IMovie clip (overlay) muted but sound still plays

I have a clip in iMovie. It is an overlay. I muted it, but I can still hear the sound in the editor and once exported. It shows as muted, and I even tried detaching and deleting the audio, but it didn't work (in fact it even let me keep detaching and deleting it over again).
I would really appreciate some help :)

I had this problem for a video I did last year, and have not found a workable solution. Then I got the same problem on THIS year's 1.5 hour video I had just finished! Grrrr.
However scrolling through the iMovie Movie Cache folders for all the clips in my movie, and deleteing the cache.plist files, has restored my latest movie and it even published without the dreaded -108 "Could not prepare project" error! Happy day!
So now to try this for my old video and see if I can regenerate it with all the video clips intact.

  • I muted the sound while playing angry birds and now I can't get the sound back. I have the sound on ipod, just not with the games.

    I muted the sound while playing angry birds and now I can't get the sound back. I'm fine with ipod, just the games

    If you lose sounds for keyboard clicks, games or other apps, email notifications and other notifications, system sounds have been muted.
    System sounds can be muted and controlled two different ways. The screen lock rotation can be controlled in the same manner as well.
    Settings>General>Use Side Switch to: Mute System sounds. If this option is selected, the switch on the side of the iPad above the volume rocker will mute system sounds.
    If you choose Lock Screen Rotation, then the switch locks the screen. If the screen is locked, you will see a lock icon in the upper right corner next to the battery indicator gauge.
    If you have the side switch set to lock screen rotation then the system sound control is in the task bar. Double tap the home button and in the task bar at the bottom, swipe all the way to the right. The speaker icon is all the way to the left. Tap on it and system sounds will return.
    If you have the side switch set to mute system sounds, then the screen lock rotation can be accessed via the task bar in the same manner as described above.
    This support article from Apple explains how the side switch works.

  • IMovies clips transfered to IWeb aren't playing on PC's.

    I moved a few IMovies clips to IWeb. After publishing to IWeb everything looks and plays good on my computer. Friends computers are just showing blank squares where the movie should be. On my home movies, I used ITune songs for background music. Would this effect and or block others from seeing my home movie clips. If so, how can I post my home movies clips from IMovie for friends and family to see on IWeb. If I use my own CD's, the music needs to be downloaded to ITunes, before I can transfer the music to IMovie. It's so easy to move a "You Tube" clip to my IWeb page for viewing. I can't understand why it's so difficult to view a IMovie clip on my IWeb page. I think it might have something to do with this five computer authorization for ITune songs. If this is the case, then using my own CD should solve the problem. But again my own CD music must be downloaded to ITunes first, before I can move it to IMovie.
    Thanks
    Jim

    When you buy music from iTunes you are paying for the right to play it.
    When you put this music on a website, you are distributing it. To do this you have to be the copyright holder or pay a license fee.
    The new m4p file extension is copyright protected under the Digital Rights Management scheme (DRM).
    I don't know what happens when you try to use an m4p file as the sound track for a movie.
    I do know, that if you put it on a website as a music file, and somebody else tries to play it they will be encouraged to pay for it via iTunes. To be able to to pay and play, they will need to have the latest versions of iTunes and QuickTime player installed on their computer.
    Music on a commercially distributed CD is also copyrighted - as you will see from the label and packaging. Its relatively easy to rip this and convert it to other formats but that still doesn't give you the right to distribute it.
    All this is nothing new to low budget film makers. That's why there is a huge amount of music available for that purpose if you look in the right place. Try Googling "royalty free music".

  • I removeChild but audio still plays

    I have as3 script that loads an external swf which contains flv video:
    var eventInitialLoader:Loader = new Loader();
    var eventInitialURL:String = parent['eventPath'+ie];
    var eventInitialRequest:URLRequest = new URLRequest(eventInitialURL);
    eventInitialLoader.load(eventInitialRequest);
    eventOdd.addChild(eventInitialLoader);
    ...And some script later on that removes it:
    eventOdd.removeChild(eventInitialLoader);
    The movie clip is removed but the audio continues to play. Why is this? What can I do to make sure the audio is removed also?
    Thank You!

