IMovie on the iPad

Hi Everyone,
I have a couple of questions about using iMovie on the iPad.
1.  Is there a way to have a song play in the background during pictures, but then stop during a video, and then start again after the video ends?
2.  Alternatively, is there a way to have one song play, then have a personal video with no background music, then have a new song start after the video?  In other words, is there a way to have two songs NOT play back to back?
Thank you!

I'm not sure about the iPad locations, but normally you should find all your iTunes movies here (unless iTunes is on an external drive):

  • I have iMovie for the iPad and I want to be able to add subtitles to certain parts of the movie, is there a way to do this?

So, I'm making a stop motion for youtube, and the movement is way to fast for me to try and talk for it, so, I need to be able to add subtitles down at the bottom of the screen. Can I do this on iMovie for the iPad?

First, get an app called MPEG Streamclip, which is free. You can find it by googling MPEG Streamclip Squared 5.
    Open MPEG Streamclip.
In iMovie, select the clip you need. Then, right-click/Reveal in Finder.
Drag this clip into MPEG Streamclip
In MPEG Streamclip, move the playhead to the frame you want.
In MPEG Streamclip, click FILE/EXPORT FRAME.
Choose JPEG, TIFF, or PNG and give it a name.
Also, for how to add a pointer, try Karsten Schluter's website for a good post on how to do this.

There are third-party browser apps that have settings within them to identify themselves as full browsers e.g. Atomic Web, and I believe the iCab Mobile browser also does (I don't have it so i can't check)
iCab indeed does allow for that

  • In iMovie on the iPad: Recombining two video clips

I am using iMovie on the iPad (iOS 8.1.1.).  I have a project where I split a video clip into two parts.  I wanted to put a title that runs across both clips but it fades in and out so it doesn't stay on the screen for the entire two clips.  I can't undo because I've made too many other changes since I split the original clip.  Is there a way to recombine these two clips so that I can run a single title across the entire clip?

    Hi wall ice-izm,
I have come up with a workaround, but would like something better. I originally sent the video to iTunes from within
    The iMovie program.
I then transferred it to my pc and it was in dv format. I did not see any options for saving it in another format. If it is possible to save it in something the pc can read and ultimately that fCebook can read, I would appreciate knowing how. Yes, I do have QuickTime.
What I ended up doing was buying an app called "photo transfer app". First I saved the video to the camera roll. Then I used the app to wirelessly transfer the iMovie video to my pc and then I was able to upload it to Facebook. It was all very slow and inefficient. When I save a video to the camera roll it saves it in the .MOV format.
I was also able to transfer the video from iPad to pc by saving to the camera roll and then importing the video into Adobe Bridge CS5
Isn't there a more direct way of saving a video to the pc from within imovie in a format it recognizes?
    Nancy

  • I cannot ad photos into iMovie from the ipad

I cannot ad photos into iMovie from the ipad photo roll, please help

What do you mean " back up my photos or Apps"?
The photo sync is one way - computer to ipad.
You can transfer itunes purchases.  Without syncing:  File>Transfer Purchases
Copy everything from your backup copy of your old computer to your new one.

If so, another reason for stopping and starting can be your internet speed.

  • Unwanted cropping in iMovie for the iPad

So I am working on an iMovie trailer for the iPad. I shot the clips I wanted to add with my iPod touch 4g and I sent them all to my iPad through iMessage. I saved them to the iPad and opened iMovie and went to where it showed all the videos I had saved on my iPad. It showed the whole clip when you looked at it there, but when you added it to the trailer it cut off the top of the clip. In some clips it looks alright, but in most it totally cuts off the head. The trailer mainly consists of feet and legs the whole time because of this, and I was wondering if there was a way to crop it differently, maybe a way to crop the bottom and keep the top, or maybe a way to flit the whole clip in the frame?

iMovie edits video wide; similar to televisions.
So you need to shoot video wide, not tall to view the whole image.
So when. You import tall video iMovie crops it to fit the frame.
There is no other workaround, only to shoot wide like the trailer.
If you want to shoot and edit tall video you need to get a different app.

  • How to edit "home videos" in iMovie on the ipad air?

My "home videos" do not show up inside of iMovie. I can see them in the Videos app that comes with it. I want to add a bunch of clips from my do

We need add "home videos" to roll/photo stream for iMovie (iOS) see them. You can use "Downloads HD" or "iDownloads+" from App Store. Once installed, go to iTunes, sincronize your iPad. Click iPad->Applications; at the bottom, Applications->File Sharing->iDownloads+ or Downloads HD->Documents->add your "home videos" and sincronize. Now into iPad run iDonloads+, File Manager, expand options for every video and choose "Add video to photos". Wait while back and that's it.
    Sorry for my english.

  • Can students upload an unfinished iMovie on the iPad to EDMODO and then reaccess it the next day to continue editing?

I have students that want to make an iMovie on iPads for an upcoming project.  We have EDMODO set up for them to post and save their work so they can access it again the next school day.  Is it possible to upload an UNFINISHED iMovie to Edmodo so they can again edit it on other school days?  Our periods are too short for them to finish in 1 sitting.
    Thank you!!

This does work. Students can save the video on the camera roll and then upload them into their edmodo library. The next day they can open the video and export them to imovie and they are ready to go. I hope this helps.

  • Using Mov H.264 Files in IMovie for the IPad

I have just imported some Mov files into my IPad using the optional connector and I can see them and play them using IPhotos but when I try to create a movie using IMovie I cannot find or import the files.  Anyone know how I can overcome this please?

I hear that. I have professional gear myself and it would be handy. Now it could come down to the processing power and they wanted to streamline it because they have control over the ios devices. But I will see if anything else were to work.
Stills shouldn't be a problem, I import my RAW pictures with no problems.

  • Does iMovie for the iPad support green screen functionality?

Was wondering if someone could help me out with this  I want to incorporate the use of green screen in my classroom.

Sorry to say that I, too, am having trouble with my camera and iMovie. I have an Olympus Stylus-9000, and it doesn't pick up when I try to import to iMovie. I checked the list of iMovie-supported cameras online, and not one Olympus model was there. I guess we're just unlucky...

  • Importing HD footage from A SONY HDR-AX2000.  Imovie on the iPad does not recognize the footage.  IS there a way to format my SD cards so that I can work with imovie on the Ipad???  I have a broken computer and a deadline for a project.  Please help.

SO, a genius at my store told me there are some bugs to work through with SONy cameras and Apple.  But I needed the sony camera because of how good they are in lowlight, among other features.  Does anyone have trouble with Final Cut and there SONY cameras??  Is there a better video editing software??

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
Microsoft will launch Office for iOS next year, so you have to wait, Instead of Outlook, use Mail on the iPad

    Thanks Tgara.
Its funny. So far the responses have been 50/50 on this question. I even asked two seperate Apple Store employees here in NYC, and got two different answers! One said yes, the other no.
    Argh!
I know from watching the keynote speech about icloud and iOS 5 that you will be able to cut the cord between the pc and ios devices like the ipad. No more need to sync them via a cord. So will that mean i would then be able to load video directly to the ipad via tha cam kit connector from my ipod? Also i wonder if/when Apple will allow HD video from on Apple devices like a canon dslr to be able to transfer to the ipad via the cam kit connector AND be able to EDIT that footage in imovie for the ipad. Speaking of imovie for the ipad...i hope it gets an update soon as well.
Anyway....with the macbook airs getting updated next week with thunderbolt and new sandy bridge chips....i may just get one of them instead of the ipad 2 for editing video on the road. Still...i prefer surfing the web experience on the ipad. Grrrrrrr. **** youuuuuuu Apple!!! Lol
