IMovie - I don't want to see black background - Want only to see photo

What size does an image (photo) have to be in order that I see only the picture and not added black background?  Seems like some look fine and others have the black added to it.

If your project is HD dimensions, your photo should be 16:9 (e.g. 1920x1080)
If your project is standard def, it could be either 16:9 or 4:3 (e.g. 720x540)
You can do this within iMovie by using the Rotate, Crop, Ken Burs tool on the middle toolbar.
Use FIT to use the entire photo, but with black bars.
Use CROP to cut off the top and bottom, but what is left fills the frame.

A client gave me he's mini Ipad wifi as a gift.
It has all his information:photos, music, contacts, etc. I also took some photos that are in camera roll. I would like to erase everithing and make it totaly mine but don't want to loose my photos and his music which is very good. How should I do???

Resetting the settings will reset things like the wallpaper to the default. It wont remove the apps or music.
As the previous poster said, the apps and music will be tied to the previous owners Apple ID, you'll need the password to update the apps and remain authorized to play the music.
I would suggest taking your stuff off (the camera pictures) then erasing all content and settings so the iPad is like new. For privacy reasons alone I would erase the device. I realise you want to keep the music, but since you haven't paid for it (it was purchased under someone elses ID) then it isn't yours to keep, you'll need to write down the tracks and purchase them under your ID.

They will be backed up only until you backup again. iCloud is not a storage drive in the sky, it is a backup service only. If you delete the photos and videos from the camera roll, and then you backup the iPad with iCloud, you will overwrite that backup and the photos will be gone.
Import the photos to your computer if they are that important to you. iCloud is for backup only, not a storage place that you can download your photos from again once you overwrite that backup.

  • I'm trying to sync my old ipad to itues on my laptop but it keeps saying ipad synced with another iTunes library what can I do I don't want to lose these photos?

I'm trying to sync my old ipad to itues on my laptop but it keeps saying ipad synced with another iTunes library what can I do I don't want to lose these photos?

You can only sync an ipad to one computer at a time.
You can look to something like dropbox, upload your photos there, then do the sync and since your photos are backed up it won't hurt if they are deleted.

  • HT204022 I have owned an ipad for a few months and taken photos without synching to Photstream.  Having just done this I now see photos are removed from iCloud after 30 days.  Are these recoverable or lost for good?

I have owned an ipad for a few months and taken photos without synching to Photstream.  Having just done this I now see photos are removed from iCloud after 30 days.  Are these recoverable or lost for good?

    Please see the following:
    iCloud- Photo Stream FAQ
    iCloud- Photo Stream limits
The 30 day limit, as I understand it, prevails after you reach one of the prevailing number limits. I've yet to reach one of those limits over the past few years and my PhotoStream is still intact.
However, it's a good idea to move your photos into iPhoto which is your on-disk library. And, this library can be backed up locally, thus, preserving your photos.

  • How do you print all the photos in your flagged file? I don't want to make these photos into a new event.

I want to order several photos. I have flagged them and there is no option to select all and order the prints. I don't want to create a new event with these photos, as I want them in their original event files.
How are multiple photos ordered/exported for printing?

Go to your Flagged Photos Smrt Album on the Left.
Command - a will select All
Then File -> New -> Album

I now use mobile me in snow leopard, and have two galleries of photos I have pushed to my iPhone. Can I stil have only selected folders pushed to my iPhone if I upgrade to Lion? I don't want the last thousand pictures on my phone. I only want a gallery or two to show people.

  • I'm trying to find a single missing picture on TC.  But afraid to restore because I don't want to lose current photos.  Help please!

I'm missing a really important picture that I hope was backed up on Time Capsule.  I'd like to view the pictures.  But I'm afraid if I reinstall,  that all the pictures that I've added since will disappear.   Is that a correct assumption?  I really just want to view it to see if the missing pic is there.   "Thanks!

We need more information here to be able to determine how to answer your question correctly.
Are you asking about Time Machine backups that you have made on the Time Capsule?
Are you asking about iPhoto or Aperture....or....another application?
Depending on your information, you may get a faster and more informed response if you post in the support forums for iPhoto or Aperture, but in general, if you are restoring an image library from Time Machine backups......you have an option when you restore the "old" library to keep the current library as well......so for a time, you will have two image libraries.
When you have found the image that you want from the "old" library and you no longer need it, you can delete the "old" library.