    Hey BrianatArean I have the same problem . Were you using the Video class? I user this code to kill everything but the audio still plays:
    public function stopIt()
                video.clear();
                ns.close();
            public function killIt()
                 trace("VideoHandler.killIt() called");
                 stopIt();
                 _stage.removeChild(video);
                 nc.removeEventListener (NetStatusEvent.NET_STATUS,checkConnect);
                 ns.removeEventListener(AsyncErrorEvent.ASYNC_ERROR, asyncErrorHandler);
                 nc.close();
                 video = null;
                 ns = null;
                 nc = null;

    "and have only droped it once or twice max"
    Well you left that little snippet of info out of your last post! : )
    This could well be the problem as you could have damaged the connection and it's finally given up. As the software options don't help, it's time to get it repaired. As it's accidental damage (and out of warranty), Apple won't fix it.
    Google for iPod repairs in your part of the world and see what you come up with.

  • Cannot see files in Windows Explorer, but iTunes still plays 'em

    hi all,
    I have all my music files on an external hard drive. Up until this morning, I could browse the files on the external drive using Windows Explorer. Now the iTunes Music folder appears empty when I click on it, and even says 0kbs when I right-click Properties.
    But ... iTunes still plays the files fine, and when I right-click Get Info in iTunes, it gives me the correct file path to my external hard drive. When I right-click Show Song in Windows Explorer, it shows me the correct file, yet when I click back up on the root iTunes Music folder, it still shows up empty!
    Any clues? This is most frustrating, as I just got a new laptop and am trying to get my iTunes library back on there.
    thanks

    Sorry for the double post.
    But i should also add that when i go to Edit Preferences and go to iPod and change anything i want to change. Once the ipod is disconnected, it doesnt save and it all goes back to the normal settings.
    Thanks again.

  • Ipod nano screen is white but music still plays

    I have a second generation nano and a couple of months ago I was in my car and turned on my iPod and it powered on but the screen was white. It still played music but I couldn't see what I was playing. Any ideas on how I might be able to fix this???

    Please describe in detail all you have attempted to do in order to resolve the issue.  Don't want to repeat any solutions you may have already tried.  For example, have you tried restoring or restting?

  • RemoveChild() but audio still plays

    Hy!
    I have a flash website where different pages are movieclips which are added or removed from the main stage, depending on which buttons are clicked.
    The problem is that I have a 'video' page where a YouTube player is embedded. The video plays as soon as the movieclip loads, but when I remove the child from the stage and I add another movieclip on top of it, the audio still plays.
    I have tried using the SounMixer.stopAll() but it works only when I test swf in Flash. When I open the swf separately from the folder it is in, it doesn't work anymore.
    Can somebody please help me?
    Thanks a lot!

    It is not a FLVPlayback control, it is a YouTube ActionScript 3.0 Player API.
    Here is the code :
    // The player SWF file on www.youtube.com needs to communicate with your host
    // SWF file. Your code must call Security.allowDomain() to allow this
    // communication.
    Security.allowDomain("www.youtube.com");
    // This will hold the API player instance once it is initialized.
    var player:Object;
    var loader:Loader = new Loader();
    loader.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(Event.INIT, onLoaderInit);
    loader.load(new URLRequest("http://www.youtube.com/apiplayer?version=3")); //load the embedded player
    play_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, playVid);
    pause_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, pauseVid);
    video1_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK,playVid1);
    video2_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK,playVid2);
    video3_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK,playVid3);
    mute_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK,muteVideo);
    unmute_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK,unmuteVideo);
    function onLoaderInit(event:Event):void {
        addChild(loader);
        loader.content.addEventListener("onReady", onPlayerReady);
        loader.content.addEventListener("onError", onPlayerError);
        loader.content.addEventListener("onStateChange", onPlayerStateChange);
        loader.content.addEventListener("onPlaybackQualityChange", onVideoPlaybackQualityChange);
    function onPlayerReady(event:Event):void {
        // Event.data contains the event parameter, which is the Player API ID
      trace("player ready:", Object(event).data);
      player = loader.content;
              player.loadVideoByUrl("http://www.youtube.com/v/v6oJ5rw9mys",0);
        // Set appropriate player dimensions an its position
      player.setSize(480, 360);
              player.x=50;
              player.y=220;
              video_title.text="Multiplying Sevens-Times Table";
    function onPlayerError(event:Event):void {
        // Event.data contains the event parameter, which is the error code
        trace("player error:", Object(event).data);

