I need to use individuall slides from my short movie I made for a report. Is there a way to capture/copy/and paste the individual slides?

You need to designate the external drive as your scratch disk -
FCP3 is several versions ago, and I assume your are on OS 9?
You need to get to where you control your System Settings, or preferences for FCP.
There should be a pane that allows you to designate your scratch drive of your choice.
I've forgotten what it looks like in FCP 3, in newer FCP versions it looks like this:

But as pointed out, you really need to be capturing DV with a Firewire external.

Can I copy/paste a FF Reader pdf file to a 2nd computer that does not have FF Reader?
I have 2 computers, one has Fire Fox Reader one does not. Is it possible to copy/paste by way of a jump drive a pdf file that is saved using Fire Fox Reader to the computer that does not have Fire Fox Reader and be able to open & work with that pdf file? The second computer only has Adobe Reader installed.
I already know that an Adobe Reader pdf file moved from the 2nd computer to the first will open, it opens in Fire Fox Reader.Yes, if you save a PDF file then you can open that file with any program that can handle such a PDF file.
So if the other computer has the Adobe Reader then that program will be used. -
I made a video series on one time line and now want to copy paste sections into other tiemlines so I can separate the series into distinct videos to upload. How do I get new timelines? When I go to new event it asks for import footage.
You seem to be new to this software, so I highly recommend that you take some time to learn it using some great tutorials available online - it will pay off to invest the time, if you follow through, for example the great (and free) introductory tutorial at izzyvideo.com.
This is an amazing piece of software, and you'll have a lot to learn, but it's well worth it. -
How can I copy/paste multiple slides, from one presentation to another with keynote(on IPAD)?
Two ways:
Touch and hold the first slide, then, with your finger still on the first slide, tap each consecutive slide to add them to the selection. Cut and paste as above.
Starting with the SECOND slide in the series you want to copy, drag each slide to the right so that it indents under the first one (this is all done in the slide sorter column, on the left of the screen). Tap the triangle to the left of the first slide -- the slides will all collapse into one group. Now tap the slide that is showing and you will have selected the entire group. Copy the group, switch to the other presentation, and paste the whole group into the new presentation (touching and holding a slide in the slide sorter column opens the cut and paste menu) -
When I copy/paste text to an ipages empty document can does it only show the first page of what I copied?
You want to use word processing mode. I suggest you ask your question in the Pages forum and include information about what you are copying. Off the top of my head I can't come up with any reason you'd see this in WP mode. https://discussions.apple.com/community/iwork/pages

Pls confirm if you are using Windows 2000 Pro, in this O/S the
hostname is the name of the computer itself. Check the
MyComputer->Properties->Network Identification->Properties, the name you
find under the computer name will be automatically taken while
installation, if it doesn't then there is some error. However the
C:\Winnt\System32\Drivers\Etc\hosts doesn't matter much while installing
iAS 6.0 SP1 or above. Hope this helps

Yes, they are labeled in order b001au to b00410.au
The great majority are 1.1 Mb but some are smaller. There are 410 files and I took a sampling here and there.
When I go to info it tells me that it is a neXT sound file.

Need help with copy/paste in CSS

I am 3 lessons into a Dreamweaver class so that is the extent of my knowledge. For some reason when I copy/paste code from one CSS sheet to another the code is present etc. but when I go back into the HTML file to view the changes, nothing happened. I verified the coding and they are all correct etc. When I cut and paste new code into an HTML file, it works no problem so why is it not accepting the changes in the CSS? It is not even happening when I copy and paste an image. The image has text with it and rules set up but when I copy/paste , the rules don't apply and it has to be reformatted etc. I have even taken the code and manually typed it into the CSS and still nothing. I am beyond stumped with this.

So, you confirm that the code you copied is now present in the alternate CSS file, right?
but when I go back into the HTML file to view the changes, nothing happened.
To understand this we would need to see a) the code that you pasted into the original CSS file, and b) the HTML on the page. Can you paste those two snippets into a reply here?
The remainder of your post suggests to me that you are pasting HTML into a CSS file. You do know that is not going to work, right? -

Or look on one of the Auction websites or places like iFixit.com for a replacement set.
If your Mac came new with any of the Download Only versions of OS X, Lion, Mt Lion or Mavericks you don't need any discs to reinstall OS X. You use the Online Internet Recovery system or the built in Recovery HD partition inb the internal hard drive.
For the built in Recovery HD hold down the Command + r keys at startup. For the Online system hold down the Command + Option/Alt + r keys and keep them held down until you see a globe on the screen. -
Need to export audio for individual slides from slideshow recording
I have a Captivate project that was recorded using full motion video whilst navigating through a PowerPoint slideshow. Some of the slides have now been updated, and I need to break up the original recording and extract audio for each individual slide. This will also make incremental updates easier for me going forward.
Is there any way to do this using Captivate?

Do you know that each clip you record during captivate is saved as an individual Wav file?
If you go do the Audio Menu, and then Audio Management you can see which wav file is attached to which slide.
Are you using captivate 5?
If you are, then the next step is to click on the speaker icon for the slides on the left side of the screen, and you can edit the audio track as needed or cut out the parts as needed....
If this is what your doing I can explain it better, just not sure if this is what your after.

Ok, so I use copy and paste to move some of my slides to a
blank project (to get the file size down).
But I lose all the navigation links. As I have 8 slides, and
each slide links to all of the others... that's a lot of links to
fix up.
Is there a way to do this so I don't lose all the links?

I can print the PPT as a PDF with speaker notes but this makes it into an attachment when adding to Evernote which for some reason makes the text on each slide/image unsearchable and it just makes the whole file too big (which in many cases violates Evernote's 100 MB file size limit).
I have been researching how to convert the PPT to a Word document, but apparently Microsoft got rid of that feature in the version that I have (14.3.9) because it was too unweildy and just didn't always work like it was supposed to.
I don't have any experience with coding (very limited html coding), but it seems to me like this would be a very simple thing to do with Automator where I could just specify the new PPT that I received, click run, and voila! have an Evernote note with each slide followed by its speaker notes in text format so that I could add/delete/edit them as I please as I'm working through them for school.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
