IMovie convert to IPOD

I would like to know how I go about converting my finished IMOVIE film to my IPOD.
Will I need to burn it to DVD and then rip it and convert it back to IPOD format or is there an easier way ?
HELP !

I had a quick go at dropping the IMovie file into ITunes and first of all it looks as if everything is working with the Quicktime Timeline icon showing up and transferring ....... but
then all the clips and rendering and joins in the film I have done start popping up on the screen aswell.
At this point I just clicked on the X otherwise I guess would have had loads of them in my Movie section of ITunes !!
Do the little clips dissapear once they have all been transferred or have I done something wrong ?
HELP !

  • Why doesn't my imovie project for ipod touch go to my computer's iTunes when i hit the option "share with iTunes"? I need iTunes to have the project so I can format it in a video converter. Can anyone help?

I downloaded Imovie to my Ipod touch (I don't have a Mac computer/laptop) so that I can edit a project for school video assignment. I have editted the video, but I can't figure out how to make it go to Itunes. I need it there so that I can put it into a video converter for projection to my class. The problem is, I don't know how to get Itunes to recognize that there is a project made. Imovie (at least the mobile version) has a "share with Itunes" feature, which I found. When I use this feature... nothing happens on the itunes end. Does anyone know why this is and have a solution?

This is what the iMovie Help says:

Is that the procedure you've been following?

  • QT/iMovies playable on ipod?

I have several home movies I would like to put on my ipod. How would I do that and be able to view them on the pod?

    Brian,
If they are in quicktime format it is very simple. Add them to iTunes by going to file-->add file to library. Once the video is in iTunes ctrl click the video and go to convert selection to iPod.
If they are not in a quicktime compatible format you can use something like this...
    iSquint
    If they are iMovie files...

  • I Ipod class wont play TED and other video podcasts.  The genious bar could not figure out the problem.  This problem is not isolated to a single computer.  Secondly, the convert to ipod version feature in Itunes does not resolve the problem.

My Ipod classic wont play TED, The Grid, Techzilla and other video podcasts (but not all video podcasts).  The genious bar could not figure out the problem. Instead, the Apple store gave me credit towards a new classic, which produced the same problem.  This problem is not isolated to a single computer.  Secondly, the convert to ipod version feature in Itunes does not resolve the problem.  Lastly, I tried restoring the ipod to no avail.  I've heard this is a video codec problem.

  • Convert Windows ipod to mac; Can I go back?

I read the following on Apple's knowledge info.
"You can convert an iPod formatted for Windows into an iPod for Mac by using the iPod for Mac Software Updater on the Apple website. Note that once it is reformatted, it will only work with Macs. You need Mac OS 9.2 or Mac OS X 10.1 or later to reformat an iPod for Windows into an iPod for Mac."
Now my question is if I convert a windows ipod to a mac ipod and then can I go back later and convert it from a mac ipod back to a pc ipod?
Has anyone done it successfully? I understand it isn't officially supported.

If I use my daughter's PC (with iTunes & iPod software) to configure the iPod to be formatted to accept the PC data, I need to "reset" the iPod.
You mean to restore the iPod. Restore and reset are quite different operations.
This will erase everything which is no problem as I have all the music on my Mac and can reinstall - or can I?
    Yes, you can.
When resetting the iPod on the PC does that operation make that PC the "master" and cause the iPod to want to be connected to it for updates of songs?
After you restore the iPod on the PC, it makes the PC the master.
Will that cause the iPod to think my Mac is not its "master" computer?
    Yes, it will.
To use an iPod between these 2 computers and allow the iPod to be readable by both the Mac and the PC, you should restore the iPod using the PC and set the iPod to manual update. Check this: Using iPod with multiple computers

  • Has anyone tried MacX Free DVD to iMovie Converter?

I want to convert a DVD (non copyright) to iMovie so I can play it on my iPhone.
I was thinking of trying MacX Free DVD to iMovie Converter, has anyone tried this?

Just gave it a go and it is very good (used sparingly) Takes a while to render out though. Tons of variations also available in the effects settings - and it is free - no watermark even.