  • HELP! iTunes Sais My iPod is Corrupted, But Music Still Plays

    I plugged in my iPod, and iTunes sais it is corrupted and to restore it, Windows sais it is corrupted also. But all the music and videos still play. I don't want to restore my iPod because my iTunes library got damaged and whenever I import all the songs again, it just gets damaged in a day. So I don't know what to do. Anyway I can fix it?
    It is the 5.5g iPod video, Windows XP, Intel Celeron D, 2.8ghz, Dell Dimension 1100, 1gb RAM. Itunes 7.0.1, and the firmware is the newest on the iPod, when I plug the ipod into iTunes it sais: "iTunes has detected an iPod that appears to be corrupted. You may need to restore this iPod before it can be used with Itunes. You may also try disconnecting and reconnecting the iPod.". And when I click on the iPod's drive letter in My Computer it sais the disk is not formatted, and it gives an option to do so. But all the music and videos still play fine on the iPod.

    I have the same problem... But after HOURS of trying any and all apple support/user submited suport ideas (all failed) i finaly broke down and restored my iPod. But it did nothing, all it did was instead of my iPod "booting" up and i could listen to my music (that was now skipping thanks to iTunes 7) i get a screen with a picture with the http://www.apple.com/support/ipod URL.... So now i have a $400 peice of junk just sitting their thanks to iTunes... isn't life great?

  • Black screen but sounds still work

    My iphone 4's screen went black but the sounds and vibrations still work if I'm getting a call. I've taken the sim card out and put it back and restored my phone but it still won't turn on.

    If Restore with iTunes on computer did not fix the iPhone, then the next step would be evaluating or replacement of the iPhone front screen assembly. At Apple Store it would be handled with Replacement iPhone 4 exactly same as yours, same color, same GB, for $149.

  • Ipod screen and controls freeze for 1 min but it still plays

    Hello, any and all help is appreciated.
    Listening to music, my ipod's screen and controls will freeze for about a minute, but the ipod still plays music when this happens. It happens every 5 minutes or so. Pretty weird. If I turn on the backlight and it freezes, the backlight will stay on for 1 minute until the thing unfreezes and it kills battery time.
    Also, it will remember any buttons that I press while it is in freeze mode and when it unfreezes, it will perform those functions. (i.e. if i'm listening to a song and the screen and controls freeze, it will continue to play that song. if i use the click wheel to change the volume, it won't work, but as soon as it unfreezes, the ipod will remember my actions and lower the volume eventhough i tried to adjust it 30 seconds ago. make sense?)
    Has this happened to anybody else? Is there anything I can do?

  • Headphones are plugged into mini iPad but sound still coming from speakers

    When I was given this as a gift for Christmas, headphones worked great. Now it doesn't matter if headphones are plugged in or not the sound still comes out of the speakers. I made sure the headphones were in correctly and I've even plugged in different headphones. Is anyone having this problem?
    Do I need to take it back?

    I'm pretty sure they wouldn't be on here saying they tried many different headphones and not getting it fixed if they didn't push it in all the way.  Have you tried resetting your iPad and trying again? To reset it, press and hold the Home and Sleep/Wake button till you see the Apple on the screen and the iPad will reset.  After doing that, try again.
