IMovie crashes when I open my project
I'm getting frustrated with a project in iMovie. I haven't touched the project in a few weeks. Prior to today, everything would load up fine. Now when I try to open the project, iMovie begins to load the file, says "less than a minute", and then crashes half way through the load.
It's a large file at about 55 gig. It's on a 500 gig LaCie external harddrive. I have over 140 gig available on the drive with my OS on it.
Does anybody know how I can get the file to open? I really just want bits and pieces of the project, but they are very crucial.

My guess is that Your external hard disk is not formatted as
Mac OS Extended journaled.
Then You have trouble. I think that Lennart Thelander has some advice
on how to restore this condition.
Try to search this and iMovie 4 or prior - forum.

The titler does not crash for me at any stage of the Adobe updates for Premiere Pro, including 3.2.

HELP! AE keeps crashing when i open a project!
i was working on this text animation 2 days ago. spent 7 hours on it! restarting is not an option.
now when i open the project AE keeps crashing at 96%.
on the school computers so it shouldn't have anything to do with that.
was opening from an external drive, but copied the file to the D drive and neither will open. switched computers same thing. cleared cache.
why is it doing this? how can i fix it?
how do i find a crash log? (i dont know how to do that)
it was working fine just 2 days ago:(
opens other projects just fineactually i fgured it out after searching the internet high and low.
i was using dynamic link, and i think maybe that was causing the problem (even though i think it shouldn't) maybe i should have had premiere open first before AE???
but i fixed it by changing the name of the folder the footage was in, and then opening the project and relinking the files. -
IMovie crash when adding film to project
When i want to ad a movie to a project iMovie just crashes.... I cant do anything with the program... (i'm using Lion on a late 2010 model macbookpro)

Close iMovie if open. In Finder, go to your User/Library/Preferences folder. Locate the file named "com.apple.iMovieApp.plist" and drag it to the Trash. Don't empty Trash just yet.
(NOTE: As you are on Lion, your Library folder will be hidden. To access it, while in Finder view click on Go in the menu. Now option-click on Go and you will see the Library folder appear in the drop-down list.)
When next opened, iMovie will rebuild the .plist file with the default settings. If desired these can be changed in the iMovie menu item iMovie>Preferences. If iMovie opens and appears to be working normally, you can now empty the Trash.
Deleting the preference file will not harm your Events or Projects but may fix iMovie's odd behaviour. The file can become corrupted under some circumstances, such as when iMovie quits unexpectedly (as in your case) or is Force Quit. Also, it's possible that the upgrade to Lion has upset something in iMovie - deleting the .plist file may fix this.

Premiere Pro CC Crashes when I Open a project
The title explains it all. I just bought Adobe Creative Cloud and I'm not sure how to check errors or logs, but basically the app will open and go to the Welcome Window, but when I make a new project or open an existing one the program crashes.

Why does encore crash when I open a project made on enocre 1.5?
When I try to open Encore 1.5 projects into encore cs5 crashes. I'm running it on a intel xeon Mac Pro Has anybody got good answer? I would like to open old projects. The old projects were made in Encore 1.5 (windows, of course). I can import the menus and old avi files created in Pro 1.5 perfectly. Any answers?
Everything else in encore cs5 runs smoothly other than every once in a wile when I try to open Encore CS5 while running Pro CS5 while Pro CS5 is captureing HDV Encore hangs up and I have to do a force quit on encore. Then I have to shut down the computer and turn it back on to clear up the problem. I'm able to ge this to happen every time. So for future note to all on a Mac already have encore open then you can capture HDV in pro wile working in encore.Remember, I was only guessing on that compatibility, but I've read of similar issues, without the X-platform aspect. Maybe Jeff, or another user, who's used many versions of En can reply.
Between you and me, I'd be more inclined to reconstruct (as you say, the PSD's can be reused), rather than try and sort out incompatibilities, and force things to work. For me, the Menus are the most labor-intensive part of an En Project. Where those exist, even if you need to Edit in Photoshop a bit, I'd start from scratch, just using the earlier Project as my guideline. I think that you might actually make less work for yourself in the end.
In my one Project to fail, I just started over (had most Assets just sitting already), and rebuilt. It worked the second time around, and I never bothered to find out what MY error was in the one that failed. Easier to redo, than troubleshoot.

I create a project w/iMovie and I have two problems: When I try to finalize the project iMovie crashes; when I share to DVD sometimes it crashes also; if I can successfully send it to DVD and then burn a DVD there are wavy lines on the screen. I'm uising photos in my project, not video. Help!
You can split a project in two by doing this.
1) Go to the Project Library View.
2) Select your project, and click FILE/DUPLICATE PROJECT. Give it a name like "your project name - part 1".
3) Do this again. This time name it "your project name - part 2"
4) Open Part 1 for editing. Delete everything in the second half.
5) Open Part 1 for editing. Delete everything in the first half of the project.
At the end you should have your original project, plus the same project in two parts. -
Yesterday I installed motion 5. It crashes when creating a new project or opening a template or old project. It runs on macbook 2.1 intel core 2.16 GHz. Thanks or helpful hints.

