IMovie pictures blurry

I am currently working on a iMovie Project consisting of pictures. I scanned some of the pictures on to my computer and then imported them to iPhoto as well as importing some from other places. From there I created the iMovie. All of the pictures show up in great quality initially. It is only when I play the video that the scanned pictured become blurry. When I pause the video, it focuses again. (I have tried taking off ken burns effect as well as other special effects with no luck.) Help would be GREATLY appreciated!!!

  • Using the new iMovie and importing pictures from iPhoto, why are some of my pictures blurry?

I Know this topic has been discussed before, but I couldn't find anything recent about this.  I have iMovie opened & I'm putting the pictures in. In iPhoto the pictures are clear, but when moved to iMovie, become blurry. I know it has to do with the resolution of the picture but I can't find where to change it at

As far as I know, you can't change it: first, your photo is probably a .jpg and iMovie will be adapting it to a video file which will result in somewhat of a loss of quality and second, if your original picture is small, it cannot be enlarged without significant loss of quality as it will get blurry while the individual pixels are being made larger - that depends on your camera settings and its photo output size. So it could be either or both of those that is the problem here. Check your camera and see what size you are taking your pictures in.

  • How do it change the color of the background in a still photo in a imovie picture slide show

how do it change the color of the background in a still photo in a imovie picture slide show

LOL - I had the same problem.  Hidden in plain sight!  All I saw was Numeric, and thought "Duh! Of course it's numeric - it's a slider!"
I do think NI could do a much better job on this, perhaps with more informative labelling.  Slider Scaling or Scale Format might be better.  Also, since one can select the Digital Display by itself on the front panel, one should be taken directly to the digital display formatting when Properties is selected, instead of still having to change the dropdown. By selecting the digital display instaead of the slider, you're implying that you want to change its format only.

  • IMovie and blurry pictures

So I am creating an IMovie using several pictures.  When I upload the pictures from my IPhotos the pictures are clear.  However when they are in the viewing window and once previewed on the IMovie they are blurry.  Is there a way to fix this?

  • IMOVIE PHOTOS BLURRY

Please do not post if you are from the school of, "it's just the imovie viewer, once you export the product the pictures won't be blurry anymore. I've read that 100 times and it's not true.
When I make a video slideshow on imovie the pictures lose a temendous amount of quality. To make matters worse, I noticed today while playing back on my tv that during the transition it was crisp and clear but once the transition ends and the pic 'settles' it goes back to being blurry. Does anyone have any suggestions for me? I'm annoyed by this loss of quality.
I want to try that fotomagic, but I hate to lose the bells and whistles that I bought from gee-three. Any advice is appreciated.

I'm not sure that's been said, at least not normally. It's not JUST the iMovie viewer; there's lots of factors that affect image quality. But if we make the mistake of judging image quality by what we see in iMovie we're not judging it correctly. That's a very different thing.
So, if you've read (anything about this issue) 100 times, you've seen lots of suggestions. What exactly have you tried?
Or do we have to have the same conversation you've read 100 times?

  • Post 2.2 - Why Are Some of My Pictures Blurry?

I was wondering if there was a reason why some of the pictures I had synced to my phone (not taken with my phone), which were crisp images prior to 2.2, now blurry? Did something change in the way it handles photos that don't exactly fit the screen size/resolution? Do I have to go and alter the original images to match the screen size and re-sync the photos back to my phone? Thanks for any help.

Apple needs to make this problem go away as fast as possible. How could they let something like this slip through?
The only argument a person could make in defense of the lack of MMS on this device was the ability to e-mail pics to and from the phone. This bug has crippled that defense and crippled the iPhone.
I know Apple was in a rush to get the 2.2 software out on the same day the Blackberry Storm dropped...but c'mon.

  • IMovie picture quality

    Hi,
I am using iMovie to make video-clips of footage that I have made from our baby-daughter.
I am not that happy with the quality of my videos and I am uncertain if this is the camera or iMovie
I have a Sony avcHD video-camera (HDR-CX130) and all files are imported directly into iMovie. This works as a blast.
Still, when a project is finalized and 'optimized' the inhouse filmed footage quality looks very poor.
The files that are imported into iMovie are enormous in file-size (why is that, actually?) so I am wondering why the output looks the way it does, somewhat pixelated (is that a word).
Anyway I might be doing something wrong. See below link to one of my projects. This film begins with foto's but at 1.20 i have filmed inside during the day, the whole image seems to be somewhat blurry. This is youtube in 480p but even when I export in quicktime in highes solution possible it doesn't get that much better.

    Your help is appreciated.

Are your iMovie preferences to show the movie at full screen when you go to full screen (meaning it will blow up smaller videos to fit the screen) or have you selected to show the movie at actual size when you go to full screen in cases where the movie is smaller than the full screen?
In other words, if your movie is, for example, 640x480. With the full screen option your 640x480 movie will be blown up to fill the screen (and look like crud). With the other option the movie will only show at 640x480 and not be enlarged.
Many HD formats are LARGER than your screen, but a few of the "mini-HD" formats (e.g. 720p which is 1280x720) the video might be smaller than your full screen resolution, so that preference decides if you want to enlarge it further to fill the screen or if when you go to full screen mode the video is made no larger than actual size.

  • Why are my pictures blurry?

All of the pictures, and most of my videos, are blurry.  Any suggestions? Do I need to change a setting somewhere?

    1. You need more light because camera is only 0.7MP
    2. Support your camera with table or any solid support to prevent camera shake (low light=slow shutter speed)

  • Scanned pictures blurry when viewed in iPhoto

I scanned old film pictures to desktop, then imported to iPhoto11. Images in viewed in Preview are clear but appear mostly blurry in iPhoto11. Can anyone assist?

Thank you for your reply. It seems if I use the arrow keys to go forward and back between pictures, they are clear. So not sure if they were just loading....but the pictures all seem OK now. thanks

  • After export from imovie pictures skips

After I import from camera and into imovie(Where the video plays perfectly), But when I export the movie the picture skips. I tryed to export via quicktime and set it as pal and all others. When I export it´s like the whole camera is shacking but audio is good. What do I do?

Also three other things to add:
    1. The video on both computers is presenting in a 4:3 format instead of 16:9.
    2. The Second computer presenting the video is a 400 MHz G4 Tower with 10.3 OSX
    3. The audio is completely fine but there is no video.

  • IMovie Picture Settings Problem

    Hello Apple Support Boards members,
The pop-up window of my picture settings when choosing a photo to import (you know, with the Ken Burns effects) is out of my screen's range.
I discovered that using Exposé, but it seems this pop-up window is literally unreachable, being a bit further from the edge of my screen. (right edge that is).
How can I reset its position/ have it back?
    Thanks in advance.

This problem can be caused by iMovie's failure to handle one of its own features.
The location of the Photo Settings Window is "stuck" to the location of the project window opening it. This can cause the Photo Settings window to disappear off screen.
    Recipe for the problem:
    1. Place the project window in the lower right corner of the screen.,
    2. Open the Photo Settings window. Drag it to the upper left corner of the screen.
    3. Move the project to the upper left corner of the screen.
    4. Switch to editing something OTHER THAN photos, which causes the Photo Settings window to close.
    5. Now try to open the Photo Settings window. It is inaccessible. It is off-screen, where you can't see it.
    6. To rescue the Photo Settings window, drag the project window back to the lower right corner of the screen. Or Quit iMovie and re-open the project.
To avoid this problem, routinely place the Photo Settings window over the Preview area.
Another way to avoid the problem is for the iMovie programmers to check the location of the window before it opens, and always move it on screen. (Tsk, tsk.)

  • My iCloud Contact Pictures blurry

I synced all of my contacts with my Facebook account including the pictures on my iPhone.  The pictures are showing up crystal clear on my phone but when I sync them to iCloud the majority of them are distorted, and do not fill the entire space.  Does anyone know why this might be?  I've sync'd my Microsoft Outlook and my Address Book as well and they reflect the same photos that iCloud does, blurry, distored and disportionate - yet on my iPhone it's perfection - any ideas how to remedy?

I'm having the same issue. I've synced my photos using the app AllSync, and they show up fine on my iPhone but blurry when viewing from iCloud...
