IMovie HD and iTunes and Authorizing tunes when switching computers

ARRRRGH!
I am on my 4th MacBook.
I have loads of iTunes, purchased at the Store.
I want to download a tune onto an iMovie I am making.
It tells me I need to authorize. I do this on iTunes. It tells me I am on my 4th of 5 computers. So I am OK?
BUT IT STILL STOPS ME USING THE SONG!
CAN ANYONE help and tell me what on earth is going on???
Many thanks.

Hi jambobwana - The normal response to your problem is to burn the song onto a disc, and import it into iMovie from there.

should iphone 4 receive messages when turned off and display them when switched back on

It's up to the cellular carrier, but I believe most (if not all) will enqueue the messages when your iPhone is off.
So generally speaking, a few minutes after you turn your iPhone on, your messages should display.  Similarly, your voicemails would arrive.

  • ITunes takes default focus when switching desktops (spaces)

This is more of a pet peeve than anything, but when I am swiping between desktops (spaces), and I return to my primary desktop, iTunes always takes focus.
99% of the time, I have switched from my web browser to mail (which I keep in another space) and when I return to open a new tab in the browser, iTunes preferences opens almost every time (command-T).
I would normally assume, or prefer, that the OS "remember" where I left off when switching spaces, and put me right back there when I switch back.  Is there a way to force this?

    You're totally right.
I've already tried to find the differences, but not accurately enough. I'll do it again.
Also, I've noticed another strange thing : even with my rc.lua broken, I have this issue. I think that with a broken rc.lua the default one is used, so it may not come from my configuration. if it doesn't, I have no idea...
I'll check again the other install and will tell you if I have something (but not before tuesday)
    [Edit]
I've tried with the default rc.lua, and I indeed still have this issue.
For now, I have a workaround : I just add a small titlebar to every window, as if they were floating (cf very end of my rc.lua posted above).
But if someone has any idea to really fix it, I would be happy

  • Codec Problem when switching computers

I am having a problem, where I copy my .fcp and all the videos that are with it, to another computer.
I have a macbook with leopard.
the other computer is a 2ghz core duo imac (the white ones)which has tiger
It says it cant find the codec.
Also, sometimes thef iles arent connected, when i try and reconnect them, it says the times don't match up. Im literally using the same files, nothing is different.
Any help on what to do to switch computers to work on things would be very helpful

DX50 is a DivX format and is not a natively supported codec. the trouble is that the Mac where it plays properly has had a third party codec installed which enables that file type, whereas the other one hasn't
Download and install Perian form http://www.perian.org then see if it doesn't automaigaclly start working

  • Why do the relative values of RGB and CMYK change when switching between Photoshop and InDesign?

I'm trying to put together a Colour Guide for my company's brand guidelines.
I initially worked from InDesign and wrote down all the H, RGB, and CMYK values that I got when I eye-dropped my original colour palette.
However when I put the same RGB values into Photoshop- I am given a (slightly) different set of CMYK numbers from those that I had originally documented in InDesign.
    Why is this???

    Jamie,
in Photoshop go to Edit > Color Settings and choose your  parameters:
For RGB: sRGB or AdobeRGB (1998)
For CMYK: the process as recommended by your printer (person, company)
For offset printing this is here ISOCoated-v2-eci and elsewhere for instance SWOP.
For digital printing you should ask the company as well.
    For Grayscale: Gray Gamma 2.2
For Spot: probably irrelevant in the moment. Dot Gain 20%
    Everything as shown here:
For your application I've modified my settings a little, therefore we can see top left 'unsynchronized'.
In InDesign do practically the same, but there are no settings for Grayscale.
You'll find for any topic explanations if you move to by mouse (position the pointer over ...).
The field 'Settings' shows not 'Custom' but the file name of a configuration which had been previously saved
and then loaded (buttons top right).
Further explanations on request. It would be quite useless to explain everything now at the same time.
The colors will be wrong if the settings are not synchronized. Above they are explicitly synchronized.
Because Bridge was not used, the system considers them as 'not synchronized', which doesn't matter.

  • Lost channel settings in group properties and blending options when switching to or from 16bit

I recently noticed that Channels-settings in both Group Properties and Blending Options are lost when changing a file from 8bit to 16bit and vice versa.
Could someone please verify if the behaviour is the same on their set-up?

I moved it to the enduring forum. According to: http://feedback.photoshop.com/photoshop_family/topics/lost_channel_settings_in_group_prope rties_and_blending_options_when_switching_to_or_from_16bit
the behavior is now correct with CS6.

  • Loss of sound via external devices and odd issues when switching inputs.

When I plug in my headphones via the headphone jack, or my Logitech USB headset thru the USB port (either one), I get no sound coming out.  Going to sysprefs>sound>output and selecting the approporiate device results in no volume control on keyboard and spinning beachball for several seconds.  Unplugging device results in sound repeatedly going "pop, pop, pop" at whatever volume the internal speakers were last set at.
Something is skewed in the audio components but I am not sure what it is and am not sure how to proceed.

Remove that in safe mode using >>Driver Fusion<< and install latest MSI driver: http://www.msi.com/product/vga/N660Ti-PE-2GD5.html#/?div=Driver&os=All

  • Why does my iTunes store keep freezing when switching iTunes stores?

