IMovie HD share to internet (iWeb or other)

Hi all,
I did a few searches but did not see a clear answer to this question: what is the best codec/share option for putting an iMovie HD project on the web (via iWeb, or other web sharing). I captured the footage using 1080i (Sony HDR-HC1), imported to iMovie 6.01, and then tried various export options. An issue seems to be high contrast areas with high resolution (in my example cows, or their fur) when moving. Depending on the codec you get interlacing fuzziness or wave patterns, which also seem to be affected by the size of the Quicktime playback area. The files in my reference page
http://web.mac.com/patrickwlee/iWeb/Site/TestHD.html
can be downloaded (warning, one is 40 mbytes), so I hope to hear better codec solutions if there are any. Thanks in advance.

The issue is your computer and it's video playback abilities. A G4 can't properly play a 1080i file.
Your movie data rate was 88MB per second. Not very many computers can handle those rates.
Maybe you should download a few Apple HD trailers and look at the QuickTime Player "Movie Info" window while the file is playing. You'll get an idea of what settings to use based on these movies.
Web based files are a compromise between file size and quality. Shoot big but playback small. Try 480 for Web use. You'll have a bigger audience and happier viewers.

  • How can I share my Internet with my other devices

I have been assigned a temporary home for the next few months. The only Internet available is via a USB Dongle. The family uses iPads for their daily pleasure. Is there a way to create a shared network from my Mac Book Pro running Mountain Lion OS?

    Hi V3LV3TP0RKR1ND,
You can use Internet Sharing to share your connection with your iOS devices:

  • E72 internet sharing with other computers

I am having problems with my modem at home and am only able to access the internet via my E72 connected via USB to my computer. Is it possible to share this internet connection with other users on my home wireless network?

You can share the internet access from your phone to other devices by using the Joikuspot application. His effectively turns your phone into a wifi hotspot. There is the premium Joikuspot or Joikuspot light which is free but has limited security. Both are available for download from www.ovi.com.

  • If I use internet sharing will it share any documents/files with other connected devices?

Have a 2007 iMac running Leopard and I have it plugged in with an ethernet cable and only use it to share the internet. The iMac has something wrong with it, which came in the form of some sort of virus (in process of deleting it/getting rid of it) and I just bought a new Retina MBP, so don't want anything to transfer between two computers. So, I was wondering if the iMac may share something via internet sharing? Thanks.

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
Unless you use Migration Assistant, no files will get copied to the MacBook Pro with Retina display. Apart from that, I doubt you have a virus, but if you feel better, you can disable file sharing in both computers, so you can be sure nothing will be copied

  • Can I share my internet with my Ipad and simultaneously connect to a airport express that I use to remotely connect speakers?

Can I share my internet from my Imac with my Ipad and simultaneously connect to a airport express that I use to remotely to connect speakers?
The big problem that I'm having is that when internet sharing via the airport I can not simultaneously connect with my airport express.  It would be great to be able to share internet from my Imac so I can be using my Ipad and at the sametime have my wife use the airport express to stream music in a different room. It would be awesome to be able to have the ability to do both. Does anybody know how?

  • Share wireless internet modem from one computer to another with router model WRT120N

I am trying to share an internet connection of my Sprint wireless modem from computer 1 to computer 2. Is there a way to share the internet connection? I have successfully set up a Home Group. I have tried to share my internet connection by
right clicking on the network connections icon in the system tray -->
Open Network and Sharing Center -->
         "Change Adapter Settings -->
         right clicking on "Modem -->
         Properties -->
         Sharing -->
Allow other network users to connect through this computer's connection --> *
Home networking connection: > Local Area Connection -->
         OK **
    * I get this error message
"The user name and password  for this connection cannot be saved for use by all users. As a result, Internet Connection Sharing can only dial this connection when you are logged on. To enable automatic dialing, you should create a new connection for all users, save your user name and password for all users, and then enable sharing for the new connection."
** I get this error message
"Since this connection is currently active, some settings will not take effect until the next time you dial it."
Next Network Magic informs me that LAN has lost connection.
I disconnect from the internet connection then connect again.
Network Magic shows my computer is not connected to the router but the internet is connected as well as the 2nd computer (Sharing the internet to). I can still connect to the internet from my computer.
I tried opening google my IE 9 browser on computer 2, not able to connect. On computer 2 Network Magic shows that all devices are connected to the router but is not connected to the internet.
Home Groups are not available now on both computers but I am still able to connect to mapped network drives.
I am running Network Magic Basic on both computers.

    See this thread: here.
However, please don't use 192.168.0.2 for the router but 192.168.137.2 instead. Home sharing uses 192.168.137.1 on the sharing computer instead of 192.168.0.1 as it was in earlier Windows versions.
To make the change, unplug the WRT from your network. Wire your second computer to a LAN port of the WRT.
Open the web interface at http://192.168.1.1/
On the main setup page, change the LAN IP address from 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.137.2.
On the same page, disable the DHCP server.
    Save settings.
Unplug the computer. Now wire one of the numbered LAN ports of the WRT to your home sharing computer.
    That's it.

  • Can I share my internet connection from macbook pro to macbook air?

    Hello.
I've tried to share my internet connection using wifi, two computers were connected with each other, but one had not internet connection. What can I do to fix it, and have internet access on both computers?

It's actually even easier than that....
I never had to create an adhoc network.

  • Using iWeb on other servers than dot MAC?

Can people confirm that one can use iWeb with other servers than Apple's dot Mac site? The fine print says: *iWeb publishing requires Internet and webserver access (.Mac recommended). So from that I guess it is feasible but is it easy to set up?
    Thanks
    Rudy

After the sales rep at the Apple store confirmed vehemently that I would lose no functionality publishing to my own server, I was disappointed to discover this was not the case.
I wanted to use my own webserver, since there is a perfectly capable apache server already running on my iMac. I do understand that Apple wants to sell their dotmac product, but they have stranded too many users with their approach on iWeb.
I upgraded to iLife 06 specifically for iWeb, and I feel cheated by the withdrawal of functionality unless I buy their dotmac product.

Make sure you have created a Project. The Share menu is for projects. If your clips are in an event, the Share menu will not be active.

  • If I'm connected in wifi with my Macbook, can I share the internet with Iphone? Thanks

If I'm connected in wifi with my Macbook, can I share the internet with Iphone? Thanks

If you are asking about the Internet Sharing feature on the Mac, the answer would be that this option is not available for normal wireless, but it might work for BlueTooth.  Might be worth a try that way.
However, if the Mac had an Ethernet Internet connection, then you could create your own "private" wireless network to allow wireless devices to connect.

  • Why can't I share my Internet between my computers?

Where I live there's a free Wi-Fi hot spot downstairs, so I pick up my Internet from there using Airport Extreme on my PowerBook G4, (10.4.8). My other two computers are: an iMac G3 (10.4.8), and a PowerMac G4 (10.4.8); (neither have airport).
Using Ethernet Cables, I'm trying to network all 3, as well as share the Internet. I've turned on file sharing, Internet sharing, I'm using an Ethernet switch, I'm using patch cables (not crossover cables).
I keep getting the same result, the Network Status page of System Preferences says the following for each:
PB G4 - "Airport is connected to the Airport network xxxx, and you are connected to the Internet via Airport."
PM G4 and iMac G3 - "Built-in Ethernet is currently active and has the IP address 192.168.x.x. You are connected to the Internet via Built in Ethernet."
but when I try to use Safari, it says: "Safari can't open page "http://www.xxxx.com/" because your computer isn't connected to the Internet."
    Any ideas?

SNM - Kappy and Karl are right - generally this won't work (or work well)
You are attempting to set up a complete network. To eliminate the DNS error looking up a web page by name, you will need to set up DNS on your macs by hand (and hope that the access you are using has made this easy for you) This is one of the components of a normal network that is handled automagically when you have a simple network (one router and lots of clients)
By sharing the internet - you are only sharing packets, not high level services. You might be able to look at the network preference pane on your "main mac" and copy the DNS server IP addresses and use them on the "remote macs" - but there are a lot of network configurations where that will not work.
You might also get away with buying an Airport base station and using that to connect to the network below - it is meant to be a router and (again depending on the settings of the network provider - the wireless link below) you might be happier with that setup to bridge the wireless network to the ethernet switch and have your PBG4 still connect wirelessly.
It's hard to tell without control of the main network device...
