Imovie frame in to JPEG conversion

How can i convert one frame from IMOVIE to a JPEG format and save it in iphoto?

Yes.
First, get an app called MPEG Streamclip, which is free. (google MPEG Streamclip from Squared 5)
Open MPEG Streamclip.
In iMovie, select the clip you need. Then, right-click/Reveal in Finder.
Drag this clip into MPEG Streamclip
In MPEG Streamclip, move the playhead to the frame you want.
In MPEG Streamclip, click FILE/EXPORT FRAME.
Choose JPEG, TIFF, or PNG and give it a name.
You can then drag this photo into iPhoto.
Here is a video I made that steps through this...

  • JPEG conversion for printing

    Hi All
I teach a photography class at a local college where the students have to submit assignments regularly. Our requirements are that they hand in a print and an unedited RAW file. Because we are focusing on their photographic technique, they aren't allowed to edit the photos at all.
They then print the photos at local photo labs (fuji fronteir machines) but the printing results are inconsistent and sometimes shocking.
to cust down on possible workflow problems, I have advised them to build a relationship with their printer, use calibrated monitors (which we have at the college), etc. etc. However, I am starting to suspect that the problem lies with the RAW to JPEG conversion and possible the color spaces they are using. Most of them shoot in Adobe RGB and use that in their computer workspace.
So far I have told them to make sure that they convert the files to sRGB before printing - to save the RAW as a PSD file and convert it to a JPEG using image processor with the "convert to sRGB" option turned on.
I am now at a point when I am going to arrange a workshop so I would love any help or advice that you may have.
I look forward to all the great suggestions I know I am going to get.
    Regards
    David Ceruti

    Correct.
The Fuji Frontier printer won’t do any gamut conversion.
It just prints "by the numbers", expecting sRGB.
    To put it simple.

It is fairly impossible to print from an un-interpreted / unedited Raw file. Editing is the name of the game. Sounds as if the students were shooting Raw + JPG (nothing wrong with this). Only the JPG will be subject to the in-camera setting to Abobe RGB. Should be converted to sRGB before giving it to the Fuji Frontier. If it is really Raw + JPG shooting, it may be easier to set the camera to sRGB. Nothing lost here, because you always have the Raw file to resort to in ACR.

  • Seeking solution for RAW to jpeg conversion on 1TB disk[s] of images

    Please read fully
    Greetings,
I have a bit of a dilemma as most might have as well. I have about
3.5TB of RAW images in various directories and seeking an automated
way to convert RAW to jpeg on numerous directories...and go get a
coffee while the process is working (maybe have a nap or two lol)
For many months I have searched for a solution that takes the source
disk (yes disk and not directory by directory) and implements a NEF to
jpeg conversion placing the destination directory on another hard
drive or a separate directory keeping the same source directory
structure. So at the end of the day I would have full sized jpegs and
PSD's in the same directory structure as the source. That make sense?
I have been in other forums and asked but the solutions were using the
typical Photoshop solutions and it does not make a dupe directory
    structure as the source.
    Any solutions? Ideas?
    Thanks,
    D.S. Hathaway

This is what I'm trying to do. It seems the Image Processor does not handle multiple directories at once.

    2345_ball_images

    1234_flag1.nef

    1234_flag3.nef
WIP <---directory Work in Progress contains
    1234_flag1.psd
    1234_flag1.jpg
What I am seeking is the above source to be converted to jpeg and
placed onto another dirve/folder/directory with the SAME directory
    tree. It should look like:
    Another Drive/folder/directory etc (destination)
    |
    |
    1234_flag_images
    2345_ball_images
    3456_table_images
    etc
    In the directory 1234_flag_images contains
    1234_flag1.jpg
    1234_flag2.jpg
    1234_flag3.jpg
WIP <---directory Work in Progress contains
    1234_flag1.psd
    1234_flag1.jpg
    Make sense?
Isn't there anything out there to handle multiple
(read 100s) of folders/directories and make a conversion as stated
    above?
    Thanks again,

  • Will the latest version of imovie 08 accept "motion jpeg"

will the latest version of imovie 08 accept "motion jpeg" files for editing?

If the files are on you computer you could use quicktime to convert them to DV or mpeg4/AVC to use with im08 if they are on camera you could import them using im6 (free from the  website for owners of im08) and either edit them in im6 or export them as DV or mpeg4/AVC to use in im08.

  • Saving a frame to a jpeg file

I saw some previous questions with no solution on this topic and wonder if anyone has found the method? iMovie help is silent on this topic. I ended up using iMovie HD, but surely there is a method for the new program?

There's an application on your Mac called Grab (Applications>Utilities). You can use this to grab stills from your video. I prefer to use a short-cut method though - hold down together the Command>Shift>4 keys and the cursor changes to a cross-hair. Drag from one corner diagonally to the other - when the mouse button is released a still (.png format)will be saved to your Desktop.
It's best to do this in Full-screen mode. It's also easier if you set the full-screen preference to "Actual Size" rather than "Entire Screen" unless you want a really high resolution picture. In iMovie's menu go to iMovie>Preferences and adjust the setting for "Full-screen playback" there.
I get excellent results using this process - as good as I was getting (or better) than jpegs generated from iMovie '09. I fine tune the stills in iPhoto.

