  • Imovie movie trailer previews have changed to one of my videos

I'm using iMovie '11 (9.0.4) and have noticed that when I try to create a new project and look at the movie trailers, each of the movie trailers show my last iMovie project instead of the generic preview that they once showed.  I can choose one of the the movie trailer projects and it will be the correct movie trailer, but when choosing a new project, the previews are not what they were when I installed the program.  Anyone else with this issue and a fix?

It's probably the 12-bit audio problem. See http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=42974 iMovie: Improving audio and video synchronization

I buy for mac app but not for the iPad, so how do I reinstall a program that has already purchased? I need help because I bought the imovie'11 but when he opened it only brought 8 movie trailer templates instead of the 15 it says on the program. How do I solve this problem? Once paid for a program incomplete. I also liked that the AppStore itself had a button to reinstall programs already bought, because it is very hard to understand how to do this in the store, only option is to install and hide purchase, and how do I reinstall, attention'm talking about reinstalling a computer mac, not an ipad or iphone.
    Thank you.

Prodesigntools.com , go ahead and download the software from there and use your serial number to serialize it.

'enhancement request', ask for an API for 3rd party developers, add-ons, plug-ins, 'themes', 'jam packs'.
    especially the AppStore would do marvel ... imagine a 2.99$ wedding-theme download, a 0.79$ baseball-score-title, some 1.99$ Halloween blood transition ..............

How do I dispute a copyright claim against a video i made using a trailer in iMovie? The only content I used was the video I shot of friends daughter on a merry-go-round.IMovie had the music etc that I used. Here's the message It gives a number of options to choose from if I want to dispute the claim but I don't know which one this would come under. Several obviously don't apply and of the ones left I don't know which content that is in IMovie that I use comes under. "This video is my original content and I own the rights to it" "I have a license or written permission of the property rights holder to use this material" "My use of the content meets the legal requirements for fair use of fair dealing under applicable copyright laws" or "The content is in the public domain or is not eligible for copright protection."

You want to use the "I have a license..." option, since clearly the music is not yours, but Apple has granted you a license.
For your license, see this document, section 2.M. http://images.apple.com/legal/sla/docs/iMovie.pdf
For more on this irritating problem and why it is so hard to solve, see this article. (It is a problem for Final Cut Pro users as well.)

  • Making i movie trailer on last clip that needs to be optimised help!

making i movie trailer, on last clip have alert that says clip needs to be optimized  help!

Right-click on the clip (or Control-click) and see if it offers to optimize. If so, say Yes.
You can also right-click on the clip in the Event and see if it offers to optimize. If so, say Yes.
If it does not, come back and I will give you a different way to optimize.
If you want to understand what is going on when you optimize, your camera shoots in a very compressed format. This is usually either AVCHD, h.264, or MPEG2. These are called Long GOP (group of pictures) compression techniques. See my post here for why it is good to convert to i-frames (or optimize) before editing.

  • How can I download movie trailer from Music Store for iPod?

Movie trailers are produced to attract audience to see the film, so there shouldn't be any coryright issues. But why is it that I cannot copy and paste or download movie trailers from Music Store onto my iTunes and iPod? If Apple puts it on the Music Store, it expects people want to transfer it to their iPod. Sometimes just could not understand what these people think!

Thanks ALpinaoman, I am afraid things (and life in the world of Apple) are not as simple as you described it. First of all, some movie trailers - when they are played - do not have a little drop down menu arrow to the far right. Secondly, after transferring (i.e. saving) the movie trailer onto the iTunes on my iMac, only a few can be updated onto the iPod, most can't. The error message on the iMac is: "Some of the videos in you iTunes library, including the video "breakfastonpluto.ref" were not copied to the iPod because they cannot be played on this iPod. Click More Info to visit www.info.apple.com/kbnum/n301461 for more information on creating videos compatible with your iPod." What the xxxx is this ".ref" format? Why can't these stupid IT people sit down and agree on ONE format instead of MP4, MOV, AVi, WMV, asx etc etc etc.
I have used the video iPod for a month now and have all kinds of hurdles transferring video to the unit (easier for DVD, very difficult for VCD, got visual but no sound, etc etc). I have no idea how technically complex the whole thing was when I bought the iPod. I thought it was like recording your TV show on VCR which was low tech (well tech has advanced quite a bit since VCR was invented and tech was supposed to make life easier not more complicated). I guess I need to attend a one year training on computer engineering before I know how to use "user friendly" Apple products.

  • How to Add Still Photo for Movie Trailer?

I can't get iMovie '11 to see any of my iPhoto still pictures to add to a Movie Trailer. How can I do this? The photo icon is gray.

The Trailers don't accept stills, as they are designed to work only with video clips. However, a workaround is to convert the Trailer to a normal project (File>Convert to Project). Then you can edit the project like any other. A downside though is that any modifications you make may cause the music and images to go out of sync. The video and music could end up finishing at different times. You may therefore have to add your own music, lessening the impact of the predesigned theme. NOTE: Before converting, Duplicate the Trailer first, then convert the duplicate. To duplicate, right-click on the Project name in the Project Library then select Duplicate Project.
You could create a project containing just the stills you want to use in the Trailer. Export the project at full size, then re-import to an iMovie Event. That will effectively create a movie from the stills which should then be available for the Trailers. I haven't tested this but assume it will work, given that the stills have now been converted to video.
PS. I just tested the procedure described in my last paragraph above. It works perfectly. In fact you can use the Ken Burns effect on the photos before exporting, creating movement on the stills, which works great with the Trailers!