  • Converting for iPod Touch

    Hello,
I have several mp4 videos that I'd love to have on my iPod Touch. I read that QuickTime Pro was a good way to convert them since my iTunes doesn't seem to have an option to convert for iPod anymore.
Anyways, I've done this several times and I just get the audio, with a white picture. Is this fixable? It also doesn't take every long as I would expect it to take a least an hour for an hour video.
    Any ideas?
    Thank you for your time

OK, thanks for the clarification. I was getting tangled between the originals and the converted copies.
I'm still not certain, but I have to guess that it is indeed a problem with the aspect ratio of the movie. 1280x544 is an odd size, so I think it may not be converting successfully and so giving a blank video track. I'm going to have to do a bit of research to come up with a suggestion. Meanwhile, perhaps someone else here will have an idea.
    Regards.

  • QT7Pro - Movies convert with no sound when converting to iPod

I bought QT7Pro last night, wanting to convert movies (.avi and .mpg) I have on my computer. They play and have sound in QT just fine, but when I go to convert them to MPEG-4 or convert for iPod, the options claim to have no audio track and it winds up being a silent video. How can I convert my movies without losing the sound on them?

QuickTime Pro doesn't (can't) export audio from muxed files (MPEG 1 or 2 and Flash).
Use other software to export those formats to the iPod settings. A quick search through the iPod discussions pages (now over one million views) will give you some software ideas.

  • IMovie - "Convert Entire Clip" reduced clip's frame rate

    Hi,
I was making a video using iMovie.
I wanted to speed up or slow down some clips, so I clicked the "Convert the Entire Clip" button.
After the clips were converted, I noticed that the frame rate of my clips was reduced. It looked lagging in most part of the clips. The original format of the clips is mp4, iMovie converted them to .mov format
Is there a setting to improve/maintain the frame rate during the conversion?
    Thanks.

Thanks to all who have responded,
I had planned to create short movie clips for emailing but wanted something quick and easy to do so.
It would be great if I could from iMovie select a clip and share to QT then email the results but it seems that each time I will have to ‘work’ on the clip to prepare it for sharing. I don’t want to go to that much trouble each time so I doubt I will use this means.
I don’t understand why it is not easy to do so. Each time I try to open a QT clip in WMP it says it can’t use the file. I had hoped it would convert the movie to MPV or better if QT would convert to something other than files most PC’s won’t open. There are now four PC users that can’t open the file and one that can. 1 out of 5 is not too impressive.
By the way, I don’t know what Sorenson is.
I create numerous iMovies but never use QT even though I keep buying Pro each system upgrade just in case.
Is there a quicker solution to sharing by email?

  • 7.4.2.4 Muxed MPEG-1 now works in iTunes but Convert to iPod doesn't?

Hi All (go easy this is my first post here)
I've done some searches and I know that mux-ed MPEG-1 files used to loose their sound when imported into iTunes. This looks like it is now fixed in iTunes 7.4.2
eg the example file supplied davidelasalashowreel2005 which is MPEG-1 MUXed imports fine into iTunes.
But if you hit the "convert to iPod" it looses sound in iTunes and in the iPod (nano3)
How does this fit the statement "if it works in quicktime it will work in the iPod?"
Other than spending another $50 for quicktime Pro are there any other fixes for this?
I just want to import an AVI of my kids singing Happy Birthday onto my wife's birthday present - why is it so hard?
    regards
    Matthew

Unsolved till yet. I´ve read all the other threads touching this theme, but nothing substantial. No solution. No comments of Apple.
I´ve take a look into the files with Wordpad and I can see the lyrics inside the files. But, again, with the iPod nothing except the title.

  • MPG file, used QT7.x Pro to convert to iPod:  No Sound

I have some MPG files from my camera and when I load them into iTunes, they work, but I cannot get them on my iPod. When I run the iPod convert (either in iTunes or QT7Pro) The conversion works, but the video has no sound.
    Any ideas?

I used MPEG Streamclip to convert it to .dv, then used iTunes to convert it for the iPod, now it has sound but the file size went from 47 meg to nearly 1 gig!
If you use MPEG Streamclip as suggested by Dick above to convert directly, your iPod file should be on the order of 23-24 MBs. (Cutting the video data rate to 500 kbps and audio to 44.1KHz/128 kbps would further reduce the file size to about 19 MBs for the file specified.) As to your file size increasing to almost 1 GB, that is because the DV file you created has a data rate roughly 20 times the data rate of your original MPEG-1 file and roughly 40 times that of the H.264 file created by the default iPod setting in MPEG Streamclip. Use the intermediate DV conversion method only if you plan to edit the content in an editing application like iMovie or plan to use the new "Movie to iPod" converter which produces a 640 x 480 iPod compatible file that is 3 to 3.5 times the size of the 320 x 240 file produced by the MPEG Streamclip iPod default settings.
