Imovie freezes up even after rebooting

I have a 4 month old imac, toay I tried to use imovie for the first time and discovered that
it is not working.  It freezes and will not respond even after rebooting. There was a message
telling me that it was currently downloading my movies, but the download never progressed
and I had to force quit to leave imovie.

Linda,
I'm not sure what is going on, have you tried posting to the iMovie forum to ask?

Please try to install the software with a new administrator account. A new local administrative account can rule out network policies, corrupt profiles, and incorrectly setup administrative accounts: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/create-user-account#create-user-account=windows -7

So your charger works on another device just not on your ipad?

  • Flash doesn't work - at all. Not even after reboot.

Flash plugin crashes the Plugin-container.exe process, causing Firefox to "hang." Flash and Firefox are up-to-date (as of minutes ago) and hardware acceleration has been enabled/disabled to no avail. There are multiple instances of plugin-container (all of which must be force-quit) and even after reloading a page flash won't work, instead freezing up firefox.
What can I do next to figure out why this is happening and stop it?

That was the first thing I did, but it seems a new update has been released since I first posted. Thank you.

  • Fresh install won't start - says it's already running even after reboot

I've installed Firefox for the first time on this Windows 2008 machine.
The installer quit complaining that Firefox was already in use. I've rebooted twice, and attempted to delete the parent.lock file, and it still won't open.
I can't delete the parent.lock file as it's in use, even after a reboot.
Anyone got any ideas how I fix this?

    edit
I missed the post above. Partly no doubt the annoying lag on forum listings updates.
Is the entry in the ''profiles.ini'' file sane and does it point at a location that has suitable read and write permissions. I am of course assuming if you rename ''profiles.ini'' in its current location that Firefox does recreate it.
    * http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profiles.ini_file
Presumably after you delete or rename the profile folder Firefox does manage to recreate and populate the profile.
If this is not happening do a clean reinstall of Firefox again, deleting all the Firefox program folders and files prior to the install.

  • Won't wake up even after rebooting

i have a mocbook pro 2.5GHz core 2 duo run on OS 10.5.8
i put it to sleep by closing the lid and it won't wake up
    even i rebooted it.
can hear DVD drive and hard drive running, black screen, no power on USB drives, caps lock light never light up.
put os reinstall disk to the optical drive, disk is spinning but nothing happen.
    any idea?

Part of this time may involve attempting to read a damaged sleep image file, bewlatbrutha.
You should note, too that the batteries in these computers have a built in microprocessor of their own to try to prevent them from being damaged by discharging too deeply. If you discharge to the point where even the battery's own processor has to shut down you may never be able to resurrect your battery without outside help (and sometimes not even then). Almost all Lithium Polymer and Lithium Ion batteries (regardless of what they are fitted to) have this sort of protection. The battery has to have a certain minimum charge at all time to keep its own processor running.
Even without reaching this point it is not good for Lithium batteries to be regularly discharged to the point where the computer has to sleep or shut down. You risk severely shortened battery life if you do this regularly.

  • Windows 7 64bit freezing in normal mode even after rebooting to Factory Mode?

Hey guys, my Windows 7 64 bit laptop recently began permanently freezing after a few minutes
after logging into normal mode, ultimately forcing me to turn the laptop off with the power button.
It only works in safe mode :(
Ive tried restoring to an earlier date and i even rebooted to factory mode TWICE. When i booted it
to factory mode, it would work normally for about a day and then permanently freeze again for good.
I have heard that maybe this may be a cause of the newest Windows 7 update or maybe something
wrong with my BIOS...? It worked perfectly until recently. I have 2 red flags in the action center:
    1. "Turn on Windows Security Center service (important)"
    2. "Windows will install updates as scheduled (important)"
I kept having to postpone the update message over and over and then when i left the comp idle for a while,it crashed and froze AGAIN. Can anyone help me?
I have college finals due soon and desperately need my computer functioning :(

  • Why does my Ipad screen keep freezing even after rebooting

My ipad screen keeps freezing and remains stuck. So in the last hour this has happened 3 times after hard "reboots". Can someone explain whats going on? Uwas not downloading anything ..only looking at Facebook.

    Hello, Nina1711.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
Try closing all open applications in multitasking and power cycling the device.  Test the responsiveness of the iPad after processing these steps.  If the issue persists, check to make sure you have space available on the iPad in Settings/General/About.  If there is no space available you may want to remove unwanted Apps or media as this can cause the unit to become unresponsive.  If these steps have been processed with the issue persisting, you will need to restore the device.  Make sure to backup the device prior to restoring.

  • Safari will not open, even after reboot

I have been having all sorts of problems with my iMac since installing Mavericks (Gmail integration was freezing everything, Maps just didn't work).
The latest is that Safari just will not open, period. I have rebooted several times and even reinstalled OS X via the Cmd+R on reboot, nothing. It hangs upon opening and needs a Force Quit. When restarting again, it asks if you want to reopen windows and it makes no difference if you say Yes or No.
Any ideas on what to do?

    Try deleting the com.apple.Safari.plist
    Quit the application.
Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J.  When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder.  Select Preferences/com.apple.Safari.plist. Move the .plist to your desktop.
Open the application and test. If it works okay, delete the plist from the desktop.
If the application is the same, return the .plist to where you got it from, overwriting the newer ones.
Thanks to leonie for some information contained in this.
You might need to redo the View settings after an update.

  • Why does iMovie freeze almost immediately after opening the program?

    Hi there!
iMovie '09 was running fine a few days ago until who knows what happened. Suddenly, each time I open iMovie I immediately cannot open anything when I click on things - ex. Project Library/the scroll icon/etc. The project I'm working on is still in iMovie, and I can see it play in the preview screen on the right hand side. The problem is, I can't see any of the clips I have on the left. They seem to be invisible, but when I pan over the editing area (left hand side) I can see the clips playing in the preview screen. I literally have no idea what happened. I can't edit anything and I can't seem to fix the problem. I can't access anything - can't edit, can't scroll to find the video I want.
So far I have done these things to try and fix the problem:
+Deleted the iMovie and iPhoto preference files: Library > Preferences > com.apple.imovie.plist
+Reboot my computer and reloaded iPhoto and iMovie
+Gone into Disk Utility and ran the Repair Disk Permissions
+Done force quit so many times
+Tried running iMovie without any others apps open
I'm hoping someone out there has a few tricks up their sleeve to help with this problem. Additionally, I've seemed to have run into the problem of not being able to play any of the cutaways I have in the video except for the FIRST one. When the video plays and pans over the next cutaway, the video freezes until the cutaway ends and proceeds to play the rest of the video.
So, anyone out there know how to help a gal out??
    Thanks!

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.

  • G5 keeps freezing. Even after we had it "repaired" at the shop.

We have a Dual 2.5 G5. It started freezing and having problems so we took it to the local Apple Authorized Repair Center. They said it was either the logic board or the processor(s). Took them a couple weeks to find a new motherboard and they installed that and said it was fixed.
I get it and take it back to the shop and plug it in. Fans are all running WAY too high (and loud). I figure, oh well, at least it works. Well, then it freezes up the next day. I reboot and it works for a few ours and then freezes. I do the same and it freezes after a couple hours. I turn it off over night and the next day, I turn it on and it runs for a little while and then freezes. I take it back to the shop. The guy says he's run all the tests on it and the software keeps coming back saying everything is fine. He has it for about a month, fails to call and let me know he's "fixed" it so I call and they said its ready to pick up.
The tech sheet said that it runs fine but the fans are running a bit loud.
I get it back and yea, the fans are still running loud but at least it works. WRONG. Couple hours go by and it freezes.
BTW. When it does freeze, then all the fans kick go up slowly to like 100%. Sounds like a jet engine in here when it does that.
So, any ideas? We paid about $500 for the new logic board and installation.

If the shop is in any way reliable, they should take it back and work on it again. They have to stand behind there work.
As far as power goes, I doubt it seriously.

  • App downloads frozen on "waiting..." even after reboot.

A few days ago I had a download from app store freeze on waiting status. I tried restarting ipad2 and "hard reboot" as stated from some ppl in forums using both home and sleep buttos but still no luck. I tried also downloading other apps which also froze on waiting and even deleting the initial "problematic" app. Still apps are on waiting status a few days now and no reboot helps. Any other suggestions? I use ios 5

    Thank you for your replies.
    @marianfromspringwood, yes I am on a wi-fi, I don't own the 3G version
@desmond 31, clicking on the app doesn't bring anything up. I can only delete it but that doesn't solve the problem.
I also found out that I have podcasts stuck also on downloading state and won't go further. Those I can not delete.
@abilash432 I think that's what I'm going to do. Sounds Like a way to go for PCs and a device as simple as an iPad should not have problems like that.
@diavonex, I did connect it with iTunes on my putter but I don't see how I can complete the downloads there. Any more info on that?

  • I upgraded to Firefox 4.01 but it keeps asking me to reboot whenever i want to launch the program even after rebooting for at least 7 times

I have rebooted the system many times but I am not able to launch Mozilla F. 4.01. After upgrading it, I cant even redownload it or go back to the older version: it keeps asking me to reboot the system everytime I try to launch. Please HELP! I highly dislike IE! besides I got all my bookmarks with Firefox.

You can do a clean (re-)install:
    * Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.
    * Firefox 4.0.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html
    * Uninstall your current Firefox version and remove the Firefox program folder before installing that copy of the Firefox installer.
    * Do not remove personal data if you uninstall the current version.
    * It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored elsewhere (not in the Firefox program folder) and won't be affected by a reinstall, but make sure that you do not select to remove personal data if you uninstall Firefox.
