IMovie HD doesn't load themes on my new iMac running latest OSX Lion.
I just bought a new iMac (27inch 8GB) with the latest OSX Lion version.
On my previous computer an iMac (24inch 2007) with Snow Leopard, I had iMovie HD working well. I have installed it on my new iMac but the themes aren't loading for some reason... Not sure why not.
Has anyone else experience this?

I've been having the same issue, but have just discovered something on my own that hasn't been pointed out in any of the forums I've visited. In what I thought would be a vain attempt to help myself, I went to System Preferences, Users & Groups, and then clicked on Login Items. I discovered that one of the Items that was listed to open automatically upon login was iTunes Helper and that there was an exclamation point beside it indicating that it was incompatible. I simply deleted that item and now I don't have the situation you described and my wireless is connected. Hope this helps!

I loaded iTunes on a new laptop. I copied and pasted my albums to a 4G stick and down loaded them to the new laptop. Placing them in, Libraries – Music – iTunes and than in Itunes used File – add file to library. So far so good. For what ever reason one of the CDs would not load onto the stick. I got the orginal CD and loaded directly to Itunes. Now when I look in Libraries – Music – iTunes it’s not there but it is in and plays in iTunes. What should I have done or should I be doing? It's not a unique situation - happens all the time, smaller hard drives getting filled up.
It's also easy to fix. I just moved my itunes content to a bigger hard drive.
First I made a backup of the itunes database file - iTunes Library.itl. Just in case anything went wrong.
Nothing did go wrong, but I'd have it in case anything DID go wrong. That file holds ratings, playcounts, Date Added, and other metadata.
Second, in itunes change the preferences > advanced tab to tell itunes to put everything on G:
Set the itunes folder location to something like G:Media or G:iTunes
This will affect all FUTURE additions to itunes and not do anything to the existing locations.
Make sure the checkbox for "Keep itunes organized" is NOT checked. I also left the "Copy files when adding" unchecked.
Third, to move all the files to G: without itunes losing the paths, run the File > Library > Organize > Consolidate command. This will need to run a while, so be patient as it copies all the files to the new G: location. This does NOT delete the originals. You will have to do that.
Fourth, make sure everything in itunes is OK and you can play stuff in your library. If you're really cautious you can run a script to check for missing/dead tracks. -
Just purchased a new iMac running 10.9.5, needing a version of illustrator. Do I go with CS6 hard copy or down load or CC? I have 17 years of illustrator files some il 7 some CS. Can you save back to Legacy with CC?
Really need to be able to save back to the older versions, in order to output vector files on an older plotter. Running an older application of Mac sign from Softeam, can't get in touch with them. Total pain to upgrade, been dumbing down for too many years.

Loading CS4 Illustrator onto New Imac
I have recently upgraded my old Imac (5 years old) with a new Imac.
I successfully transferred all files apps etc from the old mac to the new mac. I uninstalled CS4 from my old mac and tried to load CS4 to my new Imac and it will not launch???
What have I done incorrectly??

Tim MeyersYou may have already done this so forgive me if you have, but I would try deleting the contents of the /Library/Printers/Canon/BJPrinters folder. I would then navigate to the /Library/Receipts and delete the Canon MP610 xxx.pkg file.
Then control-click on the Printers list in Print & fax and click on "Reset printing system..."
Then empty the Trash, unplug the MP610 USB and restart the iMac.
Then I would install the MP610 v6.91 OS X driver. I found it via the Canon Australia web site (http://www.canon.com.au/products/allin_one_printers/all_in_one_printers/mp610support.aspx).
Once the installation is complete, reconnect the MP610 to the iMac and wait. The printer should automatically appear in the Print & Fax application.

Could it be registered under a different identity? I've used three identities over the years to register stuff, so I have to do some looking around to find stuff. Try old email addresses as possible IDs.

My iPod opens my apps, but doesn't load them or update them. Help!
So basically, let's take Snapchat as an example. I have WiFi. It opens. But then says that I have no internet connection or whatever so it cant update. YouTube however, doesn't load at all. As for my other apps, they open but don't load. Also when I take a picture I see it in the lower left corner but if I tap it all I see is a picture I took a while ago. I'm not sure what to do, and am really scared..could someone help?

Does the iOS device connect to other networks? If yes that tend to indicate a problem with your network.
Does the iOS device see the network?
Any error messages?
Do other devices now connect?
Did the iOS device connect before?
Try the following to rule out a software problem:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Power off and then back on your router
.- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
- iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
- Wi-Fi: Unable to connect to an 802.11n Wi-Fi network
- iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
- Restore from backup. See:

- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem and it does not connect to any networks make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

I just purchased a new iMac with the latest iLife suite. As part of the migration process in setting up the new machine the 3Ivx video codec was brought onto the new machine as well as my old movies. When I tried opening the movies iMovie crashed and told me it had a problem with the 3IVX video codec, in doing some research I found that the 3IVX video codec created a problem so I deleted it and downloaded Perian 123. The Perian 123 works well with Quicktime but iMove does not now see my old movies. At this point I cannot open any of my movies. Can anyone help? Thanks

In iMovie hold down CTRL and click on the clips that don't open. Choose Reveal in Finder. Convert those files by dragging them into the window of converter program, and save as Apple Intermediate Codec (AIC). That format is native to iMovie and will work perfectly. -
bought my mom a new imac this xmas...didn't realize it has no dvd drive....just picked up a new unopened version of iwork '09 for her to use off of ebay....need to get it loaded on the new dvddriveless imac......I have an imac at my house with a drive and a thumb drive i could bring over to her house if I could somehow burn an image of the iwork dvd on the thumb drive...is this possible? is there a better solution other than buying an external dvd drive?
First use Disk Utilty to make a disk image of the iWork disc on your iMac. Then there are two easy ways to install on your mothers new iMac. One is to copy to your USB thumb drive, visit your mother and install from the thumb drive. The other is to use a free upload and download service like www.wetransfer.com. Upload the .dmg disk image via www.wetransfer.com, then your mother downloads and installs. After installation you'll need to update iWork for Mountain Lion compatibility.

Imovie 9.09 unable to generate thumbnails on my iMac running 10.6.8
I'm trying to digitise camcorder footage currently saved on vhs tape. Although I'm now using a 27"iMac running Yosemite, I don't have the usb lead with the std usb connector on the computer end to connect the digitiser to it, so I'm using my old iMac running 10.6.8 and iMovie 9 as I have the correct lead for that iMac.
I did a test one minute file transfer and this digitised, opening it in iMovie 10, ok so I saved it onto a USB stick and transferred it to the 27" iMac though without any content displayed in the clip. Even so, it plays ok so I'd be content if the remaining tapes got digitised with this problem. But.....
When I tried to import 2 hours as one file the conversion appeared to be going ok until I stopped it. I then got a message saying that it was generating thumbnails and would take a minute. this changed to 2, then 9, then 2 hours, then 4 hours. After it had been running for 12 hours with no change in the 4 hours estimated for generating the thumbnails i did a force quite, then tried to get back into iMovie.
When it opened, it went straight into generating thumbnails, estimating the time needed as 9 minutes. It's now been stuck on "less than a minute" for about 30 mins so I'm about to do another force quit.
All suggestions welcomed, ideally to generate thumbails in the shortest time possible - though I'd be content just to get the file transferred with no thumbnails.
Advice please.Save the photos to the camera roll on the iPad, then connect it to your computer with a USB cable. You can import the photos using iPhoto if you have it or image capture if you don't.

Apple offers an inexpensive cross grade or upgrade to Universal Binary versions of FCP for about a year a half. It expired a year ago.
Apple post this upgrade on its web site for FCP during that time, and then extended deadline twice.

Executable JAR containing images doesn't load them
I'm using Netbeans 4.0 for developping a Java Application. This application is composed of 3 packages:
- daemonexplorerv10: which contains the main class.
- GUI: which contains classes I use to create the GUI of the application.
- images: which contains GIF and PNG images used by the application. It also contains a class named ImageLoader which is used to load the images contained in the package. I will detail this class later.
My main class, named Main.java, simply lauches the main JFrame of the application GUI. Here is the code of it's main method:

}For every image I want to use in my application, I use ImageLoader. It fetches the image thanks to the given name, provided that the image is placed in the package called images, or else the method loadImage returns null.
So the MainFrame uses ImageLoader which fetches the image "application_icon.png" for the frame to set it as it's custom icon.
My application runs perfectly well :)... as far as I run it through Netbeans launcher. But Netbeans also creates automatically an executable JAR file for each builded application. So I tried to lauch this JAR. Through this way, the application works, but all the images that should be loaded aren't!
I unpacked the JAR so as to check if all the images are in it. Netbeans includes the images. Netbeans also creates a manifest file which seems perfectly correct.
So I can't understand why my application runs without any images when I launch it through an executable JAR while it works fine (with all the images) when I lauch it through Netbeans.
I checked many forums to find a solution. Using ImageIO doesn't or ToolKit doesn't solve the problem. It simply seems that the path of the package called images can't be found by the method getResource when this package is compressed in the JAR.
P.S: I use J2SE Development Kit 5.0 and J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0.So ReinerP, I tried your code today in a little test application which has a single package containing two classes:
