IMovie imported file format

I have imported a number of files from my old high 8 video camera into IMovie on my MAC.
The original tapes are now gone.
Now a friend of mine wants to do some video editing on his PC -  is it possible to export all the raw data files to a format that will be recognised on a PC ?
Thanks for any help.

Yes, it should be. When exporting your movie, click File>Share>File. This should export it as a .mp4, which is regonized on almost all PCs.

  • IMovie '11 file formats supported?

What video file formats are supported by iMovie '11?

iMovie is meant for camcorder imports.
so, it basicly supports camera 'formats'.
but the underlying Quicktime-engine handles a few other formats as well

  • DRM Excel Import file format?

    Hi Everyone !!
I want to import data from Excel sheet using DRM
please can anyone share a sample format for this in excel , DRM Excel import file
    thanks in advance

I don't think we have an option to Import from Excel file, we are currently in 11.1.2.2 and so far it supported only a Text File Import, In the latest version we can Import from Tables, also no where Oracle has mentioned that we can Import from an Excel File.

  • Import file format in DRM

    Hi,
i am looking for an exact file format to be imported in DRM. can anybody pls help me with that ?
i created a simple text file, but has a few confusions in it, like what all fileds i need to include in it ? do i need to keep the headers in the file ?
it would be helpful, if someone can let me know the file formats and steps to be taken care, while importing a file in DRM.
    Thanks in Advance !

    Hi,
Your import file should have atleast one or all of the sections required in an IMPORT File
Version , Hierarchy, Node, Relationship, Hierarchy Node. Please refer the user guide for DRM for details about these sections, I would suggest to remove any headers or footers that you have in your file.
Depending on the version of DRM you are working with download the user guide to get the Import file details

  • Import file format aspect ratio

If I import a video in Mpeg2 format, After effects uses the wrong aspect ratio and crops off the sides of the video. Other video formats are fine but my camera records in Mpeg2 so I have to convert before import

What size is the Mpeg2 format? What Pixel Aspect Ratio? After Effects always handles different sizes and pixel aspect ratios correctly if you have not mucked up the settings somewhere in the chain.
Please show us info on your footage that includes frame size, frame rate, and compression. Then Please show us the information on your compositions.

  • IMovie Export File Format

Hi all. I just finished making a short (about 2 minute) digital story in iMovie (pictures, music, and voiceover) and need to export it. i was wondering what the best export format is if i wanted to posot it to a website?

Just use share>media browser then choose either the medium or mobile setting.
Alternatively you can publish direct to youtube with iM09. You'll have to first provide your logon info.

  • How to Reduce/Save Large iMovie Imported File for DVD

8/24/2006. Question: I used a PYRO A/V to convert a 122 minute two hour videotape (made in 1989 Slow Speed with some camcorder then) from a good VCR to my iBook Mac G4 (2004. combo drive. 30 Gb free. OS 10.3.9 Also iLife 6 and the latest iMovie 6 and iDVD 6 apple downloads). The analog to digital file came out fine, except a few frames clipped off the first second of audio, but OK. Now then I have a file of 24.5 Gb. So I saved it from iMovie as QuickTime movie, which took half a day, ending up with a file of 536 mgs. But I want to save the clip as a 4.5 Gb file for a DVD. I have a LaCie external D2 Dual Layer DVD-/+RW Drive. When I go into SHARE, should I then go into at the bottom of the menu SHARE and use expert settings, and if so, then what settings?? What settings--or other--should I use to reduce the 24.5 file Gb to 4.5 Gb?? Many thanks. Chuck Yopst. [email protected] 847-394-5621 Molunt Prospect, Illinois (nw Chicago suburb)

8/29/2006. Michael, Thank you. You are very helful, seriously, and a good friend. I couldn't do what you suggested yet--for iDVD Themes . . . or iDVD--File--Save to Disc, because I have only 5.6 Gb free and it requires 7.9 or more (nor from iMovie thus either), but I'll try to move some files elsewhere to my external drive to free up my Hard Drive to do this. BUT Toast 7 video is saving the whole file--three parts 59 and 22 and 32 minutes, total 113 minutes. You opened these options for me. Many, many thanks and best wishes. Chuck

  • Changing file format

I am trying to change the import file format to AAC. I followed the directions that the iTunes help has given me. However, when I went to Edit > Preferences, click Advanced, and then click Importing ... there is no tab for Importing.
    where would it be located??

