IMovie not finding my movies in iPhoto

Is there a reason why iMovie is not automatically finding the movies I have saved in iPhoto? I have many movie clips from my camera that I imported into iPhoto and would like to move them over to iMovie. Or do I have to import these clips separately from my camera directly to iMovie?

Hi. Similar issue. When I loaded iMovie 08, yesterday, it automatically imported videos from my iPhoto 08 library. Today, when I imported video and pictures into iPhoto 08, iMovie didn't update to show me all of the videos I just imported. The video clips are all .mov format from a Kodak V570 camera. I can view the clips from iPhoto 08 with QT just fine. Frustrating.

  • I movie not finding the movies in my album

I have all the recent updates of mac operating systmes and iphoto and imovie.  When I am in Iphoto I can see both events and albums with movies from my iphone.  When I am in the new imovie, it is not automatically generating thumbnails for them.  THere is new tab at top under libraries that says Iphoto library.  WHen I open the event, the folder does not have any of the movies - it does have photos.  When I do to events -the even with the clips is not there.  Have closed and opened both prgrams and rebooted.  Suggestions??  thank you !

Try this, find the movie in iPhoto and select it. Go to File on the menu bar and select Reveal in Finder. See if the file can be dragged into iMovie from Finder, drop it into an event. That way you know if the file is the problem or not.

  • I am not able to move my IPhoto pics to the cloud.  Do I have to convert all IPhoto albums to Moble Galleries first?

I am not able to move my IPhoto pics to the cloud.  Do I have to convert all IPhoto albums to Moble Galleries first?

Also, when I add things to my desktop they are no longer showing up on my actual desktop. However, they are in the folder for my desktop on Finder. I'm not sure if these problems are related in any way.

  • Took movie w/iPhone, imported into iPhoto, now iMovie not "seeing" the .mov

    Hi,
I took a movie with my iPhone 3GS. During the sync process with my Mac, iPhoto imported the file as a .mov. In iPhoto, when I click on the .mov file, QuickTime opens and plays the movie just fine. In iMovie, however, when I click the little camera icon (to open up iPhoto and search for files), I cannot see the .mov file, even though I know it is there in iPhoto.
I have read a number of posts about this issue, and feel fairly lost at the moment. I'd appreciate any point in the right direction.
    Thanks

    That would be simple....
I am having a similar problem trying to find images I have imported into iPhoto not showing up in iMovie. I have tried the fixes they suggest in the iMovie help file: "iLife: Cannot See iPhoto Files in Other iLife Applications" and they do not help.
However, the images do not show up in iMovie even though the events and photos show up in iPhoto and other events and images... from earlier show up in iMovie. At least until March 22 08. I don't use iPhoto or iMovie very much as I don't have a Digital Camera or Cell Phone. I do have a project now that they would be perfect for and now...
The help file info didn't help... there is another more current thread as well about the photo issue rather than the iPhone movie... but I think it is the same issue to do with iMovie seeing imports made by iPhoto.

  • iMovie not showing SOME of my iPhoto movies. Why?

I import all my movies into iPhoto with the same Canon camera. No problem there.
In iMove, the "iPhoto videos" section has stopped adding/showing new movies. I have a bunch that were added recently that are simply not showing up.
They are exact;y the same format, etc. as all the others.

After calling Apple (they were no help and I was disappointed) I kept searching in the Apple support community and found the answer.
To get iMovie '11 to show the iPhoto videos under the event library on the bottom left of iMovie, you simply have to empty your iPhoto trash.  Once the trash was emptied, I restarted iMovie and the problem was fixed after iMovie did a search and showed the thumbnails of the videos.
Again, this info came from another person on the support community.  Hope this helps someone else.

  • Isolate or find only movies in iPhoto

Once I import all my photos and movies into iphoto and place them in an album, I want to isolate just the movie clips I recorded via my camera which are now in that album, whats the best way to do this?
Is there an ordering function like "kind" (jpeg, mpeg) as I can only view files in thumbnail mode.
I want to end up either ordering them by kind, or seeing only the movie clips in the album, either way is fine.

    Thanks TD,
that works in isolating my movies from all my albums, but there`s a lot, is there a way just to see the movies from just 1 single album?
I know it seems silly to ask but I have been doing time lapse some 4000 plus photos in an album but mixed with some filming as well, so Im trying to find the fastest way to isolate the movies in that album of 4000 I imported from my memory card.

  • Not finding purchased movies in iTunes

I purchased a movie on my iMac (in Philly) that I want to watch on my Macbook (currently on vacation in NY). If I find the movie in the Itunes Store and click "buy movie," iTunes says I already purchased the movie. The problem is that I can't find it in my purchased items list. How do I download my movie without hitting "buy again?" It says if I "buy again" I may have a duplicate (don't care), but it doesn't say if I will be charged again for a movie I already have.

You buy one and only one download of movies.  You cannot redownload them.
You would have to copy them from one computer to another.

  • Can not find a movie file after downloading from iTunes.

After downloading a movie in iTunes Store (with iTunes Extra feature), I don't know why I can't find the main movie file on my hard drive (only iTunes Extra file was showed). What can I do?

I can't find a movie I downloaded and iTunes wants me to purchase it again.

  • Can not sync video (movies) from iPhoto to iPad

    iPad 64GB 3G
    MacPro
    iPhoto 8.1
    iTunes 9.1.1
I have a small number of videos (movies) managed in iPhoto. They cam off my digital camera and they go into iPhoto. everything has always been happy.
I select a small number of them and add them and some photos into a new album for my iPad. The photos work fine (shot and stored as jpeg and RAW) the videos do not transfer over. There is an error message about the .mov format not supported.
So why does the Apple iTunes not know how to get the Apple iPhoto movies and put them on the Apple iPad so I can see them?
I had to save a video from iPhoto out to file and open with Quicktime and then resave it and let iTunes sync it to GoodReader in order to see it on my iPAD. So why do I need a third party tool and a work around to get all of the Apple tools to work for my iPad when they seamlessly work for my iPod?

    Greetings,
iPad, like iPods and iPhones and Apple TVs, reads certain types of movie files.
The movies you are trying to sync are most likely, not a format that is compatible with iPad.
iTunes includes a built in feature that will convert movie files to the proper format. Take a look at the iTunes help menu: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=iTunesMac/9.1/en/31445.html
Drag your desired movies out of iPhoto and drop them into iTunes. You can then follow the above help article to convert them to an iPad version.
You can also read about the specific formats that iPad supports: http://support.apple.com/kb/SP580
    __Look under "TV and video"
On an unrelated note, there are new versions of iPhoto and iTunes available. You can download them by going to the Apple Menu and Software Update.

  • IMovie not showing my movie in the Projects folder

When I click on the All Projects folder, in the preview section it says the name of the movie I have been working on. However, it shows no icon where I could click onto it nor does it allow me to play the video. I have tried making duplicates thinking maybe it would show up, to no avail ( I really don't know much about my computer ). It says that there are 3 projects there and yet nothing shows up. Recently, iMovie was not opening and it kept saying it "quit unexpectedly" but after following some advice online I was able to move things around in Preferences and iMovie opened - however it doesn't help me if I can't edit my movie. All of the clips are still in my Library though. I really would appreciate any help - this is for a school project (time is of the essence) and this is my first apple computer so I need as much help as I can get. Thank You!

Hopefully one of these steps should solve the problem.
Go step by step and test.
    1. System Preference > Sound > Output > Internal Speakers
        Highlight  Internal Speakers / Headphones
Make sure that Mute is not enabled.
    2. Remove the headphone.
If you see red light in the headphone port, plug the headphone
in and out of the port 5 or 6 times to flip the microswitch inside.
Sound output may be stuck in the digital mode.
    3. Reset PRAM.  http://support.apple.com/kb/PH4405
    4. Reset SMC.     http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
        Choose the method for:
"Resetting SMC on portables with a battery you should not remove on your own".
    5. Applications > Utilities > Audio MIDI Setup
        Audio Devices window
        Side Bar
        Click the Built-in Output.
Under Mute any of the boxes checked? If so, uncheck it.

  • Not exactly iMovie, but can't find my movie?

This is probably something really stupid, but I saved an iMovie to one of my external drives and deleted it from the one where I created it because I needed more space on that drive. No problem, finished the movie, made iDVD disk image and burned it to DVD, exported the iMovie back to miniDV tapes. I am now ready to delete the iMovie, but......I CAN'T FIND IT!
I can open it by opening iMovie from the Dock and selecting 'Open Recent' so I know it is there somewhere. I think I accidentally saved it to some file that I had had open before working with iMovie, not the usual 'Movies' file. But, I cannot find it when I look in the files on the external drives; I have four of them.
I tried doing a Save As, but that just led to the iMovie being copied to my desktop, and does not solve the problem of finding the original so I can delete it.
Is there any way to find the path of the location of the iMovie when I have it open? Or any other way? Mac Help did not address this situation.

Well, I solved the mystery! And, no, the project name was only 2009 Part 3 no other characters in the name.
Strangely, after searching for 'iMovie' '501' and items by size (had to search to find out how to do this....obviously I don't use the 'Find' function too often), I never did find any evidence of the project on any of my drives.
However, when I opened iMovie again....the copied one... and then looked again at 'Open Recent' the two titles were there, but instead of the folder icons and the file names of 'Movies' and '501' the titles were now followed by the icons of my external drives and the drives' names!
Aha! I am thinking.... now I know where the original is located! Searched for it on that particular drive...not there.
I finished the new iDVD project, created my disk image file, burned my 5 DVD disks, played one in my DVD player to be sure it worked fine, copied my iMovie back to miniDV tape......THEN I DELETED THE COPIED IMOVIE......and....(drum roll please...) BOTH MOVIES DISAPPEARED FROM THE IMOVIE 'Open Recent' choice!! AND, both external drives showed an increase of about 22 GB each...recovering the GB used by each iMovie.
So....never located the original iMovie, but did get the result I wanted in that it is now deleted.
Thank you Karsten for your patient persistent help with this rather weird situation!
