Imovie closes when sharing to file

Title says it all, closes when sharing to file. 10.0.7, OS X Yosemite. I've tried a bout 10 times, same thing. It's a 23 minutes video of clips

Hitting iMovie 'application memory' limit on MacBook Air when sharing to file)

Hi Folks,
I'm running iMovie 10.0.1 on a 2011 MacBook Air (2x2 GB DIMM capacity), with Mavericks. I now have 3 edited HD projects there, varying in length from 26 min to 37 min.
I'm able to 'share' any two of these to MP4 files (on an external drive), but I only get two thirds though sharing the third project when I hit an 'application memory' limit, at which point everything freezes.(The same thing happens when sharing to 'Theatre').
I notice that all three projects and their associated 'Events' 'load' when I select 'Projects' in the library (presumably from the external drive to the iMovie application on the MacBook Air drive).
Is there some way to restrict this loading of everything in the library to a single selected project and associated event? Maybe I should move the whole app to the external drive?
Apple tells me that I can't double the DIMMS to the 2013 8 GB level.

I did as you suggested above, viz, isolated the remaining event and project from those that have successfully shared (rendered) earlier, by segregating the latter to a separate library in an external drive, leaving only the target event and project on the MBA's flash drive's iMovie library. (My 2011 Air has 4 GB of non-upgradeable RAM).
I confirmed that there were no other apps running, tidied up with 'CleanMyMac', 'MemoryClean' and 'DiskDoctor', and again tried sharing the remaining HD project to file (and later, to Theatre), but as before, iMovie quit halfway through, with a 'run out of application memory' message.
I then tried sharing to file at progressively lower resolutions, but unexpectedly, this didn't help.
Even though an earlier project of similar size (about 30 min) from the same event shared to file successfully, at full HD, I'm making no headway with this one. It 'plays' normally when opened in iMovie, but........?
What haven't I thought of here?

PS We wound the temperature back for Andy Murray, just to help him along into the quarter finals. He's on his own from here against (probably) one of Rafael Nadal, Novak Jokavic and Roger Federer. Imovie closes when i press cmd-k

have been using imovie hd 6 to edit a film for about 2 months now, but all of a sudden last night the program started to close down unexpectedly every time i tried to crop a clip. this is getting extremely annoying and i am at a bit of a loose end, especially considering all the problems i have had editing this film in the past, so any help is invaluable. thanks.

Welcome to the discussions.
Whenever an application begins to do weird things, suspect a corrupted preference file. You should delete this file. iMovie will create a new fresh one automatically when you reopen it.
Close iMovie, go to your Home folder: (YourUserName)/Library/Preferences/com.apple.imovie.plist
Drag this plist file to the trash.
Reopen iMovie and see if it is working properly now.
Post back if this doesn't help.

Hi, imovie close when I try to share a project to Idvd or try to export .

The problem is when I tray to export or to share an Imovie project to Idvd, it close whenit begin to prepare the project .The Imovie9 version 8.0.6 (821). Mac 10.6 8
What could I do to share this project, but without lost it?.

You will have to purchase the newest iLife in the boxed set to get the latest version of iDVD. Or you can try using some other DVD burning software such as Roxio's Toast. Look for it and others at MacUpdate or CNET Downloads

Issues when sharing InDesign files across Mac and PC?

I'm looking for advise regarding cross platform use of the same InDesign files. We'll be working on 1000+ files with high resolution images. One designer works on a Mac and the other on a PC. We run the same version of InDesign. So far we are finding some (not all) fonts have issues where a PC font has to be replaced by the Mac equivalent and this often means the text box size has to change. When finished the files will be handed over to a fabricator.
Should we be getting a 2nd Mac to replace the PC or is this cross platform sharing going to work without long term issues down the road?

Please, let's not let this get into a platform war.
There's no reason to buy another computer to collaborate unless one of your users is unhappy with the platform they use now, and then the deciding factor should be personal choice. One is decidedly not better than the other from any technical standpoint as far as working in Adobe applications. If you want to cooperate with other users it's best that everyone have the same version of ID, which you've already said is the case, so the only point of conflict is cross-platform sharing, and the only hangups there are fonts and a few third party plugins that might be available only on one platform. If you stick to OpenType fonts, fonts be come a non-issue, and if you don't have OpenType, Stick withthe PD fonts for what becomes a minor nuisance on the Mac side. As far as plugins, nothing you can do if you need a one-platform release to do the work on both sides, but most third-pary plugins are friendly enough that you can stillopen the file with missing plugins on the other end if necessary and don't need the functionality to do your work.

Why is there a delay of up to 5 minutes when sharing a file?

Do you mean a delay with the person receiving the email from Adobe that a file has been shared?
An alternative is to copy the link and email it yourself to the person you are sharing the file with. If you try this alternative are you still seeing a delay?
Does this happen every time you share a file, or did it just happen once?
The Adobe email could possibly be slow (I am not able to reproduce). Possibly your email server or the person receiving the email had a temporary glitch with your email server.

IMovie crashes when sharing to Quicktime

I updated my iMovie program and now everytime I use it and try to share movies with Quicktime it closes unexpectedly. I can export the movie as a m4v file using "export movie", but I need for it to be a .mov file and I typically use "export using Quicktime". It worked flawlessly until I updated. Has anyone else had a problem with iMovie after updating it? Is there a way to revert back to the previous version? I have called Apple Support and the gentleman that helped me got it to do what I could get it to do, but could not get the movie to share using Quicktime. He said that all of the files are the same (?) and that I could just use the m4v. I am doing work at home for someone else and they need the .mov file. Any help or thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

ITunes has encountered a problem and needs to close when adding movie files

So.. I haven't done anything recently with installing any new versions of itunes or anything of the such. Just one day whenever I tried to add .mp4 files (videos) on my ipod using Itunes, it crashes with the error message "iTunes has encountered a problem and needs to close." and it closes the application. I can add music files just fine.
anyone else having this issue? If so, can you let me know what you have done to fix this problem?
Also, I got fed up today and decided to uninstall Itunes and Quicktime and then downloaded the most recent off Apple's site and that still didn't work.

One other thing.. all the movies that I currently have in Itunes that once worked no longer work either. It crashes when I attempt to play them as well in Itunes.

InDesign CS4 freezed up and closes when editing existing files

I worked all day yesterday on a new file, layout etc. I went into the file last night to edit it and every time I would try to edit, either copy, move , fitting, it frose and closed.
I have noticed that when I right click my mouse to get the drop down menu to make an edit this is when it freezes.
Please help.. have several projects with deadlines

I experienced the similar problem this morning. Only, my InDesign CS4 closes.
I can start InDesign OK, but after I select a file to open it closes after just about two seconds. The same situation is with older files.
There is just one small file that loads fine. (My problem file is 185Mb)
After a few hours of playing with InDesign I moved away from it and removed the updated fonts I installed yesterday evening and everything works fine! It must be something to do with Windows 7 on this machine, because my laptop which runs Vista and CS2 had no problems with updated font.
Now I have to find out what is wrong with my font...

IMovie closes when i try to use "overlap" transition

this recently stopped happening, but it started acting up again today and i need help ASAP!
everytime i try to use the "overlap" transition, iMovie shuts down and doesn't save anything. i save my project frequently just in case so that really isn't hte problem, but i need to use the overlap transition and it won't let me.
does anyone know how to fix this?

I don't know where you are located, but if your camera came from Europe, it may be that it does not have a DV Out option.

I know the connection is good because I am able to control my video camera from within iMovie (play, fast forward, etc) but I cannot share to the camera. What to do? THanks

Figured out a solution... I turned off the energy saver preferences and the movie was successfully shared with iDVD. I guess the computer was going to sleep during the share process.

When sharing InDesign files via Creative Cloud, is there a way to display spreads instead of individual pages?

We're designing a booklet, and the client needs to see the spreads, not just one page at a time. I can export a .pdf... but I'd like to just share the .indd file.

My movie works fine in imovie but when shared with media browser the audio isn't right

My movie in imovie works fine. Once I share it with media browser (in order to make a dvd) the movie audio doesn't sync right. There is also extra audio that isn't in the imovie.

• Large
• HD 720p
• HD 1080p
I use Large or Medium - and if audio ill behaves as Large - I use Medium
Never Mobile or HD - as resulting DVD will be bad.
And never "Share to iDVD" as this too is far from optimal.