I have an account in both the Canada store and the U.S. store (I buy U.S. iTunes cards for use as some shows do not come to Canada until nearly a year after its U.S. store release). However, and don't ask why I haven't posted about this earlier I noticed for the past month or two when I switch from one to the other, my iTunes freezes completely forcing me to Force Quit it and restart. It will then be in the store I was switching into (from Canada to U.S. or vice versa) but it still had to freeze and be re-opened before I could access it. Is there any reason this might be happening? I feel like it might've happened after the most recent update because it did not used to do this. I have the latest iTunes update 11.1.3 (8).
    Thanks for anyone's help.

  • Nano won't resume tune when turned on again - jumps to next one.

I was under the impression that, if I turned my nano off in the middle of a tune, it would resume playing that tune when switched on again and play is pressed. Mine waits for about 2 seconds and then jumps to the start of the next tune, every time. I am now on my second nano (having got the first one replaced because of this problem) and this one does exactly the same. It only happens if it is off for at least 10 minutes so it is difficult to demonstrate instore (it does resume if turned back on sooner).
I have tried the 5Rs several times and this has made no difference.
Am I expecting too much or is there something wrong here?

Hard Reset – While printer is powered ON, pull the power cord from the printer then from the wall. After 30 seconds reconnect power to wall and printer. This will trigger a ‘dirty power up’ and restore the printer to a known good condition (if it is possible). No user settings are lost with a ‘hard reset’. This ‘Hard Reset’ is one of the most powerful tools to use when the printer hardware is not functioning properly! IF NOT RESOLVED, uninstall hp software & reinstall using latest hp software from hp website.

  • ATV Update causing TV to switch to HDMI input when switched on

I have a Panasonic TX32LXD70 with my ATV connected using HDMI, the TV is set to go to the DVB-T tuner when switched on.
Before the "Take 2" update this worked fine but since upgrading when you turn the TV on it switches to ATV after about 10 seconds even if the ATV is in standby.
Has anyone seen this behaviour and managed to disable it ?
    Thanks, Rob

sounds  more like a tv issue as hdmi does not native support changing the input sources of tvs

It will not do any harm trying it but you are probably correct in these circumstances.
If the symptoms are consistent, then a savvy technician at an Apple store genius bar should be able to define the problem.

  • ITunes for Windows freezes when importing a library. I have a large but not huge library of mostly iTunes purchased music on two authorized computers and would like to sync the files, export the library as a playlist, and import it on the other computer.

I am running iTunes for Windows 10.2.2 on Windows 7 Home. I have my iTunes library on both this computer and another authorized machine running Windows 7 Professional. I have a large but not enormous library, as I'm one of those people who doesn't pirate, use torrents, borrow from a dozen friends, or whatever other shades of gray you might imagine. It's mostly iTunes purchases with my old CD collection imported. I have started using the following technique to sync my libraries between my two authorized computers, an ability which you can probably all agree should one day be added to iTunes -- that would be different from Home Sharing, because the music would be stored locally and thus available on the road. With the added benefit of the entire library being backed up on the other machine in real-time. Anyway, when I switch from my desktop to laptop and vice versa, I use the following technique:
Connect both machines to the home network. One machine is the "Active" machine, which has most recently been used for iTunes media, purchases, ratings, etc.
On the "Active" machine, File-->Library-->Export. Save the file as "Library.xml" on the shared drive of the other machine.
Right-click "Library.xml" where it's been saved, and open another file that has two lines in it: The root path of the iTunes library on one machine and the root path of the iTunes library on the other machine.
Do a find/replace all in Notepad to make the library XML file point to where the files will be saved on the "Inactive" machine.
Run Microsoft SyncToy to synchronize the files between both music libraries; the most recent files win. This avoids copying the entire multi-gigabyte library over the network.
Open iTunes on the "Inactive" machine.
Go to Music, Select All, Delete. Keep files.
Do the same for Movies, Music Videos.
Go down to Playlists, select the top one, hold down the delete button until they're all gone.
File-->Library-->Import Playlist. Choose the "Library.xml" file you saved.
First a status bar comes up that says, "Importing library." It has the continually-scrolling progress bar, not the one that starts on the left and steadily creeps right. Then after about 30 seconds, that clears out. Wait. Typically a few minutes. Eventually a status bar will pop up saying something like, "Evaluating gapless playback information," or something like that.
The "Inactive" computer is now the "Active" computer. I can now play my library, it has all my playlists and metadata from the other machine.
Delete all the duplicate playlists named "Music," "Genius," "Purchased," and "iTunes DJ."
Well, I just upgraded to iTunes 10.2.2 a few days ago and tried to do this again like I've done it dozens of times before. Now, iTunes just goes unresponsive after the library import. It got through the "Importing library" bar to the long wait and stopped. I can still multiprocess and use other programs, but iTunes is hovering back there not responding to clicks. Task Manager doesn't seem to think iTunes is using my CPU, and I don't see my hard drive rattling. Any thoughts on why iTunes might hang up when importing a large library?
... Also, please help lobby Apple to come up with a network sync tool built into iTunes for a user with multiple authorized computers. Something different than Home Sharing so I can pull my laptop off the network and still have the synced library with me. And all my metadata changes will sync. The technique I use seems a little kludgey, don't you think?

iTunes isn't an editor. You need an app that's intended for editing audio files, like Adobe Audition (http://www.adobe.com/products/audition.html) or Audacity (free in the App Store).

    Hello Lakesidetom,
It sounds as though you are experiencing an issue with an Apple ID and authorizations. Based on your post, it sounds like you are familiar with the authorizing and deauthorizing process. The Apple ID in question (your wife's email) may be originating from the iPhone you are attempting to update. Is it possible that your wife created an Apple ID or iCloud account which is signed in on that iPhone? Below, I have included links to some resources that may help you determine if your wife has created an Apple ID:
