IMovie, iPhoto etc.

I currently have an iBook G4 running 10.3.9. My computer came with iMovie, iPhoto, iDvd, and Garage Band. I know that Tiger doesn't come with these programs, but I would like to know if I can carry over my older versions when I upgrade, and how to do it.

Samusaaron,
Welcome to Apple Discussions.
That is possible and it can be accomplished with an Archive and Install Upgrade.

  • Missing iMovie/IPhoto Etc.

I reformatted my Mac a few months back before I left for college, just to give it a fresh start. I didn't notice until fairly recently however, that iMovie was missing. I have a class project that could really utilize it. I'm wondering if there is any way to get it back without starting from scratch (have about 15G of music, and ALOT of word files etc already downloaded)
    Thanks!

Getting a new hard drive will not help you. You really need to purchase iLife '08 or find your iLife'08 install disk at home. You may want to make sure you have the rest of the iLife suite.

  • IMovie, iPhoto not free anymore on iPad Air

I purchased an iPad Air for myself a month ago. I installed the free iMovie, iPhoto etc. with my own ID. I gave that iPad Air to a family member and purchased another iPad Air and installed everything the same way as I had on the first. My family member restored the iPad I gave them and tried to get the iMovie, iPhoto with their own ID but it's not free anymore. What can I go to get these apps back on that iPad?

The software was provided free of charge once for the iPad.  You used your account to collect on the one time free offer.  The offer is now spent.  Your family member can not take advantage of a free offer that has been consumed at this point.
What you need to do is disconnect their account on the iPad.  Log in to the old iPad with your account, and then reinstall the apps you need to.  Then disconnect your account and have them log in again with their account..

  • External HDs connected to Airport Extreme and Imovie / Iphoto issues

I recently purchased a WD mac edition "my book" hardrive in order to store all my imovie, iphoto and itunes files externally. I connected the hard drive to my airport extreme base station but was unable to move my imovie files to the hard drive. Instead I received some derivation of the following message - "volume not compatible." After being transferred to a number of different people at apple support, I was finally told that the imovie, iphoto etc... are not compatible with hard drives that are connected wirelessly. I cannot believe that this is the case (presumably imovie files can be saved on timecapsule). I would be most grateful if someone could help me out here.

I was finally told that the imovie, iphoto etc... are not compatible with hard drives that are connected wirelessly. I cannot believe that this is the case
Nor can I. Files are files, some are bigger than others but to a hard disk, they're all the same.
I would presume that you don't get this message when connecting your My Book directly to the computer's USB port?
Apple Support simply couldn't have understood you correctly. I wouldn't expect to use iMovie or iPhoto to manipulate remotely stored files, but merely copying them for archival purposes is a completely legitimate use for the external HD.
This makes no sense. Perhaps you could post your question in an iLife forum.

  • I bought a macbook pro as an open item in best buy and it doesn't come with garage ban, iMovie, iphoto, numbers, etc. what can I do?

I bought a macbook pro as an open item in best buy and it doesn't come with garage ban, iMovie, iphoto, numbers, etc. what can I do?

it wouldnt come with numbers, only iphoto, imovie, and garageband.  Have you tried this?
Double-click the App Store icon in the dock.
Enter your Apple ID and password.
    Click Purchases.
If you haven't previously accepted your bundled iLife applications within the Mac App Store, you should see your iLife applications appear in the Accept portion of the screen. Click Accept.
You may be asked for your Apple ID and password once again. Your iLife applications now move to the Purchased section. These applications are part of the software that came with your Lion based computer. Your account will not be charged for them. Click Install to complete installation of your applications.

  • After I upgrade to Mav. will I need to pay to upgrade Pages, Numbers, iPhoto etc. again. I have the older versions.

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
It depends on the iLife (iPhoto, iMovie and GarageBand) and iWork (Pages, Numbers and Keynote) versions you have.
If you have got iLife '11 and iWork '09, you will be able to update the applications for free, but if you have got an older version, you will have to pay for them in the App Store

  • I cant run Imovie, Iphoto and my desktop reset itself.

    Hi everyone.
I started up my macbook today and went to play a movie I have been working on when it wouldnt run. I restarted to try again when I noticed my background and all my icons were gone. Next I tried to look at my photos and they would not open either. The desktop looks exactly how it did when i bought the thing. When I click on Itunes it says I have to reagree to the terms and policies. The wierd part to me is, it still has all my songs and photos but they all seem to be hidden and wont open when I try to click on the desktop. Thanks for reading this and any help would be appreciated since I'm a good halfway around the world from the nearest apple store.

    bonezilla,
when i still try to open up Imovie or Iphoto they do not open
Do they just bounce in the Dock or do they open and quit immediately upon launch? A good place to start for troubleshooting applications that do not open or unexpectedly quit upon launch is Dr. Smoke's FAQ "Multiple applications quit unexpectedly or fail to launch". Perform the troubleshooting steps therein in the order presented and see if you have any luck.
My pictures are still in the computer but when i go to open them they open in preveiw form
By preview form do you mean that when you click on a photo it opens in Preview application and not in another application such as iPhoto etc.? If so, select/highlight a photo by clicking once on it and then using the Get Info command in your File Menu or using the command key + "i" to Get Info. When the Get Info pane appears you can change the application for opening the file under the Open With selection (if the triangle is closed click on it to expand that section) pop up menu. After you select the application you want to open all those types of files then click "Change All" button. That should change the application that you want to open them with. If not post back and try to explain further what you are trying to do.
Sorry I suck at explaining myself
No apology necessary, as these things can be somewhat confusing even for more seasoned users. Just takes some time and trial and error usually to get at the bottom of these types of problems.

On my new ipod touch 5g is imovie ,iphoto not installed or free on the  appstore while apple says that it is normally installed on the new ipod touches what can I do?

The do not cme preinstaled but can be purchased at no cost if you meet these requirements
GarageBand is free on the App Store for all iOS 7 compatible devices; additional GarageBand instruments and sounds are available with an in-app purchase. iPhoto, iMovie, Pages, Numbers, and Keynote are free on the App Store for qualifying iOS 7 compatible devices activated on or after September 1, 2013. See www.apple.com/ios/whats-new/ for iOS 7 compatible devices. Downloading apps requires an Apple ID.
    copied from http://www.apple.com/ipod-touch/specs.html
Just go to the App Store and find the apps. They should say free . Just tap to install

  • New Macbook Pro without imovie, iphoto...

I just got a new macbook pro but i looked everywhere and cannot find the imovie, iphoto and all the other i's! where do i download it? here is it?
    thank in advance

Yes, you are right. I bought the computer BUT it was one returned, so I believe they have already installed the disks. As I first opened the computer and turned it on, I never had to install anything using the disks. All I did was: turn it on, create an account and BAM, it was working.
As the day went bye, here I am looking for the **** applications and they cannot be found.
I will try inserting the disk and see where it takes me.
    Thanks!

  • Macbook a1181 cannot access System Preference or any apps such as Safari, iPhoto, etc.  How can I fix this?

Hi, I recently purchased a used MacBook a1181 and cannot access anything.  I am new to Apple computers/laptops so I don't know if there is a simple solution or if it's maybe a HD problem?  I tried to go into System Preferences and nothing happens.  The dock (?) at the bottom also has a bunch of question marks. When I scroll over the question marks, I can see apps like Safari, iPhoto, etc. but I cannot open anything.  I also tried to go to About this Mac and can't get anywhere either.   Any ideas what could be wrong?

" The dock (?) at the bottom also has a bunch of question marks"
So usually that means that the applications are missing. It's like in a PC where the "Short Cut" link is broken.
"When I scroll over the question marks, I can see apps like Safari, iPhoto, etc. but I cannot open anything."
So just like when shortcuts are broken and for the same reason: applications are moved, renamed etc.
    and with this:
"I also tried to go to About this Mac and can't get anywhere either. "
    Probably a bad install.
"When I tried to re-install the OS, the disc would spin and then eject.  I tried several different installation CDs and even an external DVD player and each time the CD ejected out without installing. "
What disks are you using? The originals would be Tiger and gray, 10.4.8 (Not the retail installer which would be 10.4.0.), Leopard, Snow Leopard. So 10.4.8 to 10.6.8 compatible.

  • Lost iMovie, iPhoto and iDVD when hard drive crashed.

I owned my iMac since 2007 and my first OS was 10.4.  As far back then, my iMac came with iMovie, iPhoto and iDVD already installed.  Since 2011, I had OS 10.6 on my iMac.  Two weekends ago, my hard drive crashed and lost many applications, including iMovie, iPhoto and iDVD.  I still had a copy of 10.6 on a disc and reinstalled it and even updated it to the version I had before my HD crashed.  I notice that iMovie, iPhoto and iDVD are not in my computer anymore.
I visited the download section on the Apple website and have found versions of iMovie, iPhoto and iDVD that would be compatable with OS 10.6.8, but for some reason I can't install them.  I was able to install iPhoto, but can't open it.  I can't even install iDVD.  I haven't tried to install iMovie.
Is there any way I can install these applications I lost?  I realize purchasing a new copy of iLife is one option, but the version that is out now is not compatable with OS 10.6.8.

These are not applications. They are updaters for the applications.
You will have got a disk with your Mac that had the applications on it. You can reinstall from that.

  • The Apple Store recommended wiping and reloading software on my Mac Mini yesterday.  In the process I lost iMovie, iPhoto and Garage Band.  How can I get them back?

I took my Mac Mini to the Apple store yesterday since I was having trouble with difficult to read text.  They recommended wiping the drive and reloading it.  I lost iMovie, iPhoto and Garage band in the process.  How can I get them back.  The App store says they are already installed.

What I missed was that I needed to select "Purchased" rather than using the normal listing of items.  Once I went to the purchased list I could easily download the various software.
Thank you all for your help.

Contact App Store support. There's a link on the right hand side of the App Store Window. They're the only ones who can sort out account issues.
