Imovie export for fullscreen use on ipad

I'm trying to produce an imovie '09 movie for use exclusively on an IPAD using full screen mode (as opposed to letterbox). All the backgrounds in imovie are designed for widescreen and ken burns effects cannot be used without imovie forcing the cropping of the photo. (i.e., I can't use ken burns for anything other than widescreen. In addition, even though cropped photo's appear ok in the imovie preview and when displayed on the mac, they are cropped even further on the IPAD.
Is there a thread or some other resource that someone can refer to me so that I can get cropping to work for the IPAD display.

My kids used the web search for "cool maths games" and tried to load a game. The page went to the game but did not load . It said " if this flash game does not work on you computer go HERE for help" it took us to another page with instructions to upgrade flash and there was another hyperlink
That I went ADOBE FLASH PLAYER site and it said that iPad does not support flash, but there was an advertisement under it saying it works on iPad. I clicked on that and downloaded the adobe app

    Hello ctb4408,
With iMessage, it is meant to show up on all your iOS devices and Mac. If you do not want them to go across all your devices, then you will need to turn off iMessage on your iPad and Mac Pro.

  • Need ideas on best ways to convert files for best use on iPad

    Greetings,
As a tech geek that now has an iPad, I am looking for ways to improve the way I perform daily work functions through using the iPad vice a laptop. I am a regional service manager, and as such spend a lot of time on the road. I am hoping the iPad can make that travel easier.
I've already purchased programs such as Documents to Go, Print Central, Keynote, and PDF Expert. I even looked at ServiceMax.
Here is my issue. Currently, our service reports, inspection checklists, and parts ordering forms are all part of one ugly excel file that is 1MB in size and loaded with complicated formulas and macros. I know, having read some in these forums that the macros don't convert well, if at all. I also see that some PDF forms have issues.
ServiceMax was ideal, but it only interfaces with Salesforce.com and not Oracle, which is what we use.
Does anyone have a suggestion for a similar APP to ServiceMax, or an app/program that will allow me to custom create service reports that I and my team can utilize?
    Thanks in advance!

  • Exporting for DVDSP2 using FCPHD4.5?

    Hi,
What's the "best" method for exporting from FCPHD 4.5 use in DVDSP2? I've searched the forums and I've a seen a few different answers (a lot of which were suggestions for FCP5 / DVDSP4).
I have a 99 minute movie that I'm exporting at "current settings" from FCP. I end up with a 21GB file that works fine in iDVD5 - but will not fit onto a standard DVD-R using DVDSP2 (comes out to 8.7 GB in DVDSP's meter). iDVD also produces a final print that we're quite happy with.
I'm planning to upgrade to FC Studio before the end of the year - but until then - any suggestions, techniques, tips would be greatly appreciated. Or, simply tell me where I'm going wrong.
    Thanks gang-

    Craig,
While I'm no expert I can tell you what I have experienced. I prefer, and have been suggested to, export from FCPHD using Compressor. Of course I always go with high quality output. I just used this method with a 98 minute movie late last week and used the 90 minute HQ compression default in Compressor and the accompanying audio compression. After about 20 hours of compression I ended up with a movie that was 3.42GB and audio that was 1.05GB. However, when I put them in the DVDSP Project the resulting track containing them is 4.9 GB, still too long (my total project comes out to 5.1GB). My suggestion is to use Compressor, but not to use the 90 minute HQ setting. I'm not sure the best way from there I would say that you should use the bit rate calculator at this site: http://www.wiredinc.com/bitrate.html and customize your settings, or if you're not comfortable with that use either the 90 minute fast encode, or 120 HQ encode, but I do not know if the results will be good enough for yoru liking.
Hope that helps at least a little. I don't want to to waste 20 hours like I did! good luck!

  • Export for Web using optimized for "download" or "streaming"?

    Hi,
Exporting for Web have some setting there,i'll choosing the .mov - H264 - and medium low quality - 15 Frame Rate - Checked Frame Reordering, others Automatic and the Audio will be 32.000hz and Mono.
Now,what about the optimizing? Download or Streaming?
What about Self-Contained Movie? do i need it?

optimizing for download or streaming depends on what sort of site you're sharing it on. Will it be streamed or a download file?
It must be self-contained, unless you are going to be streaming it, and hosting it from the machine that the original media is on. Even then I'm not sure that would work reliably.

