IMovie Lion = camcorder no longer works

iMovie 09 (8.0.6) + Snow Leopard worked fine. I upgrade to Lion (10.7.1) and my camcorder no longer is recognized.
Anything I can do to correct this? Where do I start?

Something that's likely to be easy to start with is run Disk Utility to Repair Permissions. It's located in Applications>Utilities>Disk Utility and probably won't take that long to run it, then power down the Mac. Hookup the camera using the power adapter that came with it, put it into VCR/Playback mode. Once that's set, start up your Mac. Launch iMovie and see if it can detect the camera this time.
If that fails go to the Desktop and go to the Menu Bar> Go Menu (hold down the Option key) and choose Library. Inside the Library folder, find Preferences folder>com.apple.iMovie8.plist
Drag that .plist file to the trash, restart iMovie and see if it can detect your camera. If that fails, work on it from the camera side as well. Unplug the camera, remove the battery, remove any watch battery that might also be in the camera to hold the Date/Time. Wait about 5 minutes or so, and put the watch battery back in and the bigger main battery, put the camera into Camera/record mode and check the Date/Time. Reset that to the current date and time through the menus on your camera. Put the camera in VCR/playback mode. And also plug it into the electrical power adapter which should still be plugged into the wall.
Shutdown the Mac, and hook the camera up to Mac, and start it up. Launch iMovie and see if it can detect the camera.
One of these is bound to shake loose whatever is preventing the camera from talking to your Mac.

Why not just purchase a used camcorder on eBay? Another option would be to use a Hi8 to DVD Transfer service such as http://www.memoryhub.com/convert/hi8-to-dvd

IMovie HD "help" no longer works

After importing the second video of my movie (from old 8mm film, put on disc) to edit, my iMovie "Help" no longer works. Worked after the first but not after the second. Says there is still 184GB available.

I don't know whether this will help as it is really connected with the MacOSX Help Viewer but it may be worth a try. It is the section entitled "Reset the Help Viewer":-

After installing Mountain Lion Webdisk no longer work.

I am relatively new to Macs. I finally bit the bullet and purchased a new iMac to use for my photography. And I LOVE it!
The only problem I'm having with the upgrade from Lion to Mountain Lion is the inability for my WebDisk that is no longer working.
I've been getting two errors.
"Check the server name or IP address, and then try again. If you continue to have problems, contact your system administrator."
and
"You must accept the servers certificate to connect! Please try again"
Any suggestions?

IMovie speed editor no longer working since Yosemite upgrade

After upgrading to Yosemite yesterday, I've noticed that the speed editor no longer works. It used to be a turtle icon but now it's a clock (3rd icon from the right in the attached image)..but a clock that can never be clicked on. Also Command R is supposed to activate it, but that doesn't work either.
Anyone have any tips about this? This bug is making an already late project much later.

I found the cause for my problem, and probably for yours also: disable the Wrap Timeline option by Unchecking View -> Wrapping Timeline. (I don't know whether this is a bug or "working as designed".)

IMovie 11 projects no longer working, preview window is glitched or black, event library not playing imported vids

I am having a lot of trouble with iMovie 11. I bought a new MacBook Pro 15" for the sole purpose of editing surgical videos for work. iMovie 11 was working great initially for me (taking full length surgical video - up to 2 hours) and editing these down to anywhere from 5 to 30 min videos highlighting crucial steps for the surgeries along with transitions, ken burns, etc (with the plan of overlaying narrative voice-over later). I had about 15 of these videos edited sitting in my Project Library and multiple imported videos (dvd to m4v via handbrake then imported via iMovie 11) in my Project Library. Now none of my projects play in the preview window, it's either black or a weird glitchy picture (like messed up pic of my doc or desktop... really weird) and only about 2 of my imported videos play in the project library, otherwise they are just black when I roll over them. My projects are still intact as far as edited clip lengths and transitions, but nothing plays, even in full screen mode. I tried making a new project and the imported video shows in the event library but when I add it to a project it's black (but does play in full screen mode, but impossible to edit this way). I think the audio is actually intact although i'm not positive because these videos don't have any audio (there's some baseline level that fluctuates on the audio bars).
I tried finalizing and exporting a project as an m4v (one that was a combination of two edited imported videos - one of the source imported vids working in the event library and the other not working) and the first half is all glitched up with no surgery video, but the second half is there with the transitions and everything (the half that is working in the event library). This part does not show up when I am trying to edit the project.
fyi - I had deleted some of the videos from my event library to unclutter a little some time ago, the projects were still working after that.
I can find all of my imported videos (in .mov format) that should be working in the event library when I look in the folder:
users/me/movies/iMovie events
If someone could please help me resolve this issue, I would really appreciate it. I put a lot of work and time into these videos and it would be near impossible to start from scratch (which would probably be on some other movie editor like windows movie maker since my iMovie is not working properly even for new projects). I'm hoping this is just some sort of glitch that can be fixed and my projects are still salvagable. I can't remember if this started after I did a system software update or not. This will be a huge dissapointment for me in the Apple platform if I have to scrap my projects because I had just switched over from the PC platform.
I even got Norton antivirus and internet security to make sure I don't have some sort of weird virus.
I have a Feb 2011 15 in MacBook Pro 2.2 Ghz, 4 g RAM, 750 g HD, 1 g vid card. iMovie ver 9.0.4. Lion 10.7.2

Did you by any chance upgrade your Mac OS from version 10.6 (Snow Leopard) to 10.7 (Lion) during the time you were working in iMovie on all these projects?
If not, start by deleting the iMovie Preferences file.
Go to the Desktop
Hold down the Option key and choose the Go Menu > Library
Go to Preferences > com.apple.iMovieApp.plist
Move the .plist file to the trash and restart iMovie
See if the Project files react any differently. Failing that try doing a Repair Disk Permissions:
Restart the Mac, hold down the Option key continuously until 2 hard drive icons appear
Choose the Recovery Volume as your startup disk and let it run until you see the Desktop
Choose Disk Utility from the Recovery Menu
Run Repair Disk Permissions in Disk Utility
Reboot the Mac and when you see the Desktop appear launch iMovie
See if the Project files are the same or different. Next step after this is to one at a time take the Project folders out of users/me/movies/imovie projects. Move one to the desktop and start iMovie. Try skimming the projects that acted up recently. Moving one project at a time might help isolate which project may be causing problems. You can also place project folders back in their original location after doing this testing and iMovie will recognize them on the next relaunch. It won't hurt anything.

