assume is using 24-25fps.
The only solution I found is to decrease the speed of the clip to let's say 50%.
But is there a better way?
Can I change the frame rate of the projekt somehow? I think it was possible in imovie 11.
    many thanks
    Rainer
    (from austria)

iMovie 10 won't share at 50 fps and so for 25 fps output probably drops every other frame.  This is different from Imovie 9 which could handle 50 fps.  However, if you do 50% speed it will use all the available frames so that is indeed the way to find the frame you want.  After you have made a freeze frame I think you can switch the clip back to normal speed.  I am not aware of a better way in iMovie 10  By the way there is also no facility to export a still of a frame in iMovie.
As a GoPro user I think FCP 10.1 would be the best choice.
    Geoff.
