Imovie closes when i press cmd-k

have been using imovie hd 6 to edit a film for about 2 months now, but all of a sudden last night the program started to close down unexpectedly every time i tried to crop a clip. this is getting extremely annoying and i am at a bit of a loose end, especially considering all the problems i have had editing this film in the past, so any help is invaluable. thanks.

Welcome to the discussions.
Whenever an application begins to do weird things, suspect a corrupted preference file. You should delete this file. iMovie will create a new fresh one automatically when you reopen it.
Close iMovie, go to your Home folder: (YourUserName)/Library/Preferences/com.apple.imovie.plist
Drag this plist file to the trash.
Reopen iMovie and see if it is working properly now.
Post back if this doesn't help.

Try double clicking your home button then force close the stuck PDF by swiping upward. Once you've done that just click the home button again to exit.

Verify that the power source being used is working properly.

I am attempting to update from iMovie 9 to iMovie 10. I have many movies with iMovie 9. Yet, on iMovie 10, when I press "update projects and events", it states "iMovie could not find any projects or events to update". What do I do?

I'm dealing with this same issue. At one point, it did recognize the Update function but then said it could not import the cache.mov and plist files which apparently means that imovie 10 can't see any of these past events. I can't figure it out.

You will have to purchase the newest iLife in the boxed set to get the latest version of iDVD. Or you can try using some other DVD burning software such as Roxio's Toast. Look for it and others at MacUpdate or CNET Downloads

IMovie closes when i try to use "overlap" transition

this recently stopped happening, but it started acting up again today and i need help ASAP!
everytime i try to use the "overlap" transition, iMovie shuts down and doesn't save anything. i save my project frequently just in case so that really isn't hte problem, but i need to use the overlap transition and it won't let me.
does anyone know how to fix this?

I don't know where you are located, but if your camera came from Europe, it may be that it does not have a DV Out option.

I know the connection is good because I am able to control my video camera from within iMovie (play, fast forward, etc) but I cannot share to the camera. What to do? THanks

IPhoto closes when I press the red X.......

When using iPhoto, if I click the red X it actually closes. The little indicator dot under the icon in my dock goes away. I thought you have to click "command + Q" to close programs? What gives? All of my other programs stay open if I hit the red X. Is this something that got screwed up with 10.5.5 or ????

iPhoto only uses one window in normal usage, and if you close that window, it assumes you want to quit the whole program. Some other applications, such as System Preferences, work the same way.

IMovie crashes when I press "Transitions"

If someone is aware of a bug causing this, please help. Every single time I press the transitions button, I see the rainbow circle for few seconds and then voila, iM08 quits.
Any clues??

I'm not an expert, but it appears that the referenced file is corrupt. From the path it looks like it's in the system folder. You might try creating a new user and seeing if the same error occurs. If it doesn't occur then something is corrupt in the first users files. If it does occur with the new user the solution would be to replace the reference files if you have another installation to get the files from, otherwise you may have to reinstall the OS.

IMovie Crashes when i press T for Text

So every time now that i press the T next to the Music and Photos Section on the main page it crashes the whole program. It does not go to that section it just crashes. Has anyone else experienced this and does anyone have a fix. I tried re installing iMovie but that didnt help either.

The same thing just started happening to me too. Originally I thought it was that my computer couldn't handle how much video I was adding... so I exported one video I was working on but still happened. i can use the upper titles and can edit titles that already exist but I cannot use the lower titles. I am assuming this is due to a glitch in the update that most people haven't really found yet, due to lack of use of the titles feature or due to the lack of use of iMovie 09. I will admit that it is a bit irritating, and inconvenient as I am using the program to create materials for a program that I run and I need them done by the 15th of this month. Seriously, Apple needs to fix this. And soon. If anyone finds a cure to this problem pleasssse post.

Adobe Reader X closes when I press any key in the keyboard.

I have recently updated my windows from xp to 7 and installed the latest version of adobe reader. Then I encountered a problem, after some time using my PC, Adobe Reader would close whenever I touched any key in my keyboard, but not on my mouse, so I could only view pdf files by moving around using the mouse, and loss funcionalities like searching for a word in the document, or saving it with a different name. The only way to solve this problem was to restart my PC, and then everything would be allright for a while, then the problem happened again. I uninstalled and installed Adobe again, however this problem persists, so I'm seeking help here.

i am using a JInternalFrame and i would like to perform some actions before the internal frame closes when i press the close button on the top right corner of the frame.

Apple Mail App Doesn't Close When Quit Button Is Pressed

My apple mail application on my iMac Running Mountain Lion is responding extremely slow and doesn't close when I press the quit button.
I have to use force quit to close the mail application.
Also the mail appliation stops spontanuously and a crash report is generated which I send to apple.
Problem exist now for about 3 weeks.
I have 4 email boxes (icloud using imap; and 3 pop3)
Rebuilding my mailboxes didn't solve the problem
Hope someone has a sollution.

Please follow these directions to delete the Mail "sandbox" folder.
Back up all data.
Quit Mail.
Triple-click the line below to select it:
~/Library/Containers/com.apple.mail
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
Services ▹ Reveal
from the contextual menu.* A Finder window should open with a folder named "com.apple.mail" selected. If it does, move the selected folder — not just its contents — to the Desktop. Leave the Finder window open for now.
Relaunch Mail and test. If the problem is resolved, you'll have to recreate some of your Mail settings. You can then delete the folder you moved and close the Finder window. If you still have the problem, quit Mail again and put the folder back where it was, overwriting the one that may have been created in its place. Post your results.
Caution: If you change any of the contents of the sandbox, but leave the folder itself in place, Mail may crash or not launch at all. Deleting the whole sandbox will cause it to be rebuilt automatically.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C). In the Finder, select
Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar, paste into the box that opens (command-V). You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.

If Safari crashes on launch and you don't have another web browser, you should be able to launch Safari by starting up in safe mode.
You may have installed the "Genieo" or "InstallMac" ad-injection malware. Follow the instructions on this Apple Support page to remove it.
Back up all data before making any changes.
Besides the files listed in the linked support article, you may also need to remove this file in the same way:
~/Library/LaunchAgents/com.genieo.completer.ltvbit.plist
If there are other items with a name that includes "Genieo" or "genieo" alongside any of those you find, remove them as well.
One of the steps in the article is to remove malicious Safari extensions. Do the equivalent in the Chrome and Firefox browsers, if you use either of those.
After removing the malware, remember to reset your home page in all the web browsers affected, if it was changed.
If you don't find any of the files or extensions listed, or if removing them doesn't stop the ad injection, then you may have one of the other kinds of adware covered by the support article. Follow the rest of the instructions in the article.
Make sure you don't repeat the mistake that led you to install the malware. Chances are you got it from an Internet cesspit such as "Softonic" or "CNET Download." Never visit either of those sites again. You might also have downloaded it from an ad in a page on some other site. The ad would probably have included a large green button labeled "Download" or "Download Now" in white letters. The button is designed to confuse people who intend to download something else on the same page. If you ever download a file that isn't obviously what you expected, delete it immediately.
In the Security & Privacy pane of System Preferences, select the General tab. The radio button marked Anywhere should not be selected. If it is, click the lock icon to unlock the settings, then select one of the other buttons. After that, don't ignore a warning that you are about to run or install an application from an unknown developer.
Still in System Preferences, open the App Store or Software Update pane and check the box marked
Install system data files and security updates (OS X 10.10 or later)
or
Download updates automatically (OS X 10.9 or earlier)
if it's not already checked.
