IMovie has 'lost' lots of my clips

Just trying to do a compile of old footage & I found heaps of my clips are marked as only being 0.01 in duration. Obviously when I try to play them nothing happens.
Uh-oh I thought, iMovie has somehow trashed the original footage so I looked in the iMovie events folder & the original footage is still there & can be viewed in QuickTime.
So I tried to import one of the clips & it did so no problem & it went back into the event it was supposed to be in.
What gives?
How can it not be seeing the files in its own source folder?
More importantly how can I fix this. Doing a faux import is just out of the question as it woukd takes hours & hours & will probably result in footage being duplicated.

The audio should still be there. Try opening the clip inspector to the audio tab and set the volume slider to 100%.
Also, make sure you don't have the ducking feature in use. That will cause all other clips to be muted while the ducking is on.

My external hard disk recently failed that has all of my video files on. In iMovie08 i had built many projects with the project files on my laptop drive, but the source videos in the external drive.
I have recovered all the data from a backup drive to a new replacement hard drive. However even though i have given the new drive the same drive name, imovie has lost all of the video - so all of the projects are broken, and edit "reveal in finder" fails to locate them. How do i repoint the project events to the new hard disk hence salvaging all of my project work?

Some easy things to try:
iMovie will be looking in the iMovie Events folder in the root directory on your external drive. Is that where your Events are?
More advanced things to try:
You will need to have your Events in the exact same location (and path) that they were before. You can determine what iMovie thinks these should be by opening the Project File (.RCPROJECT) with a text editor such as BBEDIT that handles hexadecimal well.

IMovie on iPhone 4 has lost links to my clips!

I spent hours editing my iMovie on my iPhone 4, showed it to my wife once. Now when I go to the movie on my iPhone it is there, but all the clips have a yellow triangle with "!" inside. The movie plays but is just blank. I checked and all the clips are still in my iPhone. Why would it have lost the links to these clips and can I get them back into the edited movie? I did upgrade to OS 4.2 from 4.1 since I created the movie. Somebody please help me.

I noticed this problem recently as well but it now makes sense that it was probably the recent iOS updates. I built my movie back in the summer and had been playing it for family and friends for awhile until recently I tried to export a high-quality version and the iMovie app alerts me to missing clips. I was dumbfounded to say the least.
I've confirmed that my missing clips are still available on my phone and MORE INTERESTING TO NOTE is that some clips in my movie have been replaced (incorrectly linked) to other video clips in my library that were never part of the original movie. Weird.
Apple, any help here would be appreciated.

I have been making a video using iMovie and when it started everything was fine and as it should be. I have been adding clips to the project and all seemed fine. Some clips get rejected and moved to the trash to clear some space on my hard drive. I have just played the video back and lots of the clips have no audio over them, even though they did when they were imported. The clips that have lost the audio aren't ones that have had parts rejected and I have tried all of the help topics that iMovie has to offer. Can anyone help me work out how I can find these again because these clips are very important. Please help, I'm really not impressed. Thanks

Is it possible that you have moved or renamed any of your Event clips through the Finder? If so, iMovie will not be able to find them. The solution is to move them back and change the name back to the original name.
Also, if the clips are on an external drive, make sure that drive is attached.

TimeLine was lost in iMovie'08 and 09 and a very simple one re-introduced in iMovie'11
Speed Change - Was omitted in iMovie'08 - and returned in iMovie'09 - BUT has to be used in a certain way - the glider/slide if used - will destroy the audio (a Known BUG - in both iM'09 and iM'11) but use of pre-set fixed no. 25% 50% 100% 200% etc. will work.

E5: Ovi Suite has lost connection with your device...

I am trying to update the software on my E5 using OVI suite but I keep getting an error during the install phase (after backup). The following error and instructions are displayed in the OVI suite window but makes no difference when I follow these instructions (just end up back with the same error).
"Nokia Ovi Suite has lost connection with your device. Follow these steps to help reconnect your device:
1. Remove USB cable from your device.
2. Restart the device (turn off and on again).
3. Re-insert the USB cable.
4. Click 'Ok' below to continue updating."

Yep having the same issue. Just got a replacement handset due to the random restarting issue, soon after setting up the new handset I get a message on phone saying software update is available. Both OVI suite and Nokia software updater say version 43.115 is available (about 200mb in size), I currently have the same version as you 42.007. It claims to do a lot of improvements to the handset. The update downloads fine but when it comes to installing I keep getting the same issue. Phone simply will not restart automatically and the update restarts then fails at the same point over and over. Had the same problem with my previous handset.
I spoke with my network provider to see if it was an issue with the handset needing firmware specific to them but they said no it is an issue with the firmware itself and has been happening to everyone since its release!!! They said I should not download it until Nokia has resolved the issues with it. But how do I know when that will happen as I cannot find anything put out by Nokia stating there is an issue or anywhere on web forums saying there is actually a problem.

I exited iMovie and lost my project. I am able to find it in Finder, under the Movies tab, but can not get it back to a project in iMovie. Is there a way to restore it?

Please help! I exited iMovie and lost my project that I've been working on for days... I am able to find it in "Finder" under iMovie Projects... but I am unable to open it as a Project in iMovie. I am using iMovie '11, with no time machine, and I'm on a MacBook Pro.

I fully sympathise with you, as I recently experienced the same issue (as have many others).
Projects always appear as normal in Finder in the Home folder Movies/iMovie Projects (or on an external disk at the top level in Movies/iMovie Projects). Nothing looks untoward there.
However, when iMovie is opened again after an editing session, the most recent project worked on does not appear in the listing of projects in iMovie's Project Library - although it is still listed in the Finder folder . This happens for no apparent reason - no unexpected quits, freezes, or crashes, and nothing else out of the ordinary. iMovie is simply not recognizing the project. It can't even be opened by double-clicking on the project in Finder.

If you purchased Lion for your iMac, just log into the Mac App Store from your MacBook using the Apple ID under which you purchased Lion and go to the Purchases page. You will be able to download and install Lion there.

The only place you get get Lion is from the Mac App Store. If you found some other site, that was an illegal copy and almost certainly tied to someone else's Apple ID and hence unusable by you. If the link was just to the Mac App Store, see above.
As to the problem with synchronization to iCloud, that's not a 10.6 question, so I'd suggest you take up that specific issue in either the Lion or iCloud forums, providing full details, and someone there can probably help you sort things out.

I have taken it back to the Apple store genius bar, but they say they don't see anything wrong. Well unless you use it all day and experience the problems when they happen, you wont see anything wrong. But there are lots wrong with it. But this would be the same store as I purchased the phone. And they backed up my old Iphone 4, but were not able to get anything to load back onto my new phone. So, I lost pretty much everything. But over time, some of my contacts have started showing up, although i am still missing over 800 of them.

TS1392 11.0.2 has lost visibility to Apple TV despite pingable and youtube, trailers playable on Apple TV

Since upgrading to 11.0.2 iTunes my Windows XP PC has lost all viisbility of my Apple TV Gen 1
I have tried all troubleshooting steps and no success. The Apple TV (Gen 1) still have full network access, can get TV or film trailers, search YouTube and pingable on network from router or PC.
ITunes 11.0.2 Just does not see the Apple TV - never appears as a device
The Apple troubleshooting guide needs updating - as there is no longer a Preference -"Look for AppleTV" option in 11.0.2...so thats out of date too.
Tried re-booting the Apple TV twice - still does not appear in iTunes as a device - never discovered ....perplexed....still have all my content on Apple TV but can no loner add to the Music on it or photos etc. Was all fine before going to 11.0.2.......now Apple TV is isolated on its own and not synced to 11.0.2 sicne its never discovered.

May 5th Update : Status
Okay so I decided to risk it and try re-syncing the Apple TV to my Windows XP iTunes 11.0.2 library
Removed the link on Apple TV. to existing Playlist, watched the spinning swirl for 5 minutes...fingrers crossed
Then added the XP computer back again - had new 4 digit code to enter on PC.......magically Apple TV was visible suddenly by iTunes on PC. Entered 4 digit code.....saw the Apple TV as device in left sidebar and could choose which music and photos to SYNC to it. All was good for about 40-45 minutes........Apple TV said it was copying 1410 of 5400 photos on TV screen, the iTunes on PC was "syncing" and similar numbers.
Then it just stopped......Device in PC screen on left sidebar of iTunes disappeared. the TV screen was stuck at 1410 photos...no progress. Oh and now Itunes does know about the Apple TV under edit> preferences....Apple Tv is listed......status as "syncing......except after 36 hours no change...still missing lots and lots of photos.
So despite forcing a new ATV to PC pairing......and working for approx 40 minutes...its stopped "syncing" again. And yet again its pingable, can get Internet. You tube, trailers etc

By all means get iLife but just for the record you don't HAVE to use Apple's photo application;
there are many more around, quite a lot of them free.