Logic Pro Crashes when I open a new project
Hi all,
I recorded a project with Logic yesterday, saved it, and everything seemed fine. Today, when I opened the project, Logic crashes ONLY when I scroll back to the first musical bar on the project. I can play the project from around bar two, but if I scroll back any further, Logic crashes. It has done this several times today. Any suggestions?

JeremyI was wondering if you upgrade to 10.5.3 if that would iron out anything. You are running 10.5.2 still? I haven't upgraded to 10.5.3 yet, but in the past, I've had issues with Final Cut Pro freezing and the latest version of the OS resolved the problem somehow. DON'T DO IT YET THOUGH!!!
I would post the error log message if it's giving you one. Someone who knows how to read that stuff may help you. Just a thought. -
IMovie Crashing when importing photo with Ken Burns Effect
iMovie is crashing all the time when I am trying to import a photo with Ken burns effect using media browser and hitting "apply". Is this a known problem ? If I dont apply Ken Buruns effect then it imports it fine.
I am trying to put Photo at the begining of my project ( and then put title on that photo). If I have any clip in the begining and then try importing photo with ken burn's effect then it is not crashing, but it still does not import it. I click "apply" and it does soemthing , I can see the clip in timeline for a sec and then it disappears. So either way, cant use any photos anywhere with Ken Burn's effect. Whats going on?
I have more than enough space available on my HDD and I do not think there is any conflicting QT plugins I have ( It's all default Install). This is so consistent that it seems like a Bug but can't find this exact case mentioned anywhere in discussions.

I have two guesses here:
o The Ken Burns code of iMovie has a problem with partitions
o The Ken Burns code of iMovie has a problem with access rights
I've never seen a Ken Burns problem with partitions (I've used multiple partitions for years with no problems). I suspect that's not the cause.
But I think you've hit the nail on the head that iMovie may have a problem with permissions/access rights. I don't know exactly what the problem is — or whether it's caused by iMovie or OSX — but there is behavior that suggests something isn't right.
I suspect the issue, whatever it is, causes a failure to save the rendered Ken Burns clip inside the project package. The red bar runs, but the rendered clip isn't saved to disk. My guess is OSX refuses to allow iMovie to save the file for OSX doesn't believe YOU have permission.
One would think that using the Finder to set the permissions of the project package would solve the problem, but it doesn't seem to.
There are two possible solutions:
1. Set the partition to ignore permissions. In the Finder, click on the partition and Get Info. Turn ON the checkbox "Ignore permissions on this volume";
2. Use Disk Utility to reformat (erase) the partition. Somehow that seems to fix the problem.
Here's some history which may suggest another solution: In an earlier version of iMovie a similar problem occurred, where iMovie would refuse to open a project. It had somehow decided you didn't have permission to edit the project.
The only solution was to use the Finder to create a new set of project folders — a folder and all the folders it normally contains — then Option-drag the FILES of the original project folder to the appropriate folders. (Option-dragging COPIED the files instead of moving them.) The new project folder would now open normally.
If you are adept at working with packages, you might try creating your own package (which contains all the normal folders) then Option-drag the files of the problem project to your package.
Once I saw an error -52 announcement, but it was not reproducible.
Error -52 is a "Get file position error", which (may) suggest a disk directory error. That may be a disk issue unrelated to iMovie. You might want to consider using Disk Utility to Verify/Repair that partition.
I have a separate partition for the movies and made a
link from my home account to the directory with the
movies on that partition. iMovie works correctly
except for the Ken Burns photo rendering.
I'm never sure whether creating such a link is a good idea or not, especially for the iLife apps. Some apps don't resolve the alias as they should, which creates other problems. A "Movies" alias sends iDVD a million miles beyond Jupiter, for example, where the iDVD project joins the space dust.
For iMovie projects saved on partitions and external drives, I just save them inside a "iMovie 6 Projects" folder on that drive. (Every new version of iMovie gets a new folder.) For convenience, I may create aliases to help navigate there, but do nothing else. Everything just works.
If you figure out something new, please say.

Xcode 4 crashes after I open my project
After I waste a day searching why Xcode consumes 100% of CPU (it seems a problem with SVN repository) this application begin to crash systematically when I open my project.
I clean the build, I deleted DerivedData contents and Xcode cache... no luck.
I've never seen so buggy program from Apple. Xcode 4 has thrown my productivity.
The project is a Standard C++ with Boost libraries. Maybe Xcode 4 needs to test this kind of code. Indexing+Metaprogramming C++=Crash?

It's not the first time that happen (with Xcode 4.0 and another C++ project, now with 4.0.1). It seems that the Boost library challenging the robustness of the indexing code. But nowadays this library is essential for programming of modern C++.
If I disable all #include <boost/...> Xcode goes back to life and my project back to the death.

Close out of the camera app, double tap the home button and completely close out of the app.
Then do a reset, no data loss. Hold down the home/sleep button together until you see the apple logo and then release, then wait for the phone to boot back up.
Then check your camera roll again. -
Premiere Pro CC 2014 closes when i open a project
Hi, im a PC user and when i open a project or create a new project, Premiere Pro closes when the project opens. I get no crash warning or anything like that, it just closes down.
Also, this may be related. My Creative Cloud app tells me that it needs updating, but when i do, it too closes down. When i reopen the CC app, it tells me that it needs that same update again.
Im on Windows 7, Please helpCC desktop lists applications as "Up to Date" when they are not
