IMovie like working environment

Is it possible to convert the FCP like the photogenic working environment on the iMovie?
I find iMovie just more pleasant on eyes and the workflow.

But you can let Apple know that you'd like them to modernize their GUI

I think if they at least updated the browser to include a more elegant and manageable clip view it would make things more efficient and pleasant.

Well, my two-month-old MBP has no qualms about booting from a no-name external USB HD I put together...
Given that is is a common point of failure, I would imagine a large Apple Store should keep a stock of HD's on hand.
Now since you're a bit desperate and the genie pops up til Saturday and you seem to be the enterprising kind, let's try an experiment: if you have room enough in the external HD and assuming it isn't a Time Machine volume, why don't you plug it in, stick the Install CD and see if the installer lets you select the external drive as the install target. If you can install Leopard on it, on top of the backup without reformatting, and the Mac can boot from the drive afterwards, at least you would have some functionality restored and would be able to pull your stuff from the internal HD. Apple says booting from USB drives is not supported but that does not equate to not possible; some brands do work. Risks? Always. You can always lose your backup. Like I said, a challenge for an enterprising gal....
Next time around, consider having a bootable external clone at hand for rainy days. I keep three myself...

Older iMovie files work incorrectly in iMovie 6

My old iMovie 4 files can't be played correctly in iMovie 6. Especially the blending effects do not blend in a smooth way. They seemed to be destroyed. Also effects like slow motion are only shown correctly in the preview. Doesn't iMovie 6 working with my G4. If so, can I reinstall iMovie 4 again ?

You will need to find a used copy of iLife '06 installer discs. E-bay, Craigslist, perhaps Google Groups Low End Mac.

You can investigate iLife '08 as mende1 suggests. Many people did not like the "improvements" Apple made to iMovie '08 and Apple went as far as making available a special download of iMovie 06 for those who purchased iLife 08. This download is no longer available.
You also did not say what hardware you are using. iMovie '08 will not run on all computers capable of running 10.4.11 - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1010

Restoring iMovie to working order

Hello,
I have been experiencing some serious problems with iMovie, and really need some help. Editing videos is pretty much impossible right now because most edits I perform result in the clips becoming corrupted or crashing. This means that, after doing something like slowing down or speeding up a clip, or inserting a transition, the entire project crashes: I can no longer spool through the clips, and the screen goes grey. This happens after almost all forms of editing, apart from simple cutting (although, occasionally even cutting a clip can crash it). I even find that, if I have been editing successfully for a while, then close iMovie to do something else, when I reopen it, all the clips are now corrupted and uneditable. I have tried everything I can think of to fix this: I rebought iMovie from iTunes, hoping that the new version would be ok, but it still has the same problems; I have an eloborate method of moving the Event Folder to the desktop, opening iMovie, putting the folder back into "iMovie Events" and then importing another video; I've made sure all my clips are in the same fps (25). But I still experience these problems.
Since I had the same problems even after downloading a new version of iMovie, I suspect that it is something to do with my computer - perhaps a missing or corrupted file that is related to iMovie. I would really like to be able to restore this programme to working order so that I can edit videos without having to worry about random crashing and lost hours of work. Is there a way to reinstall the software that reverts everything back to its original state?
What is frustrating is that I use iMovie at work as well, to make some pretty dull movies for my company, and everything works like a dream on that one - but my iMovie at home, where I am trying to make movies that I actually want to make, crashes and breaks down at the drop of a hat! I cannot even begin to describe the amount of wasted hours, aborted projects and frustration that this has caused, and I can't think of what to do to fix it, short of buying a completely new iMac. Any help would be greatly appreciated, surely there must be a way of ensuring that everything relating to iMovie is in working order.

How to make all users have the same working environment?

Hi guys,
thanks for helping out on this issue.
Is there a way to set all users on your system to have the same working environment? I believe, as root you can edit the /etc/profile. But when I looked at the file, I was confused. I had no idea where to add stuff because it was a script.
Please if anyone can help me explain how to customize system wide working environments, I will be very grateful .

It's not clear what you understand under system wide working environments ?
/etc/profile it's one possible solution.
Another way - put custimozed .profile to all users and use customezed */etc/skel* for new users.

Clip inspector in imovie not working properly - when I select a picture (in project library) - and select clip adjustment it tells me that I need to select one or more clips to view Inspector tools and when I select a movie clip and then click on audio adjustments the audio adjustment appears as a speaker icon and I don't know how to get to the various audio options? It was working fine one minute and then I seemed to lose the functionality. Also editing a photo in a photo or getting rid of ken burns effect etc does not seem to work. help

Can anyone shed any light on this as I am having the same problem? One minute it works fine, the next you get the error message above.

Three System Landscape consists of a development system DEV, a quality assurance system QAS and a production system PRD. The development system contains the Customizing client CUST, the quality assurance system contains the quality assurance client QTST and the production system contains the production client PROD.
The system landscape contains all the SAP Systems that you have installed. It can consist of several system groups, whose SAP Systems are linked by transport routes.
After you decide which clients you need and which roles you want them to have, you need to decide how to distribute them amongst the different SAP Systems. You can set up multiple clients independently of one another in a single SAP System. However, when you configure the data, you must remember that cross-client Customizing settings and Repository objects are identical for all clients in a single SAP System. Changes made in one client apply immediately to all clients in the system.

Paste phone n° out of email in work environment to the phone dialing pad is not possible

I am trying to paste a phone number out of an email in my work environment to the dialing pad of the phone.
When I do that, I receive the error message that I am not allowed to paste work content into a personal application, although I am in the work environment and I have also opened the phone in the work environment.
When the email recognized the phone number "automatically," I am able to call that number.
I am using a Z30 with the software release 10.2.1.2102.

Hmmm go back and sign out and turn off iMessage then after that reset all settings, its not going to delete anything off the phone. After reset all settings. Go back turn imessages on and sign back in.

Bluetooth seems like working since last week and at the same time I can't manage the Wi-Fi. I have already restored.

This entire thing is a hair over four months old, I don't think it should be acting up this much. Plus, this problem happens only once out of every 40 or 50 times I start this thing up. It's very infrequent, but it's there, and it just bothers me, I guess.
That said, I would try reinstalling, but I wouldn't be able to tell if it'd worked unless the problem never cropped up again in a long, long time. Sadly I also don't have access to my OSX discs at the moment (I'm out of the country).

Adjusting work environment with oracle developer 6.0 running on SCO-UNIX

I am having the same exact problems, except I'm attempting to put the two on windows 98. I'm a student at California State Univeristy of Sacramento, and this problem does not seem to be rare. If anyone, such as a Oracle employee scanning over this discussion, could explain how to install this combination, and remove it, please help!!!
The teacher suggested installing developer in one home, and oracle in another home. I have yet to try this since I am having problems deleting Oracle off of my computer.

My Enterprise Manager looks exactly the same, as though I have the servername and computer name and login accounts correct (I can connect using Query Analyzer and Enterprise Manager using the same username and password as at work, and the server registration name shows up correctly as DATABASE).
Any hints?

This must be an XP Home Edition thing. I ran a port scanner and there's nothing listening on port 1433, even through SQL Server is running and I can connect through Query Analyzer, etc.
Anyone else have any specific input/experience?