I used to be able to mirror my Mac Book Pro screen to my LCD tv. It seems like when I updated to Lion it no longer works. Am I right, or Am I doing something wrong?

I used to be able to watch movies from my laptop on my LCD TV, and it seems to me that eversince I upgraded to the Lion operating system the mirroring does not work. I have researched previous questions and I have checked the FAQ section on the Apple website and I am told to click on the mirroring icon but the icon has dissapeared from my task bar. When I plug the adaptor from thunder to HDMI the laptop screen flickers, turns blue and then goes back to the desktop but nothing shows on the LCD. I have also tried with a Thunder to VGA adaptor and the same thing happens. Any clues?

Network Accounts used on Lion computers no longer work with Snow Leopard computers.

I am having issues with my network users who have once used a computer with Lion on it joined to the network then going to use a Snow Leopard workstation and Google Chrome and Safari crash randomly either at the first 30 seconds or typing a space or backspace character.

I am also facing this situation with a 2007 2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Mac Mini that is running OS 10.7.4 Lion, which is not upgradable to Mountain Lion because it requires 64 bit processsing, while the Mini is limited to 32 bit. Why is Pages suddenly crippled? I've never seen anything like this. Somehow, Pages was upgraded to 4.2 and now it no longer runs even though I have upgraded to your last latest OS before Mountain Lion. What gives, Apple? I've spent thousands on your products over the years, from an Apple IIgs, IIci, Mac 6100, 7100, iMac, and on through my two iPad and five iPhones. We customers deserve an explanation, not the silent treatment. Fix this.

With Mountain Lion, airplay no longer works, why not?

The only thing that has changed is that I went from Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion.
Have mid-2010 iMac, 3 Airport Express', 3 powered speakers. Was able to send music to three rooms. Firewall was on.
After upgrading to Mountain Lion I noticed the firewall was off. I turned it back on.
I tried sending music via the Airport Express'.
Got a message that my firewall settings were preventing Airplay and that I should turn the firewall off.
That seems likde a bad idea.

I am haveing this exact same issue. I have plugging in 3 monitors and tried two different VGA to mini displayport and nothing is working. I recently bought a Acer monitor and it work for an hour and now it back to doing the same thing.
When I plug the VGA adapter in to the monitor the monitor think its not connected to a computer then when disconnecting the VGA adapter the monitor thinks it is connected to a computer.
NEED SOME HELP!!! at the point of all my hair is pulled out.

Have an old MBP. Just installed lion on it today. Previously, the computer had no password (at login, I would just hit enter so essentially the password was nothing). After installing Lion, that no longer works, and now I can't get into my computer. Help!

It's not uncommon for some people to have a "blank" password, I did that for years. Apparently Lion has a problem with blank passwords.

Mini DisplayPort to VGA isn't working. It won't recognize any external monitor. It worked just fine with my older spring 2011 MacBook Pro running Snow Leopard, but now with my brand new 2012 MacBook Pro running Mountain Lion, it no longer works

I just bought a new MacBook Pro this summer and was all excited. But I'm very frustrated right now because I can't connect to any external monitors through VGA. My thunderbolt (DisplayPort Mini) to HDMI works just fine, but when I try with my other connector to go from Thunderbolt (DisplayPort Mini) to VGA, Nothing works. my screen goes blue and changes size like it recognized something but nothing is ever detected on the external moniter or projector. I'm not sure what is wrong but it's very frustrating. I'm just very depressed that it worked just fine with my 2-year-old MacBook Pro but isn't working now. I'm running OS X 10.8.2. I just upgraded yesterday from 10.8.1 but that upgrade did nothing to fix my problem. Can anyone help? Thanks

I have a Belkin USB N150 Wireless Adapter used since my airport card broke. It worked in mountain lion however no longer works when i updated to mavericks. Anyone have a solution to this?

Is there anyway to fix this, or is there a way to downgrade back to mountain lion?

If you've backed your Mac up with Time Machine, you may be able to revert to Mountain Lion by restoring from your backup.

CalDAV Calendars No Longer Work in Mountain Lion?!

Since upgrading to Mountain Lion, CalDAV no longer works for me - it fails to log in to the server (which I know is working because the same credentials and address still work on my iPhone and iPad).
I've tried deleting and re-adding the calendar and making sure alerts are not defaulted to none, but now, if I try to re-add it using the Wizard, it fails because it can't log in (it says it found a calendar but that my login failed), and if I edit the parameters for one that I know works to those now, it keeps telling me the server gave an error when I try to connect and asking for my password. This is not the problem with creating and modifying events in Zimbra - I never even get there, I cannot log in to my CalDAV server anymore using credentials that I know work using other CalDAV clients.
Any help would be appeciated, this is a disabling, showstopper problem, I don't want to have to back out the OS install for this or g-d forbid, pave my machine, but I must have a functional calendar.

I unfortunately am still getting a serious problem with connecting to a non-Zimbra caldav server. From looking in the logs, here is what I am seeing:
