Imovie disappeared after leopard reinstall

Due to some operating system files being corrupted, I had to reinstall Leopard on my son's MacBook. However, after the reinstallation, iMovie was no longer there. Is there some way to recover the program or to have the installation disk install it?

sure, it has.. the Installer Dialog offers you a 'Clean Install' = erasing your harddrive's content to zil, or an 'Archieve' Install, which keeps all content (apps, datas) except the OS ..
.. Should I have received an iLife DVD with the original purchase?
you'll find them on your original installer disk, insert them, choose Application Install, choose manually the iLife package..
aside: a Re-Install doesn't fix a file corruption on a Unix system.. other, easier ways are a better option .. Mac ≠ Windows

  • Mailboxes disappeared after Leopard install

When I installed Leopard my mailboxes disappeared. I still have the same messages in INBOX, SENT, TRASH, and JUNK that were there before and my address book is fine, but the critical mailboxes (folders) where I filed my messages have vanished!
    HELP!

I know I need a real Mac expert..but until I find the 'right' one...I too cannot access ALL my address book after Leopard was installed.
Where do I find the folder mentioned? Went to applications..NADA...have so many problems with mobilemail..it is discouraging.
Appreciate any simple response that I might be able to use until I get major help!

Ahh, welcome to the wonderful world of wifi under Leopard. Maybe you weren't aware that tens of thousands of people have been having endless problems with wifi whilst using Leopard .... I just got back from holiday - full signal yet no internet. Connect using ethernet and there it is - working perfectly. The culprit? Apple's very own Airport extreme base station, the new one which I bought thinking my old one was on the blink - nope.
Meanwhile Apple have not said a word about this in the last 8-10 weeks of utter misery for countless people - not a sausage. Many people are counting on 10.5.2 fixing this. I say don't count on it. Remember to complain to Apple as it is their own software/hardware that is at fault here. Meanwhile, they introduce a ... wifi laptop.... ooh the irony.

  • IMovie disappeared after archive and reinstall

This is strange...I did an archive and reinstall to clear up some problems that appeared on my new iMac after using the setup assistant. The process worked fine EXCEPT...iMovie and iWeb were deleted from the iMac and were not reinstalled!
These seem to be the only "iApps" that were affected. iTunes is still there, as well as iPhoto, iCal, etc. I even have aliases that still point to the missing apps.
How can I reinstall these? Thanks.

  • TC backup unavailable after Leopard reinstall

    Hi !
Due to hardware issues, I have reinstalled Leopard with user archiving so nothing is lost... but Time Capsule backup: somehow Time Machine has unlinked the TC identification so I cannot access my previous 700GB backup anymore.
I don't want to cleanup the TC hard drive and backup 700GB again !
    Thanks for your help

I have the same exact problem and am coming from the NYC 14th Street Apple Store Genius Bar.
Let me add a few details.
My iMac had a mechanical hard drive failure that I tried to recover from: I had reformatted the hard-drive, reinstalled OS X and could not use the Migration Assistant from the Install Disk. I needed to make several attempts to recover my files from the Time Machine back-up but only after I had done a full upgrade from 10.5.1 to 10.5.7 and using the Migration Assistant Utility. However, the back-up had files up until May 5, 2009 archived. When I tried to recover files manually from Time Machine and minted the .sparesebundle manually, I had received the same message: "the resource temporarily unavailable."
When I returned my iMac to the Apple Store this weekend after another hard-drive failure two days later (my Genius Bar appointment was set up when the drive failed first) and told my story with the TC brought in, I was told that while my directory was slowly getting compromised my TM backup file was also getting useless data and that my best bet is to try to copy the .sparsebundle off TC and attemp a recovery on a copy on an external drive (that I hooked up via USB to TC.)
Unfortunately, this too had failed in two different ways.
    1) Copying the file proceeded about half-way (of a 260 Gb file) when I got an error message that the resource could not be read.
    2) Trying to Archive from the Airport Utility went OK (I had other files including .sparsebundles of our other laptops) until the iMac file, and at that point the Archiving hung.
I, too, would like recover before my iMac comes back with the new drive from the Apple Store.

