IMovie is not free

Hi, I have an iPod touch 5th generation that I got for Christmas 2012. I can't seem to get iMovie or iPhoto for free. I went into the App Store and tapped on apps by apple and it was still €4.50 I read something that said I need to re-register my device with the serial number. I'm going to do that but will it do anything to my ipod? Thanks

You needed to have purchased the iPod last Sept or later:
GarageBand is free on the App Store for all iOS 7 compatible devices; additional GarageBand instruments and sounds are available with an in-app purchase. iPhoto, iMovie, Pages, Numbers, and Keynote are free on the App Store for qualifying iOS 7 compatible devices activated on or after September 1, 2013. I purchased an iPad Air for myself a month ago. I installed the free iMovie, iPhoto etc. with my own ID. I gave that iPad Air to a family member and purchased another iPad Air and installed everything the same way as I had on the first. My family member restored the iPad I gave them and tried to get the iMovie, iPhoto with their own ID but it's not free anymore. What can I go to get these apps back on that iPad?

The software was provided free of charge once for the iPad. You used your account to collect on the one time free offer. The offer is now spent. Your family member can not take advantage of a free offer that has been consumed at this point.
What you need to do is disconnect their account on the iPad. Log in to the old iPad with your account, and then reinstall the apps you need to. Then disconnect your account and have them log in again with their account..

IPhoto, iMovie is not free for iPhone 5

I'm a user from srilanka, and seems the iPhoto and iMovie cannot be installed freely in my iPhone 5. tried via iTunes as well. any solutions on this?

iPhoto and iMovie are only free with new iOS 7 enabled devices that were purchased after September 1, 2013. Does your iPhone meet these requirements?

IMovie is not free in appstore.

I re-install OSx on my rMBP late 2013. And now I can't download iMovie for free. It show price 14.99$ but before I re-install OSx I can download normally.
How can I download it for free ?

Have you logged in with the Apple ID you used to register your MacBook Pro? Open the Mac App Store, log in with your Apple ID and go to Purchases, so you should see iMovie, iPhoto and GarageBand to be installed free of charge. If you don't see them there, check that they are hidden, and if so, unhide them > http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4928
Did you accept the applications before reinstalling OS X? If not, this may be the problem

I first deleted it and than i want to download it again, but i realize that iMovie is no longer free for my macbook pro( other apps, like pages, iPhoto and Garageband are still free), bt the way, my macbook pro is late 2013 version.

It's something to do with the main user account (not iTunes account) on my Mac because I logged in with another account and it downloaded fine, I installed it on the HDD and even though the date in App Store was 16th October 2014, it is the full installer of 10.10.2.
To try to resolve this problem, I have copied the installer app elsewhere and deleted it but App Store still will not allow me to download it with my main user account yet just allowed me to update iTunes.
I had a brainwave last night that it might have been related to me changing the default downloads folder to one not on my boot drive (to save disk space on my main boot drive) but having changed it back, tried again, rebooted and tried yet again, deleted my App Store preferences. nothing has worked.

The do not cme preinstaled but can be purchased at no cost if you meet these requirements

They are free to People who have purchased ios devices after a cetain date(September 2013).
Those that have devices purchased before then have to pay.

I installed iMovie 10 when I first purchased the Macbook, but I deleted as I did not need it then. It was free then. However, I reinstalled Mac OS X after that.
Now, it is not free at all.

I just bought a new ipad mini retina and downloaded all the free apps from Apple. Or i thought i did, i just realized that i didn't download imovie. When i now go to the app store i have to pay 4.49 euro for it. I got all the other iLife and iworks apps for free.
I allready tried to logout and login again with my Apple id, but that didn't make it free.

You need to convert the VOB files in the TS-Folder of the DVD back to DV which iMovie is designed to handle. For that you need mpegStreamclip:
