IMovie OSStatus error -2125

I need some help badly. I am using imovie '09 and I am trying to export a vacation movie to idvd through the "share" pull down menu at the top of the screen. After about 2 hours of of imovie exporting the file it goes through the entire export then gives me an error of OSStatus error -2125. I have no idea what to do here but I really need to finalize this video through idvd. Any info at all would be great;y appreciated!!!!

iDVD requires a fairly large amount of free space to exist on your internal hard drive. You will want to have around 25GB free space or better. Also, try bypassing Share to iDVD by using Share to Media Browser instead.
In the Share to Media Browser dialog box choose the Large Size.
When(If?) it gets through that process, quit iMovie altogehter then go to iDVD.
Create a new project and click on the Media button near the lower right hand side of the Project Window.
Then click the Movies button in the Browser window just above that.
Under the iMovie star icon you should see the name of the project you shared out from iMovie.
Drag that into the project and burn the DVD.

  • Osstatus error -2125 when exporting in iMovie 11

In imove 11, I'm trying to export using Quicktime. The computer works on the export for hours, but always returns a message of "osstatus error -2125".
I've had no luck figuring out what the code means. Does anyone have any clues here?
    Thanks,
    Mitch

    Hi
OK Error code - 2125 usually indicates that the movie is to large.
It use to pop up when going to iDVD !
iDVD - DO NOT CARE ABOUT Gbs at all. I got movies on 500Mb that do not fit and 50Gb that fits nicely.
iDVD - ONLY CARES ABOUT - Duration. Duration is Movie time + MENU TIME. Choice of
menu and animation of this can take lost of "DURATION" 15 minutes or even more.
Choice of encoding method and use of SL or DL DVDs determine the DVD limit.
    iDVD 08 & 09 & 11 has three levels of qualities.
iDVD 6 has the two last ones
    • Professional Quality (movies + menus up to 120 min.) - BEST
    • Best Performances (movies + menus less than 60 min.) - High quality on final DVD
    • High Quality (in iDVD08 or 09) / Best Quality (in iDVD6) (movies + menus up to 120 min.) - slightly lower quality than above
DL DVDs can store about double of these times.
ALTERNATIVE - The Error Code can indicate that free space on Start-up (BOOT) hard disk is
    less than 25Gb (my minimum)

Try changing the sleep settings to never and see if you are able to export.

  • IMovie Export using Quicktime in 1080p gives error OSStatus error -2125

Hi, I am new to using iMovie, started using it few days back.  So far i have been unable to "Export using Quicktime" in 1920*1080p option.
I was able to export using "Export to Quicktime" in 640*480p (.mp4 format) option and was able to use "Export Movie" with 1920*1080p (.mov format) option.
Trying to export using "Export using Quicktime" in 1080p always failed so far.  I tried at least a dozen times with different settings.  Initially i was getting the following two errors randomly, but later, the last 4-5 trials i keep getting only the first error.
    1. OSStatus error - 2125
    2. Not enough room in the heap zone.
Project details are - it is a 34 min. video and size came to 5.3GB when exported using "Export Movie" (.mov format) using 1080p option.
It indicates 2 hours to export it, takes 2 hours and interestingly, the OSStats error - 2125 error happens at the end of the export. I can see in the finder the increasing size of the file the process is creating.  It has been a really frustrating experience with iMovie so far.  I even tried duplicating the project with a different name and tried export, did not help.
I have >300GB of free space on my hard drive and 8 GB of RAM.  I don't have any heavy applications running on the system.
I read forums about this error and tried the following so far with no help.
    1. Tried changing names of the iMovie project few times to see if that helps.
    2. Set the sleep settings of the computer as well as monitor to Never.
    3. Reached out to apple support about it and they suggested me to setthe sleep settings to never and then try.  But that did not help.
I am stuck with this error OSStatus error - 2125.
The settings I am trying with are:
    Export to MPEG-4
    H.264 video format
    20Mbps bit rate
    30 fps
One question is, once I exported a project in one format or setting, do I have to create a new project to export it in different settings or I can just use the same project?
Can someone please help?  Any help about this is greatly appreciated.   Thank you.

I am having the same issue. Have been searchin gfor 3 days for an answer. I am able to export as MOV file, but not MP4. I bought QT Pro 7 to convert THE MOV to MP4 and it doesnt work either. I then bought iskysoft Video Converter and it wont convert the MOV to MP4 either. (will convert smaller files)
I have 700 GB of free space on drive. I have tried a movie that is 3 hours, one that is one hour, and one that is 54 minutes..All same thing.. Error -2125. Although it will work with smaller movies under 30 mins.
Surely there has to be an answer to this? It seems it has been an ongoing issue for quite some time, yet there is no solution.

  • QuickTime Error: Operation could not be completed. (OSStatus error -2125.)

    Hello there,
I have recovered data from a bad disk and would like to save it as a movie with QuickTime. But it is always giving me this error message at the end, almost before it finishes saving the file:
The movie "Caribou_migration4" could not be saved.
Operation could not be completed. (OSStatus error -2125.)
Does anyone know why is this happening and what can I do. If I don't resave this video, I am not able to use it / or import it to Final Cut Pro!! Help!
    Thank you

    Hello,
Err -2125 means "File offset too big".
Something is wrong in the movie file, for sure.
It's not a surprise given that you've recovered it from a bad disk.
Your file can probably be repair by my "Movie Repair Service".

  • I keep getting the following error message while sharing my iMovie to iDVD.  "Unable to prepare project for publishing"  error (-2125).

I keep getting the following error message while sharing my iMovie to iDVD.  "Unable to prepare project for publishing"  error (-2125).  I'm running iMovie 09 v. 8.0.6 on a iMac with OSX v 10.6.8, 2Ghz core duo, 1GB 667 Mhz DDR2 SDRAM.  Any ideas why?

That particular error comes up for a number of reasons, sometimes it's the size of the movie you're trying to export. Bengt Wärleby a longtime contributor to the iMovie Discussion Group has advised a number of people on this error code, so I am going to link to his latest advice he's given to anyone trying to export to DVD from iMovie: Bengt's tips for great DVDs.
Specifically, try bypassing Share to iDVD by using Share to Media Browser instead.
If it's still to large or you get the same -2125 error code trying to Share using the Medium size instead. But again if you really get stuck consult Bengt Warleby's User tips:

  • When trying to export to quicktime in imovie '09 it gives the osstatus error -2000?

I am using iMovie '09 and when I try to export the project to quicktime, it gives me the osstatus error -3000.  Can anyone help me understand why this is happening??

    It's 720 x 540. MPEG-4 Video, MPEG Layer 3, MPEG-4 AAC. Hope this helps.
Okay, this is going to require additional information for analysis. QT 7 Pro "Properties" window screen capture might solve the iTunes issue—i.e., a screen capture data like this...
However, the video matter may be more of an issue. With MPEG-4 and H.264 codecs you sometimes need to know the Profile, Level, data rate, etc. to ensure the encoded data meets certain codec standards. For instance, are you referring to a non-AVC MPEG-4 ASP Level 5 encode with a data rate less than 8 Mbps?

  • When exporting from Imovie I get the following error? OSStatus error -2009

when exporting from Imovie I get the following error? OSStatus error -2009

    Hi
    Apple Support pages says.
    Error 2000-2009 (2001, 2002, 2005, 2006, 2009, and so on)
If you experience this issue on a Mac, disconnect third-party devices, hubs, spare cables, displays, reset the SMC, and then try to restore. If you are using a Windows computer, remove all USB devices and spare cables other than your keyboard, mouse, and the device, restart the computer, and try to restore. If that does not resolve the issue, try the USB issue-resolution steps and articles listed for Error 1604 above. If the issue persists, it may be related to conflicting security software.

  • OSStatus error -9459 exporting iMovie slideshow

    I get this
OSStatus error -9459 when exporting iMovie slideshow to external hard drive

Error when exporting slideshow (OSStatus error -9459)

  • What is OSstatus error -9549 and how to solve it?

When I was using my iPhoto '09 (Version 8.1.2 (424)) to export a slideshow, I got the following error:
    The operation couldn't be completed.
    OSstatus error -9549
I've never seen this error before previously when performing similar operation. What does it mean and any solution?
    Thanks!

I have the same 9549 error condition trying to export a Display resolutions slideshow. I can reliably repeat this error. My slideshow export hasw125 still images ~4mb each and two songs ~ 6 minutes. the error is thrown near the end of the export.
    Running iPhoto '09 version 8.1.2 (424)
    OS X 10.8.5
Macbook Pro 2.2.Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo
    4 GB 667 Mhz DDR2 SDRAM.
Would appreciate a solution or workaround. FYI I'm using iPhoto to produce this slidshow because iMovie creates objectionally jumpy transitions when using Ken Burns effects. Pretty frustrating using these Apple products to try to make a slideshow with music. If anyone has a 3rd party software app that can do the job please share that too. I'm spending too much time troubleshooting faulty Apple apps.
    Thanks.