  • How to set up a HP1102w for wireless use with iPad/Iphone etc

    Hi,
I purchased the HP P1102w last year and it's certainly not out of the box Airprint compatible, in fact it is very fiddly, but the following takes about 10 minutes using a mac. The besuty of this is it works with my BT homehub also and probably any wireless router including Airport Express and Extreme and no need to have your printer sat near the router or use the USB cable. My iPad3, Wife's iPad2 and both iPhone 4's work beautifully too.
I spent several hours before discovering this solution and eventually sorted all of this out using the following:
Firstly you will need to go to the HP Support site and download the HP Driver Software for OS 10.7 Here:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=bi-80684-5 &cc=uk&dlc=en&lc=en&os=219&product=4110396&sw_lang=
Once this has been installed to the HP 1102w using the USB, you then disconnect the printer from the USB and using your MAC connect to it using Network Connections (Click on the Wireless Icon in the task bar). The printer should be listed here under 'devices', (Note this will disconnect you from the internet!!!).
Once you are connected directly and wirelessly to the printer the blue light should stop flashing and remain constantly blue!!!
At this point go and make a cup of tea or leave the printer for about 3 -5 minutes before the next step to allow the printer to initiaite and provide and IP Address.
Next stage is to print a 'Self Test / Device Configuration' sheet from the printer. Do this by holding the red X button until the green light flashes on the printer (About 10 secs), when you release the printer should print a page with two columns on. The right hand column should state an IP Address. (if the printer is 'not connected' or 'initiating' try again in a few minutes. If the IP Address is 0.0.0.0 then the printer is not connected and recheck the blue light is not flashing (it should be permanently lit).
Now you have the IP Address, open safari and type in the IP Address eg.... 192.254.1.87 with no http or www. just the plain IP Address.
This should then open the control pages for the HP Printer Set up. These are green and white web pages.
Go to the Networking Tab (Nearly there, promise)....  Click on 'Wireless' on the left hand menu and then in the new page that opens do the following:
    Change from 'AdHoc' to 'Infrastructure'
In the next section 'Network Name (SSID)' - the name will be the HP name.... in the available network box select your home network and then press the little box that looks like this --  [<<]..... this should then change the 'current network name (SSID) to your home network (If your network is not listed just use the refresh button).
Last stage is to change the 'Authentification'
Change this to WPA/WPA2 (or other if your router is set otherwise) and in the 'passphrase' box enter the security password for your router and then finally save the changes....
After this all you then need to do is go to settings on your Mac - Printer and Faxes and remove the HP 1102w from the list using the - sign. Then click the + button to add a new printer and hey presto you will find the HP1102w with Bonjour.... simply add and then you can print from your Mac, Ipad and Iphone with no further tinkering....
I really hope this helps and you don't get as stressed as I did....
    Happy printing...
    Steve
ps. Why couldn't HP just tell you this!!!!!!

  • Storing imovie projects for re-use

    Hi there,
Could anyone tell me the best way to store my imove 06 projects so that in time I can re-use the footage to create and edit movies later?
I have imported my video footage into projects using imovie. Each project only contains footage for the topic. I.e birthday party, concert, holiday e.t.c.
My question is what is the best way to store these projects so I can use them later to make movies through idvd? My hard drive is filling up.
I am new to a mac computer so if possible could you use an easy description.

You can but they don't compress a lot.
I just did a ~210MB file and it compressed down to ~170MB.
In the Finder, go to the file, right click - *Create archive*.
You can also burn these to a data DVD.

  • Problems Exporting for Podcast Use

I've been doing some podcasting using iMovie HD and iWeb. some of them have been going fine. however, i've had a few where the video freezes (after export) but the audio keeps going. no matter how many times i export it or try different formats, they always freeze in the exact same place. can somebody help explain this to me and how i can fix it?

I have the same problem. The podcast created from iMovie freezes like 20 seconds into the run and the audio keeps going.

  • Exporting for web use

I know this seems remedial, but when I've exported QT files for the web (using the available export options) I have had problems viewing it on a computer other than my Mac. When viewing on my PC, for example, it opens QT and says something about not being able to locate whatever it needs and it can't find it on the QT server. It sometimes plays the audio over a black screen. Does this sound familiar?
I have a client wanting the project I did for them available for use on a website. Honestly, it's a little embarassing that I don't know how to do it properly yet. =) Thanks for any tips!
    G5 dual 1.8   Mac OS X (10.3.9)   FCP4.5 (5.1 on the way!)

Gee ... it would have been nice if you included what codec and settings you used for the export. For example, if you exported as H.264, only those with QT 7 installed would be able to play the file. But without knowing what you did, any suggestion would be just a guess.

  • Faster exports for BluRay: Use .avi or mp4?