  • Tablet disappears after Leopard install

I just installed Leopard on a new HD and used the Migration Assistant at the first start-up to transfer everything over from my old drive (that had Tiger on it). I've got a couple hiccups that I'm trying to iron out. Biggest so far seems to be that every time I restart the Mac, my Wacom tablet isn't recognized after start-up. Each time the Mac is powered up, I have to reinstall the tablet's software using the disk that came with it. Any ideas?

There are dozens of posts here about this and similar problems, with solutions.

  • IMovie disappeared after iLife 08 upgrade

Hi, I installed iLife '08 on my Powerbook G4 and now iMovie has disappeared. What did I do wrong? Any help is appreciated!

iMovie '08 is not compatible with G4 processors. iMovie HD '06 should still be there (do a spotlight search?) otherwise you can download it again:
    The file isn't large:

I saved all of my libraries and iMovie files to an external disk and reinstalled my OS (tiger 10.4) Now i can not open the movie I made just hours before.
    Wha Happened?

  • MS Powerpoint disappeared after Leopard

When we installed Leopard on y son's month old MacBook (white), PowerPoint disappeared from the Dock and we could not find it on the hard drive. Ideas?

Ask your son what he did.
Maybe he run the Office Uninstaller by mistake.
Or maybe he simply dragged the Office applications off the Dock.
If the latter, you can simply restore the Powerpoint application from the Microsoft Office folder inside the Applications folder by dragging it back to the Dock. Dock icons are just shortcuts.

  • Wireless Network has "disappeared" after Leopard installation

We have 2 Macs, my MacPro (connected by wire to ADSL) and an iMac (connecting to my wireless router to the same ADSL line). The iMac uses Airport to reach my wireless router, connecting to "Joe's Network." (MacPro --> D-Link Modem --> D-Link Wireless Router --> iMac Airport) This has worked fine for about 2 years.
After installing Leopard yesterday, the iMac does not show "Joe's Network," and I don't know how to restore it. Other networks in the neighborhood show up in the iMac's Airport listing, and the unsecured ones CAN be connected to. This indicates to me that there is nothing wrong with the iMac. I unplugged and replugged the modem and router on my MacPro, but nothing is working.
Can someone point me in the right direction?

  • Open/save dialog boxes disappear after leopard upgrade

hi, since upgrading to leopard, i cant open or save in logic. I can open existing documents from finder and they load ok, and i can create a new document but if i open or save from the file menu, no open/save window appears. The options in the logic drop down menus are grayed out (including quit) as though the dialog box is open somewhere but not visible. if i drag the main window to one side nothing is there and i cant quit unless I force quit the app. i've moved to different spaces but the dialog box isnt anywhere to be seen. Anyone got any ideas? thanks, dren.

This has been sooooooo annoying!! I decided to revert to tiger as I would much prefer to have logic working than the extra features in leopard

  • Folders In Mail Disappeared after Leopard Boot

I downloaded Leopard to my wife's computer, and her mail, internet settings (including bookmarks) are all intact, however, I had to download twice to my MBP before it went through, now my bookmarks are gone, and folders I had created in mail are gone as well. If I search through spotlight, I can find the old messages in those folders, however, I can't seem to find their path as if they didn't exist. Please, can anyone help me restore my mail folders?

Did you try clicking on the "on my computer" arrow in Mail? It starts up with that arrow closed, if you click it and open it you might see folders there you had previously had on your computer in the old Mail app. I did this and found all my old stuff...

  • Shared Windows PCs in my LAN disappeared after Leopard upgrade

Since I upgraded my MacBook to Leopard, I cannot see the Windows PCs in my LAN. Actually, sometimes I see some of them, sometimes none. And even when I see them, I'm not able to access the shared folders I was used to access under Tiger.
I used to see "Workgroup" and "Mygroup". No more.
I can see Macs with no problems instead.
Anyone experienced the same problem? Any suggestions?
    Thanks.