  • Imovie frame speed adjustment for stop motion

Now I'm on imovie 10.0.6, I can't seem to get the software to let me adjust my frame speed.
I'm working with stills, that I want to edit into a stop motion piece for some of the film, and show other images as stills for other sections.
The speed editor is greyed out, as is the FF option. Also, the duration is showing in seconds, where as in old imovie i would go into the preferences to show frames per second.
Any one overcome this issue and can help how I get the functionality I need?
    thanks

your workflow is - sorry to say that - a bit ... inconvenient
the usual workflow is: record using some plain green or blue background, create matte/key new background in, color-process video.
'matting by hand' skips 50 years of video-processing ...
you can accomplish that with iMovie, Motion or FCPX. iM and FCPX come with a bundle of 'presets' which allow similar coloring/contrasting/de-saturation as pixlr. FCPX for sure allows much more, in detail manual manipulations of color, although the 'video' tab in iMovie11 offers enough 'knobs' to create the few looks pixlr offers. Motion wouldn't be my first choice, as the app's name implies, it is basicly not meant for such simple color-corrections.

  • Automate RAW to JPEG conversions

Does anyone know of an easy/simple way to automate RAW conversions to jpeg?
When I setup an action, it stalls on the RAW file open command and I cannot seem to automate this step.
I have looked at 3rd party s/w like Irfanview but the output quality seems poor.
Any tips from anyone gladly received.
    Thanks.

When converting from RAW, can you setup a set of default RAW editor settings that will be applied to each file conversion?
You can address RAW settings two way.   You can set default ACR settings for each of your cameras.  Open a RAW file from one of your Cameras. Use the Camera profile tab in the ACR Dialog and try out the profiles Adobe supplied for your camera.  When you find the one you like best set that one in the profile tab. Then use the other tabs and make the adjustments you would like to see as your defaults.  When you like what you have set. Set this setup as your cameras default.  Repeat this process using Raw files from you other cameras.
Now you cam also set RAW settings for you RAW files without creatine any image files for groups of raw files.  IMO the best way to do this is from the Bridge. The bridge shows you thumbnails of your RAW files and I beleive adjust them under its covers by using ACR and you default settings for RAW files without saved ACR settings. What I do in the Bridge is select thumbnails without saved settings in groups that seeem to have simular exposures and open this group in ACR. One I have all the image in ACR I'll adjust one of them and then sync the rest setting to the setting  I just made to the one. Then if some of the thumbnails look like the need a crop I set crop for those one at a time. Finially I'll click on ACR done button. ACR will then record setting for each RAW file either in Sidecar files or in the ACR database.
When you use an Image Processor Photoshop  script to process your RAW files into RGB Image files the saved ACR settings will be used for those files that have settings and your default settings settings for files that don't have saved settings.

  • Saving a freeze frame as a jpeg?

I've done this in the past when I was on FCP3, now I've upgrade to 6 and it's a little different. All of my options are OfflineRT HD, NTSC and PAL. It says Photo JPEG but just saves it as a .mov. How do do this?

Use Export as Quictime Conversion and select still image. You can set the prefence for JPEG

  • AME adding frames upon P2 footage conversion

I currently use AME to convert raw P2 footage into a more manageable .mov file type. As I am archiving old Premiere Pro files, I am going back and replacing the P2 footage with the new converted .mov footage (to shrink down project file size). Occasionally and on a random basis, the converted .mov files will have extra frames added to the front end. It will be anywhere between 2 & 20 frames. (Usually this is done by folders- for example if I have a folder named cat video, all clips in that folder will have 10 frames added at the front end while the dog video folder clips might have 15 frames added.) This adds time to my archiving as instead of just replacing the footage in P. Pro, I have to import the new footage, find out where the cuts are supposed to be at and then put the .mov file into the sequence before delete the raw P2 file. Is there a reason AME adds frames at random?

If you are trying to export and maintain the same quality you have in the timeline then you don't need to use conversion. Just export to Quick Time Movie and check the box for Use Current Settings and Make Self Contained.

look up the JAI (Java Advanced Imaging), once you load a file, you can save it back as any type that is supported--including JPEG.

  • .mov to jpeg conversion

I want to convert an hour and a half of .mov footage to JPEGs, but QT will only allow me to convert 65554 frames and then it starts from 1 again. I don't know why it will not let me convert as many frames as I want I have QT Pro so I am not sure how to make it do what I want?

If in the best case your video is in PAL format then 25fps for an hour-and-a-half movie would result in 135,000 frames or JPEG images. For NTSC at 30fps it would be even worse resulting in 162,000 frames/JPEGs.
What on earth do you want/need with so many JPEGs? Even if it could be done the Finder on your Mac would probably die trying to open or manipulate a folder with so many files in it.
If as you indicate QuickTime has a limit it is imposing of 65554 frames, then a workaround would be to split the movie in to three parts, and do each third separately.

  • IMovie Frame Rate Troubles

I am trying to make a montage video. I've imported a YouTube video through QuickTime into iMovie and changed the frame rate so the clip matches the project. But the video still apears jumpy, anyway I can resolve this?

What are the frame rates of your project and of the YouTube clip?
Keep in mind that if your project is, say 30fps, and you add a clip to is that ist only 15 fps, all iMovie can do is duplicate frames so that there are 30 per second.
In other words it can't create intermediate frames that don't exist and the clip will appear jumpy.

  • Dropping Frames with Motion JPEGA Quicktime Files ...720X486

    Hi All,
Some help if anyone knows. Heres my setup, Desktop G5 Dual 2.3 with 1 gig of Ram. I'm working with Quicktime media: Motion JPEGA Quicktime generated out of a Discreet Smoke NLE System. Whats happening is I'll start to play a relatively short clip, 30 seconds, and it will give me the dropped frame
    warning.
First thing, is 1 GIG of Ram sufficient for these files? Or is this some kind
of preference setting? I did notice that the QT files had audio at 32 Bit
where the sequence settings only allow you to go to 16.
    Any responses appreciated
    thanks