  • I don't want iPhone to compress photos synced FROM computer.

I am transferring pictures to my iPhone, and they end up roughly 5x smaller than on my computer. Original is 500K, on iPhone it ends up 100K.
I could not find any setting that says "don't shrink them" or so...
    Thanks

Thanks, I tried yahoo. I see the attachments as full size in my yahoo mail on my iPhone. I see them in my POP3 too, but of course no size info.
I think that was the last straw. No more iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad for me When I make a movie on the i-Thing on my computer, I have many options and I decide how to optimize the movie. I cannot believe they adopted this stupid behind-the-scenes approach with pictures.

  • My computer shows the error, "This iPhone is synced with another iTunes library. Do you want to erase this iPhone and sync with this iTunes library?" I don't currently have any songs on my iPhone but I don't want to lose my photos or messages?

All I am simply trying to do is put some songs from my iTunes playlist on my computer onto my iPhone.
By erasing the content of my iPhone I'm scared that I will lose all my photos and messages etc.
    Help please!

  • Recently I am getting a message when I try to sync photos to my iPad from my PC in iTunes suggesting that photos already on the iPad will be removed if I sync.  I don't want to remove existing photos.  Any ideas?I

I am trying to copy photos from a recent vacation to my iPad2.  The process was straightforward using iTunes until recently. Now I am getting a message warning me that if I sync photos from the folder on my PC to iTunes and my iPad, photos already on the iPad (except ones taken by the iPad) will be removed.  I am running iOS 8.0.2 and the most recent iTunes update. I do not want to remove all the other photos from my iPad, so I cancel the sync.  I have tried copying the photos using the Apple SD card connector, but it does not recognize my SD card (it does recognize an SDHC card, but I am unable to copy the photos to that card).  Is anyone else gettinga message like what I describe above when trying to sync photos to an iPad2 in iTunes?

It is really a very simple fix. Place ALL of the photos that you want to sync to the iPad into one photos folder and sync that folder to the iPad. In your case, place the next set of photos that you want to sync, into the folder with the first set of photos that you already synced to the iPad. You can only sync from one main photos folder and if you choose another folder that does not include the photos that you previously synced, those photos will be erased from the iPad - as you have now discovered.
You can sync one level of sub folders with the main photos folder. You can have as many sub folders as you want (as long as you have the storage space available on the iPad) but you can only sync from one main photos folder. After you place all of the photos into the one main folder, when you go to the Sync Photos From drop down menu in iTunes, select that main photos folder and all of the sub folders that you placed in there will appear and you can select each sub folder to sync as well.

  • You have a BUY button and then take me to your adobe cloud page where I can't just buy it but have to pay in a plan to use it. You don't even have it as a single app. What Gives? Your new cloud purchase app is terrible. I don't want it bundled with Photos

I really can see why many are annoyed and frustrated with your new buying method. Are you trying to lose faithful customers of the past and those of the present. I really hope you get an insight into what you are really doing.

Can I just point out that if Adobe really felt that a wholesale move to the subscription model was the only way to go in terms of the bottom line, there's absolutely nothing whatsoever to stop them from shutting the door on the stand-alone version right now.
No offence, but I find this conspiracy theory stuff pretty tedious really: Adobe doesn't need to "hide" the stand-alone in order to drive us all into the arms of CC - they could just scrap it. But they haven't, and it's not that hard to find, so the whole premise that what we're seeing is some sort of "strategy" intended to force us all onto CC, just doesn't wash.

  • I don't want all my my photos on iCloud

I am saddened by the way in which Apple is now prompting a change in Photo storage, encouraging valued customers to start paying additional fees for using Cloud Based Servers (that I personally don't trust)!
In the past I had used Aperture for my professional Archives, making use of iPhoto for personal albums. Now with the new 'Photo' App. it would appear the default is going to encourage images to be stored and shared on the Cloud.
I had been delighted to change from Microsoft after years of frustration, witnessing the disappearance and loss of support for Windows software programmes. Apple as the worlds largest and most successful company are now forcing me to abandon my own preferences in file storage.
What are other professional users doing with regards image archival programming?

I think there is a difference between "default" and "forcing."