On the latest version of iTunes 8.2--the import settings are located on the General Tab--there's a button in the middle of the box "Import Settings".

  • Can iMOVie import MP4 movies?

Can iMOVIE import MP4 formatted movies/

    Interesting,
Are you sure your using iMovie10 ?
Just tested (to be absolutely sure) a couple of clips.
Input DV-tape exports as .mp4 (SD and 540P quality)
Input .mp4 exports as .mp4 in HD and .mp4 in SD
Input AVCHD exports as .mp4 as well HD as SD.
iMovie 9 (iLife 11) exports default  in .mov (or .m4v when exported to iTunes)

  • IMovie 09 has trouble importing large video files from my JVC HD-40. I am trying to edit files such as these in 09. What should I do? Would buying iMovie 2011 help? I am shooting AVCHD files instead of the other mpeg2 file format.

    Hi,
I am new into the Apple Community. I have a camcorder known as the JVC GZ-HD40 US and I currently am trying to use iMovie 2009 to edit my movies. With my camcorder, I have the choice to use two different video formats: AVCHD or Mpeg2. All my videos are shot in the AVCHD (HD) file format. This camcorder also has a 120 G Hard Drive built into it. When I plug in the camcorder through USB to my MacPro, the Hard Drive of the camcorder shows up as a icon on the desktop. Many of my video clips are at least thirty minutes in length, inside the camcorder. When I try to import in iMovie my video files, it only imports around ten minutes of the video and skips to the end of the clip. I would greatly prefer to use my MacPro desktop to edit movies instead of my Windows 7 computer which seems to work fine. Is there a solution to this problem? Would the new iMovie 2011 application solve this problem? I also have the Final Cut Express to work with, and also, can't get it to work. What should I try doing?

    Hi all,
I have the exact same problem. I've just been to Thailand with my girlfriend, and we recorded a lot of stuff with my brand new Sony HD camcorder. And whenever the we ran out of camcorder memory we just emptied everything onto my HP laptop using the supplied Sony software, which produced m2ts files. When we got home, I realized that my Mac Pro/iMovie09 was not able to import this format. What a huge disappointment! Especially considering the fact that I just bought my mac back in March (my first mac ever) only for video editing and music composing (no problems with music composing, however!).
Well, I needed a solution, so last week I just bought the Voltaic HD converting software (35$), and it works great. No problems. Only thing is that my Mac Pro (quad intel core) had to work 24 hours a day for four straight days/nights in order to finish the converting job - resulting in 434 GB worth of mov-files. This is no problem as such, and the quality is great. BUT it seems rather stupid that this converting has to take place. If I use Sony Vegas on my PC, it works out of the box with my original m2ts-files. And I would really appreciate if Apple would implement a simple import function of m2ts-files in their software - one that would (if necessary) automatically convert the files to mov. Or even better: would work natively with the m2ts-files.
    Best,

  • What movie file formats can be imported into iMovie?

Can you directly import .avi, mpeg or .mov files? What about a Quicktime movie file? Just trying to figure out which file format iMovie will accept. I have a movie that was edited on Adobe Premiere and want to make sure I export the movie in the correct format.
    Thanks.

keep in mind: avi nor mov are 'formats', just media wrappers = box of chocolate, you'lll never know ...
stay within normal video standards, such as 1080i or 720p, 25/29.97fps ... mov encoded with h264 should be fine.
and avoid fancy stuff such as surround, Dolby 5.1., 3D ........
