IMovie  and ipad storage support

I have an ipad 2 and made a movie project of pictures and it will not save because it says storage is full. How do I free of storage on my ipad2?

you simply have to delete stuff.  Apps, and more importntly, the data tied to the apps.  Sound and video take a lot of space.
If you have decent back up habits, you can get it all back when you need to.  Look in settings, general, usage, and if you wait a while, all the apps will appear.  Touch one and it will show you how mucg data is associated with the app.  You can delete from there if you want.
you can send some things to the cloud - i cloud or drop box, then delete from the pad.
but you are stuck until you clean off some stuff.

  • Importing to iMovie and video formats supported

I'm new to iMovie, and I'm still running '08, and I don't know what video formats are supported. I ripped a home video DVD using HandBrake and found out that iMovie 08 doesn't support .m4v. I tried saving it as a Quicktime Movie file with Quicktime Pro, but iMovie still wouldn't import. Can anyone tell what I can do because I really want to edit my video and burn it on more discs for the rest of my family. So, any help on what formats are supported and what I can do to import my video to iMovie is what I would like help with, please. Thanks for any help.

Check out the iMovie 08 discussion group. You will find a lot of knowledgeable people there.
iMovie will import h.264 (m4v), but it will not import extra tracks such as closed caption tracks, tween tracks, chapter tracks, etc. Make sure handbrake is including these.
You can go into QuickTime Pro and remove extra tracks.
Sometimes, people have reported that simply renaming your m4v file as an .mov file will make it importable. Not sure if this will work in your case.

  • PDF and iPad sync support cancelled?

Has Apple discontinued support for syncing PDF's from iTunes on a desktop or laptop into iBooks in an iPad? I noticed that this was a long-standing issue, and I'm assuming it might be intentional by Apple or they would have likely fixed this already.
My PDF's do appear in my iPad books section of my desktop iTunes when synced with my iPad, but as the PDF's are nowhere to be found on my actual iPad, wouldn't it be better for Apple to stop showing that they are there (when they're clearly not)? I mean just kill it and be done with it...like Adobe Flash.
I'm using the latest iPad with all software up to date on both my iPad and Mac Pro.

Grrrr....thanks K_P ... please ignore my insert under my original post...hit the wrong button in my email.
Yes, they are there under Collections. I'm new to the iPad and assumed the PDF's would show up in on the iPad as they appear in iTunes on my Mac Pro; specifically, next to my books. Dumb *** iPad newbie here. Thanks for your response.
You, too, Ralph. Thanks for confirming (that I'm a dumb-assed newbie ).
    Cheers

  • Imovie and Ipad 1???

Why is Imovie not compatible with the Ipad 1? After buying every accesory posible, like the Camera Connection Kit, why can't I import videos to edit them with the Ipad 1. I think this is unfair. Six months after I buy my Ipad 1 Apple launches the Ipad 2 and they forget about the Ipad 1. It is a great piece of equipment and everything is easier there. Please make the adjustments for compatibility with the Ipad 1. I would like to use Imovie in conjuction with the Camera Connection Kit and a Kodak Playsport Camcorder which records in .MOV. This will be a great success.

  • I have imovie on ipad and cannot delete videos.

I have read support on how to delete a video from the ipad in imovie and there is supposed to be an edit button in the upper left corner but it does not exist.
I also have some 12 Gig of memory used up but 'usage' in settings does show where this massive amount of data is, it only shows about 4Gig of usage.

    Kiwiphone,
    Thanks for your help.
You are correct about the location of the file.  I had looked for the Photos app in the main app page but completely neglected to look at the permanent apps on the bar on the bottom of the iPad, and there is was.
"Photos" seems to be an odd place for a movie to be automatically stored but now that I know......
So I went to the Apple store Genius bar to find out where the mysterious files were chewing up my hard drive (analogous to "dark matter" in space :-).  The person that was helping me was able to see how big this missing space was by connecting to his Mac via iTunes. There is the file usage bar in iTunes where you can see what is using your memory space.  It uses colors to show how much is consumed with music, video etc.  The yellow color was indicating a huge amount of 'other' files and the tech was surprised by how much I had consumed in 'other'.  Note!  The Usage application in the iPad settings IS NOT capable of seeing these other files.  The tech said these files were in iPad "limbo".
He said I could recover this space by restoring the iPad (after first syncing it with my Mac at home).  I connected to my Mac to sync (had not done that for weeks) and just the act of syncing freed up several gigabytes of storage.  I might have freed up some more by restoring but I was a little concerned about restoring losing something (should I be or should I go for it?).

What content are you wanting to copy of the iPad ? You should be able to copy off anything that you've purchased from Apple (films, music, ibooks, apps etc) by connecting the iPad to your computer's iTunes and doing File > Transfer Purchases. If you want to copy off music copied from your own CDs or purchased from other sites then you will need to find a program for your computer that can copy them off – iTunes won't copy them off.
For photos taken with the iPad, copied to it via the camera connection kit or saved from emails/websites then you should be able to copy them off via the Windows camera wizard.
For photos that were originally synced from a computer you will need a third-party app such as Simple Transfer which can copy them off via your wifi network. But as photos are 'optimised' when they are synced to the iPad, any that you then copy back to a computer may not be exactly the same as they originally were on your computer.
Content in third-party apps (documents and files etc) then how you copy that content off will depend upon what the apps that they are in support e.g.either via the file sharing section at the bottom of the device's apps tab when connected to iTunes, via wifi, email, dropbox etc.

First, you need to send the project to iTunes:

  • Share iMovie project between iMac and iPad?

Is it possible to share and continue a iMovie project between a iMac and iPad?
Or the share is only possible between iOS devices?

In general the simplest way would be to store the document in iCloud, and use iCloud to access the document from both your iMac and iPad.
But your post above says you're running Snow Leopard (OS X 10.6.4).  Snow Leopard is now two years old.  I'm not sure it supports iCloud.

I have the IPhone, IPad and MacBook, IPad and IPhone share the same Apple ID and Icloud storage. Cannot make ID Change on MacBook as it says the ID is already taken. How can I make all three match?

The problem is that all services are bundled with your Apple ID ([email protected]):
Your iCloud account (Mail, Contacts, Calendars, Reminders, Notes, Backups, etc.),
also iTunes & App Store purchases (Music, Movies, TV Shows, etc.),
    and the iTunes Match services.
(I guess that all your devices - yours and your wife's are connected to one iTunes library, right?)
If you want that your wife gets her own iCloud account for Mail, Contacts, Calendars, etc. but gets also access to your media then you have two set up two things on her device:
iCloud (Settings > iCloud) with her account (e.g. [email protected])
    and
iTunes & App Stores (Settings > iTunes & App Stores) with your account (e.g. [email protected]).
In this case she gets access to your library and could use the same iTunes Match account.

  • IMovie on iPad and Mac

Does anyone have any idea about what movie file types will be supported in iMovie for iPad 2? Even a guess based on iMovie for the Mac may be helpful.

    chefsboy wrote:
If a file format is supported on the iPad itself will iMovie be able to use it?
    Yes
Here are the video specs that the iPad supports from Carolyn link:
Video formats supported: H.264 video up to 720p, 30 frames per second, Main Profile level 3.1 with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats; MPEG-4 video, up to 2.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per second, Simple Profile with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps per channel, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats; Motion JPEG (M-JPEG) up to 35 Mbps, 1280 by 720 pixels, 30 frames per second, audio in ulaw, PCM stereo audio in .avi file format
If you have a camcorder and want to import those videos into the iPad. You need to convert to the above specs.

  • Imovie for ipad taking storage

    Hi,
My imovie app is showing 4GB of storage used on my ipad 2, i have no projects in imovie and wanted to know if this is right or of a way i could clear some of the storage.
    Many thanks

Have you had a look in iTunes, in your iPad Apps tab, File Sharing?
Look in iMovie and see if there are any Projects hiding in there.
The other option is to uninstall and reinstall.
You can re-download for free from the App Store.
Sounds like you have some clips hanging on.