    Hello,
I have digitized about 20 movies to .avi files.  In total, the are about 300GB.  My goal is to use Premier to create a movie with these files and to insert chapter markers to separate them.  Next, export the movie to Encore to build an H265 BluRay disk with the chapters.  I've found that the rendering time is off the charts...  Would it be better for me to convert the .AVI files to .MP4 and use them in the movie?  My thought is that the compressed format will reduce the time it takes to export to Encore and for Encore to build the BluRay disk.  If this idea is a good one, will there be much loss in quality?  I am using Adobe Cloud versions of the applications...
Thank you for your time and advice,
    Mike

How, and exactly what is inside your avi files?
Report back with the codec details of your file, use the programs below... A screen shot works well to SHOW people what you are doing

  • Export for DVD using toast

I am using Final Cut 6. I have 6 projects that I want to put on continual loop. They were all the same settings when imported to final cut and exported exactly the same. Only four out the 6 would work in Toast although could play them out of toast.
I then used Imovie to export the other two. They are all at 1920 x 1440 but when put into toast it is changing the 4 to 1440 x 1080. Any ideaS?

I suppose you are working with HDV?
    It is 1920x1080 anamorphic(1440x1080).
So Toast just shows native dimension.
If Toast shows 16:9 aspect movie on preview, that's fine.
At least my Toast 10 is recognizing movie correctly.

  • How can I get the apps that I paid for on iTunes and the app store I don't have a computer I paid for them using my ipad and everytime I try to redownload them it asks for my card number and when I put the number in it tells me that the number is not a wo

Ok can anyone tell how I can get the apps that I paid for on iTunes and the app store using my I pad because I don't have a computer and when I try to redownload the apps it keeps asking me for my card number and when I give it my card info it says that it's an invalid number when I know that it's not

If you are getting an 'invalid security code' message then is the address on your iTunes account exactly the same (format and spacing etc) as on your credit card bill : http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1646 ? If it is then you could try what it says at the bottom of that page :
If the issue persists, contact your credit card company and verify that they and any company they use to process credit card authorizations have the correct information on file.
And/or try contacting iTunes support : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Express Lane, then iTunes > iTunes Store

  • Outside of zoom, is there a way to make the text under icons larger for elderly use of iPad?

We gave my mom an ipad mini, but the text under the icons is barely readable for the elderly.  The accessibility options increase the size of contacts, email, etc, and the zoom gives an option to increase, but that is not user friendly for the elderly - 3 finger tap on/off??? Really????  For a senior with arthritis?
Does anyone know a way to increase the size of the text of the icons on the ipad?
    Thanks for any insights.

Try After Effects, it's perfect for keying stroke and all text characteristics.
    Here's an example

  • I'm going to Europe and will have my iPad along, any tips on the best plans for Internet use etc?

Any tips for international use with iPad?

Since storage space is not a limiting factor for you, you might want to take a look at Apple Lossless. Lossless will give you the equivalent audio quality of an uncompressed format such as WAV or AIFF with about a 30% decrease in file size compared to the uncompressed formats. Keep in mind that if you have an iPod, these Lossless fies will severely decrease your iPod capacity. For instance, a 30GB iPod importing the avg. 4 minute song in Lossless will only hold about 1150 songs.
Personally, I use AAC @ 256 which I find comes pretty darn close to the original CD quality with a large decrease in file size. I have a 60GB iPod, so I was willing to sacrifice some iPod capacity for the improved audio quality.

  • OSX Lion and exporting for iPhone

There was a thread about how when trying to set and/or publish for iPhone or edit its settings, Flash CS5 immediately crashes. The problem has been experienced by many Mac OSX Lion users and they talked about it in this unresolved thread: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/888198#3851750 but still no updates from Adobe. Adobe sent me a response to my Support ticket that "it's an Actionscript 3 coding issue" then closed it so I couldn't reply. Ummmm, NO it isn't a coding issue, I tried to export an FLA file with no code in it. That's a really bad way to do business, Adobe. But since they're not going to be helpful (and probably lose me as a customer) has anyone else found a workaround for this?

    ccroo wrote:
The aspect ratio of the iphone screen is 480 x 320, but that size is not an option when exporting for iPhone using Compressor. You have to use a custom setting.
    Why is this the case?
You have to understand that the Apple-provided presets are good launching points, not end-all, be-all settings.
And iPhones do support material encoded as 640 pixels wide so the preset for VGA (up to 640x480) works fine for most people. I personally rarely use anything smaller than the VGA setting for Apple Devices as I find that's the perfect middle ground for iPods, iPhones and AppleTV.
If you (understandably) need to limit your file and frame sizes, adjusting the device setting in Compressor to iPhone (Local/WiFi) does the trick - fitting your movie into a 480 pixel-wide frame size and capping the video data rate at 1000 Kbps.
Letterboxing - as in hard mattes - is not needed when encoding for Apple Devices. In fact, if you have letterboxing in your source media, use the Geometry pane to crop out the Letterbox Area of Source. That will provide you with a better quality encode and the preset will know to adjust your output frame size, so you need not worry about distorting your movie.
