IMovie cannot access library without location services - Why?

So this is the error message I get when trying to use iMovie for iPhone - "iMovie cannot access your photos or videos" "To enable access, open the settings app, tap General, then tap Location Services and then set the iMovie switch to 'On'." (pic - http://twitpic.com/2269ze ).The question is "Why?" What if I don't want my videos to include geo location data? Why does iMovie need location services to start a project? It doest make any sense to me. I understand that some of the themes may have features for using location data, but shouldn't that be at the users discretion?

I find this rather odd as well. I keep location services turned off for the camera so why iMovie would need to access data that isn't there is beyond me. I think it's just poor programing on Apple's part. It would be just as easy to ignore any location data if you have that turned off and you happen to pick a picture or video that has it embedded.

  • Since I put my music on the cloud, I cannot access it without downloading each song individually. I thought I was going to be able to stream from the cloud without downloading.

Since I put my music on the cloud, I cannot access it without downloading each song individually. I thought I was going to be able to stream from the cloud without downloading. Each download takes over a minute and I have 2000 songs! How can I just listen to my music again without downloading each and every song??? BTW, I purchased the iPhone 5S hoping that this issue would be solved with more memory - it's not. At this point I just want to remove the whole cloud-thing from my phone and go back to only having the songs on one device, no download required except the original iTunes purchase. How do I do this???

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
It sounds as though you misunderstood the purpose of iTunes Match. You still need to have the content on the device to play it.
However it's effectively no different than before in that you keep your most played content on your phone but are able to download stuff you rarely play should you ever wish to.
There's no value whatsoever in iTunes Match unless your library doesn't fit on your phone.

  • Iphone cannot be found because Location Services disabled

iphone cannot be found because Location Services disabled.  Why does this message appear when using the "Find iphone App"

do you have location services disabled? settings>privacy.  Also, the answer is because the phone does not know where it is when location services is turned off so "find my iPhone can't locate it.

  • I cannot access my exact location on the maps.

I Have registered in a social media app where it needs to access my exact location. I have tried downloading other map app like google maps but still it cannot determine my location. i tried using other Ipad and they can access thier location And we are using same Router of internet provider. I need a bigtime help. Thanks.

If you have the WiFi-only iPad (which does not have GPS) your location is determined by the mapped location of nearby WiFi routers. A WiFi+Cellular iPad or an iPhone have GPS and can locate themselves.
Without GPS iPad location-finding is done by using a Apple location database which contains the MAC addresses of routers and their physical location. A MAC address is a unique number which is built-in to all network devices when manufactured. No two routers have the same MAC address.
The Apple database is built and updated by Apple GPS-enabled devices (primarily iPhones) actually seeing routers and then adding/updating the router's locations into the database. There is no manual way to request an update to the Apple location database.
Note, to be used for location determination, a device does not need to actually be connected to a router, it just has to see the router and its MAC address. More precise location determination can be done if several nearby routers can be seen.
When a router is moved from one location to another erroneous locations can sometimes be reported until the router's location is corrected in Apple's database. If a router's location has not been added to Apple's database the iPad will not be able to locate its position.

  • WCS 4.0 Client Statistics without Location Services

    Hello,
when I watch a client in the WCS 4.0.96(base only version) the section named "client statistics" only prints "Location Server did not return any statistics information for this client."
Does that mean, that I need a location version to get infos like how much traffic a client generated? That would be hard to believe... :-/
    greetings, p.k.

We do not have location services. We only have a Base version license for WCS.
But I see no reason why location services are required for such simple statistics how much traffic a user created.
    p.k.

  • When I tried to log into to itunes today, I got a message that states "cannot access library because it was saved in a newer version." I cannot figure out how to access itunes or restore it.

I tried opening itunes today and got the message that I cannot access itunes because it was saved in a newer version.I have been using itunes for 10 years and never gotten this. I cannot restore an earlier version...any suggestions?

Unless you've recently attempted to downgrade iTunes this is probably a sign of a corrupt library file. See Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash.

  • TS2972 AppleTV cannot access library

After following the Apple Support kbase article, I still cannot see my music on my AppleTV.  I have upgraded to Lion on my iMac, moved my music to my internal hard drive, reset the Airport Extreme and restarted my AppleTV.  My Firewall is off, my iTunes software is updated and restarted. Nothing changes.  My AppleTV cannot access my iTunes library.

No, I am just getting a blank itunes library,
Is your PC a Sony Vaio by any chance?
If so, I'd check on the following document:
[iTunes creates an empty library file in Windows|http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2715]

  • Cannot access library folder

I saved a file accidently in my outlook temporary file.  I cannot access my library file, get:
The folder “Library” can’t be opened because you don’t have permission to see its contents.

I didn't know that iTunes had a 64bit download. I have Windows 7 Home Premium with 64bit operation system. I downloaded the iTunes for 64bit and it seems to have corrected the problem. I haven't received the message yet since I did this.

  • Stolen itouch! how do i find it without location services?

My itouch ws stolen this morning, and im wondering how to find it. I havent got the location services tuned on, and im not sure if the find my iphone app was enabled. Do i still have a chance on finding it?
    Thanks so much in advance!

Sorry, no. The only way to locate any lost/stolen iPod Touch or iPhone is by using Find My Phone. However, this requires that Find My Phone be turned on, on your Touch. If not, then there's no way to locate it now.
Change your passwords & report the loss to the Police, & your Insurance company.

  • I cannot turn on my location service

My location service bottom shows "on", but the main screen is a hazy white color and won't allow me to turn off location services for my iPad or apps. I've been to hot spots and other known locations, but still no luck. What are my options?

Ok, found it on another post....thanks!

Try starting iTunes while holding down the shift key. Then try to load the iTunes library which contains the information about your old media files.

  • ITunes app ONLY opens to Store, cannot access library

When I click on the iTunes application, it opens ONLY to the iTunes Store. For some reason, I cannot find the Library. Can anyone help??

Thanks- I bought a refurb that didnt come with a manual. Maybe I am missing something, but the manual suggests that the option for playlists/ songs/ artists automatically comes up.
The only way I can access my songs is by flicking left and searching for the name of the song/ artist, etc. There has to be an easier way. Am I missing something???
BTW thanks for the quick repsonse

  • New computer, cannot access library

I am sure I cannot be the only one in this situation...however Apple did a nice job letting everyone know how to transfer your library from one computer to another IF you have access to your old computer. Well, my PC crashed. Does NOT work...period. Purchased a new PC and whenever I plug my iPod in I am told it is synced to another library.
What can I do. I absolutely cannot...well...do not want to erase everything and start fresh with my hundreds of songs and podcasts.