  • Cannot make a movie trailer

I cannot make an movie trailer. The problem starts at creating a new movie trailer. In the 'New Project' window the small preview window shows a black screen.
Also all of my other created trailers don't work.
Every time I select a movie trailer project iMovie messes up all my other movies as well: the preview window (right top) shows a gray or white or just a wrong image.
When I select a project and I want to play it (in the preview window or full screen) sometimes I see nothing but I hear the sound of an other project.
I have a 2.93 GHZ Core i7 very fast iMac with 10.7.2 so everything is up to date.
This is what I have done already:
    - deleted the com.apple.iMovieApp.plist in the library > preference folder
    - restarted iMac
    - restarted iMovie
Every time a lot of problems appear and the preview window shows strange blocks...
New made (corrupted) movie trailers cannot be deleted also. I have to delete them in the finder.
No luck so far... Has any one an idea?
    Jeroen

Jeroen, One last thing to try (as I am running out of ideas quickly) is to create a new User Account under System Preferences > Accounts > Click on the Plus botton under the left side window where it shows all the accounts. Login as that user in that new account, launch iMovie and see if the Movie Trailers are not working.
Failing that, try booting up with the Shift key held down (Safe Mode) until you see the timer start spinning. Once you see the desktop, launch iMove and see if the Movie Trailers are not working.
In the first instance if it works with a new user account it's a preference file or some permission in your default user account tha's broken. Don't know which one it would be or how to repair it.
In the second instance it may be an add-on program, system extension or helper application that is causing the problem. In that case it would require uninstalling them one at a time and testing iMovie to see if reacts differently after those items are uninstalled.
Lastly, try moving all your Movie Trailer Projects out of the Movies folder (just pull them out temporarily). And see if you can create a new Movie Trailer Project. Sometimes a corrupted project can cause iMovie to fail in odd and mysterious ways. If this were to work it would be a matter of putting one Movie trailer back into the Projects folder one at a time, opening them inside of iMovie, quitting iMovie, move the next project, etc. This way it would possible to establish which Project is the culprit.

  • Movie trailer or any other links in the quicktime player does not work

When I click on the movie trailer/Hot picks/Quick picks links on the player interface nothing happens. When I move the Mouse it changes to a hand showing the link is clickable.
Also when I click on the "Quicktime Website" or the "Quicktime Player Help" from the Help Menu, nothing happens.
When I go to any apple website and clicks on the sample trailer movies links, it is playing the trailer.
Anybody may please tell how to solve the problem.

  • Why won't movie trailer files open in Quicktime

Each time I try to open a movie trailer file in my Quick time pro I see a down load window with a small X box at the top left hand of the window.
Why won't these files open. When I go to the same files in Itune Store I have no difficulty downloading and playing

I had a similar problem a few weeks ago, but nobody gave me a reply. I don't know if it helps in your case, but I eventually found out it was my firewall blocking the download.
I could view SD trailers but not the HD ones for some reason.

  • What font is used in the movie trailer "Good"?

I'm trying to figure out what font is being used in the movie trailer for "Good". Or if anyone has suggestions for a font that is similiar to it, and is good for video.
    Thanks,
    Melinda

This was a very helpful clue. Its not actually Trajan but Shàngó. I tracked down a font designer who clarified it. But you email was instrumental in the search. Thanks very much!

  • Movie trailer to dvd

Can a movie trailer made with imovie be burned into a dvd using imovie?

Yes.  Use the Share ➙ Media Browser menu option.  Then open iDVD and add the movie to the menu by dragging it from the Media Browser window in iDVD.
DO NOT use the Share ➙ iDVD menu option.  It produces a lower qualtiy video than the Media Browser method.

  • Is there not an app similar to the iTunes movie trailer app for the mac? i perviously owned a macbook pro and had a built-in app for movie trailers this was one of my favourite parts of the mac system.

i am trning to find the movie trailer app that was built in on my late model macbook pro. if this isnt still an option, i would like to know my other options.

There is a way to see (in small window) short bits and parts of video movies, where they exist, in the iTunes application from the store page in there. My older Mac with earlier version of iTunes lets me browse Music, Movies, TV stores, from the sections on the iTunes application; years ago there was more direct content. They used to have a site page for some of those clips... I haven't looked lately.
A screenshot of a video clip ^ from the iTunes Movie store, via iTunes in my Mac.
If you browse the items for sale/rent, a few have a tiny triangle on them and this opens the little window where a preview runs. A few actual movies will have an option to see a preview or trailer-like video in a similar small window that opens up over the store screen.
The older iTunes application in earlier Mac systems had various other features. In order to view movie trailer kinds of content streamed from the internet, you may have to look into a third party application or a web page.
There may be a list of applications included with certain models of Mac portables
and if you can find that name, that may be a talking point. The Store has lists of
what software may be included in the most recent Macs in each products info.
{There was no mention prior to your reply...
    that you did not want to make movies, btw.}
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • How can I change the title backgrounds in a project from a converted movie trailer theme?

I converted a movie trailer theme (action) to a movie. The title backgrounds are all red but I like the effects. I would like the background color to be blue. Thanks for your help!

Unfortunately I tried doing a swap with a color background and it looks like it doesn't let you just drag a replacement background in. So the best you can expect is to drag a color background from the Map tool browser (it has a globe icon on it) and drag it next to the background you want to use, set the duration to be the same length. Drag the tite block to the new color background clip. Then delete the background from the original Movie trailer version.
