  • Safari Web Content consuming all my memory

I'm having a problem with Safari Web Content.
I've jst re-loaded Mountain Lion in a brute forcve attempt to resolve my issue, but it's still occurring.
The issue is:  with very little running, if I run Safari and bounce around a few websites, I can easily consume all my memory.  I end up with this:
As you see, Active memory is too high (before this test I had Mail open, and Avtive memory was about 2GBm what you might expect normally).
Actibve memory had actually peaked at about 3/4 of the total, but then some must have got swapped out to Inactive.....giving us the picture above.
But look at the Real Mem occupied by Safai Web Content!  That can't be right, surely.
Nevertheless, I'm led to believe that OSX's memory management algorithm's will swap out Inactive for Free when it is required....well, this isn't happening.  I saw Free memory down to 7MB at one point, not a typo.  Everything grinds to a halt.
If I am patient, and try to Quit Safari, I end up back here:
Clearly showing that if I manage to kill Safari, the memory gets freed up again.
I understand why OSX wants to handle memory with the Inactive concept - "you've just closed Word, but maybe you'll open it again in the next ten minutes so we'll leave it in memory, inactive, so when you try and open it, it will open really quickly".  Right now, I'd rather turn that freature off and have memory behave more primitively and take the hit on re-opening.
As I mentioned, I reloaded OSX Mountain Lion and the problem persists.  When you re-load or upgrade your OS, there are many configuration settings (desktop, mail, safari) that are kept so that the upgrade looks seamless;  clearly whatever is corrupting me here has been kept also.  For that reason I'm loathe to go to Mavericks, because I presume the same corruption would exist (and also I hear Mavericks is still a bit shaky with the native Mail app).
What config type files should I look to safely delete and have the OS rebuild?  Any ideas?

OK, so I tried a Safe Boot.  It wired 5GB of memory, and for a while I thought what was left would behave itself, but within about 10 minutes I consumed everything again.
    Here's the before:
And here's 10 minutes later, after bouncing around a few websites:
I also tried firing up Safari, going to Facebook, and letting it sit for a while.  No effect.
So, the problem occurs when visiting multiple sites - memory isn't getting released properly.
I think I'm left with a move to Mavericks.

  • Component controller is consuming lots of memory

    Hi All,
I have an WebDynpro application and a component controller (MyCompController) too where I have written most of the business specific code. The basis team informed that the component controller (MyCompController) is consuming lots of memory.
Could anybody suggest me how to takle this problem. I dont have any other details and I am new to handle this kind of activity.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Patana

    Hi Patana
Your controller can consume lots of memory because of lots of unnecessary data is loaded in advance and do not used actually. Try to analyze the following points:
    1. Unnecessary data is loaded into the context nodes in advance. Do not load all the data into the context in wdInit() method (do not fill in all the models too). This is not the right way. Instead try to use supply-functions for each context node with data. Supply-function will be called by Webdynpro automatically only when the data is actually required to be shown on UI.
    2. Unnecessary embedded Webdynpro components are created and loaded in memory in advance. Do not create embedded Webdynpro components manually in wdInit() method. Instead try to setup component usages with Create Mode option = OnDemand. Then Webdynpro will create the components automatically when this is really required.

Flash builder 4.7 consuming lot of memory in VMware VDI environment. When we debugg the application then it is throwing out of memory exception. We need to close and relaunch Flash builder IDE numerous times. Can you please help us with setting changes we need to make for flash builder or VMware VDI environment so that we can resolve this issue?

    Hi Atul_Saini,
So I checked your link and all seems correct on my computer.
At the bottom of the link you provided there is "see also" section, about activation / deactivation.
I did not deactivated my licenses before my window re-install, and if now I go to Flash Builder -> Help , desactivation button is greyed out. Could it be the source of my problem that I used my licenses on two computer and did not deactivated them ?
If yes, how could I deactivate thoses products ? I searched on my profile but I can't find a way to do it.

  • Oracle Instances Processes  consuming too much memory

Will somebody be able to guide me with the factors that are causing too much memory consumption when a single Oracle.exe instance is started ? Due to this problem it is not possible to run 2 instances at the same time.
Oracle is running on Windows NT 4.0 SP6.
    Oracle version 8.1.6.0.0
Currently we have 512MBytes of ram.(4.83G free space)
One of the Instance consumes as much as 178,320K of Ram,
    another consumes about 138,000K

Oracle consumes as much memory as you want, but more memory is faster.
    Review your init.ora (db_block_buffer y shared_pool_size)
(It4s posible to run 10 instances in a machine with just 1 Gigabyte and they work fine. It depends on the use of the databases, the number of users, just for production or development, etc, ...).

  • Mkmapview on zoom in or zoom out consumes lot of memory

    Hello,
In my application i am using mkmapview as the main view and showing images (around 75 images) on the map by annotation.
on zoom in or zoom out mapview consumes lot of memory and after some time it recives memory warning then application gets crash.
    any suggestion for that.
    Thank u in advance.

Place the property node inside a case structure and enable it when the iteration terminal is "1". (not zero!)
And please place a small wait inside your loop, there is no reason it should spin that fast. (Since the data never changes in your example, the entire graph terminal and inner loops belong outside the main while loop. However, I assume that your real application is different )
NOTE: you could also use the "first run?" primitive or enable it when [i]=0, but in this case you would need a small sequence structure to ensure it happens after ther graph terminal is written for the first time.
Also note that xy graphs take complex data, simplifying the wiring and data structures.

