IMovie file to Quick Time

I just got done editing my video podcast using iMovie. Does anyone know how to change the file from an iMovie file, to a Quick Time file? I have tried
Open document with...
Quick Time was not listed.
Changing the ending to .mov
This made a folder, of all the elements of the vid. podcast. Audio, visuals.ect.
Can anyone help me.
P.S. I do not have iLife 06.

In iMovie:
Go to the File Menu and select Share...
Select the Quicktime Tab and Compress Movie for: Expert Settings
Under the Export drop down menu, select: Movie to iPod (320x240)
It will save it as a file with the extension .m4v
You can also select other Quicktime and MPEG-4 formats to export it too, but the Movie to iPod setting is the easiest one to do.

You need to explin your workflow better.
The "Save" action may be initiated by a "Share" or "Export" option depending on the app you are using. For instance, QT 7 Pro has "Save", "Save As...", "Share...", "Export...", and "Export for Web..." options depending on what you are specificly trying to do. On the other hand, QT X may have "Duplicate", "Export...", Export To", and/or "Share" options for various goals.
Are you trying to record a new audio file using a mic, extract and save an audio track from a video, export audio from a video file, save an internet audio file that opened in the QT player, save an online audio file, etc?

The Windows Media codec you are using is running in the "demo" mode. To export full clips you must purchase or upgrade to one of the export capable codec components like those included in the "Studio" or "Studio Pro HD" software package.

My MacBook Pro has run out of space. Now I want to "Move" all of my iMovie files to my newly purchased Time Capsule. (Guy in store said wouldn't be a problem)
I already have proceeded with the standaard Time mashine backedup (Which took ages even through cable)
and now I want to move stuff.
So I have iMovie 09; Mac OS X 10.6.8; and a new 2T Time Capsule
(and why is Time Capsule showing up as "Data" with yellow triangle in iMovie under Hard Disks)

Guy in store was wrong, or there was a misunderstanding

Because iMovie won't work with files on a network -- it would be excruciatingly slow.
You need an external HD; or a larger internal HD; or to move some other stuff elsewhere.
Besides, if you have your backups on your Time Capsule, you don't want to put other stuff there anyway. First, how will you back up that other stuff? Second, mixing TM backups and other stuff on the TC will cause conflicts. See #Q3 in Using Time Machine with a Time Capsule for an explanation and some possible workarounds.

File type/quick time movie file

My iTunes library used to have a preponderance of mp3 files. Now these seem to have been converted to Quick Time movie files. This might have occurred during an update. What happened and what does it mean.

That's my site, and I switched the IP address about four hours ago, and the DNS is probably still pointing to the wrong address. For some reason, the ".com" address changed over really fast (at Comcast anyway), but the ".org" one didn't.

Just copy and paste that into the Script Editor in your AppleScript folder in Applications. Save it as an application. Then find one of the files that's giving you problems and drag it onto the application. It should change the type and creator and iTunes should be happy.
In order to avoid this in the future, just download the MP3s directly onto your hard drive by control-clicking or right-clicking on the link to the MP3. Choose the menu item that downloads to disk. In Safair, it's "Download Linked File". That avoids the QuickTime Browser plugin, which is what gives it a type of "MPEG" and creator of "TVOD" instead of "MPG3" and creator of "hook", which is what iTunes is happiest with.
Let me know if any of this wasn't clear, and I'll try to explain it better...

In older versions of Quicktime (same as todays version) you set the in and out points by positioning the playhead (i beam part of the controller) to the location in the controller timeline to set the point you want to remove or edit.
Shift drag (right or left) to make a selection and use the menu items.
To fine tune your selection us the shift right/left arrow keys.

MPEG MPG file formats & quick time player

i am new to macbook n my Q is about the MPEG & MPG file formats every time i try to play them using quick time i just have a msg telling me that i cant do so and that quick time played cant open the file. so is there any other program that i can use for mac that can play suck files ??

Try installing flip4mac for QT. If that doesn't help you can use VLC. It is a nice program.

Importing MPEG1 Muxed format into iMovie HD or Quick time (PRO?)

My SONY T 30 Point and Shoot records Video and audio ok, but I can't get the audio to import into iMovie HD.
Will the PRO version of Quick Time help? Any suggestions on other workarounds?
The audio plays through the camera (tinny but audible) and works ok plugged into a TV. But no audio shows upo in iMovie HD or QuickTime.

Welcome to the forums.
Take a look at MPEG Streamclip and see if it can convert your MPEG1 into DV Stream (which iMovie likes). It's free and I've found it to be very useful (but haven't used it for your challenge).