    175Gb should be enough.

  • Eclipse with flash builder 4 plugin consume the whole memory after several builds

    Hi,
we have installed eclipse flash builder 4 plugin on eclipse 3.5.2 on Mac OS 10.6.
We experience problem with memory leak using flash builder plugin 4.
When we build flash project several times, then we see that eclipse consume more and more in time and at the end it looks like that eclipse consume all available memory. When there is no free memory, then system start to swap and we need to restart, because everything is going to be slow when swaping starts.
Any suggestions how to solve this problem?
I suppose that other people also have this problem. I will be realy happy if someone share his experience to fix this.
    We uses java 1.5.
    Thanks in advanced!

    Ok, problem solved.
First I uninstalled the flash builder plugin, and eclipse galileo was still not starting.
    Then I uninstalled java (both jre/jdk, v6.20).
Crossing my fingers, I reinstalled jdk and then jre (latest downloaded); and eclipse ran again (pheeeew!).
Finally, I installed flash builder 4 plugin again, it works too (!), and aptana works, ... all is working back again, fine!

That's how it is supposed to work, just delete any songs, albums or artists you no longer want on your phone.

  • Firefox 12 STILL consumes too much memory and periodically stalls

    1. This has gone on actually since at least Firefox 8 for many of us. With Windows 7 32 or 64bit, AND we are told OTHER OS's as well, Firefox 12 IS consuming too much memory!
When FF 12 memory consumption "hits" 800MB on a 8 GB machine, and continues to slowly climb, FF 12 has code or other problems.
    2. ALSO, Firefox 12 under many circumstances, is slowing to a crawl, especially in opening windows and tabs.
NOTHING we do, inspect with memory tools, etc. seems to point to any "culprits" or guide the way to researching and potentially solving these problems...and they ARE problems within Firefox 12, and likely earlier versions.
    TIME TO CLEAR THE AIR?
These are problems being seen by others, with or without any (totally blanked out/disabled) Add-On's and even most Plug-In's being disabled or removed, both for testing the problems sen in FF 12.
There IS a problem, or more than one, here, and it's not isolated or "just refer to this checklist" solvable.
There's problems, perhaps memory leaks and other agenda IN THE CODE.
We users need to stop being poo-poo'ed and "pampered" by needless communications that do nothing to truly address the problems.

I encountered this after the memory leak was mentioned as pat of a slowdown issue with an add-on that has been in use as long as I've been using Firefox (All-in one sidebar -AIOS). After a relatively short length of time under both Firefox 11 and 12 it starts to slow down. Sub menus take more than a second to show up when the parent menu is clicked, links take more than a second to activate, pages don't load as quickly. (I have a 30Mbps downstream internet connection that I test regularly, and consistently shows between 25 and 30MBps speeds from multiple sites throughout the US. It's NOT my download speed.)
In looking for explanations I saw at least one mention of a memory Leak.
So I decided to test this for myself. I first removed AIOS, then re-started Firefox and just left it running. I did nothing except minimize and restore it a few times. About an hour later the memory used by FF had gone from a reasonable 42K or so, to over 200K.
I tested again after uninstalling ALL my add-ons and plug ins. The same thing happened again.
This is NOT simply high memory use. Which I interpret as a particular tasks or process using more memory than it maybe should.
This is quite clearly a memory leak. Nothing was being executed, nothing was running with Firefox, and no pages were loaded during this time. But he use memory just steadily grew.
This is clearly a new issues since I did NOT have this problem when I was using Firefox 8. If I can find an install of that I'm going back to it.
If not I'll settle for the ESR mentioned here. If nothing else it seems to have a slower leak.
I never did like the new version number / rapid release schedule. Mostly because growing version numbers at that rate made no real sense to me as a developer myself. But also because speed of release for new features should not be the target but quality. I think we can see that this has clearly fallen by the wayside.
I only wish I thought there was a viable alternative.

I have the same sort of problem with 30-40 tabs, with memory usage growing until crash. It seems a lot worse after restarting from standby mode on Vista - it's often highly unresponsive for a while, then crashes.
I have a fair few plug-ins running, one of the benefits of Firefox.
Is their a way I can log memory use of parts of Firefox, particularly the plug-ins?

  • Remote Desktop Consuming ALL System Memory

Folks, I have a Windows 7 enterprise machine through which i RDP to another desktop on the same floor as mine, which ends up freezing my machine untill i donot close out the RDP program from Task Manager.
On checking from the Process tab i see that MSTSC.exe process is consuming almost all of the 8GB of memory i have on my machine. When i kill the present RDP session and start a new one, it starts consuming memory from MBs and reaches to GBs almost
    all memory capacity.
I have replaced my machine with a new rebuilt machine alltogether, but still is the same issue.
I have also changed the Experience setting and optimised the session settings for RDP but no good.
Please suggest as it is hampering my day to day work.

    Hi,
I suggest we first run Xperf tool to take a look for the high memory usage:
WPT: WPR/Xperf: Capture high cpu, disk i/o,
file, registry, networking, Private bytes, Virtual bytes, Paged Pool/Nonpaged pool and/or application slowness.
Similar threads suggested that the high usage caused by MSTSC.exe is some printer related issues, please take a check with your printer configuration and the printer drivers.
    Here;
    here.
In addition, please also take a look at this KB article:
